"Who the hell are you?!" a voice yelled after I had finished my shower and almost completely dressed, causing me to groan out. "Are you one of her whores?" he said it with so much hatred that I couldn't help but cringe.
"It's not her fault that she does what she does," Thomas said, his voice firm. There was a hard edge in it, and I knew that he didn't like my mate. "You do not know anything about her."
"I know that she is a slut," my mate replied.
I scoffed and walked out of the bathroom, a dingy towel around my neck, wearing clothes that were more stitched up pieces than not. The only thing that didn't look bad were the combat boots that Jerecho had given me for my eighteenth birthday. "I am more of a prostitute," I said, walking into the room.
My mate turned to look at me and looked me up and down, giving me a once over. "So, what? You just use sugar daddies and feed off of them?" He snorted in disgust. "Not fit to be a Luna."
I rolled my eyes and shook my head, hiding a flinch because that was just what my father had said before he had beaten me. Why was he my mate? "Names Skylar Ross," I replied. I looked at his Beta through the corner of my eye and saw him stiffen. A smirk appeared on my face when I saw that. "Yes, the same snatcher of Omegas from packs that have been treated unfairly." I bowed, mockingly. "At your service."
My mate looked me up and down before snorting. "Ya, I do not think that you are she."
I mocked winced and placed my hand over my heart. "You wound me, Mate." I didn't give him a chance to answer by looking at Thomas. "Any news from him?"
Thomas shook his head. "Don't worry, I want to be out of this town just as much as you." There was a growl underneath his voice, causing my Wolf to stir a bit, not liking that he was "challenging" me.
I snorted, hiding back a growl. "Well, I am sure that I am more ready to get out of this town than you are." I shuddered, hating the fact that I was so close to the pack that I had came from. I moved a hand through my hair before shaking my head, trying to get rid of the image of a helpless five year old girl, staring up at the monster that she called father.
Thomas shook his head. "No, we both are, Cousin," he replied. "Being here brings back too many memories." He shuddered and shook his head again. "I can't help but feel guilty..."
I bit back a scoff and rolled my eyes, knowing where he was going at. "I don't blame you, Thomas," I said. "Never have, never will. You were seven for fuck's sake, two years older than Katie and I."
"Yes, but you did something. You-"
"I did what I had to do to make sure that Katie would not throw away her Innocence," I said, saying that part louder when I heard the door open.
"Shit," someone muttered at the door when I looked over. The blonde hair, blue eyed female looked at me with wide eyes. There was a black eye on her face as well as a busted lip. She glanced down when she heard me growl. She whined, showing her neck in submission.
"Who. Did. It?" I asked, gritting my teeth together. I tried to control Payton, knowing that she wanted to attack the person that had done it. I turned away from them and tried to control my anger. My whole body shook, and I knew I was about to shift.
"B-B-Brandon," Katie stuttered. She was nervous, and I knew why. I was on the verge of shifting, and sometimes I couldn't control what happened when I did when both Payton and I got really pissed.
Sparks flew as someone touched me. "You need to relax there," my mate said. "Sure, I don't know you, and probably do not like you, but you are scaring your friends."
I grunted and took a deep breath, letting his scent cocoon around me. "Feelings are mutual," I grumbled out as he rubbed his hand up and down my back. I heard a small screech and opened my eyes to see an automatic owl looking at me, it's eyes red. "Get everything together and packed," I ordered Thomas. "Make sure that the others are ready to go, also. Katie, get a shower. We'll be leaving in a few. Thomas, you are in charge to make sure that everything is ready. You have five minutes."
"And you?" Thomas asked.
"I need to cool down before I kill a bitch." With that, I left the warehouse to run around the building a few times while they get ready. If Brandon even thinks about contacting me for "business" any time soon, let's just say that that bitch is going to down.
No one beats up my best friend and gets away with it.
