I followed Drake towards the house and caught sight of Thomas on the front porch, waiting for us. Worry and relief filtered through his eyes when he caught sight of me. His eyes travelled towards my neck, where I was sure that there were love bites, before looking at Drake and then travelling back to me. He kept his mouth shut, not pressing the issue that I knew he wanted to discuss. "So, there is hot water," he said, finally. "We don't have to fight for it, nor rig up something that will collect it."
"It's because it is a house," I replied, sarcasm dripping from my words. I looked him up and down to see that he was in newer clothing and not the rags that he had been wearing.
"It was stocked with clothes. Ben said that we could wear whatever is in there," he said, falling instep with me. "I'll show you your room." He gave me a pointed look, and I knew that he was wanting to talk about what happened when we split up.
I nodded, knowing we didn't have a choice. "We'll go shopping tomorrow. We don't want to wear out our stay." I glanced at Drake who stood at the door before looking away from his stoic mask. My face was blank, hiding the turmoil that I felt inside. I just couldn't talk to him about what had happened, because of my fear of rejection.
I knew that I was going to have to talk about it, but right now, I did not want to. I wanted to be selfish for the first time in my life, even if it meant that my mate didn't like my decision. He was mine, and I'll be damned if I let him go without a fight.
Thomas nodded his head and sighed. He made a signal that we would talk when we get into the safety of my new room and out of my mate's ears. "Thanks for opening the door for us, Alpha and giving us a stocked house. We really do appreciate it." He gave me a half glare, but I knew that he was teasing. "Even though, someone isn't going to say it."
I glared at him, my eyes flashing darker. I rubbed the back of my neck and turned to look to see that Drake was still holding the door, probably waiting to see if he should bolt or not. "Uh... ya... Thanks, I guess." I cleared my throat and quickly looked away. "Now, Thomas, where is this room that I'm supposed to be staying at?"
"The one with the best view," he replied. "Snitch picked it out."
I snorted at the thought of the six year old boy that decided to pick out my "room". "Ya, if he found that one, then why did he not pick it out for himself?"
Tommy shrugged. "He found one that had a car bed. He called dibs on that before starting to look at the other rooms." He frowned and scrunched his nose up in disgust. "He almost made me sleep in a closet."
"It's probably because you sometimes sound like you are gay," I teased, causing him to growl playfully. "And act."
"Shut up," he said, scoffing. "Do you want to come as well, Alpha?" he asked.
"No," Drake said. "The name is Drake." He held his hand for him to shake.
"Thomas, this idiot's cousin," Tommy said, shaking his hand. "And protective older brother."
"Nice to meet you... I'll get food started, if you want." The statement was directed to Tommy, but he was looking at me. I could feel it, even though I wasn't looking at him.
"That'd be fine. I need to talk to my idiot of a cousin, who usually cooks for us." Tommy smiled at me before grabbing my hand. "Excuse us." With that, he lead me away from Drake.
I looked behind me to see that Drake was staring at me with something in his eyes that I couldn't explain. I made sure that he could see the hurt and guilt that I was trying to hide before I walked up with my cousin. Let's hope he understands what I did when I did it.

"Um... can I speak to you... Ms. Skylar?" someone asked from behind me before Thomas could get me to my room. "Please? I-I just want to..."
I bit back a growl of annoyance and turned around to see a silver eyed and haired girl looking at me. I could smell the fear that was coming off of her, and I knew that she was afraid that I would be like the Alpha she had left. "It's just Skylar or Sky," I replied, coldly, earning a nudge from Tommy. I sent him an annoyed look, causing him to just grin.
"Would you stop? You are scaring her," Tommy hissed, amused. "I know you are a hard ass, but you can soften it up a bit."
I growled and huffed at him before looking at the female. I noticed that I was about a head taller than her 5'4 form, so I knew that she was a bit scared that way. "You don't have to call me "Ms. Skylar"," I said. "You are apart of this group, though I would've liked it if Tobias had told me. Now, what is it that you need?"
She moved on her feet and bit her lip. "First, I am Bernadette, but most people call me Bernie. Secondly, what did you do to my sister? She hasn't woken up yet." She shifted on her feet, and I could see that she was nervous. "Is she..?"
I shook my head no and sighed. "I might be "heartless", but I am not. There are some truths in lies while there are some lies in truths. Your sister is not going to die. What I gave her will heal any internal injuries that anyone had missed and make sure that she isn't pregnant. It'll boost up her appetite, so she can be at a healthy weight before she starts training."
Bernie paled and cleared her throat. "Pre-e-gancy?" she asked, stuttering. "T-t-training? For what?"
I shrugged. "There are some people that find it hard to believe that "Rogues" can travel in a group and not mean harm. There are, also, some Rogues that will attack us, so we have to be prepared. With the pregnancy, I am assuming that she had been... sexual assualted or something like that, and it is to make sure that she does want the baby if she has one."
Bernie frowned, her brow furrowing. "Is it safe?"
I nodded. "I have had... done it a couple of times and some of the females had chosen to have the child and some that chose not to."
"So, basically it's their choice. If they choose the child, where do they go?"
"We make sure that we have a couple of packs will take in members that do not cause problems and have a family," I replied. "I try to keep this small, so that I will be able to actually have money to feed."
"Where do the members usually go, that you have rescued?"
"There aren't any packs over here that we put Wolves in, because it is close to home for Sky, Katie, and I," Thomas said. "We can discuss that later, but right now, I need to discuss with my cousin as to what had happened." He smiled and nodded his head before leading me the rest of the way to my new room.
I turned back to look at Bernie and offered her a small smile. "I will check on your sister after we are finished."
"I will be in here, and Toby is in here, also," she called.
"Tell him he is in trouble, will ya?"
"Oh, I will."
I smirked and turned towards the way that we were going, because I knew that if I didn't pay attention, I would get lost.
