I shut my eyes slightly as the wind met my face causing a few strands of my short hair to tickle my forehead and brush over my eyebrows.

I couldn't help but wonder where the Commander was taking me. He had not once slowed his stead's fast pace. I could also no longer see the marching soldiers as we passed though the canopy of trees further into the forest.

I peered over Tyron's shoulder through the slits of my eyes trying to figure out where we were headed but all I could see was trees, trees and more trees, oh look a bird...

I was a little wary of our headed destination but Commander Tyron seemed to have a fixed idea of where we were going and he was adamantly pushing on. As I was about to voice my thoughts as to question him, we came to an abrupt halt causing me to knock into his back slightly creating a slight clang as my armour knocked into his.

He dismounted signalling me to follow. Sliding off the horse, I walked up to him noticing the gigantic tree before us. It could easily pass as the the tallest tree that I had ever set my eyes upon.

The Commander stood in front of, it gazing up towards the top before shifting his grey eyes to me.

"I am sure you must be confused as to why I have brought you here, but to put it simply, I need you to climb it." he pointed to the tree.

"I'm sorry, but I am rather lost. Why do you need me of all people to climb this tree for whatever reason?" I watched him expectantly, waiting a reply.

"Well as I'm sure that you have noticed, this is the tallest tree here. I need you to climb it in order to scout the area for potential threats. These woods are on the outskirts of the Western territories where I'm certain that you are aware of the fact that we are currently fighting a neighbouring kingdom that has been trying to seize control of this area. For all we know, we are not alone here."

"Fair enough but you did not answer why you need me, why can't you climb this tree yourself?" I asked slightly annoyed at why he dragged me all the way out here to do something that I was sure he was completely capable of doing himself.

"I figured that because you are a thief, you have more experience in climbing and scouting areas."

I had a strong feeling that there was another reason, sure I was good at climbing but you do not need to be an expert to climb a tree, well maybe you need a little experience to climb one of this caliber, but still.

"There is another reason, isn't there?" I voiced my thoughts.

He looked a little uncomfortable, perhaps embarrassed as he scratched the back of his neck what seemed almost nervously.

"Well...um... You see, I'm kind of afraid of heights." he looked away somewhat shameful of his confession.

I was a little shocked at this. He didn't peg me as someone to be afraid of heights or anything for the matter but I suppose at the end of the day he is human and all humans are bound to be afraid of something and now that I think about it, acrophobia is actually rather common.

"You could have just started with that you know instead of acting all weird." I shrugged it off showing him that I was not phased in the slightest. Truly he needn't be ashamed of his fear.

"Yeah, yeah whatever. Just get on with it." he huffed slightly causing me to let out a small chuckle.

I began removing my armour. There was no way I could climb with it on. Commander Tyron seemed to understand and didn't bother questioning me.

Now that I was unconstricted I walked up to the tree. Hoisting myself up to the first branch took a little effort as it was rather high off the ground but once I managed that bit, the rest of the climb was pretty simple.

My hair did however catch on a few branches every now and then adding leaves and twigs to it but for once I was grateful it was no longer long or this would be an absolute nightmare. My arms began tiring out as I reached the near top and my leg was starting to act up causing me to stop for a bit to catch my breath.

I looked down. The Commander was now a small speck standing at the base of the tree looking up, watching me as I climbed. When I finally broke free of the leaves on the utmost highest branch that could support my weight, I let out a small gasp.

The view before me was truly magnificent. I was slightly taken back. It was mid afternoon and I estimated it to be another hour or so before the sun would set.

I let my eyes rake over the surrounding area as far as they could see while posting full attention to the slightest of detail as not to miss anything. My eyes locked on small amounts of smoke rising a few kilometres north. It looked like it belonged to a small fire, the perfect size for a camp fire.

There was someone there. Maybe more than one person.

I quickly climbed down at fast as a could scraping my one arm slightly before landing on the ground again facing Commander Tyron. He was waiting for my report.

"Unfortunately Commander, little north of here I spot a campfire. Your suspicions were correct, we are definitely not alone." I said while quickly putting my uncomfortable armour back on.

"Right, we are going to head back now and gather a few men to go and investigate. I pray to the Lord that it is nothing serious so let us hurry." He turned and strode off to his horse with me following close behind. He seemed quite annoyed on the matter and I could tell when I made sure contact with him when he helped me back into his stead.

We took off again this time at a much faster pace until we reached the convoy but he did not stop there, he raced to the front, where the riders on horse back were stationed. I noticed Goneril riding next to Greg as we approached them.

Goneril eyed me slightly perhaps out of curiosity as to why I was with the Commander before turning his gaze towards Tyron.

"Goneril, Greg, something as come up that requires my attention. I leave you two in charge, continue on route as planned." he ordered.

"Sure thing Commander but just don't get yourself killed kid." Goneril spoke while Greg just nodded slightly.

Before we left the Commander pointed at two soldiers who were riding near us. "You two come with me."

Much to my dismay it was Jessie and Warren. Out of all men present he just had to chose them. We were soon off again. Surprisingly the two idiots were quiet for the whole journey.

When we started nearing the area, the sun had it's decent behind the horizon and it was getting dark. We had come to a stop and dismounted. The horses were tied up to a tree hidden amongst the ferns and trees.

Commander Tyron had said that we were to walk on foot from now on so as not to draw any attention. He had suggested that we were to split up and meet back at the horses in an hour, whatever happened we were told not to engage and under no circumstances were we allowed to be spotted and captured. It almost felt like we were going to steal something.

Warren and I had gone off to the left only splitting up later when we got closer. The other two had gone the other way.

I could clearly see the light emitting from the flames and I could here the sounds of people conversing. I noticed that there were four heavily armed guards patrolling the perimeter. I concluded that they were enemies due to the reason that they had a different kind of amour on.

I ducked quickly as one of the soldiers walked by. I noticed that there was a large tent set up in the middle of the campsite. It was not too big but it was the biggest one present. That is where the leader must have been. I needed to get closer.

Just as I was about to move when someone suddenly grabbed my shoulder. Acting reflexively, I pulled out my father's dagger from my boot and held it to their neck in record time. I was surprised to see Warren staring back at me with eyes wide on fright and hands held up in surrender.

"Calm down Prissy Guard it's just me." he whispered.

I slowly retracted my blade and placed it back in my boot glaring at him in the process. He was not supposed to be here with me.

Just as I was about to question and reprimand the chubby moron on his motives for being here with me, I felt the cold tip of a blade touch the skin of my neck. Any sudden movement and my head would be cut clean off.

I already knew who was behind me. It was one of the soldiers patrolling. Damn it. They obviously found us while I wasn't paying attention with Warren's sudden appearance.

"Well, well, well what do we have here?" I was shocked. It was a woman who had the blade to my neck.

I looked at Warren begging for help but it was like he was stuck in a trace as he gazed at the figure behind me. After a few seconds he thankfully recovered and spoke a few words that would cause me to face palm if I wasn't stuck in this predicament.

"Hey gorgeous. Since you are good looking and I'm good looking, let's make twenty-three babies together."
