8.

Once we had gotten back in to the truck, Nick seemed fidgety and nervous.

"You don't have to take me back to your house." I said. If he was going to react like this, maybe it was better he dropped me back home. I didn't want him to feel nervous and unready.

"No." He gruffed. "I've just never taken a girl back to my home. It's nothing much, so don't get your hopes up, I don't live in some golden trimmed apartment with floor to ceiling windows."

"Neither do I, you dick head." I rolled my eyes but smiled. Who cared where he lived? I was already honoured that I was the first woman who was going to see his home.

Nick chuckled. I enjoyed the sound, especially when he had been the way he was tonight.

"I'm just warning you, that's all."

"Is that it?" I questioned. He couldn't have just been worrying over the fact he thought his house wasn't good enough for me to see.

"Yeah."

"Is it?" I pushed further. He looked to me through the side of his eyes and sighed.

"This is a big step for me. You've quickly turned in to something more than what I've had with anyone else."

"In a bad way?" I had to ask.

"No. It's just going to take some time getting used to. I'm twenty eight, I should have had at least one serious relationship by now, but truth is, I haven't."

"Why?" Nick shrugged.

"Because I haven't wanted to spend more than one night with anyone else." My heart wanted to burst with joy. I had spent more than one night with Nick already, and here he was taking me back to his home.

I know I shouldn't let my hopes run too high, there was always a chance Nick was keeping me around for his sexual benefit rather than anything else, however, I had made it further than any other girl who spent the night with a Nick. To me, that meant something, at least.

"Lots of broken hearts, then." I replied. I hoped I wasn't another broken heart he could add to his jar. I hoped it would never get that far.

It was way too early to say I loved Nick. However, I really liked him and he was so easy to love. So so easy. I knew I wasn't the only one who wanted to spend more time with him, to want his attention.

I knew Nick had broken a lot of hearts. It was inevitable with him being the way he was and looking the way he did.

"They knew what they were getting in to. I never signified to them that I wanted more." He gave out a small, harsh laugh. "Not until I met you, anyway."

"Are you regretting wanting to take me home?" I turned in my seat to see him. He turned his head to gauge my reaction, to see how I felt.

All in all, I was just curious. It wouldn't hurt me now if he had told me we were going too fast for his liking.

"Sit back in your seat properly." Nick demanded as he drove through the country lanes. The car swerved as he sped down the narrow lanes.

"You haven't answered me, officer." I rolled my eyes again as I sat properly in my seat, like instructed.

"Don't call me officer." He growled. "Or I won't be accountable for my actions. You want to role play, Angel, I'll only be more than happy to oblige." With the thought of role play and seeing Nick handle the truck with control, I didn't think I had wanted anything more.

"Yes, please." Nick's hand shot out to squeeze my knee gently.

"No. You're too fragile for that at the moment. Besides, I thought we could just watch TV and eat?" He looked to me, his lip stuck in between his teeth. I couldn't stop looking at him. I wanted him, I wanted him more than I had before.

"What are we going to eat?" I asked.

"Cathy." Nick growled. I laughed.

"I was actually being serious this time." I giggled. He turned to me, his pearly whites on show as he smiled. He kept his eyes on me a little too long. I worried he'd crash the truck in to a tree if he wasn't careful.

"You're too beautiful." My smile dropped at his compliment. He had said things, but he had never complimented me so... naturally, without being sexual. My stomach flipped. I couldn't talk.

Nick laughed nervously as he scratched the back of his neck, something I realised he did when he was nervous or uncomfortable.

"Don't worry, I think you're pretty handsome yourself." I replied, wanting him to relax. He was always so confident in himself, it was different to see him so self conscious and nervous as he sat beside me.

Maybe I effected him more than I thought.

It wasn't long before Nick pulled his truck up along side the pathway. Beside us was a small block of flats. The flats seemed in the middle of no where, only trees and other cars parked around the building.

I hadn't noticed we were home until he started getting out of the truck.

"Wait there." Nick demanded. A few seconds later, he had opened my door and had helped me down from my seat. I looked to him and he shrugged. "It's never too late to be a gentleman." And I knew he had only been feeling guilty for what he did.

Still, the thought was there and I loved this side to him.

He then led me over to the door which led us to the inside of the building. There were lockers for your mail lining the wall beside us and a door that led us to the stairs on the other. In front of us was a small elevator.

Nick pressed the button and we waited for the elevator. He obviously lived on the top floor, or near to it, otherwise we wouldn't be using the lift.

A part of me was really excited to see Nick's place. It didn't help that I was kind of smug about the fact I was the only female to see it.

We entered the elevator a second later. The elevator was filled with mirrors which enclosed me as soon I stepped inside. I looked at myself and mentally cringed. I looked like shit.

Still, Nick didn't seem to agree as I caught him staring right at me. His eyes were full of appreciative satisfaction, something I hadn't really seen until now.

"Stop staring at me, you creep." I said to him, a huge smile on my face.

"Come here." And I didn't have to be told twice. I walked over to him and he enclosed me in his arms as the elevator began to move upwards.

"Nick." I sighed. I took in his scent and sighed again. He smelt so good, so masculine.

"I want to kiss you." He gruffed.

"What's stopping you?" I asked. I wanted him to kiss me, I wanted him to show me that he wanted me here.

Suddenly, before I had time to think, I was being pushed up against the wall. Nick's arms bracketed my body and I went limp against him.

Then, without another second going by, his lips were upon mine. His lips were soft against mine, and now he took his sweet time as he kissed me.

"I love kissing you." He stated. I felt the same, most definitely. There was something about kissing Nick. He knew exactly what to do and there was no denying that I could do it all day without tiring.

When the elevator pinged at it's stop, he left my body feeling bereft as he walked forward.

I followed him until we were in front of his front door. He opened it wide and led me inside.

I was surprised at his apartment. I half expected his apartment to be messy or at least a little untidy but the flat was spotless.

The sitting area was relatively medium sized, and was designed incredibly. The walls were a bright white and everything inside was a grey. It was modern and quite homely considering the colours.

"I love your place." I stated honestly. It wasn't big, yet he had done a lot to make it look so good. I truly did like it more than any place I had before.

"I'm glad you do." He shut the door softly behind me before taking hold of my hips between his hands. He pulled me towards him with force and I barrelled into his chest with a gasp.

"What are you going to do?" I asked. A part of me wanted to him to have me again. God knows I wanted him. Yet another part of me wanted to just spend time with him, to get to know him. I just wanted to get closer to Nick. There was nothing I wanted more.

"There are plenty of things I'd love to do with you tonight, Cathy, but I think we'll just settle for a film or something, what do you think?" He looked down at me, his eyes twinkling.

"That would be lovely."

Nick led me over to the sofa and I sunk down in to the grey material. Nick sauntered over to the open kitchen where I could watch him as he moved.

"Would you like a drink?" He asked.

"What have you got?"

Nick bent over to look in his fridge which was half the size of a normal one but still looked full. He then straightened up and looked to me.

"I've got beer."

"And that's it?" I asked. I was happy with a beer but I'm sure he couldn't just live off that. Didn't he have milk or bottled water?

"Uh...yeah." He looked sheepish as he flickered his yes back down to the fridge. I laughed.

"I'm happy with a beer."

"Ah, a woman after my own heart." He moved back to his fridge and grabbed two cold bottles of beer. He opened them with a bottle opener and sauntered his way back to me.

Nick sat beside me and laid his feet on the coffee table in front of him. His arm instinctively wrapped around my shoulders and I snuggled in beside him.

"Are you hungry?" Nick asked as he grabbed the remote and turned on the TV infront of us. It was a flat screen TV which was quite big and on top of an electronic fire place.

"I'm half and half really." I stated. He turned to face me and smiled.

"What does that even mean?" Nick chuckled. I shrugged but a large smile played on my face.

"It means I'm half hungry and half not." Nick chuckled again.

"Do you want me to order you something?"

"Will you think I'm greedy?" I had already had a burger and fries not so long ago, however, we had burnt off a lot of energy. It wasn't my fault I was peckish again. "I don't want to put you off."

"For eating? Babe, nothing could put me off you, especially you eating."

"Go on then." I smiled. "I'll have a pizza."

"I'm glad you said that." Nick got up from the sofa and picked up his mobile phone. He called the pizza delivery place and ordered a large pizza between us.

Once he was done, he came back to sit beside me. A crime series played on the TV infront of us. Nick went to turn it over yet I stopped him from doing so.

"I like this."

"Do you? I knew you had a thing for police officers." He stated as he looked to the tele with entertainment.

"I have a thing for one police officer." I smirked his way.

"Oh, yeah?" I placed my hands on his chest.

"Mmmhmm." I mumbled. Nick took a hold of my hands and held them still. I tried to move them, yet his grip was strong on mine.

"Don't." Nick growled. "Please."

"Why not?" I pouted. Nick let go of my hands and pushed me gently backwards. He laid on top of me.

"Because I'm trying to be good." Nick replied.

"I don't like you good."

"But it's what you deserve." He sighed. "I'm trying not to fuck this up before it has even started."

"I think you're doing fine." I smiled. More than fine. I hadn't expected this, not at all. Nick was completely different from the one I've seen before. I loved them both, but this one made me buzz with excitement and warmth.

"Well." He smiled his shy smile and I could have melted in to a puddle beneath him.

"Now, get off me you fat lump." Nick gasped mockingly at my demand.

"I have you know, I am muscly, not fat." He sat back down softly and I sat back up beside him. I snuggled back in to his warm body. It really was muscly. He had a typical, well shaped, police officer body.

I loved it.

We sat in silence for a few more minutes until Nick shifted beside me. The series was getting intense by now and I had finished my drink in minutes.

Once the pizza had arrived, we ate in silence again. The silence wasn't awkward, far from it as well. I felt comfortable with Nick, like we had known each other for years, not a few weeks.

Nick ate almost all of the pizza without giving me chance to eat even a quarter. I looked to him with annoyance, he just smiled back sheepishly.

"You've eaten all the bloody pizza, Nick." I moaned. "You're selfish." Nick laughed loudly.

"A man's got to eat, darling."

"No, a real man would make sure I ate, too." I crossed my arms and huffed.

"I'm sorry, baby." Nick pinched my cheek like a baby and I slapped his hand away. He chuckled but I didn't speak to him for at least ten minutes.

However, once we had made it to bed, my good mood had been restored. His room was small and cosy and once he had me cuddled up in his bed, his smell surrounding me, I was as good as new.

Once Nick had his head on the pillow, he was sleepy.

"Night, Nick." I whispered. I didn't think he would hear me. The lights were out and I felt his breath against my neck, now slow and even.

"Night, love." He mumbled.

-----

Nick took me home the next morning in his rattling truck. He had woken up happy and with a smile on his face... I felt the same as he looked.

It was amazing to wake up next to him, even with all the sexual tension.

I wanted to wake up like that more often.

Nobody had gotten under my skin like he had, and the way he treated me all night and morning, I'm sure I was crushing on him a little too hard.

But who could blame me?

I unlocked my front door slowly, feeling slightly embarrassed that I spent the night with Nick. Surely my dad was going to know.

Usually, I wouldn't be so embarrassed, but my father hadn't seen me for years, and Nick was his best friend. Things were going to be weird, I knew. But I couldn't stop myself from wanting to be around him.

I tiptoed in to the house, hoping Nick didn't catch on to what I was doing. However, I didn't think he did as he walked loudly in his police man boots.

So long to keeping quiet.

Anyway, Nick was already for work. It was deeply satisfying to dress Nick in his uniform even when I wanted to take it all off. However, I knew Nick still wanted to show me that I meant more to him than just a fuck.

I was grateful.

The next thing I knew, my father was walking in to the hall way. He smiled my way and I couldn't help but blush.

Did he know what I had been up to?

"Nick, you bastard." Glenn flicked his wrist and the tea towel in his hand whipped against Nick's face. Nick didn't even flinch.

"Glenn, so very nice to see you." Nick smirked. "I hope you had a wonderful evening last night."

"Don't give me that bullshit. What did you do with my daughter?"

"Treated her right, Glenn, you know me."

"Yes, I do know you and that is what worries me."

"Well, you needn't worry, I got her back in one piece." Glenn looked towards me again and then flickered his eyes back to Nick.

"Come in then."

Nick and I made our way inside of the living room and Nick sat down in his usual chair.

"Is there any coffee going?" Nick shouted as Glenn moved around in the kitchen.

"Come and make it yourself, you lazy fuck. You know where everything is." Nick chuckled before getting up. He passed me with a soft hand to my back before going in to the kitchen.

I followed him, not quite knowing what to do with myself.

It seemed Nick felt more at home here than I did yet. I was hoping that would change soon.

Nick moved around the kitchen and made himself a cup of coffee. I watched his body move with grace around the area.

Once Glenn had moved out of the kitchen, Nick flickered his eyes to me. He laid his coffee cup back down on the counter and sauntered his way up to me.

He pulled me to his body and grinded himself up against my front. I gasped.

"I've got work in ten, what are you going to do all day?" He asked as he continued to grind against me. I could barely breathe.

"I'll probably help my dad out at work." I stated back. Nick kissed my forehead.

"You'll think about me?"

"Nah." I joked. Of course I was going to think about him, I had since I met him.

"You will." Nick demanded. "Because God knows I'll be thinking of you."
