"Are you sure that WolfsBane isnt still meddling with your mind?" Kaden asked for the tenth time in under 3 minutes, leaning against the wall staring as if I had grown horns.
I grit my teeth, getting slightly ticked off. "No but you are right now and I swear I might just rip your balls and staple them to your forehead if you don't shut your damn crap hole."
Maya barks laughing, standing up and wiping her hand on a rag. "There done. Have a look."
I rose from the chair, sitting upright, my wrist stinging and slightly numb. Just when I was about to rub the area, Maya grabbed my other wrist. "Don't touch it or itch it. The skin needs to heal and you doing what I think you were about to isn't going to help."
For a such an agile looking lady, I had to say she had a grip like a wrestler. "What's that for?" My voice cracked, gone hoarse from lack of water.
"A mild dressing for the skin. Take it off after about 2 hours, for the skin to breath." She said, wrapping a clear, cling-wrap sort of plastic around the tattoo.
The tattoo was of the SilverRose Crest, like I had told earlier. It was of a large silver rose, outlined in black with an elegant black feather tucked behind, but still appearing above the rose with a single green petal under.
The bulb of the rose was on my inner forearm but the feather traced itself around my wrist, inches away from my pinky finger. I got it done on my left hand, "accidentally" on the place where I should've gotten the RedBlood Crest. Despite Kaden having his on his right, he had informed me earlier of females receiving theirs on their less dominant hand, like the tradition said. BS? I know.
My heart was racing, not only from the throbbing of the tattoo but also from where the IV bruise was. Unfortunately for me, I had two bandages on the same hand and also only centimetres apart. The pale bandaging of Dr.Rossi along with the bandaging of my new tattoo from Maya, would take a lot of explaining to my brothers, especially all in one day. Sucks to be me, I guess.
"There. Done." She patted lightly, smiling like the Cheshire Cat again. She stood up and so did I, only to fall right back down.
"Ouch." My head spun, my legs limping from sleepiness. She rose a eyebrow before hollering out to Kaden to get his ass in here. Her smooth voice came as a slur to my ears but I guessed it was just me. Muttering to himself or to whoever, he strode in wearing a scowl and a phone pressed to his ear. His eyes fell on me after regarding Maya for about a second.
"Yes it's over and I'm taking her back right now," he murmured, drinking again from his flask. Even his figure was coming out to blurry to recognize, but his voice confirmed it was indeed him.
"Yes, I know. Goodbye Damon." He disconnected during the call angrily. "What is it now?"
"The Alpha's Mate needs help," she hummed gesturing to me with a flick of her head while striding right past him on her way out, disappearing out the door frame. Before hearing another thing, I winced from a sting starting in my head and before I knew it I was effortlessly being lifted into someone's arm and walking out the door frame.
Kaden never paused to pay but just left out the main door, pressing it open with his shoulder.
"You forgot to-"
"Save your breath," he snapped. The guards were no where to be seen as Kaden gently placed me to my feet just outside the car door. He pulled the door open wide and helped me in without saying another word.
He locked the door shut before I could ask him about the payment and just when I was to yell at him to open the door, the same handful of guards returned; some sober and some sweaty feverish looking.
"Round up boys. Time to leave," he said, lighting a cigarette by his mouth. I rolled my eyes as the guards regrouped and stuffed themself in the SUVs. Minutes later, Kaden also hops in, flickering his cigarette butt out the window. I cleared my throat before I could speak but Kaden beat me to it.
"Yes I did pay for the tattoo," he muttered, starting the engine, and merging into the driving lane. "Even left a tip in your name."
"You did?" I say, "I didn't see you."
"If you want to know how much the tattoo was, just ask Damon. It was his credit card." He smirked deviously, leaving me in horror.
"His cred-," "Yep. His card and his call when I arrived in, just so if you're wondering," he scrunched his nose as he winked, his smirk blazing on with no end in sight and his eyes twinkling with amusement. That was all it took to silent me. I leaned back tiredly, my lips pursed tightly. "Need something to drink?"
"Of course," I perk cheerfully, "If it were poison or chlorine, then that would be great."
"Out of luck darling," he announced glumly, reaching into a cooler by his passenger side. "But here's this."
He tosses a plastic water battle back which I catch mid-air. Muttering thanks, I peel open the lid and drink a large gulp just to instantly spit it out. I drank more than half of it but still splatters of water or whatever it was came flying out.
"What in earth was that?" I exclaim, examining the bottle and label. I glance at Kaden to see him trying to hold back his laughter. His unusual blend of color for his eyes now spiced with mischief.
"Refreshing enough?" He prodded, widening his eyebrows.
"Screw you Kaden," I cuss, just to make him smirk more.
"Delighted, and just a tip for the future. Not everything in this Pack is as it sees," he informs. "Especially if given by moi here, then it never really is."
"Thanks for the heads up but seriously what is this?" I ask. The colour was clear like water but was anything but water. Its sour-ish aftertaste still lingering on the tip of my tongue.
"Vodka, what else?" He said as if it were the most obvious explanation. "Have you never drank in your life?"
"No!" I retort, sealing the lid. "Never-ever."
"Figures," was all he replied. "Damon's got himself a good girl."
"Haven't you heard. Good girls are bad girls who haven't been caught yet," I quote proudly from a post I saw on Instagram.
He merely scoffs. "Bad girl my ass. I bet you haven't done anything bad in your life."
"I have!" I explain, rising my voice. "I've-." My tongue itched for the right word. "I've slipped out in the middle of the night, ALONE." I say confidently, making him frown at me.
"For what? To buy ice cream?" He sneered. "Or to rescue a stray puppy on the verge of starvation? To punish litterers?"
"No. To go to a friend's house." I shrug. He studies me carefully from the rear mirror.
"A guy's house?" He inquired, I shake my head. He shone his million dollar smile, satisfaction getting to his senses.
"Then you're good." He concluded. "Becuase you didn't go to have se-"
"Shut up. Shut up. Shut up," I sing, covering my ears cheekily. He laughed for a bit before silencing himself. The memory of me slipping out at the age of 14 just so I could to Lia's house for a sleepover churned my stomach. I missed her. Not only her but everyone back home. Xavier, Ryan, Zayn, Lia, Jordan, Angel, Mia, Christina, every last person.
I gaze outside to see the weather starting to deteriorated, the once clear sky now covered with a grey sheet. The wind started to twirl and play with the remaining leaves left on the trees, as the trees whistled. The outside weather perfectly symbolized my inner feelings.
"How long till I'm back home," I ask, my voice quivering from home-sickness and body sulking against the seat.
"It's a 3 hour route to your brothers borders, and then a 45 min drive from here to their house but it could be delayed because of this damn weather," he said sighing. "Make yourself comfort. It's gonna be a long drive."
Those were the last words I could make out before my eyes grew heavy and I dissolved into my own world of darkness.
.....
"Wake up Sleeping Beauty," Someone singed as I rubbed my eyes tiredly. I rise from against the window, stretching my arms and muffling a yawn, to see Kaden smiling. "Awake at last?"
"What's the time?" I yawn, totally ignoring Kaden. I was about to pull my phone out from the pocket of my cardigan when Kaden replied.
"1:25," he said. I stare back out. The sky nearly pitch black and was crying, the raindrops pounding against the windshield and while the wipers worked furiously to wipe them away, they just became soaked again. It looked like it was midnight.
"We cleared entrance to your Pack about 40 mins ago," he added. To be perfectly honest, I didn't know what he was talking about till after I opened my eyes completely but when I did, I was hopping.
"Really?! Oh my god. How do I look?" I take my phone out and put the camera on. I brush my hair back, staring at my mini reflection. My eyes were hollow and cheeks were pale. I pinch them softly to regain the colour back.
I hear Kaden grumble something in a different language-most likely Italian- but I ignore him as always. Not soon after some fancy familiar silver gate with silver plated roses glued to the bottom, appeared.
My chest heaved from every breath I inhaled and butterflies formed in the pit of my stomach. Expecting to see a SUV in front of us, I then -suddenly- noticed the other two SUV's weren't here with us.
"They weren't cleared access," he muttered after seeing my face. We approached the gates at a slow, calm pace which wasn't very Kaden-like to me.
"What's got your panties in a twist now?" I tease playfully, making his scowl deepen. I was home. Home.
The doors -like always- popped open (motion sensitive) and we rode in to the blissful place I once called home. I smile sadly, already feeling my stomach drop for when I'll have to leave tomorrow. I wanted to stay.
Just as I predicted, before Kaden could even park the car by the front porch for me to step out, Ryan, Mia, Angel, and Xavier were standing out beforehand. I could've cried from the sight of them, but I decided to make a strong appearance, so they could know, I wasn't weak anymore. I had become a Luna.
Kaden didn't kill the engine nor does he say anything for first few second but however. When I about to step out he said, "I'll be back at 1:30 sharp tomorrow to pick up. Don't be late."
He emphasized the last line by placing pauses in between, to tell he was serious. I nod and open the door. "Thank you for everything Kaden, I mean it."
He also nodded in reply to show he heard. "Warning. Don't get so comfy. Helps with the hormones."
"Got it," I note and he flashes a genuine boyish smile, with no hidden meaning. "Have fun kiddo."
I leap out and dash to the front porch where my family was trying to prevent myself from getting wet. Just when I landed a step on the porch, I was squeezed together by my two brothers.
"Hey hey. God, I'm here! Calm do--OUCH!" They withdrew their hands from instantly, surveying me gravely for a cause of pain. I clutched my bandaged hand quickly, trying to cover it with my hands but it was too late.
"What happened to you?" Ryan was the first to exclaim, looking at me with his face clearly hurt. He took my left hand lightly, and carefully -to not hurt me even more.
"Did Damon do this, becuase if he did-" Xavier threatened dangerously, using his Alpha tone making him even more deathly.
"He didn't do this Xavier," I growl impatiently. June's reigns were growing on me so I couldn't help it. Ryan and Xavier looked astonished from my outburst like they never saw it coming. Their eyes widened and mouths hanging.
"I'm sorry," I whisper afterwards. Mia came around to me from behind. "June's just got more ....possessive about him lately." I confess sadly, tears welling my eyes.
"It's alright," Ryan was the first to recover from the shock. "We should've acted rationally. He's your Mate." He glared at Xavier for help, but he refused too.
"What happened?" Mia spoke softly, laying a hand on my shoulder.
I smile and lay my other hand on hers. "Sort of a long story but what I can say for sure, it was a mistake. Its just an IV bandaging," I say gesturing to the white bandage.
"What's that clear bandaging for?" Angel asked from behind Ryan. She was in high waist jeans with a loose mint sweater over and black ankle boots.
"Nora? Is that a tattoo?" Xavier asked wildly, glaring darkly at me. I glance at Mia for help but found none. I chewed my lower lip, searching for a reply. Where's Christina when you need her?
"Hey, where's Christina and Zayn at?" I ask abruptly after learning they weren't here. Ryan's and Angel's face dropped and they exchanged looks. Xavier tensed up and Mia looked as if she were about to cry.
Th atmosphere shifted abruptly, leaving a question mark hanging silently between us all.
"What happened?" I ask, looking at them for an answer. I felt the tears coming back but before they like even form, Ryan had me in his arms. I hug him, inhaling his heavenly scent; his expensive cologne hovering over his shirt while snuggling my fingers through his hair.
He eventually pulls away, when someone -most likely Xavier- clears their throat. "What happened?" I wiped my eyes with the sleeve of my cardigan.
"Come on in first Nora. You'll catch a cold," Angel said, ushering me in quickly and locking the door shut.
I couldn't be more happy to be home. "Come on to the kitchen everyone! I made chocolate covered crêpes. Just how Nora likes them." Angel said, pushing me down the hallway to the kitchen.
I smile faintly, happy to her see her smiling at least. Ryan and Xavier hovered in the back with Mia ahead of them but behind us. I soon entered the place where I had once burned -I was 11, give me a break!- while attempting to make pancakes. I grin from the memory but soon it dissolved as I take a seat on the bar stools with Ryan by one side and Mia by another.
Angel brings over a large dinner plate containing about 15 chocolate cover crêpes while wearing her favourite owl print apron that I gifted her when Ryan brought her home.
"First tell me what happened. Where's Christina and Zayn right now?" I ask, my voice trembling from the possibilities. The smell of food churned my stomach.
"They're both upstairs," Ryan sighed, making me slightly relieved. I thank the gods above but after seeing Ryan struggling to form the next line, I frown.
"There was an incident after you left," he spoke softly, his voice heavy with thought, sounding like the doctors about when they break bad news.
"Are they okay?" My voice comes out smaller than I anticipated.
"Rogues attacked right after you left. They-," his voice trailed off, but I had filled in the lines myself.
"They were suppose to get me," Xavier cut in while squeezing his eyes. "But instead they got Christina."
I gasp so loud that I'm surprised I haven't fallen of my chair. Ryan looked up and so did Mia. She hung an arm around me in comforting way like she thought it would help.
"Shes alright now," Mia added with a slight hopefulness to her tone. "She's making a fast recovery. The blood loss might have delayed the process a bit, making her weak but not to worry. She's fighting like the fighter she is."
Her words were -sadly- not enough for me. I had to see her with my own eyes to be the judge of that. "How about Zayn? Where's he?"
"He-" Mia started with hope which eventually evolved into sorrow and made her eyes glassy. "He's-"
"He's also making a recovery." Angel added, filling in for her, "But a bit slower one."
"Why?" I cry, already hiccuping from my tears that were bubbling.
"Those Rogues did more damage to him. He shifted and fought one until he accidentally let his guard down and they took advantage of that," Ryan huffed as he was angry with himself. As if he blamed himself for his current condition.
"Is the baby alright?" I could feel the tears falling down my pale cheeks and my heart constricting with every beat.
"They're both fine," whispered Angel, patting my hand. "Now eat. I swear your getting skinnier by the day."
A sound crossed between a hiccup and laugh erupted from my throat. "You just saw me yesterday."
I used a finger to run under my eye. "And we've missed you since then," Ryan remarked happily, -his arm swinging around me in attempt to bring me closer.
"Ouch," my hand goes flying onto my neck protectively, while pushing Ryan away with the other hand.
"What's wrong?" Ryan said, sounding not so great again. His voice deepen and fell a few degrees, as if he were using his Alpha tone to question me.
"Nothing," I shake my head, trying to move away from the table and their concerned faces. Before I could offer my explanation, someone had roughly twirled my bar stool around from behind.
I nearly fall off if it weren't for Xavier's arm around my waist. He avoided my eyes and tilted my head to the right gently while brushing my hair back. Squeezing my eyes shut, I wish I could turn back time.
I hear him suck in his breath and when I open them I see Ryan exchanging glances with him, his eyes drooping with sadness. Seconds fly, and I brush Xavier's hands off my neck and waist. My gaze tore away from his, too scared to face him eye to eye.
It was as if time was been reversed. No one spoke nor did everyone move. Everyone stood perfectly still. I wish I could crawl right back into my bed and forget this all like it was a nightmare, with hope that I'd wake up to a beautiful sunny day.
"Congratulations on your mark," Xavier spat bitterly, before storming out of the room.
My neck suddenly felt exposed without my scarf, and while bearing his mark upon my skin, -for the first in my life since after my parents death, I felt alone. ..... Hey Owl..,
Hope you would like this chapter. It was written a while ago but I rushed to edit it and post it for you guys this week.
