"God. How long has it been!" Christina asked a little to impatiently. She brushed her hair back gracefully before waving Mia's hand away from her shoulder irritatingly.
Ryan was leaning against the wall with his head down and arms tightly crossed, his focus and eyes unwavering from ground. He seemed lost in his own world where be blamed himself alone for her condition.
His crisp coat had rows of wrinkles running down in lines and his once perfectly white shirt now stained with drops of blood. I give his shoulder a tight squeeze while showing a tight smile when he looked up. He didn't return it but instead looked questioningly at me.
I couldn't find any words I wanted to share or either comfort Ryan with, unaware of how he might take them. My smile loosened and I drop it completely after a moment.
His head dropped along with mine, our words both too consumed with grief to even exchange.
"Christina," Mia said, "It's been 5 minutes only since the doctor arrived and that doors been closed."
"So?" She asked. "It's been 5 minutes of pin drop silence and I don't handle silence well, you know that."
Mia rolled her eyes tiredly, while Zayn tighten his arm from around her waist to pull her back. She fumbled back into his chest but that didn't alarm Zayn even the slightest. He rested his chin in the crook of her neck where her shoulder met the end of her neck, inhaling deeply.
Mia caught on and caressed his cheek with one hand while the other wrapped his hand from around her waist. Seeing them like this, I knew Ryan was probably feeling worse without his Mate around him but I couldn't blame Zayn either.
Christina was attacked upon already and now was Angel. Even if the first one was an attack and this an accident, the damage was almost equal. Mia was left the only one unharmed. I didn't know to categorize that as good or not. I was praying for first.
Xavier was lost, leaving everyone but himself present in the hallway to Angel and Ryan's room.
I was about to ask about his whereabouts when the door sung open. Dr.O'Brien appeared ruffling his hair while his pearly eyes shone with delight especially after eyeing Ryan leaning against the wall next to the door.
"How is she?" Ryan rose quickly, looking almost desperate for reply.
His smile curved up. "She's fine now. Nothing major. Just a gash above her left eyebrow from the impact of the stair but nothing else to fuss about."
Ryan left out a heavy breathe of relieve as if he was holding it for too long. "Thank god."
"Wait," I said, also rising from against the wall to be next to Ryan. "If its nothing to fuss about then why are you smiling so much? I know it's good to smile but at a time like this? Do you find it amusing?"
Ryan looked from me to him grimly, his face hardening at the sight of his grin.
"Oh no. Certainly not Luna," he said. "Forgive me. I haven't given my congrats yet on two very important pending matters. One is for you Nora, on becoming the Luna of the RedBlood Pack. I couldn't attend the marriage to give my congrats so forgive me again."
This time I roll my eyes. It wasn't like my marriage was the Top 10 list of 'The Marriages of Year', so why even bother?
"And what was second thing you were going to give your congrats for Dr.O'Brien?" Mia asked, looking past my eye roll.
"Oh that," he laughed. "That congrats was for Alpha Ryan."
"Me?" He asked gingerly. "Why? What have I done?"
Dr.O'Brien chuckled. "Congratulations Alpha Ryan. Luna Angel is pregnant."
"What!" Mia, Christina and me squealed in union, making Dr.O'Brien gleam towards us. Zayn simply rose an eye at Ryan -who staggered a step back, looking as if he were about to cry.
"Can I see her?" Ryan asked, looking even more desperately at him than before.
"Of course! No need to ask me," he laughed, slapping Ryan's arm cheerfully like an old pal. Ryan, displaying his cute boyish smile, ran a hand through his hair before breaking into a sprint towards the room.
Mia, Zayn, Dr.O'Brien, Christina and me, trickled in following Ryan and watched as he dashed to Angel's side to help her rise against the head board. She had a small rectangular bandage just above her left eyebrow like Dr.O'Brien had informed.
"Oh I'm fine Ryan, nothing to worry about," she assured him as she laid a kiss on his cheek. "It's nothing much."
"Nothing much?" Christina scoffed. "Girl, you went tumbling down half a flight of stairs like tumbleweed and you say you're fine and it's nothing much!"
"She's right!" Mia exclaimed, pushing Zayn away from behind as he tried to lay a kiss on Mia's cheek. "You could've seriously been injured."
"Not injured as much as me right now," Zayn grumbled under this breathe. Mia shone her eyes tiredly at him.
"I'm fine everyone! Really," she spoke with an incoming yawn. "Just tired."
"You get some rest," Ryan ordered her strictly, drawing the sheets closer. He helped her lay back down and drew the sheets more closer. "Sleep with me," she requested softly, grabbing Ryan's arm lazily.
"Of course," he lowered his lips and kissed her forehead, before helping himself under the sheets with Angel. She snuggled closer and rested her head and arm on his chest as she doze off.
"I guess we'll leave you two love birds now," I say happily dragging Christina's arm on my way out.
"Hey hey hey. Hold up. Don't use protection!" she called as I shut the door on my way after everyone disappeared except for me and Christina.
"Oh shut up," I refrain. "I doubt she need any tips from you."
"Oh you never know," she smirked. "Xavier is the sex god with me his sex goddess. Anyone can learn a tip or two from us." She winked.
"Ew," I cringe. "He's my brother. Don't give me any images I dont need."
She hollers out laughing, while I start to walk away. "I definitely need a cold shower hearing all that."
She laughs some more. "Cold shower huh? So you like it cold? Interesting," she says to herself.
I walked away to the last room on my right, which I was happy to see left exactly as I had left it just last year.
Funny how time moves, I tell June, seeing my old beanie pillow scrunched in the corner with my musty stack of books framing the wall around it with my limit edition coffee mugs around the shelf with its correct kingdom.
Oh of course. It was just like yesterday we were dying to meet our Mate and now were dying to get the hell away from him, she taunted me.
I frown. It wasn't my choice to come here.
Whose was it then? She asked thoughtfully. Wasn't mine certainly. Was it ours?
I-I, I stop. I couldn't come up with an answer. Was it my choice? Christina, Angel, Mia never asked and nor did Zayn.
Xavier clearly didn't want me here, so why was I still here?
I don't know June, I confess. I honestly don't know what I'm doing here. I shouldn't be here; no one wants me here either.
So what now? What's your plan?
I could talk to Mia-
No no no, she sung. I'll tell you what you now. You're gonna shower, and dress up and then march up to Xavier, asking him why he's acting like an ass towards you.
June, I sigh. Ill do the first two things on that list but you can scratch the last part.
I grab a towel and head to shower for that old shower I was referring to earlier to Christina. After concluding that my thoughts were nicely suppressed, I step out with dripping hair.
I changed into an old baseball t-shirt that was starting to fray from one sleeve's hem with clean jeans and boots with as limited heels as I could find my old closet. Unfortunately, they were all high heeled, -well maybe because all my brothers were skyscrapers and I wasn't. It couldn't be any clearer than that.
I chuck the rag like dress into the laundry basket happily, hoping Id never see anything like that again. I saved the heels and bra though, cause that stuff is expensive as hell. I know I'm a Luna but still. I'd rather die than waste money on shit like that. I already waste so much on feminine products each month, so why waste more?
I'd save for something more reasonable like for a Range Rover or trip to New York or maybe Charlie's chocolate factory. The possibilities were endless. I got ready after applying some clear lip balm and wearing some simple studs with my old Pandora bracelet.
I stroll out and begin my search for Xavier or any other human presence who'd like to have a little chat with.
I trail down the narrow corridor and foyer, into the dining hall where I found Christina seated on the bar stool munching on a family sized bag of Munchies, with Xavier on his laptop in the living room next door.
He had turned the coffee table to his own personal desk, with his papers strewn and hanging over the edges of the table. One or two were even on the ground. Xavier wasn't like this. He was always the most organised one.
His old desk back home had colour coded baskets in which papers were sorted in and labelled drawers for each of his supply.
"Hey Christina," I feign a smile, looking at her. I noticed Xavier hadn't even risen an eye to acknowledge me.
Her twinkling curious eyes rose and rested on me. "Oh hi Nora."
"How are you?" I ask, taking the next empty stool next to hers.
"Oh fine I guess. This eating for two was really getting on me," she commented, rubbing her belly. "I've always eaten a lot but I don't really need to say cause, well, you can obviously tell."
I smile and lower my head. "You still look great regardless of you're eating a lot more or for two."
She returns the grin, popping a pretzel into her mouth munching it savorily. "Um Christina," I sigh, "I-I-"
"What is it Nora?" She asked with a mouthful of munched up Cheetos, shaking her hand on her tights. This was going to be harder than I thought.
"Hey Nora," Zayn interrupts, walking in with Mia wrapped in his arm. I turn around to see them and also get to see Ryan carrying Angel in as well.
"Hey guys," I say trying not to sound disappointed. I didn't want them all here, too much drama.
"What's up? You were saying something before we showed up weren't you?" Ryan raised an eyebrow, and gently placing Angel to her feet.
"Um yes," I twirl with the bracelet around my wrist. The cold sweat that was clinging to my skin was starting to spot my vision, I was almost faint. "It was about the war you declared with Damon's Pack." I say in a innocent voice softly, eager to see the reaction.
The reaction I got was as expected. Everyone grew silent and paused to stare at each other. The bag in Christina's hand nearly slipped from the mention of Damon's name, while Angel's breath got tangled in her windpipe, making her cough. Ryan immediately grasped the nearest glass of water and pressed it against her lip, forcing her to drink.
"What about it?" Xavier said surprising us all. He was leaning on the curved threshold to the dining hall. The light from the ceiling chandelier basked off his face, giving it a radiant as well as a neutral shell. His voice was neither angry or teasing: just curious, which I found odd.
I rose my chair. "Is it possible for you to end it? The war."
"Maybe," he tilted head in a thinking manner. "Is it possible for you to end your relationship with him?"
"What type of question is that?" I ask, slightly taken back by this question. My fist naturally curled into a fist by my side. "You know the answer to that."
"I want to hear it from your mouth though," he said, thrusting his hands into his pocket. "Is it or is it not?'
I inhale from my nose gradually. "No."
"But," I also add, "You were the one to join it in the first place. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have even known him, let along even live with him. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have even been married to him. If you're planning on pinning me for the reason all this, it isn't going to happening."
"I never said I was pinning all this on you Nora," he said gravely, moving closer towards me.
"Then why even ask that?' I accuse, throwing my hands up. "If pinning this stupid war on me was your plan, why even ask if my relationship with him was breakable when you clearly know it isn't! It isn't my fault nor is it his that we're Mates. It also isn't neither of our fault if you, or if anyone, had or has a feud with him! Even that dumb accident wasn't yours to blame on him but somehow you managed to find a way too. When will you get it Xavier, it wasn't your business to prod in but yet to choose too for some reason!"
I look him dead into the eye.
"Nora," he said in a softer tone, stroking my cheek with the tips of his fingers, pulling my eyes to his. Someway, he had found his way from the threshold to me in under a few seconds flat. My eyes were starting to well with tears. Not from sadness, but anger. "If your relationship with him is just as unbreakable as you make me believe than trust me. This war is too."
"But-" I step back from his arms, "I never made you believe our relationship is unbreakable. I-I just said it wasn't."
He studied my expression with great curiosity. "Nora, the way you were taken back by my question and how you reacted, told me everything I need to know." He brushed a loose bang behind my ear.
"Which was?" My eyes widening, hoping he didn't get the wrong meaning.
His smile curved up to the point where it resembled a grin. "It means my dear sister, you," he grasped my shoulders gently. "are on the early stages of falling in love."
"No no no no no no no," I chant pushing his hands off once and for all.
"What?" he asked.
"No!" I exclaim. "Just no. Just. NO! Anything but that." I threaten with a wave of index finger before slamming it down.
"Its not a bad thing. Feeling attracted to your Mate." he said seriously. "Im serious."
"I got that part," I snort, "But say another phrase like that again and I'll be compelled to castrate you."
"Oh really?" He smirked. "All ready learning threats from your darling Mate?"
"Learning?" I say with fake dismay. "I'll show you learning when you wake up the morning with your testicles in a mason jar next to the milk in the refrigerator!"
"Sorry to rain on your parade but I am expecting for more than 5 kids, so doing that might terminate my future and in that case I'll be forced to terminate Damon's junk and you can see where I'm going with this," Christina said flatly while Xavier was too busy staring at me if I were a threat to his man parts.
"Well I highly suggest he keep his mouth shut if that were the case," I mumble. " S-" Ding dong. Ding Dong. Ding Dong.
Before I could finish my line, the front door bell went off in a round of three rapid shots. I guess I had to wait cause apparently someone couldn't hold their crap hole any better than me. Zayn hopped off the chair alarmingly and went rushing to the door. Ryan -after planting a kiss on Angel's cheek, also raced after him down the hallway to the front.
Mia rose and walked to Christina and asked if she was expecting anyone but she simply shook her head 'no' in reply. Christina asked Angel and she also shook her head. Mia saw and shrugged, starting to munch on the Munchies, offering me but I declined.
Whoever it was, no one was expecting them and that wasn't a good thought. This was our personal family farmhouse where hardly anyone was ever allowed especially business or Pack related. You could say this was our vacation house in a way.
My nails start digging into my palm from the pressure of my fist. I take a seat feeling a sort of uneasy feeling in my guts. Whoever it was, had something to do with me. What else could it to be?
Ryan returns with Zayn in behind, both sharing concerning frowns. "Who was it?" I ask them both, rising from the chair with a hand on the table for support.
The chatter from the Mia and Christina had died down and their attention was diverted to us.
"What happened Ryan?" Angel tried asking, stroking his chocolate brown hair.
"It's for you Nora," He finally said, pushing Angels hand away.
"Xavier had called the Beta of RedBlood Pack to take you home apparently," Zayn grumbled.
"What!" "Huh?" "Hold up!"
Christina was the loudest from the three. "Hold up just a sec! Who called that jackass here?"
"Christina language," Angel warned wearily.
"Who's else would do a thing like this? The one and only Xavier," Zayn retorted. "It's not like he shares anything anymore."
"No wonder he disappeared faster than the Flash the second the bell came," Ryan realized, rolling his eyes to Zayn.
"Oh don't you worry. There's no place in this planet, heaven or hell where he can hide from me," Christina shouted, shooting like a tornado into the living room so fast that the papers from the coffee table went flying.
"I wouldn't be Xavier for all the money in the world -especially right now," Mia hung her head.
"What does Kaden want?" I say hoarsely. Somehow my throat had found a way to dry up despite me doing nothing.
"He-"
"Well. For Starters, he'd preferably like if Nora could kindly gather up her pretty ass and hall it all the way down to the car, just in time for them both to make it back before sun dusk."
We all flip our head before he could take the first step in. "Kaden! What are you going here?" I scream, pushing Zayn and Ryan aside from my way.
"I though my dialogue said it all. Did it not?" He asked, examining the walls. "Nice place but I'd prefer it with-"
"With rows and rows of antique tequila bottles on the wall with empty whiskey bottles littering the floor and maybe a girl or two's lace pantie and bra set hanging from the chandelier?" I wonder thoughtfully, approaching him cautiously.
"Someone's seems to be finally understanding," he muttered approvingly, walking behind me while inspecting the living room.
I roll my eyes with disgust. Remind me to never to go to his house, I inform June -who releases a sigh of joy.
"Can you give me five minutes at least?" I almost beg.
"Um let me see---" he thought for no more than 30 seconds. "No."
"Fuck you," I curse, facing him with burning eyes. He scoffed before bending to grab me from my lower half, throwing me over his shoulder like a sack of flour. I couldn't comprehend anything before it actually happened.
"Hey!" I exclaim, furiously beating his back. "Put me down! RYAN! ZAYN!"
They watched at first and then even took a step forward to help but something made their mind change halfway. They stopped in their tracks, watching me sadly being carried away. Mia, and Angel rose and began to follow until their Mates held their wrist back.
I was out of the hallway when I heard their petty voices trying to comfort and explain to them. I was taken out and dropped next to the door of the SUV.
"There we go," he said as he let me on the ground. I nearly tripped the second my boot hit the cement but Kadens grip on my waist was stronger than it appeared. "Careful," he whispered near my ear, his hands uncomfortably squeezing on my waist. His mouth was inches from mine.
"Fuck off Kaden," I growl, pushing him and his filthy palms away. I slam open the door and hop in. I take the phone from my jeans pocket and send a message to Angel and Mia saying I'll be back as soon as I can.
Kaden takes the drivers seat and revs the car away, my childhood haven dissolving to nothing more than a blur of green once again. A déjà vu sets in uncomfortably, making me fidget in my seat. It was only our SUV unlike last time where were others, surrounding us.
"Where are you taking me?" I pretend to busy typing on my phone, so I'd don't have to see his horrible STI covered face.
"To your real home," he said. I risk a chance to look up, and get to see his eyes diverted to the road. I exhale a sigh of relieve.
I didn't have any energy to fight back with, so I keep mum and lean against the window. My head slowly gets heavy and I shut up my eyes for a brief second.
.....
"My Luna," a quick squeal whispered, "My Luna. Please wake up."
I open an eye at first to see my stained vision quickly clear up due to my wolf vision, to find Leila's dark hair brushing my neck with her faces inches from mine. "You're awake."
"I am now," I muffle a yawn while a stretch another arm. "Good morning."
"It's not morning my Luna," she stepped away, speaking amusingly. "Come on now. I'll help you down."
She brought forward a hand in my direction which I gladly accepted wholeheartedly. She helped me step down from the SUV and up the stairs to the main door. The sun was still shining visible through the pale puffs of cloud but time itself couldn't even when it would set.
Leila remained occupied, fishing out the bundle of keys from the pocket of her loose cardigan which she had wore over a small mint dress with petite ballet flats that had a single hole thrown in the left flipper. "Nice dress. Love the colour."
She blinked twice. "Oh thanks my Luna. As you can see, it's pretty old and worn out."
With my fingers crossed for Damon not being here, I step in to see the luxurious place as it was when I had left. "May I help you help upstairs my Luna?"
"Oh," I turn to her. I was so caught up in not finding and sensing Damon here I had completely forgotten her presence. "That's something you don't even need to ask for."
We slowly and gradually went up the house stairs, down the ancient wooden hallway to the most dreadful room in the whole place. The bedroom. She left my arm for a second to push open the door. To my unexpected horror, it was the exact same as I remember it -not including the vase of roses on the edge of the bed side table. I left her arm completely to make my way over to the bed alone.
"You could have make this place any more settle for me could've you?" I ask her, after eyeing the flowers accusingly.
She hung her head in shame. A deep blush appearing in the highest part of her cheekbone. "Forgive me Luna. It was a request."
"By?" I wonder, stroking one of the petals. It was soft and delicate, just as my tone.
"I hardly think that matters my Luna," she said finally in a brittle tone, skipping the question. When I glanced up, she was still standing on the doorway with a smile lighting her face.
"What's going here? Why are you smiling like that?" I panic, standing up. "And why is there a fifty feet tall pole in the corner of the room?"
She turned in the direction of my hand. "That's the base for the Christmas tree not a pole," she laughed, shaking her head. "Why would Alpha Damon place a pole in the corner of his room?"
"I don't know. Perhaps he's afraid the wall might cave in?" I suggest with a shrug, taking a seat again. "Or he's got a secret fetish to stripping, which I would be as much affected by."
She laughed some more before she walked closer towards me. "No no. I assure you, it's for the Christmas tree."
"How many weeks is it away?" I ask, eyeing the pole suspiciously.
"Weeks?" She asked bewildered. "More like in a few days my Luna. In 3 exactly."
"Says what now? Three days?" I say, clicking my phone open to see the date staring at me stupidly. "How long was I out?"
Leila bit her lower lip. "A month, give or take but mostly likely more."
"Oh my lord, I haven't even gift shopping," I groan, cupping my head frustratingly. "What am I going to do now?"
"I wouldn't say gift shopping is the number one priority right now my Luna," Leila arched her eye.
"Then what is?" I rise. "There are three days left for Christmas and I haven't even started the list of presents to buy, and pack and list of people to gift and you say it shouldn't be my number one priority?! Leila, look. Not to be rude or anything but I don't know of anyone in this Pack that is in the spirit of giving or even gift worthy in receiving one from me, but there are some that are."
"I was just saying," Leila cleared her throat before she spoke softly, "dress shopping should be the top priority with gift shopping second."
"Dress? Why on earth would I need a dress?" I exclaim.
She smiled gently. "Then what else will you wear to your first Pack appearance? Alpha Damon wished to present you to the Pack durning the Christmas party at the struck of Midnight and wearing jeans and boots would be an insult wouldn't it?"
"Oh my-" before I could even complete my line, I ended up falling back on my bed groaning even more. .....
Hey Owls,
How's your guys summer so far? I've been so busy I don't even know if I'll be able to complete this book before the end of August.😅
I guess my book will be longer than expected and I'm sorry for the delay. And I'm so sorry, but I feel like my addiction to teen Wolf is one of them just so you know.
And is it just me, or is the opening for season 2 so good, that I can watch all day?
I just finished 8 episodes in a row and now I finally get time to edit this chapter and I'll go right back to watching it again after posting this.
Please Vote and Comment to show your support, I'm so ever grateful if you do them both..!
