Damon's POV;

Seeing her fight was an odd talent that I hadn't anticipated in any way possible. Especially from a girl so petite and agile looking like her. Dylan seemed more infuriated rather than impressed, by the thought of his Mate fighting savage werewolves by herself where I was the opposite.

After ripping yet another throat, I had caught a glimpse of a blur of red from the top of the foyer, flipping over with the aid of her attacker's arm and striking a hard blow at him afterwards. Her inhuman eyes radiated her familiar golden brown and then dissolved completely into a strong shade of pure gold strangely similar to mine.

I couldn't view her face since she flipped over and her hair was scattered over her face but when her opponent kicked her off her feet and they both fell over, her deep chocolate hair was thrown back.

She laid on her back and turn to her side, cradling her elbow from a past injury most likely. My eyes widen when I recognized the red blur -which was a dress, but my Mate's dress.

Our Mate just took down 2 attackers by herself, I inform Dylan -slightly impressed. I mean, if she worked on her angle and directed it more to his eye she could probably knock him like the other one before.

Why is dealing with them when her Mate is an Alpha -who for the record, is busying staring at her ass from behind as she runs away, Dylan said. When I realise my eyes were indeed on her ass, I hung my head in defeat as Dylan laughs victoriously.

Shaking my head and inhaling a deep breathe, I jump over the ledge and land with a roll and then my legs. I rise, dusting my tuxedo and using my werewolf sight to caught her running into the hall to the kitchen.

Taking the another secret route from behind a large painting of a bowl with pears, I managed to arrive by the area between the stairway and kitchen before she herself could arrive.

Leaning against the wall awaiting silently, I shut my eyes for a brief second just till her scent came close enough me to drag her into the darkness. Her scent was different than the rest of the girls no doubt, stronger yes but also just different. It was more like freshly plucked red roses drenched in water with an additional scent of vanilla just to empathize the scent of roses a bit more.

I didn't know if it was a mutual Mate to Mate thing, but her scent drove me crazy, to the edge crazy. Like I actually awaited to come home just so I could get some more of her scent. Or you could say it was more of an addiction. God, Dylan has made me so cheesy for the past few days.

Her scent inched closer by the second and the second she was turned backwards, I grabbed onto her elbow -accidentally the one had that was injured- and pull her into the dark.

Pressing her against the wall, I was about to ask about the elbow when she sent her foot jamming down on mine. "What the heck is your problem?"

Her inhuman eyes resolve into their normal state. "If you hadn't had grabbed me like that, I wouldn't have done that either!" She retorts.

I hear some distance footstep so I instinctively press a finger against her lip to silent her and wrap my arm tighter. Surprisingly, the sounds of the fighting had seized and so had the footstep, leaving a cold dead silence. "Follow me."

Leading the way, carefully looking over each corner twice, she broke into a whole rant about how 'I'm Alpha and I should be helping the others.' "We can't save everyone! The Warriors will deal with them." I growl tiredly.

"You can't say that!" She exclaims, holding back with her grasp on the railing to the stairs.

Where in hell did she get this energy from? Dylan chuckled and begged for control. Fuck no.

"You're injured if you haven't seen." My patience gradually ticking away. I tug her hand off and pull her up behind me. With her moping, my ears zoom into the texture of her voice instead of surrounding sounds.

She's drunk. She'll injure herself more if she's alone, I tell Dylan who wasn't sounding really convinced. Sure.

We were on our fourth flight of stairs when the sound of glass shattering appeared from behind me. Nora froze in her spot. My eyes dart back at her with an angry reply ready on the tip of my tongue but when the scent of blood arose to my nostril and when I saw Nora return her hand from the back of her head laced with blood, everything was lost.

Fear paints her face as she looks at me timidly, looking as if she were on the edge of tears. To make thing worse Dylan fuels my anger with his growling. Her eyes flutter before they close shut completely, her hand breaking away from mine.

Before she could fall head first, another man in an usual mask grabs her from under her arm and hoists her in his arms. I outstretch my claws as Dylan growls some more in the back of my mind. "Give her back."

He laughs deeply before 2 other appear from behind him in the exact same mask as their leader to restrain me back. Clawing my claws at their face first, they manage to slip a punch direct at each side of my stomach.

Coughing my spit up, I get my act together as I duck a swing from the left and punch the right one in the stomach, making him fly back and over the ledge, and the left in the nose exactly, making him go tumbling back.

"Damon!" Kaden screams from beneath.

"I'm up here," I reply, wiping my lip, cursing at the sight of blood. "Son of a bitch."

"What are you doing here?" He hops over the body crippled at the beginning of the stairway and jogs up to me.

"Some bastard took Nora up to the rooftop. We need to hurry," I provided before starting to jog up, following Nora's angelic scent. For once, I was glad for her scent being to strong and vivid to my nostrils.

I lunge open the door to the roof, and growl at the sight before my eyes. He was facing us, like he was awaiting for us to arrive with Nora locked within his grip, her legs sluggishly attempting to keep upwards.

He had an arm around her neck and another around her waist, silently warning us to stay as far away as possible. From a distance, it was like as if she were sleeping, if it weren't for a fat brut threatening to throw her off any second.

"Get your hands of my Mate," I growl, my voice deepening with authority.

"Be careful what you wish for. The second my hand leaves your darling little Mate, she'll have quite a fall, won't she?" He grinned. In the moonlight, his mask began more visible to the human eyes.

His eyes were catlike, shaped into large almond with the help of his dark masquerade mask that ringed his eyes and covered his nose."What do you want with her?" Kaden asked harshly. "She's done nothing wrong. She's innocent. We're the ones who done the wrong things."

"I don't care about that," he shot back, "I don't give two shit about your wrongdoings."

"Then why her?" It was my turn to ask. "You could've taken anyone. Me even. The Alpha of this Pack but yet you choose her. There has to be a reason why."

"Maybe there is," he grinned toothlessly. "But that isn't the concern here for you."

"Then what is?" I threaten. "You have your hands around my Mate and you're threatening me to plunge her into her death. I don't know about you, but I consider that a priority."

"Don't fret, she'll be returned soon," his grin widening. "After the Alpha's done with her."

"Which Alpha?" I growl. "Which Alpha would be such a coward to kidnap another Alpha's Mate by faking an attack?"

"Again. None of your concern." His eyes flash darkly. "And since you mentioned plunging into death, I was thinking of how your Mate would look crippled. Not that the Alpha would mind if she were too."

"Don't you dare," my eyes pulsing harder. My claws were digging into my palm, making the blood ooze out of my grip.

"Step away, and I'll give the idea up." He tilted his body to the side, with Nora's body leaning over the edge. "Or I could remove my hand on her and-"

"Okay, Okay! Alright, you'll get your way," I snap with my hands up in fake defeat before he could twirl some more. "We'll step back. Kaden."

I turn to him, and wink an eye discreetly. He catches his breath and nods understandingly, "Step back NOW."

The Warriors all trail back cautiously, watching us for any further changes. When they get none, they all leave through the door completely. "You too Alpha," he sighs tiredly. "Hurry up. I'm getting bored."

I growl, and dart my eye at him and trudge out with Kaden furiously behind me. Slamming the door shut and running down 2 flight, I stop midway. "You Kaden, go back up with the rest of the Warriors."

"And you?" He asked breathlessly, not convinced the slightest.

"Leave me! GO!" I order with my voice ricocheting off the walls and gripping the railing angrily. Before hearing more of his bullshit, I jump off the stairs and land on the ground, kneeling. Rising off the ground my ears catch a heavy exaggerated sigh with some curses, unsurprisingly directed towards me and the some following orders.

I sprint around the corner, hopping over two corpses torn open with their guts spattered on the wall and floor, dirtying my newly bought Armani shoes that I had especially ordered from Europe. Great.

Already being the foulest mood, this just worsened it. I wouldn't be surprised if clouds of anger were spewing out of my ears at this point because I couldn't care any less.

Remembering the target at hand, I shake it off and dash to the door, flinging it and hopping off the porch as I hear the exaggerated yell of a falling man.

I twirl around just in time, catching my Mate's fragile body falling limp against mine. With her head tilted away from mine, her features basked in the presence of the moonlight and I soon found myself staring. Her arms were outstretched on both sides of me, with her plump small lips lightly parted and her lashes naturally curled upwards without the help of any prosthetic.

Holes were ripped in over 50 different places of her stockings with her chest gently pressing against my coats opening. She was truly an image of innocence in the moment. I found it hard to look away even but the yelling of my name overheard, snapped me out eventually.

Rage filling me I divert my gaze up but before I could open my mouth to start the trail of curses lined up, Kaden mouths a set of words. "To your right," I turn to my right to see, to see a crashed red sport's car with the dead corpse -which had an arrow buried in the middle of his chest and which also reeked of gasoline.

Before I could comprehend the scene, I turn the opposite way and press Nora's body under mine as the corpse explodes with shards of metal erupting in multiple directions, including ours. I grit my teeth as the shards soar through the air and rip through my coat like tissue paper, and bury themselves into skin.

Rossi, get your ass to my place ASAP, I order, hanging my head weakly.

What happened?

Just get your freaking lazy ass up and to my place and you'll see for yourself. And oh, bring some backup, I bark.

"Damon," Kaden kneels besides me with his eyes burning at the sight of my blood oozing and getting adsorbed by my coat. "Lay still you dumbass."

I rest my body on my forearms, nestled on each side of her head with her head directed pointed towards mine. Being this close up, I realise how arched her lips truly were, how her cheek were simply breathtakingly soft and flawless and how her eyes were the jewel of her face, being so wide and profoundly perfect. The phrase, the eyes being window to the soul was slowly coming to me.

As cheesy it may sound, seeing her unconscious under me with her face eased the pain and soreness related to the pain in any way. It was like being so close was a remedy to the pain. I'd never felt better. "You healed surprisingly fast."

"I-I," I take Kaden's extended hand and rise with his help, while shaking my head as if it would help. "How?"

He shrugs, making my roll my eyes. Never expect an answer from him. "I don't know. Mate healing?" He suggested, brushing my shoulder.

"Thanks for the cleaning but is there such a thing as Mate healing even?" I ask, buttoning my cuff. I had to look presentable.

"Ive heard stuff like that but as you see, I have no Mate so I can't be too sure," He told me, making me grin. "I'll be sure to give it a try."

"My Alpha," I turn to see a figure bow deeply. With the bruised cheek and black eye, I couldn't recognize it was Hunter until after I saw his very own personalized midnight-black bow with golden stars in the shape of several different constellations decorating the grip and lower and upper limb.

"So you were the one to shoot the attacker resulting in his fall?" I say after connecting the images of the arrow buried in his chest back to Hunter.

"Yes my Alpha," He lowers his eyes from mine and Kaden's.

"Answer me this Head Delta," I trudge up to him, staring at his eyes awaiting them to fall with mine. "What if, that arrow that you intended for the attacker, buried itself in my Mate instead of the attacker?"

His eyes shone an image of pure humility. "I'd never intended on hurting the Luna in any way possible, my Alpha. Believe me when I say, the arrow was for the attacker only."

"But suppose-"

"Leave him Damon," Kaden shouted from behind. "His shooting is beyond accurate, take anyone's word for it -even mine, and from what I know, he'd never hurt Nora in any way you're assuming. He should know the consequences by now."

I exchange glances from Kaden to Hunter's. "You're dismissed Head Delta but tend to the Luna till Dr.Rossi arrives."

"Yes my Alpha," He bows, dropping his bow and lowering to the ground to rise her head into his lap. Curving my fist, I divert my eyes away before I knew I couldn't handle it anymore. She's our Mate. We should be attending to her, Dylan whines.

Shut your crap hole. We have more better stuff to do than attending to wounds. I shoot back as he takes her arm into his to take her pulse.

"My Alpha," Carter came jogging with a gang of Warriors behind him. His tuxedo's coat was spotless without a thread out of place but his hands told otherwise. Being drenched his blood, his voice was breathless. "Those bloody SilverRos-"

"It wasn't the SilverRose Pack behind this," I explain, studying the car which was still burning. Its flames licking the air greedily with a heavy cloud of smoking hovering above. "It isn't in their nature to attack this discreetly and besides, Alpha Xavier withdrew his war declaration just now. There's no motive whatsoever."

"There might still be," Carter crossed his hands behind his back, making Kaden scowl's tighter, "No offence my Alpha, but in their eyes you haven't treated the Luna as per their expectation and that could be a possible motive we should consider."

I grit my teeth. "Like I said before, this isn't their nature to attack discreetly like cowards. They're the second largest leading Pack in North America behind us. They have just as much as dignity as us for holding that place for over the years. Fighting like cowards -as you assume, would reflect poorly on that, wouldn't it?'

He cleared his throat. "Yes my Alpha."

"Hey Alpha Hulk!"

"What is it Kaden?" I growl, growing more and more tired by the second.

"You got to see this," He replies. I follow his scent to behind the sport's car. Someone had doused the fire and on top, laid the crippled burnt body which smelled more of burnt flesh than the normal werewolf scent. The stench was so strong it churned my alcohol filled stomach and stung my eyes. "What?"

He without a second thought, threw his hands into the pill of ashes and fished out his half burnt wrist which was a disturbingly, awful shade of dark brown, slash black. "Use your wolf vision."

I did as he said, and what I saw left me speechless. Even with the red dots spotting my inhuman vision, the sight of the tattoo with three inked rings and spark of fire was hard to miss. I study it for awhile longer before I allow my normal vision to restore. "The burning rings."

"Wait hold up," Carter, crossing his hands. "You're thinking this is someone from our Pack causing all this?"

"No but it's definitely someone's copying our Crest and misusing it to make us think it's someone from the Pack," Kaden provided with a mock grin, tossing the burnt hand back into the pull of ashes. Carter returns it with a mock smile of his own.

"Stop it both of you," I lecture. "Someone's kidnapping not only our members, but also members from the SilverRose Pack. I had gotten an email from Alpha Ryan regarding this issue just before the party. They go missing from one side of the Pack and turn up in the other, burnt and experimented upon. It's becoming a widespread problem."

"So you're saying this attack was a distraction to kidnap members?" Carter asks making me nod, just as another younger blond Warrior comes sprinting in his direction. He pauses to bow at me before whispering some rapid words breathlessly into his ear. "Leave now." Carter dismisses him.

"What is it?" I ask, thrusting my healing hands into my pockets to cover the bloody scraps that were midway in the healing process.

"Our burning ringed tattoo was also found on the other dead attackers inside," He mumbled.

That was all it took for me, to hang my head tiredly. If this keeps carrying on, this wasn't going to end well for either sides.
