[A/N] sorry if this is any inconvenience to you as a reader, but I have made the decision to change Tess's perspective from first to third from now on as I find it'll benefit me in my writing and your enjoyment. Also enjoy another chapter!

Sixteen: I'm hungry

Once Katy had left with Austin, Tess was immediately bombarded with questions and queries by Jace. He prodded and poked even when she constantly reassured that she was absolutely fine. He was persistent, poking and moving his eyes around the small body within his hands to check for any bruises or visible injuries, which there were non but it made Tess laugh knowing he cared.

"This won't ever happen again, okay? Knights honour, I can't believe Austin did that to you.." Jace frowned a little, which Tess noticed and found didn't suit his features. She was use to the dimples that would appear in his warm cheeks, so bright with kindness behind his eyes. Resting a hand on his chest, he gave a nod as to confirm his promise with the action, the hint of a frown slowly turning up back into a large playful smile. Tess couldn't help but hold back a soft laugh and shake her head at the loon, waving him off with a smile in return

"I'm honestly fine, Jace. Katy was really nice to me and didn't hurt me. Okay? See, not a single scratch" Tess lifted her arms, pulling up the sleeves to make an example of herself and her uninjured body. Running her delicate fingers along her small arms, feeling the smooth skin that tickled her arms. He didn't seem convinced, eyeing the tiny girl a little longer then necessary with his large, blueberry eyes, pupils focusing in and out on her body to be absolute sure, worrying like a mother hen. Fussing and checking on her.

"Okay~" he says cautiously; leaning back onto the large bed with a cocked brow seeming still not convinced that another giant could be so caring to a human. Moving his hands up he carefully rested the tiny human from his lap to be upon his chest, his breaths slow and making his chest move up and down rhythmically beneath her. Amused, she shakes her head, strawberry blond locks brushing at her soft cheeks while her hand came to rest on one of Jace's abnormally large fingers to give a comforting pat before climbing off to sit upon his shirt. Her hands felt every breath, his heart beat was in her palms, slow and strong while hers began to speed up a little.

"Thank you for caring so much, atleast I know I have you. Unlike a certain someone" they both rolled they're eyes in agreement, she was beyond annoyed that Austin had forgotten all about her for the second time and she knew she wasn't just gonna let it down. Bringing his arms up, Jace rested his head in his hands where he lay, propping his head up in his hands so he could look down at Tess upon his chest, making her shift a little feeling strange being able to sit upon someone so big and be so effortlessly light.

Her eyes moved slowly, to not make it obvious that she was looking at Jace as she eyed his large body. The wrinkles in his shirt were mountainous, his breaths were strong and every movement could knock her so easily off her feet onto the mattress that was way bellow. She still wasn't use to this, how she could sit upon a giant boy who didn't seem to care much at all that she was there. His hands were so large they could snatch her up in one go, his body so large he could roll over and she'd be done for. The thoughts wandered about her mind, but she had to force herself out of that mind state knowing Jace would never.

"Why wouldn't I, I need to cause Austin is too~" he smiled and turned his head, turning her head also hearing footsteps coming up the stairs and moving closer til Austin's head appears about the doorway, "speak of the devil"

"Austin is too what? Huh? Be careful what your next words are" Austin gave a glare to Jace then rolled his eyes, moving to collapse like a sack of potatoes onto the bed, groaning lowly into the mattress. Tess gasped, the whole bed moving with Austin's body. Having to grab onto the seams of jaces shirt beneath her to keep her stable as Austin settled into the bed.

She looked to Austin with narrowed eyes from where she sat upon the other giants chest, then up to Jace, who was looking at Austin with the same look that reflected on her face. Jace was mad.. she smiled at that. Only a little because of the look Jace had upon his large face, finding it amusing that he was angry. Watching his hand, it raised to give a small jab into Austin's side making him jolt and snap his eyes to look toward Jace with a icy glare, if he could he would've growled at Jace, but it softened when he looked to Tess, eyes turning down to look at the sheets beneath him. She knew instantly his reasoning and she leant back a little seeing his guilt written on his face, watching as he moved onto his side to face her and the boy she sat upon.

"Look.." he started" I'm sorry about what happened.. Tess, I really am. I didn't mean to forget you. I ran back but.. you were already gone" Austin spoke like a kid who'd just been caught stealing a cookie from the jar, he spoke soft and his eyes didn't meet hers. She pursed her lips, looking to Jace who looked back to her with a cocked brow, biting his lip waiting for her answer.

She could've yelled, shouted and cried at Austin. Tell his father, told her mum and gotten him in the biggest of trouble. But.. she couldn't bring herself to it, as she rested a hand on her cheek she looked at him and gave a small shrug.

"It's fine.. just don't do it again okay? It was humiliating" Tess spoke quiet but there was annoyance behind her words, looking to Austin seeing his eyes turning up to face her finally with a little smile before he turned back to hide in his pillows, grunting softly to himself unable to make eye contact with her again.

While she watched Austin, she didn't notice as Jace began to smile but she did however notice his body ever so slightly begin to move from beneath her. She began to turn her head, confused and curious to see what he was doing only to gasp as his hand came down to fill her vision to scoop her up, his entire body sitting up with her making her squeak in shock as she was moved about in the large hands, her vision blurred and heart falling into her stomach making her feel sick.

"Jace!" She squealed, she was moved around so much she could've sworn she was going to be sick, but as soon as she thought she was going to spew all over jace's hand she came to a stop. What she came to sit on was not blankets, not a hand nor was it hard ground. Slightly dazed and confused, she brought her hands to her head trying to calm the spinning of her brain and her gut. She wanted to topple over and curl up into a ball but instead froze when she saw light brown tuffs about her, she stared for a second confused, moving her hand against the soft strands. It was like a jungle of.. suddenly realising it was hair she nearly jumped out of her skin and looked around, holding on tightly as the ground beneath her moved.

She was on top of his head!

"Jace what are you doing!?" She snapped, holding on like her life depended on it. Because it did! She wanted to scream or pass out, maybe both. Watching as he moved, her eyes were wide and her heart felt like it was about to explode. Everything so high, she felt as if she could be flying. If she could see the look on her face she would've more than likely look like she'd seen a ghost.

"I need my hands" Jace chuckled and she watched as he moved out of Austin's bedroom and headed downstairs for the kitchen, she didn't know what he was thinking but she knew it was more than likely along the lines of being mischievous. Who knew what happened in jace's head.

Walking slowly downstairs, Jace moved into the kitchen, his head bouncing a little and Tess along with it. She clutched onto the hair about her like a safe guard, leaning a little forwards her hands tightened on the hair til her knuckles were white. Jace worked quick with his hands but didn't dare move his head, not risking accidentally making Tess fall. He was making a sandwich, a god damn sandwich as if he owned the house. Risked her life for a sandwich. He knew where everything was placed, where the butter and bread was kept. Tess groaned and rolled her eyes, watching with annoyance. He could've left her with Austin, placed her in her own house but instead he insisted on bringing her along.

"why are you making a sandwich?" She asked matter of factly, a little annoyed at the fact she was on top of Jace's head . He simply gave a shrug in return, grabbing a knife to cut the sandwich in two triangles. He began to move the knife around the sandwich, being careful with each step he took. He was cutting off the crust, slicing it off, like a kid would he pushed the crust aside with the knife leaving a pile on the counter for someone else to clean up later. More than likely Brian. "You cut the crust off?"

"I'm hungry and the crust sucks, who even likes the crust" he says simply, as if it were obvious fact. Placing his sandwich on a plate, he turned, slowly on his heels with caution of course to make his way back to Austin's room "also, I wanted to ask~ cause I don't want Austin to hear. if maybe, tomorrow after school you'd like to come with me to hang out with us at Coles house" he tilted his head up ever so slightly, as if trying to see her face.

She let out a gasp and pulled on his hair "head straight! And yes if I don't die from falling off your head first!" she felt her heart throb painfully with fright, her fingers clinging so tight she felt her fingernails in her palms. As he fixed the position of his head, her heart didn't calm immediately, taking a long breath from nerves. She knew he was smiling. She could picture the large grin on his face, could picture the dimple and glint in his eye.

"Good"

Bringing her back upstairs, he carefully brought her down onto the bed again before him where he sat cross legged with his large no crust sandwich and plate sat before him. Raising an eyebrow up at him, Tess looked to Austin who was now on his phone still laid on his bed. She caught his eyes for a second, peering over to Jace seeing he had a sandwich and she notice me him as he rolled his eyes

"Dads gonna ban you soon you know. He hates when you take his food" Austin spoke, looking back to his phone as he scrolled through his social media "you always leave a mess too" he chuckles, turning off his phone to look at Jace, eyeing the sandwich that sat before him "why did you cut the crust off?"

"I do not!" Jace spoke through a mouth full of food, raising a hand to wipe his mouth as he glared at Austin "and because the crust sucks, why? do you not take the crust off?"

Austin laughs loudly and shakes his head, "yeah when I was five I did" he snorts and Tess couldn't help but laugh too, making eye contact with Jace who looked confused. She gave a nod agreeing with Austin only making Jace frown, shaking his head in disbelief

"Seriously? You guys are weird" Jace snorts and shakes his head more, taking another large bite out of his sandwich nearly devouring half of it in one go. She was shocked at how much food fit into his mouth, so easily and swallowed hungrily like he hadn't eaten in days

They sat like this, bantering and talking. Tess listened a lot, stirring and just watching the boys get into little arguments about the stupidest things. Like who was gonna win Friday's game, who was stronger, who was funnier and who was faster. She was too tired to join in, resting her head in her hands , eyes sometimes drifting close and laughing whenever the boys did something stupid or when Austin backhanded Jace who pouted like a baby. She didn't care about what had happened anymore, how Austin had forgotten her was in the past. They were boys, he was a teenage boy who was irresponsle and dumb sometimes. Just like every other teen boy she knew, human or giant

Jace left, went home because Brian kicked him out for leaving a mess in the kitchen like Austin had said. He left begrudgingly, saying his goodbyes quickly before having to rush out the house to go to his own home. Which was rare since he practically lived at Austin's house.

Austin was quiet, quieter than usual. He didn't have anything to say, Tess knew that because he'd been avoiding looking at her, starting conversation and even when she tried to he gave short replies. Pursing her lips, Tess hesitantly stood upon the large mountainous mattress, hesitantly moving to make her way closer to Austin. She was slow and careful, in case Austin turned or moved by accident to hit her, "so~" she started, moving closer til she came to stand by Austin's head, she could feel the warmth radiate from his skin, heat each strong breath he took against his pillow.

Moving his head slowly, she jumped every so slightly as she came face to face with Austin. His large eyes focusing on her, nose strong and lips full even when they pursed together as he looked at her quizzically. "What is it, shorty?" He said with amusement in his words, a slight smirk tugging at his lips but faded back into his face as if to hide it.

"I was wondering~" she hesitated, trying to find a topic that could grab Austin's attention. She paused, looking over his large features, high cheekbones like Brian, soft lips and strong brows. She would've blushed but knew not to as that would only boost his confidence, turning her head to look to her feet she stepped closer a little "what's Darrick like?" She tilted her head questingly, in all honesty she was curious about the guy. He was a total mystery in her eyes, this big dark secretive guy. He intrigued her.. what was he hiding?

This seemed to be amusing to Austin and he finally raised his head, resting his head on his hand now looking down on Tess and making her feel more intimidated, especially with the look that came across his face "does someone gave a little crush?"

"No!" she snorts and shakes her head "I haven't even spoken a word to him. He just~ seems~ interesting" Tess rubbed at her arm, now embarrassed with her choice of topic she looks away trying to glare but instead only began to blush, a rosy pink reaching to her ears which spread from her nose.

"Your secrets safe with me" he smirks and winks playfully, receiving a glare from Tess while he rubs at the back of his neck and brings his fingers through his dark brown locks. "well~ he's kind of a mystery to us all really. He kind of shut himself out after.." he looked to Tess quickly, which she noticed as a hesitation, something was being kept a secret. Something happened and Austin couldn't say, what was it?

"I can't say but~ he's a good guy, he keeps us guys in check. He's like the father of the group, he's always looking out for us when we get into trouble. He has to, especially Lenny" he smiles softly to himself, seeming deep in thought for a second before his eyes drifted back to Tess on the bed bellow him.

"I reckon you two would get along well actually~ your a lot alike." He snorts and collapses back into his pillows, closing his eyes with a large smile "a lot alike.." he went quiet, staring up to the ceiling where he laid.

"How so?" Tess spoke, moving til she came to rest against one of the large pillows as a rest, arching her brow and tilting her head with confusion. Darrick didn't seem like her in anyway what's so ever, he was quiet and kept to himself, he was mysterious and dark.

"He just~ is. Okay you probably wouldn't see it because he's quiet sometimes especially around girls. But he's just a big softie really... definitely needs a girl" he chuckles and turned his head toward Tess, making eye contact with each other and he smirks.

Tess rolls her eyes and waves her hand at him, waving him away "don't even suggest me, id be no bigger than probably one of his fingers" she rolled her eyes scoffing at the thought of dating a giant! She wasn't her mother she couldn't.. she couldn't, wouldn't.. could she? Shaking her head at the thoughts, she scrunches her nose, she couldn't be like her mother. Giants were so large, so big that she'd be nothing but like a pet mouse to a giant not a girlfriend. How could she..

"I can see your thinking about it, don't worry~ he likes humans. I'm gonna make it happen" he smirks and lays back, "oh this'll be fun, Darrick and his little human girl" he snickers making Tess squirm with discomfort, she hated this. He found it amusing, moving his hand to her and gently pushing her over onto her back with just his finger

"No you won't, Shut up!" She shouted, gasping as she was shoved over and scrambled to her feet. Oh god.
