~Above is Ava And Tess~
[TESS]
The car ride was long and boring, only the music in the background keeping her mildly entertained and Jace. She couldn't help but feel that there was a heavy feeling which hung in the air around them, especially between Austin and Katy who didn't utter a single word to each other the entire time. It was rather awkward at times, seeming to sit in a never ending silence. Even Jace was rather quiet, not speaking to Austin at first when they had first gotten into the car, but soon cracked and was talking again, too excited for their little holiday that was to come.
There were two cars, four in one and two in the other. Tess so happened to be sat in the larger group in Austin's car. In the car sat Austin, as the driver and Jace, also sat in front while Katy and her friend that Tess had never met before who Katt had been allowed to bring along. Her name was Ava and she too sad in the back. Cole and Darrick were in the other car in Coles parents van, which was jam packed with their equipment and about three cases of alcoholic beverages which she had counted when they were packing along with two coolers and a bunch of chairs.
Ava was an extremely kind girl, she could understand why she and Katy were friends. She had short brown hair that grazed her cheeks and hung just above her shoulders. She was considerably shorter than everyone, smaller than Cole who was the smallest of the boys and also Katy. She was very cute, she reminded Tess of a sweet little teddy bear that she just wanted to hug. She had a lovely voice whenever she spoke, so sweet that it made everyone want to listen and couldn't help but aw. Her nose was like a daisy bud with a light sprinkle of freckles across it and rosy cheeks. Her eyes were a dark brown, like caramel with chocolate mixed into them. Her face was lightly made up, not too much makeup thought to look over the top, instead going for a natural look, considering that they were headed to camping, it suited her. She had soft cherry lips and crystal white teeth that created a cute smile: she truly was adorable.
Tess couldn't help but notice though, that there was something in the way Ava held herself, as if unsure of where her limbs should be when seated in the back of the car. She looked awkward and very uncomfortable. As if the boys presence were making her uneasy. She always seemed to rely on Katy to answer, looking to her friend when either of the boys spoke or asked a question. She saw this especially when they had to stop at a pit stop, Austin having turned around in his seat to ask if anyone needed to go to the toilet. Ava immediately looking to Katy to answer for the both of them.
They were still an hour away from the site when Jace began to fiddle with Tess, gently touching her hair and rubbing at her head. She didn't mind the head patting, letting it play out for a while since it felt kinda nice being lightly massaged, before having to move herself away to look up at him with a curious smile, her hair having been patted so much it began to frizz "your gonna knot my hair"
"Sorry.. I'm just bored" he murmurs, his lips pursed and eyes turned to look out the window, as if trying to find something else to focus his attention on. She couldn't see out the window, hadn't the entire ride since Jace had left her upon his lap where she was allowed to lay back against the bunching of his black shirt around his stomach. Which was comfortable and she could've sworn she nearly fell asleep a few times, listening to the sound of the car moving around her. The wind against the windows, Jaces steady breathing and the silence not helping.
"Why don't we play a game?" Katy says from in the back, leaning forward til her shaved head appeared beside Jace, a small smile playing at her lips as she looked at them "we could do, would you rather?"
"Okay!" Jace smiles and Tess nodded also, dying to have some entertainment like everyone else in the car. Jace looked to Austin, his mouth twisting to the side and eyes watching cautiously, Austin, who was concentrating on the road didn't move, Jace having to lightly poked at his arm "are you gonna play?"
Austin glanced toward Jace quickly, his brows raising then looking back to the road "sure, why not.." he murmurs begrudgingly, going quiet like she'd never seen him do before. She swore this was the most quiet she'd ever seen him, he always had something to say or an input. But this entire car ride he kept to himself, listening but never saying much. Instead focusing on the road, following Darrick and Cole that we're driving infront of him in the van.
"Okay I'll go first. Jace, Would you rather have no fingers or no eyes?" Katy started, leaning back into the car with her friend, while still watching Jace for his answer. Tess couldn't help but giggle at the thought of no fingers, stretching her own in her lap imagining it.
Jace pursed his lips as he began to think, a soft hmmm coming from his throat as he thought about the question "no fingers, yeah.. I would want to able to see, I wouldn't know what to do if I couldn't see" Jace chuckles and leans back into his seat, looking to Austin who was driving then quickly to Tess that sat within his lap. Making eye contact he gave a smile.
"Tess~ would you rather" he started, pressing a finger to his lips as he tried thinking of a question "Would you rather have a time machine that only goes back in time or a time machine that only goes forward in time?" He asked and she couldn't help but widen her eyes at the question.
"Oh that's tricky.." she says, pursing her lips also as she began to think "well if I went back in time, I could.." she hesitated and looked at Jace "I could probably see Earth.. where humans use to live and how we lived. But if I went forward, I could see my future.. probably forward then, the past is irrelevant.." she smiled and Jace nodded to her answer, she even heard Katy in the back give a soft hum in response
"Okay~ Austin" she smiled up at the driving giant, who glanced down at her while she looks back to him as she thought of a question "would~ Would you rather have true love or unlimited money?" She raised her brows, curious actually what his answer would be.
"Money" he said, not even hesitating to answer. His eyes staying glued upon the road and hands rested lightly on the wheel "id buy a new car and house"
"Why?" Katy spoke abruptly from in the back, uttering her first words to Austin the entire ride. Even Tess looked to him with a curious look coming across her face as to why, pushing back her hair off out of her eyes to watch the boy while Katy continued, "why money? Why wouldn't you want to find the love of your life?" Katy says again, leaning forward in her seat to look at Austin. Even Jace was leant forward, eyeing the other brunette. Austin glanced into the centre mirror, looking into the back of the car toward Katy with raised brows
"Well yeah.. of course, but in this world I'd rather have money then love, you can go places. Be someone with money. It would make life a lot easier with a bit of cash"
"That's a little sad. I'd choose love over money any day" Katy said, making Austin give a silent shrug. That explained Austin in many ways and his mentality and outlook on the world.
Austin didn't seem bothered by the question, instead continuing with a smirk with their game to ask Jace "would you rather a dick the size of a finger or fingers the size of dicks!" he snorts and Jace shakes his head but clearly was smiling, having to hold back his laughter while the three girls in the cars simultaneously rolled their eyes
"So immature" Katy scoffs in the back making Austin chuckle more.
~
On arrival Tess couldn't help but marvel at the campsite that they had pulled up to and when carried out of the car, she couldn't help but look around and gawk at the natural beauty all around them. It was a clearing that had forest on one side and a beautiful glistening lake on the other with canoes. She'd never seen so much wood and leaf, trees larger than the giants that held her, roots were colossal in size and hugged the earth.
It felt old, a little creepy being in a place so large and filled with something so ancient, only the sweet sounds of moving water and bird song was heard among the eery silence. It was pure serenity, within the leaves and the water that flows among the cool lake. There is something about the sparkle upon the blue water that made her want to dive in and float there, even if she didn't really know how to swim well it looked irresistible. She could spot a small wharf and dock by the camp sight, which was hidden among the trees like a secret hide away. Looking up, the great arms of the mighty trees, were clothed in the greens and yellow of every shade. Some shades she'd never seen before hid the sun , the colours of nature was like something out of a dream. It was like nothing she'd seen, not in pictures at school or old human movies, it was something of a greater evolutionary span that humans couldn't fathom.
She was left to sit by herself on a large chair while the giants set up their camp sight, not minding though as it gave her time to sit and just admire. Looking out upon the lake, so large it boggles her mind that it was simply a lake.. she couldn't imagine what the ocean must look like. She'd never seen a lake, or even the ocean before. The human quarters was a city of cement surrounded by a wall. It was like nothing she'd ever seen, but the giants acted as if this was normal. As if it wasn't the most beautiful thing they'd ever seen !
She sighed and sat like this until Austin came to sit beside her, still not minding with him being there. "That was quick~" she says looking to him, seeing that he'd finished his tent rather quickly. He gave a smile as he looked over to trees and give a shrug
"I'm just that good" he chuckles, bringing a bottle to his lips to taking a swig, the view suddenly grabbing his attention also as he sunk back and relaxed. Together they sat like this, admiring and enjoying the view.
~
[AUSTIN]
The cars were unpacked and the two groups of girls and boys were setting up their own tents, three in total. One was for the girls so they could have their privacy, and two tents for the boys since there was too many to share one. Austin and Darrick would be sharing a tent and Cole and Jace the other. It took Austin and Darrick no time to set up, since they had done it plenty of times before, knowing exactly what went where.
Having set up inside and dumped their bags, they were left to their own devices while waiting for the others to finish. Jace and Cole weren't far behind in finishing, currently nailing in the last of the pins to keep the tent from flying away if there was a sudden freak storm. On the other hand, the girls were struggling. Ava and Katy still trying to push through the poles to keep the tent up, but we're struggling in finding the holes and where to put them.
Darrick had left to collect sticks, disappearing into the forest wanting to have a fire before it got too dark. He was always the fire man, enjoying building the fires and keeping them lit throughout the night. Austin found himself watching the two girls while relaxing with Tess, seated in a camping chair with a cool beer in one hand which he sipped on occasionally. They'd managed to get alcohol from one of the older boys that use to go to their school, needing to sneak it into the van so that Brian or any of the other parents didn't see.
Hearing the girls struggles, he couldn't help but smile at their frustration. Tess who seated on another camping chair beside him kept him company, so small she didn't even take up half the chair. She was too small to help, instead being left to sit alone with him while the other girls set up their home for the next few days.
"By the time they get that thing up, it's gonna be dark" aAustin couldn't help himself, grinning he let out a laugh as he looked to Tess who simply shook her head with a smile
"You could always help them" she says, raising a brow over at Austin, making him turn to look at her and rolls his eyes.
"I'm sure they'll manage..." he said; only to clamber to his feet seeing the girls tent collapse in on itself "okay fine~" he murmured to Tess and wandered over, ignoring her large smile and instead going over to the other girls "you look like you need some help" Austin says, his mouth suddenly going dry as he comes to stand beside Katy, who was looking more frustrated by the second. Her face red and knuckles white, she looked as if she were about to burn the tent down where it stands.
Snapping her head up toward Austin when hearing him, from where she was crouched upon the ground, she glared quickly in his direction before looking back to the instructions "no~ we're perfectly fine thank you. We're not stupid, just because we're girls doesn't mean we can't set up a stupid tent.." she grumbled beneath her breath, turning the paper instruction onto its side as if it'd make any difference "this doesn't make any sense" she hisses beneath her breath, grunting she stands to grab a pole again.
Austin couldn't bare to watch, they were doing it all wrong. Completely and utterly wrong. He shook his head with amusement and gave a low chuckle, resting his hand in his brow hair he slowly walks over and grabs a long pole and hands it to Katy
"I never said you were stupid.. here, I think this is what you need to use first." He guides the pole into her hand, turning to pick up the tent and point to where she needed to funnel the pole through "it needs to go through that slit, then Ava, you need to grab it once it comes through and then use a pin to nail it into the ground." He quickly moves around to grab a hammer, handing it to Ava before moving back to help Katy. His hands felt clammy again and he hoped Katy couldn't tell how anxious he felt being so close to her. Still feeling guilty for his attitude from the other day in the cafeteria.
"Okay~" Ava gave a soft nod, holding the hammer loosely in her hands as if she were holding a dead rat and didn't know what to do with it. She seemed focused though, enough because she was watching as he explained on what to do and how to do it.
"Now, push it through and Ava grab it when you see it" Austin grabbed the pole that Katy held again, his hands resting so close to hers when helping her by guiding her hand til the pole reached the other side of the tent and cane into avas hands. He smiled and continued to explain how to nail it into the ground "got it?" He looked to Katy and Ava, seeing them both nod in unison he stepped back to watch them do the next pole.
Katy hesitated at first, standing and looking at him with curiosity in her eyes, probably wondering why he was being so nice. He raised a brow back in her direction, trying to work out what she was looking at but instead caused the girl to quickly turn away and grab a another pole, begrudgingly following what he had said and began starting on the tent again. With his help, they were finished in no time. Just in time too as the sun was beginning to fall behind the horizon and the clouds turned a soft pink, night coming quicker then he'd expected.
He left the girls then to put their things in the tent, returning to his seat. Tess having disappeared now into the tent with the other girls, now replaced with Darrick who sat pilling sticks together to make a campfire. The day was growing old and the sun begins to sink down beneath the tops of the large trees. The light streaks through the trunks shone brilliant raises of honey and shadows that cast across the sight. Grabbing his drink he sunk deeper into his chair, finding peace in the forest around him. Gazing out on the water of the lake, he took a slow deep breath finding it calming.
Jace and Cole finally joined Darrick and Austin, taking a seat and grabbing a drink themselves and cracked them open "it's beautiful isn't it" Cole sighs, keeping his eyes on the view before him. The four of them were mesmerised by the sight, enjoying the feeling of being in nature and having a break from the stress of school and Backnott. Austin noticed he hadn't had a headache all day, it made him smile and he took a swig from his drink.
Darrick finally got the fire started and relaxed into his seat with a proud smile as the fire grew and spread, a warm glow growing til the fire licked at the air. Cole and Jace instantly reacted to the fire as it came to life, moving closer to soak in the warmth of the flickering flames.
"Hey, don't look now~" Cole spoke after a while of silence, "but Ava is staring at you, Darrick" Cole smiles over the top of his drink, turning his eyes to Darrick who look surprised, eyes widening hearing Cole "looks like she's interested"
Darrick shifted in his seat a little, "really?" He spoke softly, looking uncomfortable he turns his head ever so slightly to look toward the girls over his shoulder. Austin looked also, not caring if he was caught spying he sees that Ava was in fact peering over at Darrick where he sat, her face going pink as they all looked and turned away to face Katy to hide.
"I said not to look" Cole groaned and face palmed himself, shaking his head while Darrick sinks into his seat shyly as if to hide.
As if. No way was Ava checking out Darrick now, after Austin had been working so hard to get him and Tess together.
"I don't think so~" Darrick gives a chuckle and shakes his head, leaning back into his seat, continuing to shake his head not believing Ava was actually looking toward him. Good, Austin hoped he didn't think anything and thought it was a chance to get with her and not Tess.
"Yeah she is, Ive seen her staring a few times. I reckon you should tr~"
"Tess has a crush on you" Jace blurted, his eyes widening as all the boys heads turned suddenly toward Jace, who sunk down into his seat shyly.
"Jace.." Austin hisses, glaring as he leant forward in his seat with wide eyes, looking to Darrick quickly to check his reaction. He was surprised to see that he saw him smiling, his eyes looking to jace with a grin growing on his face.
"Really? How do you know that.." Darrick turned his eyes up, they seemed brighter then he'd ever seen them as he looked at Jace, leaning forward a touch in his chair curiously. Austin could tell he seemed interested, seeing the larger boys eyes turning to look over at the girls trying to spot Tess. Austin began to grin.
Yes!
"I Uh~" Jace started, looking to Austin "I just know" Jace smiles shyly and Darrick smiles back, leaning back in his chair and resting his hand against his face. Trying to look back at the girls again, his eyes searching trying to look for the small human
"I think you should go Ava, Tess is.. you know, too little" Cole chuckles, making Darricks smile fall a little and sink further back in his seat. Austin wanted to clamp a hand over Coles mouth, he didn't know about his plan to get Darrick and Tess together and it had been working! He wanted to grab the blonde boy and throw him into the lake.
"Yeah~ I guess" Darrick says slowly, turning to glance back at the girls, seeming to eye Ava this time as she carries her bag into the tent. Austin watched Darrick, pursing his lips as he saw his eyes follow the brunette girl as she walked. Darrick finally looked away and brought his drink to his lips, taking a large sip and finishing the rest of his beer before looking back out at the water, grabbing a stick to poke at the embers of the fire suddenly falling quiet.
"I reckon you've got a chance, she's pretty too. Lucky bastard, Wish she was looking at me like that" Cole snorts and Darrick gave a small smile, shaking his head and running a hand through his black hair. A blush seeming to come across his face the more Cole talks.
"I think I'll have another drink then.." Darrick says and quickly gets up, going over to the coolers to grab himself another drink to crack open, raising it to quickly gulp down the brown liquid inside.
Austin felt like throwing a chair, grab Cole by his long ass hair and swinging him around a few times! No way was he about to let Darrick and Tess fall apart, after all his hard work. Sending Darrick to get her after school, trying to get them to sit together, hinting to Darrick when they were alone about Tess. This Ava wasn't about to waltz in here and ruin that, especially since Tess only now had feelings.. he didn't want to see her broken hearted.
~
[TESS]
She couldn't help but smile at her little set up, it being much more luxurious then the others since it could be simply carried by the giants. She had her actual mattress and warm duvet and pillows, her bag sat to the side jam packed full of clothes and makeup. She was given a lot more space, away from the giant girls in case of any accidents or if someone were to get up at night and by chance trip or knock something over onto her. Humming she moved away from her space and entered the rest of the tent, moving over she went over to Katy, who was sat on the ground upon her sleeping bag, pulling out a hoodie to tug on over her head.
"Your so lucky.. I wish I could bring my mattress along" Katy laughs and scrunches her nose playfully, Tess laughing back and poking out her tongue.
"Just one of the perks of being a human" she giggles and Katy smiles back, reaching out to let Tess climb onto her hand and bring her up to sit on her sleeping bag beside her.
"More like the perks of being a princess, damn. We're like peasants over here sleeping on the ground" she snorts and Tess could help but feel In face very privileged to be human, to not have to sleep on a sleeping bag and instead getting the luxuries of sleeping on an entire bed. She was excited for the night to come around where she could collapse into the softness and be warm and comfortable.
It was then that Ava walked into the tent, the brunettes face radiating a light pink as she came to sit across from Katy on her sleeping bag. Smiling down at Tess as she entered "this is a cute little set up we have here, isn't it" Ava smiles and looks about the tent, looking up at the ceiling of the tent and sighing. It was anything from cute, the tent was blue and made everything inside have a tint of blue from the sun shining through outside. It was loud and very noisy whenever someone walked, Tess feeling a little frightened it'd collapse from a gentle win.
"It is~ oh! There better be no animals sneaking into our tent or I'll actually loose my shit" Katy shudders, making Tess laugh but also feel nervous at the idea of a wild animal walking into their tent and eating her!
"We'll zip up the tent, don't worry" Ava laughs and shakes her head, rolling her eyes at Katy who looked anxious even at the idea of seeing an animal. Making even Tess laugh and lightly lay back on the sleeping bag, it wasn't very comfortable, it was a weird fabric and made a noise whenever she moved
"So~" Ava starts and bites her lip, grabbing the girls attention with a clap of her hands "who's getting with who on this trip?" She snorts and Katy gasps, playfully hitting avas arm.
"Shhh, none! As if you'd even say that. Have you seen those morons" together the girls laugh and Tess couldn't help but smile, even when her mind began to wander to Darrick. Hoping maybe, hopefully, something would happen! She couldn't imagine anuthing actually happening, how was the biggest mystery. How would they do it, where, when? Was it even possible at their size... she blushed at her thoughts and swallowed tightly imagine his bare chest again~
"Yeah~ but like they're hot.. especially Darrick. I might shoot my shot" Ava waved her face playfully as if she was on fire, making Katy laugh and give a shrug.
"Your not wrong.." Katy sighs and looks down to Tess, "what about you Tess?"
Tess was practically burning on the inside, her heart felt as if it would fly away, was ripped out and crushed on a few times. Her eyes stayed locked on a certain spot of the tent before her while he tried to register what had been said... Ava, Ava thought Darrick was hot, Ava had just said she was gonna shoot her shot. Tess felt as if she were going to melt into a puddle and evaporate, no no no. Ava couldn't like Darrick, it was so unfair. She liked Darrick, she wanted Darrick.
But as the thoughts ran through her head she began to frown. Why would darrick choose a human over a cute giant girl, why would darrick choose her. She felt her mind racing but couldn't think of anything to say, she wanted to cry and scream at the same time but her mouth stayed shut
"Tess?" Quickly she snapped out of her Mind when hearing her name, turning her eyes up to look and see Katy was looking at her with furrowed brows seeming worried for the little human.
"Oh yeah.. Um~ I don't know" she shrugs her shoulders lightly and licked at her dry lips, feeling her heart racing so fast she wasn't surprised she hadn't collapsed yet
"I think you and Jace are cute, you two get along really good. Especially how he's always making sure your okay, that's really sweet" Ava smiles and Tess couldn't even look at her, the once sweet girl looked uglier the more she spoke. if she could Ava would've grown devil horns by now.
"Yeah~ he's nice" Tess gave a tight smile, which quickly fell in on itself. Yes she liked Jace but not in that way, he was like a little brother to her. Too much of a good friend to fall for in a romantic way. She felt as if her body was in a boiling pot of hot water, her heart was in her stomach and she felt like rolling over and just giving up. Of course Darrick wouldn't go for her, if Ava tried anything she was sure that he'd go for it. She was beautiful and sweet, what guy wouldn't get with her. Why would darrick get with her, with a stupid little human like her.. she was nothing compared to Ava..
She couldn't compete.
A/N: Sorry if this update is small and a bit crappy but just thought to get the Trip Started! Next update is gonna be better and longer. Ahh
