My eyes stung as the sun once again began to rise indicating a sleepless night. Watching the sun rise was the only thing that felt normal since I had become one of the Taken. When I worked on the farm lands that was a sight I was able to lie my eyes upon every morning happily. It was beautiful seeing the darkness being conquered by the light, and it all came in different colors. From light blue, pink, purple yellow and orange. The light wasn't seen straightaway no it's a gradual process that takes time.

Normally I would have a nap when the Beta left for work but I knew that wouldn't be the case today. An uneasiness was beginning in my stomach, today wasn't going to be a good one for me. I could hear him beginning to stir beside me and before I could tell he stood up with a big smile on his face. "Get ready! I want to get to the clinic as quickly as possible."

I slowly made my way into the bathroom, I turned the shower faucets as if I had no strength left in me. I wasn't in a hurry, I was sick of doing everything he asked. I put a pea size of toothpaste on my finger and acted like it was a toothbrush. The showers gently glided across my skin loosening my tense muscles. I was only now beginning to question what would happen to me when we would arrive at the place the Beta was eager to get to.

Although I was human my senses had heightened ever since I had been brought here. I didn't need to turn around to know he was in the bathroom with me.

"You need to hurry up." Was all he said while he began brushing his terrifying teeth.

I rolled my eyes taking in a deep breath before turning the water supply off. My little bit of peace ruined by him. I left the bathroom alone. An outfit was neatly laid out on my side of the bed. A very long dress with a high neckline and a cardigan to cover my arms. It wasn't the bruises he didn't want people seeing it was my skin. He believed that my face was the only thing people should really see of me in public.

I quickly got dressed while he wasn't in the same room. I could already feel myself beginning to sweat and we hadn't gone out into the heat. I took a deep breath in, before leaving the room. I looked down at the staircase before me, I wonder if I threw myself some them what would happen. Would my head bounce off of every step? What would he do? I cleared my head of those thoughts as I took the first step, I was half way down the stairs and I could see the front door.

Another step and I was that little bit closer. I reached the bottom step and I was still alone. If only it was as simple as just walking out the front door. I took a heavy step towards the door and looked down seeing the blinking red light with a scowl.

Walking towards the kitchen I clicked the kettle while glancing outside the window. A white butterfly flew passed going towards the big blue sky. I tried following it with my eyes but it had vanished, blending in with the floating fluffy clouds.

The loud noise from the roaring water broke me out of my unproductive staring. I poured the water into the cup that was occupying a tea bag. Slowly the transparent water was dominated by the color now coming from the tiny bag. "You won't be having any breakfast this morning."

"Why not?" His body stilled as he stood next to the stove. He wasn't use to me questioning him.

"Because I said so." Was his short answer as he began cracking eggs into his pan. The muscle in his arm flexed as he began to whisk, the white of his knuckles could be seen from his tight grip on the utensil.

"That's not really an answer," I retorted back sitting on a stool my fingers burning from the hot cup that I was strangling in my hands.

"You don't need an answer. When I say something you listen that's all! You don't need to know unnecessary things, I know what's best for you," I rolled my eyes hearing his words fall from his delusional lips. Having his fist aggressively kiss my flesh was good for me in his books and so was forcing himself on me.

Looking at his broad tall stature made me feel sick. When I was left alone most days I would think about the other girls that had become one of the Taken like me and I was glad he was truthful to his nature. He behaved like a monster. Something they all were. Most of the Weres who had mates are overly in love and suffocatingly kind and gentle. It was all a facade, they're beasts who didn't feel love, they only had an obsession with their mate.

He sat on the stool a few inches away from me. I could feel his body heat lick and wrap it's way around my skin. I could feel him on me, my finger nails reached up towards my arm closest to him and began to scratch. I could feel his hands run across my body, then his lips and the light warning of his teeth scraping against my skin. Antagonizing me as to wether or not he would sink them into me to see the reaction.

The more I began to get lost in my thoughts the rougher my nails started digging into my flesh. His head turned a fraction and his nostrils moved slowly as he took a deep breath before looking at me. He had smelt my blood before I had even realized I had hurt myself so badly.

"What're you doing?" His eyes were glued to the injury I had caused.

"I was just itchy," I grumbled out pulling my sleeve back down. He only grunted getting up from where he sat.

"Make sure you bring a pair of pajamas with you for when you are coming home," he didn't look over his shoulder to see if I was listening. He expected me to hear his every word and oblige as quickly as possible.

"Why? Will it be night time by the time we leave?" His laughter made my cheeks turn scarlet because of the effect of feeling ashamed and belittled.

"You really don't know why we're going here do you?" He grinned in a menacing way. He liked the fact that I was clueless. He enjoyed me being vulnerable thinking that I would have to rely on him. But I wasn't his little bitch that needed him for anything.

Instead of going upstairs to get a pair of pajamas I went into the utility room. There was a clean pair of pajamas that were now crisp dry on the clothes horse. I snickered knowing that it'd get under his skin with this choice of pajamas. I held a soft baby blue nightdress in my hands, it came to my knees and had short frilly sleeves. I stuffed them in a small backpack with a pair of fluffy socks and slippers.

The moment he seen me when I made my way back into the kitchen he fidgeted around with the security bracelet around my neck before he dragged me out the door. He nodded to the two beings who stood outside the door, they didn't even acknowledge me. Once inside the car I had to try and even out my breaths. Something that was becoming normal. Trying to calm myself down and ignore the inner turmoil. I wiped my clammy hands against my clothes but as soon as I wiped them they were sweating again. The Beta was happily drumming his thumbs on the steering wheel in tune to the song that was surrounding us. I didn't recognize the song. He kept smiling and looking over at me in a creepy way making the hairs on my arms stand.

I took a deep breath in, trying to slow down the palpitations. All I could hear through the irritating music was the thumping of his fingers. I tried distracting my mind but everything kept leading back to him and the noise he was making. With every bang of his finger I felt my heart beginning to start it's race. Slowly it was picking up its pace, was the swirling in my ears reminded me of how fans would roar cheering on the contestant that they wanted to win.

I was staring out the window of the car but I couldn't focus on anything directly. The scenery started to blend in together and it wasn't because of the speed the Beta was driving at. I could feel my heart bashing against my ribs like a wild bird that would frantically move around trying to escape it's cage. I could now feel it in my throat, the air wasn't coming as easily as it was a moment ago. "Stop the car!" I shouted while gulping in air. The brakes jammed on, the seat belt caught me in its strong grasp just as I went forward in my seat.

Before the Beta could say anything I was out of the car with my hands above my head taking in deep gulps of the fresh air. "What was that?" He snapped watching me breath in the air as if it was water and I was in a desert for days without having a drop.

"I feel sick, I think it might be motion sickness," my words left my mouth slowly. His mouth never opened, he just walked back to the car only to come back a second later with a bottle of water. I was hesitant to take it as he handed it to me. I was in shock.

"Are you feeling any better now? We can wait a few more minutes if you need it," he cleared his throat. It was the first time he seemed out of place and by the expression he had he felt unsure with what to do. I enjoyed seeing him that way, he wasn't exuding confidence like a moron.

I looked up towards the sky and began counting the clouds in hopes it'd calm me down. The warm air filled my lungs at a normal pace but I stood there jut a little longer. I knew I could stand here all day but I would still end up going to where the Beta wanted to take me.

I got back into the car before the Beta. He stood there in a daze. His eyes weren't clouded over telling me he wasn't talking through mind link, but he was in deep conversation with himself. Breaking from his trance he made his way over to the drivers seat. The engine began to hum while the Beta prepared himself to start driving again. Instead of focusing on him and letting myself fall into a frenzy fit I counted the clouds as we drove. It looked like they were running, free to roam wherever they wanted. I was so focused on them that I hadn't realized the car had stopped until he opened my door.

A dark grey building stood before me. There was no writing on the outside to tell people what it was which is quite strange. The Beta held the door open for me and the smell of chemicals burned my nose. Bright white lights stung my eyes as we walked deep into the clean and bright hallways. A woman with a clip looked up and made her way towards us.

"Good morning Beta, if you would like to follow me." She didn't look at me once but I could see that there was fear in her eyes. She walked down to an isolated hallway and brought us into a big room. I felt a prick on my finger making me flinch as she pressed my bleeding finger onto a small plastic strip. I recognized what she was doing because I had seen my Nana do it so many times before.

"Here is a gown for your mate, I will wait outside the door until you are both ready to be escorted to the theater room," she was like a robot. Stiff and unfriendly.

"Strip, the quicker you have this on the faster we can go," he threw the paper thin blue gown at me. I was too tired to argue so I stripped with no shame. I stood up once it was on and turned around so he could tie the strings at the back.

We walked back outside the room and began following the nurse to where they would do god knows what to me. We passed by many patients and they all gave me a long hard stare. It wasn't the fact that I was human that had them eyeing me up so hard, when I looked a little closer I could see the underlining glimmer of pity in every pair of their signature dark orbs. They looked at my bruises in confusion but I don't know why.

We came to a set of heavy metal doors. The Betas strong hand pushed against the cold steel tilting his head telling me to move. The room was terrifying, the doctors had on their attire for surgery and that made me even more nervous since it was that bit more realistic. The metal trays held all different types of medical tools and I could feel a cold sweat starting to break out. I looked towards the Beta, his cold eyes cut me harder then the doctors scalpel would.

"Now Lilah isn't it? I'm just going to ask you to get up here on the bed for me is that okay?" I was taken back by this Weres politeness. I slowly nodded sitting on the bed before pulling my toes up off the ground. "Now this will be a quick procedure but we're going to have to ask you to put this mask and take a few big deep breaths for me okay?" He placed the mask over my nose and mouth as soon as my body was lying down. With each panicking breath I could feel myself becoming droopier and droopier.

"How many?" The doctor asked asking my 'mate'. He held up his hand with all this fingers stretched out. The doctor frowned, "Beta I wouldn't advise-". Another deep breath and my eyes were starting to close as the Beta moved closer to my limp body.

"I don't care what you advise I said five. Thats an order." My eyes were the last thing I could feel, and suddenly they closed and I was gone.

My eyes opened trying to find where the beeping noise was coming from. I stared at a white ceiling that was so clean, it looked like someone could defy gravity and would get up there and mop it.

I tried sitting up and a piercing sharp pain shot up my vagina. I felt like I had been stretched and probed in a non gentle way. I whimpered feeling the pains obviously not having any strong medications still in my system.

I glanced at the end of my bed and held my breath looking at what was at the end of my bed. The whole room was disgustingly bright and was full of light but his face was cast in shadows. He looked dark and dangerous, it was not the same kind of dark and dangerous combo that most girls wanted. This was sinister, he smiled in a way that it made goosebumps appear on my skin. He had got his own way.

It was like I blinked and we were parked outside of my prison cell. His house. I was weak and all the energy I had earlier on when I woke up was zapped out of me. He came around and helped me out of the car, kindly escorting me to hell. He opened the door, his grin widening even more then since I had woken up. We started walking towards the kitchen where Emmett stood in the doorframe. I made contact with him directly in the eyes and I pickes up on the same emotion that I received from the people in the hospital sympathy.

Emmett moved and I could see the outline of two people. They stood in front of the window bathing in the light and I couldn't see them. I looked back at the Beta, it was as if the shadows were attached to him. Something that was apart of him that showed a sliver of what he was like on the inside. His face was engulfed by the shadow, the only feature I could see was the dark pits that held such intensity. I looked back to the unrecognizable people. It was only when I took into the smaller beings height and the blonde curls that was resembling a halo from the rays of light raining down on him, did I realize who it was.

I felt the devils arm wrap around my waist pulling me towards his burning body. His finger tips lightly grazed my tummy where my belly button was. His lips moved down towards me until he was close to my ear. His voice was that of a whisper but his strong voice had me trembling. "You keep my family safe and I'll keep yours." That was the one trigger that brought back my energy.

Hope you all enjoyed comment and let me know what you think! ~ Ari (p.s if anyone wants to make a new cover feel free too.)

There has been a recent death in my family and it was unexpected and very tragic so I don't know if the sadness will help me update more or what so I don't know when the next update will be.
