I stared at the bowl of soup hoping it would give me answers. Answers to what I don't really know, why things turned out this way? Why did my family have to suffer so badly when we lived a good life before the Werewolves revealed themselves. My mother and father would bring me along to help feed the homeless in soup kitchens at least twice a month in the big city a few miles away from where we lived. We religiously donated to charity and my parents helped fundraising for noble causes. We lived a good life wanting to help others better themselves and now we're the ones struggling to survive and half a tin of soup was sometimes your only meal.
I glanced over at my Nana coddling the small child wrapped tightly in bundles of blankets she had knitted while my mother was pregnant.
Silence was the most comon thing to surround us. The house felt lonely, even though the house wasn't barren of life it was empty. The smells of my mothers delicious dishes no longer swam through every room available. My fathers voice of reassurance was no where to be contained in these walls.
I glanced down at the bundle of sallow pink skin, his button nose so tiny and his big blue eyes untainted by anything, nestled behind his softly shut lids undisturbed. I wouldn't let anything happen to my brother. I looked up towards my Nana her expression of worry looked like it has been painted by an artist. She worried for her son who was tangled in war and his children who had been left in her care. I wouldn't let anything happen to her either.
Noises could be heard from outside along with howls and growls from the abominations that harassed us on a daily basis. "Lilah petal, why don't you head on up to bed." Without questioning her I made my way through the empty house. I knew this place would never go back to the way it was, not because of the new race that had come out of hiding, it was because everything had changed. I wasn't too sure it could be fixed so easily. It had been months since they war had been won, neither of my parents came home yet. I wasn't really expecting them too. I had weeped already for both of them and the numbing reality that neither of them would walk through these halls again was present everyday.
I had changed into my pajamas and lay under my blanket. My eyes gravitated towards the moonlight seeping in through my curtain-less window. I had always had a fascination with the moon as a child I would constantly draw it over and over again, mesmerized by its beauty. But I was beginning to resent it. The moon was a symbol of power to the Beasts. They believed it was a sign of their goddess forever looking down on them. Each full moon gave the goddess the power to predict every soulmate for the children to be born until the next cycle.
It felt like I was awake for hours staring at something once beautiful and now tainted like most things in this world. My attention was pulled away from the glowing orb in the sky to the noise of the door opening downstairs. I quietly creeped out of bed a fire poker in my hand, armed incase of an intruder. That was when I heard the interaction downstairs. I creeped down a few stairs just enough to see into the kitchen. A pang of relief hit my chest, all I could make out was the silhouette of a man. The voice I could pluck out and name in crowd of a thousand talking people. It was my father.
I couldn't really make out what my nana was saying but I wasn't trying to hear her very hard. Shock had consumed my body. I had believed to my core that he wasn't going to return.
"Where's Lilah?" He asked gently taking my brother in his arms.
"I sent her to bed I thought there was commotion outside."
"Good, she needs her rest. I will see her in the morning." His voice was slightly clipped, a coldness coating his tone.
"Where-where is-?" My Nana's voice was hesitant but I knew what she was asking and so did he.
"She's dead." Was the only reply she got.
"What-how?" The questions had blurted out of her without considering it to be blunt.
"A Beast sank their teeth into her neck and she was taken. So she's dead." There was no emotion to be heard from my fathers voice. "-and that is what you tell Lilah it'll be easier for her to mourn a mother who she thinks is six feet under than a woman who will be brain washed and used as a puppy mill. They mean the same thing at the end of the day."
I blinked tearing my eyes away from the backyard view. That's what I should be to Beau and my Nana, dead. It was easier that way if they had just pretended I died. Kill me off from their wandering minds. I had sat for hours sometimes wondering where my mother was, what she was doing, how she was being treated. But my father had been right it was easier to imagine that she was permanently gone.
"Have you been keeping up with your new food plan?" I glanced over towards Marcus who was filling out papers.
"Yes I have." The plan now consisted with me eating foods with higher quantities of protein, fats, carbohydrates and supplements, a way to get my nutrients into me better.
"Are our pups growing at a normal rate?" Doom and gloom asked from over in the corner.
"It has only been a week so there shouldn't be a lot of growth but all Were pregnancies are different. We should have you come by my office tomorrow so we can do a complete check up." He finished writing and smiled with closed lipped, it wasn't genuine. After a few short words discussed with the Beta he left, the door closed sounding deafening to me.
I went back to scrubbing the plate that I had been washing since the Beta came into the kitchen. We both knew it was clean by now. I didn't notice his presence behind me until his hands slithered underneath my own to rest on my stomach. I froze, uneasiness had become my new best friend since I was taken here and it was suffocating me in a hug right now. "We will go to a different Doctor for the health of the pups. Marcus is a human so he may examine you."
I ignored his words not caring for them much. Five, I had five of them living inside of me. Not one monster who would stretch my skin and absorb all of my energy from the inside but five. I had always imagined a pregnancy to be magical but the only way to explain this was being violated and shackled by something inside of my own body. I was nutritioning and helping something I wasn't fond of grow inside of me, I was a host. Just a shell for them to feed from until they didn't need me anymore and I would be completely depleted and exhausted of all my vitality.
"I was thinking we should go out shopping for the pups nursery today? I will try and be around more frequently during your pregnancy but I will still have to handle pack duty." His lips grazed my cheek, I could hear him taking in deep breaths breathing me in. A mate's scent was addictive to the Weres, like a drug that they could never get enough of.
"I'm capable enough to take care of myself," I cleared my throat beginning to dry the dish. He took it out of my hand, then turing me towards him. His fingers gingerly touched the side of my face before tenderly touching tendrils of my hair. He leaned down and his searing lips touched mine. His tongue broke the seal of my lips slipping it's way into my mouth. I was in the most vulnerable position pressed against the cupboard perfect for him to take control. His tongue encouraged mine to move but it was clear that he was the dominant one. Everything he done proved that he had power over me.
He pulled back resting his head against my forehead growling in content. "You know the moment our pups were placed in your womb our scents intermingled permanently. It's the most amazing smell, it's unmistakable that you belong to me now."
For once he sounded content. All other Weres would know I was preganant with his pups. I would be forever stained with his smell because of the pups he had forced inside of my body.

It was as though I had blinked and we had been teleported outside of the house. The car ride was a blur to me and it took a few minutes to realise that we were in a store that sold baby supplies. The Beta was estatic telling the employee that was following us around what he wanted, you could see she was becoming flustered trying to write everything down and keep up. He had the cots that he wanted picked out. Five cots. I had to keep reminding myself that I had five little things inside of me that were waiting to flourish.
We kept walking through the store coming to the clothes section. The employee got the Beta a cart and left to do up the rest of his order. It was strange seeing him look at the miniture clothes, he couldn't contain his excitement and it was written all over his face.
"Do you think we should get these ones? Maybe we should just get all the boy collection they have?" He grumbled out glancing towards me looking for my opinion.
"What has you so convinced your pups will be boys?" I raised my brow genuinely curious.
"Our pups will be all boys I know it." I knew he had made up his mind and would have the entire baby boy collection.
We made our way towards the maternity section making my stomach drop. Everything was beginning to settle in. How would I carry five pups. How the hell was I going to be able to give birth to them!
The Beta had began growling mine since we left the house towards anyone who walked by us male or female. His claws had been touching me since he kissed me in the kitchen. They weren't subtle touches either they were territorial and full of possession.
I didn't pay attention to how much money he had just spent, I knew it would be more than what everyone where I use to live would make in a month combined.
Once again I had shut my eyes and when I opened them again we were seated in a restaurant. I was beginning to lose the concept of time, hours felt like seconds. I had forgotten already what the Beta had ordered me. He sat holding my hand rubbing his thumb against my knuckles or kissing them. "What would you like to do when we return home?" His question sounded harmless but the intensity in his stare wasn't.
"I was thinking I could bake a cake for my brother coming for dinner with my nana and the alpha this evening." I cleared my throat feeling uncomfortable from his close proximity. One good thing had come from the Alpha's visit the other day, he deemed it unnecessary for me to attend Madam Olc's classes.
I could feel his brooding eyes on me, just because I was now carrying his spawn didn't mean he stopped wanting to have sex with me. He leaned down kissing my cheek gliding down towards my neck gently sucking my scarred skin. "We could cook together if you want to Li." That was the first time he had called me that. I didn't like it.
"That sounds fine with me Donovan." The purring from his chest while hearing his name fall from my lips didn't settle well with me. He was suprisingly a lot calmer the past few days which I find mildly confusing.
The waiter brought out our order. I wasn't shocked when I saw the heaping portions in the oddly shaped plate. He had ordered salmon, with mashed potatoes and vegetables. I lay my head on the palm of my hand as he began to feed me. My dignity was slowly corroding away, I think he knew this and relished in it. Wanting nothing but my willing submission.
With every bite of food it left a disgusting tate in my mouth. Every mouthful reminded me of the many cold nights with an empty belly, laying awake in the blackest hours of the night, anxiety not allowing me to sleep. Had Beau gone through that when I was taken? How many innocent people experienced this everyday because they had been segregated for being Human.
They weren't willing to live their lives where people had choices. In the very beginning of the Weres coming out of hiding people had been okay with them. They were co-operating with scientists so both species could fully understand our differences. People were accepting, remorseful for the race as they comprehended what it must have been like to conceal who they were for so long. Then came the complication of mates. Since people had started to accept them, they anticipated that everyone would welcome their idea of mates. They believed it was tolerable in our slowly unifing society to force a realtionship on to someone. When they began becoming hostile towards human mates that refused to share a bond with them people began to question their ways. We as humans had fought to have a voice no matter the gender and they couldn't comprehend that some individuals wouldn't consent to wanting to be intimately involved with them. That was when they began abducting some of the human population, that was when the troubles started.

The noise of metal on metal echoed around the room. Donovan sat crossed leg assembling the cot. He decided he wouldn't do them all together, but gradually have the room combine. I glanced down at my stomach in wonderment, it was slightly swollen but I was hoping it was due to all the food I was being forced to eat because it was impossible that the things would have a noticeable growth yet.
"I think I'll start cooking now, Don." I bit my tongue in a chastising way. I had called him Don so easily it had slipped off of my tongue.
He glanced at me noticing it. "I like it when you call me that," satisfaction laced in his rich voice. "I'm just going to finish this and then I'll help." determination and excitement was the only way to describe the emotions coming off him in waves.
I could still hear the tools being used upstairs seeing this as an opportunity I quickly boiled the kettle, just because I was preganant didn't mean I would stop drinking my magic tea. I heaped a tea spoon of the mixture the Alpha had given me into my cup, hopefully this would kill the bastards.
I began chopping up some vegetables humming to myself. I may feel guilty eating foods that my people didn't have the privilege to have, but I couldn't let that get in the way of my need to take care of Beau. He needed to be strong and healthy, so I was going to bulk him out with food.
My mind began to wander off down a deep dark valley that I had been tabling for so long. I let out a yelp when searing pain came from the knife slitting my finger. The sharp blade had sliced the side of my finger, tears sprang to my eyes and I bit my lip for being such a whimp.
I tried analysing the injury to see how bad it was, but I had to blink. My skin was slowly staring to stick back together? "What the f-" I was cut off by a frantic looking Beta.
"Are you okay mate I heard you scream?" I nodded my head staring at my finger in disbelief. He approached me grabbing my hand to see what I was staring at, he chuckled a smirk plastering his face. He could smell my blood from upstairs but he was not alarmed at all. He simply laughed.
"What's so fucking funny?" I hurled at him. He simply kept laughing.
"It's just a perk," he picked up the knife I was using and took off from where I stopped.
"A perk from what?" There was no denying the harshness in my voice.
"Don't worry your pretty little head about it. I'll finish the rest of the prepping, why don't you bake that cake you wanted. I don't think you can hurt yourself doing that."
I kept my mouth shut, my lips sealing in all that I yearned to say. Now was not the time to say them, I didn't know when that would be though exactly. I wasn't submitting to him, I was just being smart about it. With each cracking of the egg I made I imagined the sound of it being his skull, a small smile graced my face, he noticed. Little did he know what was really going through my pretty little head.
I took a shallow breath, maybe I'd get to witness him dying someday. Deep down I was hoping it'd be from my own hands.
