I stood still, shock clouding my eyes not grasping what she had just told me. Humans she created my race. Did werewolves know this? Why didn't we know this?

She smiled her glistening teeth glinting at me like the stars above. "You need to go now Lilah, make sure you hold your breath."

I frowned opening my mouth about to ask her why when I was suddenly thrown into the sea by an invisible force. I quickly broke the surface of the water taking a deep breath before I was plunged back under. The water was so dark I couldn't see anything. My lungs screamed and my heart thrashed around in my ribcage. The burn in my throat was the reminder of the desperate need to breath. My lids began to droop, unconsciousness slowly taking over. My tired eyes picked up on something glowing in front of me, they were letters RJW.

Something cold touched against my feet, it slowly began pushing me upwards. The icy feeling that licked my soles felt similar to when the Moon Goddess kissed me. It was her energy pushing me forward. I was surrounded by bright blue waters, I looked upwards to see the surface of the water above. The silver and gold moon glowed vibrantly, the closer I approached the surface the brighter it shined.

My head broke through the rippling water, coughing hysterically. The letters RJW were burned into my eyelids, they vividly glowed every second I closed my eyes. Hands grabbed onto my wrists heaving me out of the water. I was roughly dragged out of the pool of glowing water. I lay on my back breathing heavily. I turned my head to see people praying. They sat on their heels with their forehead pressed to the ground and their hands outstretched in front of them. Their chants and cries echoed throughout the temple, passing on their message of worship to their Goddess.

I sat up slightly my eyes catching the radiating and pulsing moon painting on the ceiling that I could see clearly even when in the water. The Alpha sat observing me carefully. He had no words to describe what he just witnessed. I was curious as to what he had witnessed while I was not present. We stared at one another, neither one of us breaking the stare. I could see the doubt in his eyes as to if it was real. It was not until his eyes glazed over did I look away. Behind me I could hear the footsteps of people retreating at the commands of their Alpha.

"One minute I felt your presence beside me and then you're in the pool slowly sinking. I tried to grab your hands but the water was so cold it burned and then it began to freeze over. The whole top layer of water froze over but it was crystal clear, I could see you at the bottom of the pool. You didn't panic not even for a second, you almost looked at peace-" His voice was full of disbelief and confusion.

"How are you alive?" He whispered not able to grasp the thought of me surviving.

"I was only under for a few seconds," I reasoned with him.

"No Lilah, you were under the water for over a half an hour maybe even past forty minutes." His head shook from side to side, his mouth still slightly agape.

"She wants me alive." I whispered out. I hadn't realized what I said but I knew he had heard me.

"Why does the Moon Goddess want you alive?" Curiosity swam through his dark orbs. Waiting to drink in the answer that I could give him.

"Did you know we were her first children? Humans, my kind are her first creation. You praise her and yet your kind have mistreated her children so badly." I couldn't help but snarl at him the hatred that had brewed within me for years shinning through the cracks of my patience. I was adapting their mannerism, snarling and showing teeth was not a common human trait, I mentally scolded myself.

"What makes you think that our mother birthed your kind?" He couldn't contain his snarl.

"Because she told me herself!" I growled back sneering in his face. His threatening teeth not igniting the fear that his cousin does. No one could frighten me as much as him.

His eyes turned cold and distant. They didn't gloss over because of any mind-link, he was simply thinking. Without warning my forearm was gripped tightly as I trailed behind him.

"Where are you taking me now?" I hissed out.

"To find answers." He grumbled back.

We headed towards the exit, leaving the beautiful building behind us. My tongue burned and was heavy with the need to break the silence that engulfed us. But I didn't I was scared of him asking questions that I wouldn't answer. I wanted the attention away from me, I was confused and honestly frightened at my own reality even if it was that.

The silence followed us until we had reached his car. The pur of the engine was soothing but I wasn't finding comfort hearing it's lull. I tried to keep my composure trying not show how terrified I was in this situation. I was living with a monster who had impregnated me and now I was being coaxed into something with a deity.

"What happened to your mate?" The question shocked me even though I had asked it. The fear of being inquisitive forgotten. I noticed the Alpha flinch completely caught of guard, his hands tightening around the steering wheel.

There was a long pregnant silence once again. I felt uncomfortable and decided to busy myself by looking out the window only to see the dense greenery.

"I've never had to talk about it before," he whispered out. My head turned to look at him, my mouth opening to reassure him that it wasn't necessary to tell me. Yet I didn't say anything, I wanted him to tell me curious even if it caused him pain to think about.

"No one has ever asked me to talk about what happened. The whole pack found out without me having to explain it, probably one of the reasons why I cope so well. I've locked it in a box and buried it so deep that it won't hurt me, but it doesn't work like that. Physically I get pains at the thought of her.

Winter was coming to an end and the snow had began to melt. It was like a sludge but bearable to run in our fur form. I don't think you will ever understand the hunger that your wolf feels after a long winter, the hunger to feel the wind through your fur and to finally pick up on a deers scent that you can stalk and hunt. Some pack members and I decided to go on a hunt and to bring the game back for the pack, an act of celebration that we all survived the winter.

We could all sense something crossing the borders that shouldn't have. Rouges are more likely to attack packs when we are in this state because some pack members are weak from the grueling months of being cooped up. With all of our beast up front and on high alert we separated and instead of deer we began hunting the trespasser wolves.

I was gaining on top of this small wolf and just as my snout wrapped around it's jugular I came into a clearing where my brother was present. He looked at me like I was a monster as my jaws clenched around the small wolfs neck. I had dropped the wolf as I was hit by this smell there was another dainty wolf stood in front me injured severely tiredly lying on the ground defeatedly. It was my mate. Her eyes only met mine briefly but I could see the reluctance and the lack of fight in them. I never saw her open them again. I never saw her in her skin, only her furs.

The brother was nudging the wolf, that I had just ended it's life moments ago, with his snout whimpering. I killed his mate. We captured the other Rogues and they told us why they were in our territory. They were all Females, fleeing their new Alpha, another Rogue who challenged their original Alpha and won. He had chained all of the males in the pack in the pack cellars and was using the she-wolves anyway he saw fit. My mate had been beaten and badly injured by him before they fled and those injuries had killed her."

Tears brimmed his eyes as he told me the story. Although I didn't understand what they grew up believing I sympathized trying to imagine what it was like to watch the person you were 'destined' to be with die in front of you without even meeting them.

"The Alpha paid for what he did and I also expanded my land."

"You killed the Alpha?" I asked hesitantly. That could be the only answer.

"Normally when an Alpha is challenged it is a battle to the death unless they submit. A blood born Alpha would never submit meaning it would alway end in death, but he wasn't a true Alpha. He submitted and I've had him locked away ever since." His smile was malicious but his eyes held rage and despair.

"How many years ago did your mate die?"

"Talia was taken from me seven years ago and I've let him him feel my wrath every morning and every evening everyday since I lost her."
