I couldn't fathom the idea of the extremes that Rowan went through to torture the Alpha that harmed his mate. Seven years was a long time to get creative. I didn't know how long I had been with Donovan but he had showed me how creative people can get. The name on my back was proof of that.

"You said we are going to get answers. Does that mean we're going to a library or something?" I asked trying to change the subject. He stared blankly at me. His eyes secretly questioning if I was serious or not.

"The type of answers that we are looking for won't be common knowledge that is available to my pack." Was his simple reply. Making me wonder why or if the answer we were looking for we're going to be good answers or not.

"Then where are we going?" I was almost coming accustomed to the feeling of being confused. It was something I loathed.

"We are going to an elder, an ex council member his name is Rub-" he was cut short by me jumping in.

"RJW?" The glowing initials still present in the inside skin of my lids.

"Yes, Rubin J. Wayland. How do you know his name?"

"The moon goddess showed me his initials and I read a page out of his book I remember his name now that you say it," I mused.

"Only a page, goddess you must be a slow reader," he teased trying to lighten the mood.

"I would have read more but beast boy confiscated it," I grumbled out kicking myself mentally as I admitted to the power he had over me.

I watched the scenery roll by outside my window. I had always loved the forest something I inherited from my father, he always smelled of the woods that were a few yards away from our back garden.

"Why do you hate us?" My eyes bulged at his random question. "I mean I've always wanted to hear a humans reasoning for hating us. Maybe even to hear the mistakes that was made or a resolution to fixing the problems."

My laugh echoed around us, I could see the confused glint in Rowan's eyes. He had flinched when I first start laughing. The sound that came from my mouth wasn't that of an amused tone but an ominous one.

"There is so many reasons to hate your kind. Your kind has created a system where my kind is oppressed all because your kind didn't have the patience or the respect to understand our set of values before this dystopia. You all practically forced the ideology of mates down our throats and expected use to swallow such a big pill obediently.

Our previous system before your kind was made with the conscious notion that we had choices. We had our own will and freedom to decide what we would do with our lives. Your kind couldn't understand that some people didn't want the life that comes with being a mate.

The reason I hate your kind is simple. The mistreatment of my race can not be justified, it was the Werewolves conscious decision to stay in hiding for thousands of years we did not oppress you or treat you with the persecution that we face daily! Our once safe homes are now dangerous slums. Woman are raped daily! People are murdered! My own father was murdered by a savage mongrel! You only recently assigned guards to sector two because of rebels, the safety of the vulnerable never consider for how many years? You can all act or pretend that you care or want to do better, you can try and fix the mistake but no bandage will ever make humans forgive or forget the cruelty of your kind." I hissed out my breath coming quicker than usual. My blood flared with hatred, the hatred that always simmered close to the surface of my orbs. Only visible if you were quick enough to catch it.

"I'm sorry," his voice cracked. "You know it was hard trying to figure out our new place in the world but I guess there was a selfishness by not taking humans into the equation I agree with you there. You know I only became Alpha two years ago, I had taken over the role after my father. He had such a strong hatred for humans, it was rebels that had murdered my mother. I didn't blame the whole race because you can't paint everyone with the same brush." He whispered the last part with a pointed look.

"Emmett and yourself seem to be the only Weres that I know that don't blatantly take advantage of the power dynamic that is present, so I think it's safer to paint you all with the same brush. After all you allowed your cousin to collar me like a dog, you might be helping me now but I wonder would you be the same if there wasn't something so wrong with Donovan." I mused keeping his tense form under my scrutinizing gaze.

His jaw knotted noticeably as he stayed quiet. There was nothing for him to say or to convince me otherwise he would have been wasting his time.

The terrain became much denser and rockier. The car suddenly came to a stop as we neared the bottom of a towering mountain.

"We need to go on foot from here," he grumbled out both of us gazing up at the craggy rocks. My hands instinctually grazed over my stomach.

I followed behind the tall brooding Alpha male. His footsteps gracefully fell upon the rough ground, I tried matching his expert footing but the agility that he held was more than lacking when it came to me. I hesitantly placed my cautious foot on the jagged floor the fear of falling highly present. My leg slipped and just as I was falling backwards a hand shot out to grab my own. I gasped as my head looked down to analyze the unforgiving fall that would have taken me. My breath came fast from lack of exercise and the anxiety as the shock of how high up we were fell upon me.

Soon we came to a mouth of cave Rowan still had my hand trapped in his own. I don't particularly mind since the darkness of the cave swallowed my human senses whole leaving my blind. Rowan would be my guide dog, obediently helping me find my way, leading me. I couldn't keep track of which direction we were going in every few seconds we were taking a different turn.

"What is this a maze," I whispered annoyed at him. The ache in my feet hurt, the shoes I was wearing wasn't suitable for the climb up the hill and the strain I felt made me grind my teeth.

"Yes it is." Was his short reply. I didn't push further on the matter knowing he wasn't in the best of moods.

I could hear Rowan fidget with something, it wasn't until I heard the groan and strain did I notice that it was a huge heavy metal door that he was opening after putting in the combination code in to unlock the mechanical locks. As the door opened my eyes flinched at the dim light streaming through the crack of the door. I was pulled through gently the loud boom of the door falling back into it's locks bounced off of my back.

"What is this place?" I whispered looking towards the concentrating wolf. He was breathing in the air or should I say sniffing it. Trying to pinpoint a scent.

"This is one of the older concealed hideouts, it was created by my grandfather and my father created some around the territory as well. I continued to have some built that only a select few know about. In just over two years I've taken over four different territories each one has a hidden entrance that leads to an underground system that your government created." We walked through the lit cave the future we venture in the light got brighter.

With a turn behind a stone wall we suddenly came to a living room area where a man sat reading. The coffee table in front of him was a mess with papers everywhere books were piled high all over the ground making it difficult to walk towards him.

He put his book down and chocolate eyes met mine. He was an aged man with wrinkles gracing his face but there was no doubt he was a beautiful being in his youth. He had dark mocha skin that was only a few shades lighter than his dark long hair that was piled on top of his head in dreads. Grey streaks ran through his hair and through his long beard that adorned his face.

"Rowan, well isn't it nice of you visit me again. How many time has been now in just a month? Not that I don't enjoy your company but who is this new face you've brought along with you?" He smiled gently at me. He could have passed for human but his slightly sharp and bigger canines gave him away.

"My names Lilah." I answered him with a short and simple answer.

"Rubin," he murmured even though I already knew his name. "A human, what has you bringing a human down here Rowan?" His dark eyes daringly looked the Alpha in the eyes.

"She is Beta Donovan's mate," he coughed out clearing his throat. The damp and thick air down here was slightly uncomfortable. "-Lilah has also been visited by the Moon Goddess."

Rubin's eyes were ablaze with amazement and curiosity. The mention of the goddess that he had written about intriguing him.

"What did she speak of?" This was the first of his questions and I knew there was thousands that he wanted answers to.

"She wants me to accept and protect his pups." I grumbled out still not keen on the idea.

"Your children? You're pregnant?" He pondered looking at my swollen stomach.

"Yes I am with five fetuses."

"And what else has the Mother told you?" He wondered his eyes solely focused on me ignoring the domineering male.

"She told me that my daughter would be the answer to saving her first children, humans."

"But the Mother hasn't told you anything about herself or about anything else?" I shook my head no to his question.

"She told me to find you, I take it you can explain things a lot better to me?"

"We'll have to begin from the very beginning. The universe has there own celestial being, the mother and father of the universe. The Mother of the Universe is called Acalia and the Father is Avner.

Acalia and Avner birth another mother and father for each planet that are in the galaxy. The mother and father of our planet is Selene and Athanasios. Each being is the opposite of the other so that there is balance. Selene is the mother of life and Athanasios is the father of death.

Both Selene and Athanasios created everything that is on our planet. They wanted to create something that mirrored themselves, a being that had the same intelligence. Selene was the one who began trying to create your kind. She had created a being with four legs, four arms, two different genitalia and a single head with two faces. It was a hideous creature called Androgynous, Selene decided to split the being in two but there souls still connected. This created humans and soulmates. Selene wanted her creation to be kind, compassionate and forgiving.

Athanasios was jealous of the love and devotion Selene had for her creation so he decided he would create his own. He thought his other-half's creation was weak and pitiful. He created a being that would be able to blend in with Selene's, they were beautiful beings that created temptation. Their senses were a hundred times heightened than humans. But they had something that separated them from humans completely, they had the ability to transform into a beast. It was monstrous a being that could stand on two or four legs, it's skin was thick like a rhinos, with thick fur that hid it. It's talons could shred anything into ribbons and its jaws were twice as powerful as a lions.

Athanasios enjoyed watching his creation slaughter humans or taking them as their own. His creatures didn't have soulmates but the beast decided who they'd chose as their own. It was called the calling. These beings are called Lycanthrope or Lycans for short. For hundred of years they ruled over earth as the superior race and humans lived in fear. Athanasios had chosen a Lycan to be an Alpha King over all the beings.

Selene feared her other half because of his cruel ways, but she couldn't bare to witness the mistreatment of her children. She felt as though she was neglecting them. She challenged Athanasios, it was a battle so great that it broke the Pangaea creating that different continents that we have now. But the Mother didn't have the strength to finish Athanasios of so she banished him, where to is unknown.

It was not in the Mother Nature to kill or slaughter so instead she used her power of creation instead. She took the Lycan and took away Athanasios gift to the them their beast and gave them a treasure of her own a soulmate. Their soulmate locked away their beast keeping them in content. She did not want to let her other-halfs creation to disappear completely so in order to separate them from humans she gifted them with another token of kindness, she gifted them furs. They still had the heightened senses that Athanasios gave them and they had the ability to changed from skins to fur."

I drank in all the details to the fairytale like story he told me. His voice was soothing and convincing.

"I don't understand what any of this has to do with me?" I pleaded with my eyes for an upfront answer.

"You see Lilah I was banished from the pack because they believed that this was only a story, folklore even to us Weres. A tale that meant nothing, but the Mother has visited me on many of occasions and has told me and showed me her truth. I was casted out of our pack because people feared what I exposed. Lycans strike fear in even the bravest of wolves and we believe Donovan is one of them."

"But how could Donovan be a Lycan if Athanasios is gone and I am his mate."

"Athanasios will return. He will strike fiercely against humans, one to spite Selene and two to show them that they are the prey and the ultimate inferior to his beings."

"How do you know he will return?"

"He grows as I fade I am to take his place in exile

Her heart beats one with his Blood entwined Souls bound together

I run through her blood Through generation to generation Both bloods mixed

An orb of blue amber and gold A crown of gold And silver shall grace her skin

She shall be reborn in the ashes of her Sanguis and Turba."

The moon goddess voice left Rubin's mouth as his eyes mirrored her own orbs that reflected the sky with a thousand twinkling lights. Her presence quickly left his body only staying to relay his message.

"She has told me the same prophecy over and over again for months now. Adamant that her time is nearly up and that her last prophecy needs to be understood." He began twisting his beard nervously keeping his eyes trained on my abdomen.

"How can you be certain Donovan is a Lycan?" My stomach began twisting in knots.

"We don't and we can't act on it until we do." Rowan spoke up since we arrived here, running his fingers through his hair. Rubin nodded agreeing with him.

"We would need solid evidence maybe even seeing him change into a Lycan form if possible but he wouldn't be stupid enough to blow his cover." Rowan grumbled.

My eyes narrowed in determination my stomach dropped nervously at the thought of seeing him transform like he did a few nights ago. But if I got him to do it once I could get him to do it again.
