Nike looked up and scowled, his whole body growing tense. He stuffed the gift in his jacket, not even trying to open it again. "We have company," he said, watching as my hands stiffened around the cup some. "Oh, you already know." He leaned back in his seat and relaxed, keeping his gaze on me. "Please can I open the gift that you had given me?" he asked, pouting. There was a small smirk on his face as he caught sight of my annoyed look. "I want to see what the amazing Alexandra DeLamont had given me."
"No, Nike," I said, rolling at my eyes at my last name. "It is not something that you can open now. Besides, if you open it now, then you will not have a gift for your birthday, from me, to open."
"Does that mean if I do open it, then you will come to my party? It just won't feel right without your glaring presence there standing in a corner, glaring at everyone who comes your way."
"I w-"
"Alexandra, what are you doing here?" Levi asked, interrupting me. His gaze was on me, and I could tell that he wanted me to look at him, but I didn't. "With him?"
"Coffee break," I replied, holding up my cup of coffee. I took another sip, scowling at Nike. "I don't understand why you decided to add another shot of espresso in here," I added, and he shrugged.
"It was that or something else. You are strange to your coffee."
"Having it black and adding two espresso shots isn't that weird. I have no idea why you are saying that it is."
"You are white, Alexandra," Nike said. "A white female. You all are supposed to like "pumpkin spiced" shit like lattes or vanilla lattes. You do not like it. Hell, I don't even know if you like pumpkins."
"Like pumpkin pie?" I asked, and he nodded in confirmation. "No, I do not. Can't stand the smell of them either."
"And why not?" Nike asked, taking a sip of his drink. He stopped when he caught my look and placed the cup down. "Guts?" he asked, and I nodded. "As in actual guts stuffed in something?"
"Yep," I replied, taking a sip of my drink. "And think smashing them as if they were the heads of people."
He pushed his cup away and cleared his throat, pulling his collar. "So... did my brother have to deal with it?"
"Yes," I replied. I glanced at Levi when I saw his mouth open. "It's nothing, don't worry about it. Just know I can not stand the taste of pumpkin."
"And, to answer your question, Levi, because Miss Alexandra over here isn't, I am asking her to go to my birthday party tomorrow. You and your... lovely girlfriend are invited with the community that you both faithfully serve." He eyed his drink, and I could tell that he wanted to drink it.
"Go on and drink it," I said, taking a sip of my drink. "I've just never liked pumpkin, even before that."
"Fuck it," Nike said, taking a sip of his drink. He closed his eyes and licked his lips, and I rolled my eyes and scowled. "Oh, Goddess, this is just so good, Alex. You don't have to be so bitter like your damn coffee."
"Fight me," I replied, and he smirked and raised an eyebrow.
"What will I get in return?" he asked, giving me a wink, and I could have sworn that Levi had growled softly in jealousy. Nike glanced at Levi when he did it, so I knew that I wasn't the only one who had heard it. "I can give you a few ideas..."
"Does Analina know that you are still flirting with women?" I asked, eyeing him suspiciously. "More importantly, to me?"
"Yes," Nike said, nodding his head. "She was the one that had suggested a threesome with you. Maybe a foursome if someone wants to join in."
I took a deep breath and let it out as I rubbed the bridge of my nose. "Why does that not surprise me?" I asked, and Nike shrugged.
"What is this party about?" Mindy asked. "And you are..?"
"Nicodemus Anagnos at your service," Nike replied, giving her his winning smile. He took her hand in his and kissed it before flashing Levi a smirk when he growled out a warning. He let go of it and took his coffee in his hands. "But everyone calls me Nike, so you may as well."
"Relax," I said, glancing at Levi to see him glaring at Nike. "He's harmless. He does that to everyone, though you hadn't done it to me yet." I gave Nike a look, and he shrugged.
"The last time I had done it, which was last week, you had threatened to cut off my balls and feed them to me. Analina decided to be a mean old witch and egg you on if I ever did it."
I shrugged my shoulder and bit back a smirk. "She does care about me," I said, taking a sip of my drink. "And, the party is for his birthday tomorrow," I added, glancing at Mindy and Levi.
"Which you are all invited to, even though," he sighed and shook his head, "we do not have an alliance anymore." He wiped his eye and sniffed, and I scowled. He had a small smirk on his face, but I could tell that Levi didn't notice it or pretended not to notice it.
"Would you stop?" I asked, and Nike looked at me before he slowly grinned.
"I am merely pointing out the obvious," Nike said. "You don't have to be such a brat about it."
"Nicodemus," I warned, clenching my cup of coffee a little tighter. I was getting annoyed with his behavior. I had no idea why he was one of the only few people that could get under my skin, but he was, and the bad thing was, he knew when he was getting under my skin and kept doing it.
Nike took a sip of his drink and shrugged, his smirk appearing in full view. He cleared his throat and looked at the two of them. "So, would you two like to join?"
"Who is going to be there?" Mindy asked.
"Friends of mine," Nike replied, "and hopefully, Miss Alexandra in that dress that I had bought for her."
"I thought you said that Analina had picked it out for me," I said.
"Oh, she said yes to it when I brought it home," Nike said. "Did I forget to mention that?" he asked, giving me one of his smiles and causing me to roll my eyes at him.
"I am in the right mind to dump my coffee all over you," I warned. "Don't push me." I took another sip of it, narrowing my eyes at him.
Nike shrugged his shoulder. "Why would I do that?" he asked, and I scowled. "I mean, it is fun to see you get so riled up. You are usually just huffy and glarey."
"We'll be there," Mindy said, interrupting me from talking. She gave me a fake smile, and I scowled at her because I was not too fond of that idea. "I mean, I don't want Alexandra to waste whatever dress you had gotten for her. I'm sure that it is... exquisite."
Nike's eyes widen in shock before he looked at me. He gave me a huge smile, and I knew what he was going to ask.
"No, Nicodemus," I warned. "You may not open your present now."
"Bu-"
"No."
Nike huffed and nodded his head. "Fine," he grumbled pouting. He stood and stretched before holding his hand out for me. He gave me an award-winning smile as he helped me stand and grabbed his coffee. "Well, I have to get going. Analina will be happy that you are actually coming."
"I am ecstatic," I grumbled, not even happy to be going. I looked at my "Alpha." "Shall I tell the pack, or are we all going?" I asked.
"I will tell them," Levi said, darkly. "They are supposed to be only listening to me and my girlfriend only, remember?"
I huffed and nodded my head. "Yes, Alpha," I muttered, my voice soft so that only he could hear it. I looked at Nike. "I'll see you tomorrow."
"I'll see you tomorrow," Nike said, starting to walk away from us. "Hopefully, my brother will be there as well; then it will be an amazing birthday. It's going to be lit."
"Goodbye, Nike," I warned, and he barked out laughing before he left the coffee shop.
Mindy looked at me, giving me a smug look. "You are in so much trouble," she said, and I almost growled at her but didn't. "I don't want to be in your shoes at the moment."
"Whatever," I replied. I walked away from them, ignoring Levi calling my name. I dumped the coffee into the trash can and left, trying to keep myself from going back and killing her like I wanted to.
