My phone rang before I reached the warehouse that held my stuff as Alexandra, and I pressed the answer button on my helmet.
"Viper," I said with a small purr in my voice. "How may I assist you this evening?"
"I looked over your prices," the person on the other end of the line said, and I couldn't help but smirk when I noticed that it was the Puppetmaster. "Care meet and have some tea with me in the morning?"
"Sorry, Love," I said with a slightly shake of my head. "But if you are talking about early morning, like nine, then regretfully, I have to decline."
He paused, and I had a feeling that he narrowed his eyes. "And why is that?" he asked, and I couldn't help but smirk and narrow my eyes slightly impressed. "What do you have planned that you can't meet me around that time?"
"Well, Love, that is my time for beauty sleep," I replied sweetly. "I am what you call a... night owl. I function in the dark while normal humans and wolves are asleep in their cozy little beds."
"Or you are Alexandra Delamont, and Mindy is correct," the Puppetmaster said, and I bit back a small snort but shook my head.
"Oh, please," I said and rolled my eyes and scowled. "She and I are two different people, Love. We are not the same person. I thought sending one of your... puppets to her house proved that I wasn't. Did it not?" I raised an eyebrow, even though I knew he couldn't see me.
It was silent on the other end of the line before the Puppetmaster cleared his throat.
"Well?" I asked again and raised my eyebrow higher.
Finally, the Puppetmaster sighed, defeated, and I couldn't help but smirk while I imagined him shaking his head, annoyed with me for some reason. "Would eleven in the evening work for you?" he asked, and my smirk grew deeper. "You shall be paid for the time today and then whenever you work for me."
"With you," I corrected. "I will not work for you, Love."
The Puppetmaster growled again, and I smirked and narrowed my eyes, not fazed.
"Come now, Love," I teased. "You are the one that is asking for my service, not the other way around."
"And I will be the one that is paying you," he said. "Do not anger me, Miss Viper, or else you will not live to see another day."
I laughed and rolled my eyes while I smirked. "Oh, please," I said with a slow drawl. "Your threats do not scare me, Love. I hope you know that."
"They should," he replied darkly. "As I have stated before I h-"
"And so do I," I replied, and my eyes flashed in warning, even though he was not able to see it. "I also have "friends in dark places," good Sir, and I will not stand to be treated as something to be walked over."
The Puppetmaster growled in warning, and I had a feeling that he narrowed his eyes and scowled.
"Well?" I asked and raised an eyebrow while I smirked. "What do you want from me? I will not be waking up early in the morning just for you, so I hope you have a different time set for us."
The Puppetmaster sighed, and I had a feeling that he shook his head, defeated. "We will meet you at eleven tomorrow," he said coldly. "I will send you a location later."
"We?" I asked and raised my eyebrow higher, trying to decide if I needed to figure out who he would be bringing sooner than the meet up or not. "What do you mean by we?"
The Puppetmaster stayed silent, and I had a feeling that he pressed his lips into a thin line.
"Come now, Love," I said with a small tsk and a shake of my head. "Don't do that. I am merely curious if I get to meet some of your little friends. I wouldn't mind a few more myself." I sneered.
The Puppetmaster growled in annoyance, and I had a feeling that he narrowed his eyes and gritted his teeth while he stayed silent.
I bit back a small smirk and dipped my head closer to my chest. "Awww, did I make the poor little master upset?" I teased, and he growled again. "Now, who is this "we," Love?" I raised an eyebrow. "Or is it a little surprise?"
"It's a surprise," the Puppetmaster replied darkly, and I raised an eyebrow and bit back a snort. "You will need to come and find out."
"Hmph." I smirked. "And what are we going to do?"
"Again, you will find out later," he said coldly. "Can I have your word that you will be there?" he asked, and I had a feeling that he raised an eyebrow.
"Of course," I said and nodded. "Do you have anything that I will need to bring, or..?" I raised an eyebrow.
"I just need you to bring yourself," he replied coldly. "I don't need you to bring anything. Thank you."
I bit back a small chuckle and slowly nodded. "Of course, Sir," I said. "Just send me the details, and I will be there."
"Good," he said, and with that he hung up the call, and I rolled my eyes and bit back a sigh.
'When he gives me the information, make sure to look everything up so that I can scout the area before the meeting. I don't know if he will try to do something to make it seem like I am the Viper and Alexandra, so keep Salem updated,' I said, talking to my group, who were still connected to me.
'Oooh, are they going to be playing the Viper?' Corey asked, and I had a feeling that she raised an eyebrow while she smirked. 'Or are they going to be playing you as Alexandra?'
I pursed my lips in annoyance, not knowing who Salem was going to play. 'We are going to play it by ear,' I replied, finally. 'I do not know at the moment.'
'Salem has been notified and will play it by ear. They say that they are willing to play either part that you need,' Anthony said before he paused and cleared his throat. 'Also, they are asking you not to question your grandmother when you get back to the pack...'
I held back an eye roll but scowled. 'Then they better meet me in my room and tell me themselves if they don't want me to talk to her,' I replied coldly and gripped my handle bars tighter. 'I want to know why Bea was at my house as well as them when neither of them have any reason to be there.'
Especially when my grandmother could be kicked out of the pack...
Worry settled in the pit of my stomach, and I couldn't help but start to drive my bike a little faster back to the warehouse because I wanted to get back to my house. I was nervous, anxious even, and had no idea if she would still be there or not.
'I don't think they will kick her out,' Corey said softly as if she knew my trail of thought. 'I don't think they will kick you out either. Aren't you worried about yourself?'
I bit back a scoff and rolled my eyes. 'I am from the darkness, Core. I am not afraid of what happens to me. I will be able to protect my pack even if I am kicked out.'
'But the darkness does not need to be seen,' Anthony warned, and I held back an eye roll while I scowled. 'You don't need to use your shadows to keep yourself hidden.'
'I know, the monster needs to stay hidden,' I said and rolled my eyes while my scowl deepened. 'If I keep using the shadows, then the monster gets stronger with each passing second.'
Anthony sighed, and I had a feeling that he moved a hand across his face while he shook his head. 'I don't want to have to lock you up again,' he said, his voice cracking before he cleared his throat. 'That's it.'
I bit back an annoyed sigh, hating the fact that he was bringing up the past with someone "new," who hadn't been through it. 'We can talk about it later,' I said coldly, 'alone.'
'Awww,' Corey pouted. "Why are you hiding stuff from me?' she asked with a small pout and a whine in her voice. 'That's not fair.'
'Unfortunately, life isn't fair, Core,' I replied coldly. I set my jaw and cleared my throat while I grabbed my handlebars tighter. 'Trust me. Life isn't fair, and I am one prime example of it.'
