"Grams," I said, entering my house about ten minutes later, slamming the door shut and locking the door behind me, which I normally did not do. I looked around the room and set my jaw before I started to make my way to the kitchen, for I had a feeling that she would be that way. "Where are you?"
"Coming," she said and walked into the living room from the kitchen with a small frown on her face. She slowly blinked and pressed her lips into a line, and worry flashed through her eyes while she studied me. "Come," she said and started to walk toward the basement door, and I followed her with my body growing tense.
"I-"
"Hush," she said, interrupting me while she shook her head. "I know." She looked at me and scowled, her dark brown eyes flashing, and I couldn't help but shrink back while I grimaced. "I thought I told you to be careful, Alexandra May."
I held back an eye roll and set my jaw. "I was, Grams," I said coldly. "However, that doesn't stop people from doing things that could harm me even with me trying to be careful." I tucked my head closer to my chest and pursed my lips in annoyance.
My grandmother sighed and moved a hand through her hair while she shook her head and pursed her lips in annoyance. "You as well as I know that you being under someone's control is dangerous, not only for you but for us as well."
I bit back a tired sigh and slowly nodded in confirmation, relenting. "I know," I said, clearing my throat while I grew serious. "I will make sure that nothing bad happens while I am not fully in control of myself."
"And what if you are not able to?" my grandmother asked and looked at me while she raised an eyebrow in question. She scowled and narrowed her eyes while she studied me before she turned away from me. "What if they find out that you are something different than a normal Werewolf?"
"They won't," I said and shook my head, and my heart ached because I had no idea if what I said was true or not. "That is why I want to make sure that the beast isn't in control of him. I am not sure if she will be under his control while I am under his control, but I think that is a bridge we will have to cross when we get there."
My grandmother set her jaw and slowly nodded before she looked at me. She didn't say a word and looked at me before she looked forward, picking up her pace, and I picked up my pace as well, knowing full well that was what she wanted me to do.
She opened the door to the basement and gestured for me to go downstairs, and I did what I was told to do with her following me. She closed the door behind us and locked it, and the hair on the back of my neck stood at attention.
My whole body was tense, and I quickly walked down the steps before I stopped in front of a wall with my hands behind my back. I stayed silent while I stared at her, watching as she went down the steps slowly with something in her eyes that I didn't like.
"Grams?" I asked and raised an eyebrow in question while I set my jaw and cocked my head, studying her and hoping that the look on her face would disappear.
My grandmother gave me a tight smile and shook her head, but the look on her face didn't disappear but seemed to grow deeper. "Dont worry about it, Dear," she said before she cleared her throat and moved a hand through her hair. "I am fine."
I set my jaw and narrowed my eyes, not knowing if what she was saying was true or not.
My grandmother chuckled and shook her head, biting back a tired smile. "Don't worry about it, Dear," she said. She sighed and patted my cheek after she finished walking down the steps and made her way over to me. "I am worried, but you don't have to worry about what I am worried about."
I scowled and narrowed my eyes while I looked at her, setting my jaw. I didn't say a word while I stared at her, trying but failing to figure out what she was worried about and get her to tell me what had happened.
My grandmother chuckled while she tucked her head closer to her chest. "Come," she said and gestured for me to follow her before she opened a door that would lead to a secret spot where it would be safe for me to let out the beast.
The beast growled in anticipation and tried to push against the barrier in my mind, and I quickly threw up another block before it could escape while I entered the long hallway and waited for my grandmother to close the door and lead me there.
My whole body was tense and was shaking while the beast continued its attack against the barrier, and my grandmother looked at me with a small frown on her face and concern in her eyes.
"Is it getting harder?" she asked, and I set my jaw and slowly nodded before I took a deep, shuddering breath and let it out with a small whoosh. She raised an eyebrow in question and studied me with something in her eyes that I didn't like. "By how much?" she asked after she closed the door and made sure that it was locked.
"A lot," I said and gritted my teeth together, feeling them lengthen while my beast continued its attack and thirst for it to be released. "We need to hurry and get me in the room before I can not contain her, Grams. It's more difficult than it has been in the past."
My grandmother set her jaw and slowly nodded, pressing her lips into a thin line. She didn't say a word and quickly started to make her way to the room where there were chains and a harder area for me to escape while I released the beast and let her take control, and I followed her while I fought with the beast every step of the way.
Not yet, I hissed while I gritted my teeth and growled, the growl reverberating throughout the whole area, shaking the walls, and my grandmother picked up her pace with me following her. We are not in a safe space.
My beast growled and continued to fight, not caring that we were not in a space for her to take control and do it safely. She wanted out, and she wanted out now, no matter how much it wouldn't be in our best interest to do so.
My grandmother opened the door of the locked space and turned on the light, ignoring the small growl that I sent her way because she knew how much I didn't want the light on while I was in that form and that I didn't want her in there with me. "I will be safe," she said with a shake of my head, "but I need to be in here and able to see what is going on with her just as much as I need to keep an eye on you."
"Gr-" I started but stopped when she waved me off, and I choked back on the warning I was going to send her way. I growled and gritted my teeth a little while I stared at her, praying that she wasn't going to make some big mistake that would cost her her life.
I couldn't lose her too.
"Hush," she softly scolded. "Go inside and get yourself locked up, but wait until I come in and lock the door before you do anything else besides that. Is that understood?"
"Bu-"
She raised her hand, silencing me, and I closed my mouth while I pursed my lips in annoyance. She scowled and narrowed her eyes while she stared at me, daring me to go against what she said. "Is that understood?" She raised an eyebrow in question, daring me to argue with her when we both knew time was running short.
I bit back a tired sigh and slowly nodded, relenting. "Yes, Ma'am," I said, ignoring the pain of the beast while the beast tried to take control and be released from her cage. "I understand."
I walked into the room and went into a corner before I stopped and quickly chained one of my legs to the wall because I had no idea if I was going to need it or not.
I folded my hands behind my back and clasped my hands together with my back facing my grandmother. My whole body was tense and shaking, and it took all of my self-control not to let the beast out and have her way against those that had harmed me.
My grandmother locked the door and muttered something under her breath that I couldn't quite hear. She cleared her throat and turned her attention to me, watching as my back shook and moved with each attempt my beast made to try and escape the confines of my mind.
"Well?" I asked after a few minutes of tense silence on either side. I gritted my teeth and released a small growl, trying but failing to make sure that my whole body didn't start to become warmer while my beast started to gain more and more control over our shared body.
My grandmother sighed and slowly nodded. "It's time, Dear," she said with a small hum in her voice before she gestured for me to start. "You may go ahead and release the beast."
And after she said that, I smirked before everything went black while I relinquished control to that side just as my grandmother had told me to do.
Oh, Goddess, protect her, please...
