My grandmother sat me down in a chair before she started to make some tea for both of my "mate" and me. She didn't say a word while she did so, and I watched her and noticed that her hands were shaking while she started making the tea.

"Grams?" I asked and raised an eyebrow in question while I studied her, pressing my lips into a thin line. Worry for my grandmother blossomed in my chest, and I studied her, leaning forward in my chair. "Why are your hands shaking? What happened? What is going through your mind?"

My grandmother chuckled and shook her head. "Don't worry about it, Dear," she said before she cleared her throat and licked her lips. "I am ok." She finished setting the tea so that it could simmer before she went to the door as if she knew that someone was going to be there.

And sure enough, my mate started to bang on the door with loud thuds against the door, and my grandmother tsked and shook her head.

She opened the door midknock and scowled at the Alpha, who had his fist raised to bang against the door, and she narrowed her eyes while she stared at him. "Do you have to break down my fucking door?" she asked with a small snap in her voice.

"Where is she?" Levi asked and narrowed his eyes while he scowled, not even afraid of her at that moment. He lowered his hand to his side, not knocking on the door again. "Where is Alexandra?"

"I am at the fucking table, Alpha," I said and laid my head on the table when a headache appeared out of nowhere. I bit back a small growl and gritted my teeth in annoyance before I looked at him, ignoring the headache. "There is no fucking need to bang against the fucking door when all you need to do is knock once and then wait for someone to answer the door."

Levi turned to look at me with wide eyes filled with fear, worry, and then something else that I didn't know how to describe. He gently pushed my grandmother out of his way before he started to make his way into the house without her inviting him in, and he started to walk over to me.

I didn't move from my spot and watched him with eyes half closed, pressing my lips into a thin line without saying a word to him about him being rude to my grandmother when he pushed her out of the way to enter her house.

My grandmother tsked and shook her head while she closed the door and locked it. She started to walk over to the stove to finish the tea. Her whole body was relaxed, and I could tell that she wasn't that mad about being pushed out of the way when she knew how he was feeling and how worried he was of me.

The Alpha stopped right in front of me and started to push my chair away from the table so that he could look at me and make sure that I was safe, and I let him without saying a snide remark about being treated like a rag doll.

Hesitantly, he knelt down right in front of me and narrowed his eyes while he searched my face for answers he didn't know if I could answer or not. "Are you ok?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

I furrowed my brows and cocked my head to the side while I studied him, confused. "What do you mean?" I asked and raised an eyebrow in question. "I feel fine. Why are you asking me if I am ok, Alpha?"

Levi scowled and narrowed his eyes while he slowly blinked. His whole body was tense, and he looked annoyed that I didn't answer his question the way he wanted me to. "Because I want to know if you are ok or not, so are you ok?"

I bit back a tired sigh and shook my head, moving a hand through my hair and across my face, pursing my lips in annoyance. "What are you talking about, Alpha?" I asked and raised the eyebrow higher in question. "I already told you that I was fine."

He scoffed a laugh and rolled his eyes, pursing his lips in annoyance. "Do you feel any different?" he asked and cocked his head to the side while he studied me.

I bit back a small snort and rolled my eyes, pursing my lips in annoyance. "And why would I feel any different?" I asked and leaned back in my seat. "All I am feeling is tired and that I have a headache, and all I want to do is get some sleep. There's nothing else wrong with me, Alpha."

Levi scoffed a laugh and rolled his eyes while he pursed his lips in annoyance. "There is," he insisted and nodded. "Y-" He stopped talking and grabbed his head, biting back a small groan of pain. He closed his eyes and gritted his teeth together, biting back a small growl. "Let me tell them," he hissed and growled, digging his fingers into his hair. "She has the right to know."

I raised an eyebrow in question and studied him, and the hair on the back of my neck stood at attention. "What are you talking about, Levi?" I asked and narrowed my eyes, biting back a small frown. "What do I have the right to know?"

"You're being co- Gah!" Levi groaned and moved away from me, and blood started to pour from his nose. He moved further away from me and gritted his teeth while he whole body started to shake.

Concern and worry filled my body, and I couldn't help but frown while I studied him. "Grams," I said and watched Levi fall to the ground on his side, groaning from the strain and pressure that he was under while he tried to tell me what was happening to me. I didn't move from my spot, knowing full well that I wouldn't be able to get up if I went after him.

My grandmother hurried over to my mate's side and knelt beside him. She gently placed her hand on his shoulder, and he quickly jerked it off of his shoulder, much to her annoyance.

"No, don't," he said with a small groan in his voice while he dug his fingers further through his hair. "Do not touch me, Grams."

My grandmother scoffed a laugh and rolled her eyes while she pursed her lips in annoyance. "Hush," she scolded softly and placed her hand on his shoulder, and this time, he didn't try to get her hand off of his shoulder and let it rest there. "Stop trying to tell my granddaughter that there is something wrong with her. That is why you are having this problem, whatever this problem is."

Tears pricked the corner of his eyes, and he bit back a small sniffle. "But I want to tell her," he said, his voice cracking with pain and sadness, and my heart broke just a tad because I hated how defeated he sounded.. "She deserves to know, Grams. She needs to protect herself and the pack."

"From what?" I asked and raised an eyebrow in question while I studied him. I folded my arms across my chest, pressing my lips into a thin line. "From myself?"

"Yes," he said and nodded in confirmation. He groaned and withered on the ground while he gritted his teeth from the amount of pain that he was in. "You are now a threat to the pack that you have sworn to protect."

I blinked and blinked before I glanced at my grandmother and then back on him. I didn't say a word and confusion found its way on my face while I studied him, trying but failing to figure out what he meant.

"I'm not lying to you, Alexandra," he said with a groan in his voice. "I am sorry, but you are now u-" He twisted around and groaned while he gritted his teeth together, and blood started to pour faster from his nose.

"Stop trying to tell me shit, Alpha," I said and bared my teeth, narrowing my eyes. Concern for the male filled my body, and I couldn't help but want to go over to him, even though I knew that I wouldn't be able to get up afterward, and I didn't know if he was going to ask me what was wrong.

"Bu-"

"Shut. Up," I said, interrupting him. I bit back a small groan of pain before I stood and started to make my way to him, sinking to the ground. My whole body ached and was filled with pain while I moved toward him. "You don't need to tell me jack shit. I will figure it out whenever, and guess what? I am not too worried about it."

"You should," he said and bit back a small growl of annoyance while he continued to grit his teeth. "You should be very worried because he can use you to kill the pack or hurt those that you care about, like your grandmother. And you aren't worried about that?"

I looked at my grandmother and then looked at him while I continued to make my way over to him. I sat down by his head, and my grandmother moved away from us so that she could get a napkin for his nosebleed.

"Well?" he asked and bit back a small groan while he closed his eyes. "Are you worried or not about them using you to hurt your grandmother or those that you hold near and dear to your heart?"

Like me..?

"No," I said and slowly blinked while I shook my head, pressing my lips into a thin line. "I am not worried because there is nothing wrong with me, and if there is, then I do not need to have to learn it from you."

"And why not?" he asked and bit back a small groan of pain and sadness. "I want to help, Alexandra. Why can't you understand that?"

"I do," I said coldly while I pursed my lips in annoyance, shaking my head. "But you can't help me, Levi. You can't help me at all."

No one can...
