Rhett's POV

I watched her as she slowly tipped the spoon full of cereal into her mouth, chewing slowly as she stared off into space.

She really was beautiful.

Not in that outright way, where she immediately drew your eye because she was pretty, no it was deeper than that.

Maybe I'm going crazy to think that the woman who physically assaulted me, could be beautiful, but as my eyes took in her tired and sunken in form, I must be crazy, because she was stunning honestly.

She didn't even look her best and yet, here I was drooling at her.

My eyes drifted over the solid electrified chains that were wound tightly around the top of her skull, someone really wanted to keep her on lockdown.

She would be the only one truly able to break the chain, she just needs a push in the right direction.

God, what a freak, why won't he stop staring at me?

Her thoughts had been pelting against my brain since I had run into her. A continuous strain of either extremely inappropriate to annoyingly distrustful thoughts had been slipping from her conscious, being read into my mind.

I wonder how she would react if she knew I was a Super, with the ability to read her thoughts. She doesn't seem like the type of person who would care, but you never really know how someone will react.

I learned that lesson the hard way.

Her eyes drifted slightly over to me, her aura flashing a striking purple color, before being doused back to a dull grey.

Someone had wrapped that chain, tight around her mind.

Prominent emotions should push her to unconsciously break that chain.

What should we start with first? Love, yes, I'll make her fall in love with me.

"You look stunning this morning, your beauty is otherworldly" I easily tipped my lips into a sexy smirk, that I know make girls weak in the knees.

Her eyes narrowed slightly, but she barely twitched in my direction.

The fuck did he just say?

That line usually kills.

Okay, so we can move love to the bottom of the list for now, she obviously isn't in the receiving mood, yet.

Think, Rhett, next emotion ... fear?

What do women fear the most.

I narrowed my eyes in at her, as I tried to school my emotions, "you should be careful towards the back of the house, I had a rabid dog break into my yard once and try to maul people" my eyes shot to hers.

Maybe it'll come in here and maul you ... oh wait, I'm not that lucky.

She gave a noncommittal grunt as she kept her eyes focused on the cereal bowl.

Well, isn't she just a ray of sunshine.

When I first met her, her thoughts were nearly the same speed as she spoke them, making it extremely difficult to understand what she was thinking, when we originally met.

Now ... now it was like she was trapped in her own mind, that chain was completely draining her emotional response.

I wonder who put it there ...

I tapped my fingers on the counter, her face twitching slightly at the sound, her eyes shooting to my hand. Her aura flared a deep red color before falling quickly back to dull grey.

Oh yes, someone really wanted her to be docile.

But that wasn't who we needed for our mission.

With her in this state, she would be practically no use to us, to what we were trying to accomplish.

Okay, next emotion to hit, happiness.

What makes women happy?

Clothes, bags, ... ugh, I know nothing about her really, maybe we should skip happiness for now. Stick to universal emotions, like fury.

Yes, I believe that should work perfectly fine.

I allow my fingers to tap louder against the counter, her eyes narrowing even more as her left eye twitched slightly.

Pet peeve?

My lips unconsciously smirked, "you know, I understand how hard it is, for you" my eyes swept over her frame as her interest slightly peaked at my words.

I wonder how angry will she get?

And how much anger is needed to get the chain to snap?

"What are you talking about?" she asked me, her eyes turned up towards mine. Finally I had her attention.

I placed a pitying look on my face, "your parents told me about the man you were dating, the one that broke your heart" I watched as the pain quickly crossed her face, the chains moving slightly on her forehead.

Her brow frowned like she couldn't understand something, I kept going, "I get what it feels like to be ... inadequate, to the people you want the most, well not personally of course, because I'm every woman's dream, but I can image that pain".

Her whole body locked up, her aura flashed red and stayed red, the chains on her seemed to shudder against an invisible force.

So close.

"Excuse me?" her voice seemed strained, like she was physically fighting the pull to lay down and let my words roll over her.

Did he just?

"I just mean to say that, I feel for your sad, depressing, situation. And I know" I peered at her, trying to look as sympathetic as possible.

Kill him.

I tried to keep a schooled expression as her thoughts pelted me, that took a dark turn.

Her focus was solely on me as her fist clenched around the spoon, "you know what?" her voice growled out.

The chains were quivering under the pressure of her now black aura.

I dare this bitch-

"How pathetic you must feel" I place my hand over top of hers, "and if you need to get those emotions out in any way, or get over them, come to me".

Her face blanked as she stared at me.

This bitch just did.

The chains dissipated off of her skull, as she just stood there staring at me. Our eyes locked on some unending battle as we remained completely still.

I guess I had really blown her mind, literally.

She really did have beautiful eyes though, deep dark brown orbs that seemed to suck you in with their innocence and brightness.

As the chain disappeared, a sharpness re-entered her eyes, her skin brightening immediately and her body immediately taking on a healthy glow.

She remained stoic until her shoulders slowly started to shake, a small little movement that had me jumping in surprise. From there her beautiful mouth began to quiver, her lips fighting to stay in a straight line, before they tilt up in an amused smile.

Before my eyes, she begins to ... laugh.

Hard.

She's bent over, dying of laughter as her lovely voice bellows out wave after wave of laughter.

Tears are now rolling down her face as she throws her curly head back and laughs freely into the air.

"What- whats so funny?" I ask my lips unconsciously lifting as I watch her die of laughter.

"It-" she breaks off into another bought of giggles, not being able to even control herself, "it's just that, I'm going to kill all of you" then she breaks off into soul sucking laughter.

The smile immediately wipes off my face.

She's not that crazy, right?

My eyes watch her face plant into the counter as she continues to laugh manically.

Great.
