A few of you have been asking about how to make your book have views, and I can tell you the secret is to just keep writing. The more updates you have, the more votes. It may take a little while, but one day, when you least expect it, your book will be a hit and your notifications will keep going off like crazy. So I encrouurage you to keep writing and one day your book will experience the BOOM that hit mine.
As a thank you for the support, I have decided to give you a Lager's POV from the chapter where He first runs into a very drunk Ashley. I hope you enjoy!
Lager's p.o.v Chapter 29. Lager. Enjoy!
"This way," I command, leading my trooos through the forest.
The familiar tug in my gut is there, the same one that had been bothering me for months. Along with this feeling , I was immediately alerted when several beings who weren't Darklings entered Darkling territory.
It better not be a group of Kinlings. I've had enough of their reckless and bold antics, and I'm very afraid that if I were to find any in my territory now, I would not show mercy.
We are only a mile or two away from Highclere, when the feeling inside of me tightens, holding me in a vice like grip and I know that the reason behind the feeling is not far away.
When I sent that idiot Kinling High Commander to the island, I wanted him to see what was causing my discomfort, not bring it here.
I bark out orders to the best of th troops to keep continuing in this direction, before taking off by myself to get there to and try to stop them from getting any closer to Highclere unless I know they're not a threat to my people.
I break through a wall of trees, taking a nano-second to cast an illusion of darkness over me, only to run into a very hyper, very drunk, girl.
The feeling in my gut tightens even more, to the point where I'm even finding it hard to breathe.
The next thing I know a very angry Becky is pointing an orb of light at me, and the girl I just ran into is jumping in front of me. I quickly duck behind a few, throwing the illusion of darkness off me and taking a moment to collect myself.
Becky.
She only been gone for a few weeks, but it feels like a lifetime.
I can't stop the guilt from returning, thinking back to the sleepless nights I spent worrying if she was alright, or if a Lyncher had found her, and putting the blame on myself. I should've known Granny Philips death would push her into running, and I should've been there for her, and I know it's no excuse, but I was grieving too.
Inhaling deeply, I sweep my cape behind me and step out and around the tree, leaning against it and crossing my arms.
The same time I do this my troops arrive, forming a semi-circle around them and ultimately distracting them from my prescence.
The girl who crashed into me from before giggles, saying something about more friends coming. Every time I look at her, the feeling in my chest eases and tightens at the same time. Could she have soemthing to do with what I sensed on the island?
My eyes go back to Becky and I see a strange boy beside her. He's golden haired and shirtless, a little on the scrawny side, with electric blue eyes. He looks vagualey familiar. Suddenly it hits me that he's the son of one of the top Merchers from Lightling territory that we trade with.
I hear a giggle to the side and the see the drunk girl staring at me. I can't help it and find myself winking, to which she only giggles more. Strange girl.
Suddenly someone comes crashing through the forest and I look up only to see Zero, the idiot Kinling High commander himself come crashing through the trees. I just barely stop a growl from erupting in my chest, instead choosing to smoothly greet them. Becky tenses, eyes darting to mine.
"Hello to you too, Darkling High Commander." She says, and my lips twitch down when she doesn't call me by my first name.
The drunk girl giggles again, momentarily distracting me.
She's pretty, I notice with shock.
Her very brown, brudnette hair reaching the middle of her back in waves and hazel eyes that seem to light up when she smiles. Dainty features, that can sharpen in a second, and a clumsy grace about the way she moves. As if relaxed, but also ready to take on the world.
Zero starts acting like an over protective dog, and I observe with interest as he interrogated Becky and the shirtless boy, finding out soon that she was given Lecic.
Why would they give her Lecic?
Then, I notice it.
If I focus, really focus, I can almost peer into the girl, and can also almost feel the fake bond wrapping around her heart like a snake, slowly constricting.
I'll kill him.
How dare he put this human girl in danger.
Why am I being so protective? I don't even know the girl.
I'm drove out of my thoughts by the girl herself, swaying dangerously on her feet.
"Hold onto the tree." I tell her, my voice more gentle than its ever been.
Zero, noticing this, growls. "Let Ashley go." He demands.
"Ashley." I voice, testing the syllables and finding them strangely pleasing. "So that's your name.
She hiccups in response.
Then, almost as if someone flipped a switch, the girl, I mean Ashley, stumbles forward into Zero's arms, making me clench my hands into fists oddly.
I watch her snuggle him and look up at him with those wide, hazel eyes, smiling so vibrantly I'm almost disgusted a smile that vibrant is wasted on him.
"Now that we're all caught up," I interject when if any stand it anymore,"you all will be escorted to Highclere."
I couldn't risk losing Becky or the girl, even if it meant letting Zero into Highclere.
Zero twists at first, but with some........persuasion, mostly my my soldiers, he agrees to come along, although not before trying to bargain. It's almost laughable, the idea that he thinks he deserves the right to bargain after the first deal he ruined.
"Yay, a trip!" Ashley exclaims. "If we go, can we get a hot bath and food?"
I catch myself almost smiling.
"Of course." I say. "You'll be a very honoured guest."
Zero refuses some more, but the girl must have him wrapped around her finger, because the minute she spills a few tears, he's agreeing.
As the group gives in finally, Ashley separates herself from them, stumbling over before Zero can stop her and wrapping her arms around me.
I'm hit by the overwhelming feeling of her.
Her scent, the feel of her, the close proximity is almost unbearable in a strange good way.
Have I turned masochistic?
My body frozen, I choke out my next words. "What-What are you doing?"
She tightens her arms around me, nearly making me groan in pleasure at the soft warmth enveloping me. I don't realise I'm trembling till I realize my eyesight is sort of shaky.
"I'm saying thank you." She replies, giving me that one hundred percent goofy and irresistible grin.
"For what?" I ask, cursing in my head at the hoarseness coating My voice.
Stop acting like a hormonal teenager! But I can't stop.
"For the future hot bath I'll be soaking in." She says, and I nearly go insane as the mental picture of her in a hot bath fills my head.
Something is definitely wrong with me.......or maybe, something very right.
All I know right now, looking down at this girl who not only has one High Commander wrapped around her finger, but now two, is that I'm in trouble.
At that moment she steps away, nearly making me lunge after her, but at the last minute stopping.
Deep, deep trouble.
Dear readers, there you have it! I'm sorry it wasnt as long as I had wanted it to be, but I hope you enjoyed reading. It was so much fun writing this from Lager's pov. Thx again for all the support, the views are amazing, and since I'm celebrating two hundred views and the chapter wasn't that long, I'll tell you something.
Zero is not the bad guy, not entirely, and there's more to the story, but for now, just know he's far from out of the picture.
Vote, comment, and ask Lager a question in the comments. He'll reply back. I had him scheduled , even though he's very busy with High commander business and Ashley.
Lots of love,
Dangeroustoken.
