Hey guys! This is Dangeroustoken speaking. I just wanted to say thank you for sticking through this whole month of December, and also thank you for your support on my Christmas book Christmas With A Cripple. As a reward for your patience, here's a Christmas special in which the cast of Experiment Zero exchange gifts. Hope you enjoy!
"Ashley, Zero, Lager, Max, Becky, Sylvia, and Peter sit around a Christmas tree the morning of the big holiday."
"Dangeroustoken, you know you don't have to narrate, right?" Ashley says, giving Dangeroustoken a flat look.
"Of course I know that!" Dangeroustoken says in a way which lets you know she didn't know that.
"Whatever, can we please just get to the presents?" Sylvia intersects, from where she lounges on a white cushioned couch.
"Where did the couch come from?" Ashley asks, confused, and looks at Dangeroustoken, who looks up guilty from her kindle.
"Ooh! I want a couch too!" Max exclaims, bouncing in his place on the ground between Becky and Peter.
"Who knows? Maybe you might get one as a present." Becky says in a flat tone whole rolling her eyes.
"Really?" Max asks, excited hope in his eyes.
"No, you dingus! Do any of these presents even look close enough to be the size of a couch?" Becky snaps, making Max deflate.
"Time for presents!" Lager intersects, smiling broadly from where he sits beside Ashley.
He tries to put his arm around her shoulders, but at that moment she leans forward, reaching for the first present and making Lager quickly tuck his arm back to his side, pouting at his failed attempt.
"This first one goes to...." Ashley trails off, roaring the present and looking for the name. "Max!"
"Oh yeah!" Max says, holding his hands up as Ashley tosses the box to him. He starts tearing at the paper excitedly. "I bet it's going to be something awesome! Like a pair of cool sunglasses, or a wad of cash, or-"
"Just open it!" Becky snaps.
He pulls open the box, a smile lighting up his features, only for it to fade immediately.
"What did you get?" Ashley asks, leaning forward to see.
Max wordlessly pulls out a blue shirt with a picture of a money on the front and the words 'I like to go bananas' on it.
Everyone immediately starts laughing, even Sylvia chuckles before catching herself and sniffing in disdain.
"Who gave you that?" Lager asks, a corner of his mouth turned up.
"I did." Becky says proudly, and Max jerks his head towards her, flabbergasted. "I'm an amazing gift giver, aren't I? Also, there's matching socks in there."
Max pulls out a pair of blur socks with bananas all over them. "Gee, thanks."
"You're welcome." She says brightly, her expression closer to a smile than I've ever seen. She leans over, his mouth in a direct line to his cheek, and Max's whole body tenses in excitement, when she suddenly changes the direction of her face, turning to look at Ashley. "So who's next?"
Ashley gapes at the smirking Becky and deflated looking Max before snapping out of it and picking up the next present.
"This one is for......Sylvia."
"Sylvia?!?!" Everyone in the group says at the exact same time, all of them shocked.
Sylvia flips her hair, holding out a hand. "Of course. I bet it's super expensive. Someone finally gets me."
Everyone watches with distaste as she Tears the sparkly silver wrapping paper off.
"Oh my! A diamond studded bracelet, for me!?!? Whoever gave me this must be completely infatuated with me, I can't really blame them." She lets out a tinkling laugh, flipping her blonde hair over her shoulder.
Everyone looks nauseous, looking around at each other suspiciously and wondering who gave her that.
"Wait a second." Lager suddenly says, leaning forward and snatching the present. Sylvia lets out a little whine of protest but stops when her High Commander gives her a look. "This looks like your handwriting." He says, pointing to where it says "To: Sylvia".
She sniffs, shifting nervously. "You don't know that for sure. Maybe the person just has very similar handwriting."
Lager narrows his eyes further and digs around in the box, until he comes across what he was looking for. He holds up a receipt victoriously, and starts to read it.
Curiously, Ashley leans in, their shoulders brushing, and Lager pauses, looking side-ways at Ashley who's focus is on the little piece of paper in his hands. A small smile blooms across his face. He's super whipped and he knows it.
"Aha!" Lager finally exclaims, pointing at something on the paper. "It says this was purchased by you. I thought you knew about my hate for liars, Sylvia." Lager's tone turns icy, his golden eyes flashing as he looks at her.
"I'm sorry!" She bawls, starting to cry into her hands. "I wanted to make you all jealous! It's not like Ashley or Becky will be getting anything this stylish anyway."
Becky and Ashley glare at her as she clutches the bracelet to her chest, sticking her chin up.
Lager sighs, rubbing his temples and looking around the group with a flat look. "I've had to put up with her for about fifty years now. Fifty. Years."
Ashley shudders, placing a hand on his shoulder. "I don't know how you do it, Lager. The next fifty years are probably going to be just as bad as the others."
Lager stares at her a little, a soft smile coming across his face. "Something tells me the next fifty years just got bearable."
A growl interrupts the moment, and Ashley takes her hand off Lager, looking at Zero.
"If you don't mind, I would like to give out my present now." Zero grunts, and there's a small rectangular shaped box in his hands. He suddenly looks very nervous, pulling at the neck of his outfit.
"This is for you, Ashley." He says softly, holding it out.
She stares at it a little, before reaching over and gently taking it, unwrapping it slowly and carefully.
Once the smooth box is unwrapped, she opens the lid and freezes, staring down at what's inside.
Lager grows extremely impatient and fidgety, trying to get a look over her shoulder, but she is too far hunched over it.
"What is it? It better not be a ring! I swear to Dalton, Zero, if that's a ring you'll be Lyncher meat-"
He's cut off when Ashley takes whatever was in their out, holding it open in the air.
It's a rose-gold chain necklace, and on it is a charm. The charm is two little pipes that are gold colored, but the pipes are intertwined in a beautiful tiny figure, almost looking like a figure eight.
"I know whatever may be going on in the story right now is not the best situation." Zero starts talking softly while Ashley continues to stare down at the necklace in her hands. "But even if we are separated, or on opposite sides, or I'm the reason you're dying, I still think of how we are intertwined through the bond. I hope you like it, Ashley."
Ashley nods, speechless, while Lager lets out a snarl and a low, humorless laugh.
"Bond? Do you really want to go there, Zero?" He questions, his gaze challenging Zero. They share a look, one that tells everyone in the room that they know a secret and their not sharing.
Zero finally huffs, looking away. "Let's not ruin the holiday." He mutters.
Ashley finally speaks, her eyes meeting Zero's gray ones. "Thank you, Zero. It's beautiful."
Zero bursts into a full-blown smile while Lager fumes.
"I don't see why that present is so amazing! I can get you better!"
He waves his hand and the big open space against the wall in one corner is suddenly full, a shiny black Porsche sitting there.
Ashley gapes, eyes widening.
Zero scowls, jumping on his feet and turning on Lager. "That doesn't count! It's just an illusion."
"Or is it?" Lager smirks, snapping his fingers. The once, slightly see-through car now materializes, and the whole group is in awe while Sylvia crosses her arms, huffing.
"This has gone too far." Dangeroustoken says, and starts writing on her kindle.
"Wait, don't-"Lager says, but a second later the car dissapears. Lager scowls, and waves his hand again, trying to weave a new illusion, but it doesn't work. he stares down at his hand in horror. "What did you do to me?!?!"
Dangeroustoken rolls her eyes, setting her kindle to the side. "I did what I had to. Now stop throwing a tantrum, you'll get your powers back when the next chapter is out."
Lager pouts, glaring fiercely at Zero who's smirking victoriously.
"That's the last time I let you use me for your different character point of view bonus chapters." He mutters, and Dangeroustoken smirks viciously.
"You don't have a choice."
That moment is the first ever recorded moment in time where the Darkling High Commander of Dalton, all-powerful and supreme in his will, shivers at another person's words.
"Now that that's cleared up." Ashley starts, breaking the now tense atmosphere. "I have a present for Becky."
She hands it to the girl and she grabs it, looking down at it as if it might bite her any moment.
"Go on." Ashley says, smiling. "Open it."
"Don't tell me what to do." Becky snaps, but starts peeling the paper of the box away anyway.
When it's all gone,s he looks down at it for a moment, before silently holding it up for everyone to see. It's a makeup kit, along with a few perfumes and body-lotions.
Ashley suddenly gets nervous, shifting around on her feet. "When I was shopping I saw it and thought that maybe you might like to have it, since I know there's not that many beauty products available on Dalton, and nearly every girl goes through that makeup phase. You don't have to wear it if you don't want to. I'm not trying to say you're ugly or anything-".
Ashley cuts herself off when Becky stands up, walking ominously over to her and crouching down. Ashley gulps.
Then Becky throws herself at Ashley, hugging her tightly for one second, before letting go the next and walking back over to Max, plopping down in her seat.
Ashley gapes in her seat like a fish, arms still slightly extended and she stares ahead in shock.
Max pouts, looking at Becky. "How come I don't get a hug?"
She socks him in the shoulder.
Now it's time for the last present.
Well not the last, there'es till many more, but it's the last present I'm going to write about. Lager has kindly asked Dangeroustoken not to tell the readers what his present for Ashley was, saying it was not ready to share with others yet.
Peter has the present in his lap, and is tugging at his cuff sleeves.
"For you, Ashley." He says, handing it to Lager who passes it to Ashley with a frown.
She unwraps the cylinder shaped item and looks at it for a moment, before smiling.
"A coffee cup! I remember back on Braun Island! We still haven't gotten coffee together, have we?" She asks, looking up at Peter.
He shakes his head, smiling softly too.
"Gotten coffee together!?!?!" Zero and Lager exclaim at the same time, but Ashley ignores them.
"Thank you, Peter."
He shrugs. "It's the least I could do to make up for what's going on in the story right now."
There's an awkward pause as they realize they are supposedly on opposite sides right now.
"Well that concludes the Christmas bonus." Dangeroustoken cuts in, smiling off into the distance.
Lager tries to look to see where she's looking at, confusion on his face as he sees she's staring at a wall, labelled fourth wall.
"Merry Christmas!" The whole cast says at once.
"Merry Christmas!" Max says a little late and Dangeroustoken slaps her forehead.
"Max, we've practiced this a hundred times!"
"Sorry," he says sheepishly.
Dear readers, I hope you enjoyed your Christmas bonus! Good news, I got a laptop, so typing will not be as hard as it was on the kindle, which most likely means faster updates. If you don't celebrate Christmas, Happy Holidays! I'm finishing up Christmas with a Cripple, so be expecting a new Experiment Zero chapter out soon! Also this chapter is unedited. Vote, comment, and steal one of your siblings (or mom and dads if you don't have siblings, although I highly discourage it) presents. Lots of love,
Dangeroustoken.
