I walked out of the house, locking the door behind me and slipping into his blue Ford bronco sport. "Hey!" I kind of blurt out as I'm putting on my seatbelt.
"Hey, you look nice" he pull up from the curb and I couldn't help but blush from the comment. "Thanks."
It's weird being out of work and not talking about a patient or what to do next or just complaining that I'm tired.
"So-"
"Um"
We both go to talk at the same time And a nervous laugh slips out past my lips. "No no you go." I say and I look over to him.
"So I was gonna say that we're going to one of the local bars that I used to go to when I was in school. It's not too crazy. It's pretty chill." I nod my head and for the rest of the ride there we just kind of sit in silence.
He pulls in a parking spot that is sorted in the alleyway and I couldn't help but scan my surroundings as we both get out of the car and walk up to the door. There is a bouncer out front and we handed him both our IDs before we went in. " here let's grab a table in the back and then I will grab us a drink." I grab his hand as he navigates us through the crowd. there was one table with two high top chairs in the corner of the bar.
"What are you getting." He asks. I was treating it like a trick question for no reason.
"Um I guess I'll get a vodka cran." He smiles at me and disappears in the crowd. I pull out my phone and smile at the text Brooke sent saying 'text me SOS if you need me to call with a fake emergency.' I just reacted to the text with a thumbs up and see that it's 9:30.
I scan the area and it looks like their setting for a band and it's pretty crowded so I wouldn't be surprised if there was one tonight. "One vodka cran for the lady." Mason says placing the drink in front of me "well thank you kind sir." I take the straw to my lips and instantly tell this is a double.
I let out a small cough from the taste of pure vodka burning my throat. "Everything alright?" He gives me an amusing look and I just stir the drink.
"Yes just haven't drank in a bit." And then I take another sip drinking from the surface this time.
"There's this rock band playing tonight. They usually play nickelback covers or AC/DC." I was right.
"I figured. So how was work the rest of the night?" I ask finally finding the courage to make conversation.
He let out a groan. "Terrible. I wanted to jump out the window." I let out a laugh and roll my eyes.
"I don't blame you. I feel that way with my normal shift I couldn't imagine staying there for another 12 hours!" I had to start raising my voice as the band started to play.
The band started out with 'Savin me' by Nickelback and they were actually pretty good. "Are you ready for another!" Mason screamed in my ear and I look down at my drink not even realizing that I had finished my drink already.
I was actually feeling really good and it was nice to be somewhere different without worrying about this or that happening. Just a nice, enjoyable night out. What felt even better was being with someone new, he doesn't know me, my past.
We finally reached the bar after pushing through the crowd. "Same thing!?" He looks back at me and I just nod my head aggressively. At this point I didn't think it was worth screaming back. I look down and see I'm still holding onto his hand.
I'm really not looking for a relationship what so ever. It's just a nice feeling, and I can feel a smile creep onto my face. Stop it Avery! You're acting like a little girl. "Here." Mason hands me my drink, and I instantly take a sip. When I turn around to go back to our table. I see that it's already taken.
"You good with standing?" he looks down at me with a concerned look.
" yeah why wouldn't I be?" I grab his hand this time and make our way into the crowd to watch the next set.
"They're really good!" I stand up on my tippy toes and kinda scream over to him. The next thing he does isn't something I was expecting which is putting his arm around my shoulders and pulling me in.
" Yeah! I've seen them a couple times when I first turned 21. It's one of the reasons I wanted to come here tonight!" I laugh and continue to tap my shoe with the beat of the rhythm.
"One of the reasons!?" I look up at him and he shakes his head. " oh there's more than one trust me." I liked the flirting back-and-forth. It was fun and I could feel the alcohol really trying to take its effect over my mind and body. Each sip that I took It made more confident through the night.
You can definitely tell that as it got later more people were starting to pile into the bar. And with more people in the bar, it became more hot. "Hey-" Mason got cut off as someone shoulder, checked him going into the crowd.
It was two men making their way deeper into the crowd wearing leather jackets that had none other than the Devils blood logo, which was a huge skull with blood dripping out of it. I could feel my grip on my drink it just a bit tighter and even move myself closer to Mason.
" I can't stand these bikers. They think they run the place no matter where they go." he says, grabbing my arm, turning around back towards the bar and front door.
"what was that buddy?" I freeze in my place when someone behind us says it and fear the worst. I take back everything I said earlier, I can really never have a normal life. There's always something.
I could feel gripping my arm a little bit tighter as he turns around, turning myself around with him. "Nothing buddy we're just leaving." Mason yells and attempts to turn us back around until the man grabs on Mason's shoulder, stopping him from moving.
"oh we're buddies now?!" The man yells. Mason was a tall lanky guy and the biker was a little more heavier set, but he definitely was not intimidated by the height. " look, we don't want any trouble." Mason says, in sort of a surrendering way, as if he was waving a white flag in front of the man's face.
I was able to make out the patch on the front of his jacket that read 'roach'. "This year Lady!?" my mouth goes dry as the man looks me up and down until I feel another hand placed on my shoulder. I whip my head around and see that it's the other guy that had shoulder checked mason.
" We probably could show you a better time than this loser babe." The man says who is holding onto my shoulder. These people are part of a club that killed my family, that took everything away from me.
"I'm okay." Aggressively remove my body from this man's grip as well as Mason's grip on my arm and step back. "Oh she's feisty!" Roach, yells, and both of the men laugh in front of me and Mason. I look up at Mason and see that his face is completely pale. I couldn't be mad at him for being scared of these guys not knowing what they could do, but he could at least have some type of balls.
" look what we got here roach!" the other guy yells, and his patch on his jacket reads 'Sandy'. Sandy tugs on my name tag that's hanging off of my keychain. "King, huh? Sounds familiar." Roach says again.
" Where you from girly?" Mason is completely three steps farther away from me than he just was a minute ago just staring at these two men cornering me in the middle of the bar. "New York, I go to school here" I couldn't possibly tell them where I was really from.
" You better be careful tonight pussy boy over here doesn't seem like he can do much for ya" both of the men laugh again and turn around making their way back into the crowd. I don't even look at Mason to see if he was still standing there before I turned around and high tailed it out of the bar.

Everest's POV:
"You want another Sin?" The bartender asks, and I waive my hand signaling to pour me another.
I felt like I was drinking my life away. I looked back down on my arm and see the bandage, which just makes me want to drink more. I don't know what it is with her. I don't know what I want.
I can't give her what she needs. I can't fix her or heal her. I can't be there for her all the time. After I got out of jail and seen her up there with someone else I made this club my life. I'm the vice president of the fourth biggest motorcycle gang in the world.
It makes my blood boil even more just thinking about some other man putting his hands on her and hurting her. He's the one who took her away from me.
The sons of silence owns another bar on the outskirts of town other than the club. The Boat Yard is where the younger members usually come. The old heads don't really like leaving the club, but it's definitely a nice change of scenery. It's open to the public too so you get more new faces around. I see Bree in the corner of my eye, she's been eyeing me up all night.
I owe nothing to Avery. Nothing. And yet she has this grip on me that I can't seem to shake off.
That's why I'm drowning myself alcohol and eventually into Bree. It's not a secret that she is sitting on the edge of her seat waiting for a chance to be my old lady.
It ain't happenin or never will.
"Sin right!" I hear a voice next to me and I turn my head to see this guy luring over me dressed all fancy in a suit and tie. "Who's asking," I mumble as I take another swig out of my drink.
I watched the guy from the corner of my eyes as he sits down next to me and waves the bartender back over. " Can I get a scotch on the rocks and another drink for my friend here." I just continue to look straight ahead of me.
I don't got time for people to be wasting my time. As Gretchen, the bartender fills my glass back up and gives me a look. Unless I'm answering to you, people know better than to disturb me. if I'm sitting at the bar by myself all these young heads, including Bree know that I'll go up to them if I wanna to speak to them.
"Women am I right." The Yankee next to me open his mouth again. You can tell that he ain't from the south or anywhere around here with that accent.
I just nod my head and continue to down my glass. I go to stand up from my seat until he starts talking again. "You know I had this girl, married to her actually. And she left me to come back home to her boyfriend who is just some small town biker."
In that split second the glass in my hand shattered, and I instantly grabbed the guys throat. The bar immediately went quiet and all eyes on us. " I don't know who the fuck you think you are, but I won't hesitate to put a bullet between your eyes." he just starts laughing and puts his hand out as if he wanted me to shake his.
"Names Logan, Logan Jackson." I ignore the gesture and tighten my grip around his neck. " I really don't give a fuck who you are." If all these people weren't around and we were at the club, I wouldn't hesitate to kill this guy right here as he sits. I could hear the gasps from the locals, brothers that were already in the bar surrounding us.
I let him go and watch him regain himself. "Is she really worth all this trouble? All I wanna do is just take my wife back home and you can make that happen." I can feel my lip curl as he strains out his collar, coughs a couple times.
I don't move from my stance, completely hovering over him and watch him stand up.
Wife.
Me and Avery could never be together. I couldn't give her the life that she needs. I don't think I could ever make her happy. And as much as I want to keep her safe, I don't know if I can. Being with me, she'll always be in danger in someway.
The devil's bloods are back in town. We killed their vice president but it just seems like there's more and more of them popping up everywhere. Messing with shit that they shouldn't be and sniffing around where their noses don't need to be. They're wannabes who don't give a fuck about loyalty or brotherhood.
"Fuckin have her." The brothers that were circling us move out of the way as I stomped out of the bar. I start my bike and sit there, knowing that Bree will be walking out after me any second.
Right on time, she comes running out and jumps on the back of the bike. "Are you okay?" She whispers in my ear and I just ignore her as I Spin out of the parking lot.
I shake my head as I can feel everything start to get fuzzy. Last night was dangerous territory with her, with Avery. I couldn't feel myself falling in headfirst.
Having her in my arms, feeling her, kissing her, tasting her.
I needed to get her out of my head.
Once I pull up to the club, I don't waste any time taking Bree into my trailer.
