Nandini's POV

"RISHABH VERMA!!!" I yelled as he was ignoring me from morning.

He looked at me wide eye as he knew I call him by full name whenever I am super pissed. He gulped and stood before me with his head down.

"Are you going to attend school?" I asked him in a strict tone and he nodded a no making me more angry.

"I don't want to stay away from you!" He said meekly still looking down and all my anger disappeared.

"Rishabh!" I sighed and went to hug him and he immediately hid himself in my embrace.

"You won't Rishu! You wanted to stay with me and Manik has promised you right?" I asked and he nodded.

"So then? And you have to study to become responsible and independent!" I made him understand as he listened patiently.

"Dii you know when you were gone I was so alone! Mom Dad never let me do anything and always kept cursing you! I asked them to stop cursing you but instead they slapped me saying I should not take your side!" He cried and tears formed in my eyes too.

"I love you too much to hate them Dii!" He said and I let my tears flow.

"You love me so much Rishu?" I asked as I broke the hug and looked at him.

"More than anyone in this world!" He replied and I smiled.

"Guess what? Your Dii also loves you more than anyone in this world!" I said and a huge smile spread on his face.

"What's going on?" Asked a voice and I turned to see Bhai standing there.

"Brother-Sister talks!" Rishabh replied hugging me sideways and I smiled.

I saw Bhai giving us a faint smile before looking away. I frowned at his behaviour and was going to ask him but before that Navya came down.

"Nandini! Your Alex is so stubborn! He isn't listening to me! From yesterday he is sitting on the same place being sad!" She complained and I almost gasped as I remebered about him.

"Oh no! Alex!" I said and ran to the stairs.

"Careful!" Bhai yelled from behind and I shouted a 'yeah'.

"Rishabh go get ready for your school!" I yelled as I ran to the room where Alex was present.

He was sitting in a corner looking sad.

Aww my baby!



I slowly walked towards him and sat beside him. He didn't even look at me.

"Hey Alex! I'm sorry for not coming to you yesterday!" I said feeling guilty as I ran my hand on his little body.

"I know you were sad when I was gone! But I'm here now! See! Won't you meet me?" I asked and he scooted a little closer but that was it.

I sighed and picked him up in my arms carrying over him to the bed. I placed him down on the bed and he just rested his head down.

I smiled and laid down beside him looking at him.



"Alex you're so stubborn!" I chuckled patting his head but still no reaction.

"Okay so if you are gonna stay like this I'll go!" I said faking sadness and was about to get up when he jumped on me making me laugh.



He licked my whole face making me giggle as I held him close. He barked happily as if saying that he was no more sad.

"Okay okay I get it you're not mad anymore! So let's go down!" I said and he jumped off me running out happily.

I chuckled and was going to step out when the monster pushed me in and locked the door making me shocked.

"Manik!" I glared and tried to move past him but he held my hand and spun me around.

I banged on his chest and my hands were placed on his chest as he gripped my waist. I tried to push him away but he pulled me more close.

"Manik what are you doing? Let's just go down everyone must be waiting!" I said but he didn't listen.

"No! I don't want to go!" He said and tucked my hair behind my ear.

I looked in his eyes and got drowned in them forgetting about anything else.

"You know you're so beautiful!" He said huskily and his simple words affected me alot.

This was the first time he complimented me.

He leaned closer and I closed my eyes ready this time.

"Stop me before I kiss you Rose!" He whispered over my lips as his hot breath fanned on my lips.

I breathed heavily and as I opened my drowsy eyes I saw him staring at me with desire. I know he lusted me before but this time there was something different in his eyes.

"Rose!" His husky voice made me shiver but I didn't stop him as his lips brushed against mine making both of us shiver.

But before he could place his lips on mine there was a knock on the door.

"Nandini! Are you okay?" Bhai asked from outside.

"Fucking perfect timing!" Manik cursed and dropped his head on my shoulder.

"Nandini!" He called again and this time I answered.

"Y-Yes Bhai! I am alright! I'm coming down in two minutes!" I replied and Manik grinned at me.

Bhai left after that telling me to come fast. I pushed Manik away and he frowned.

"What? I didn't take two minutes to be with you!" I said and he glared at me.

I giggled at him and he nodded his head.

"Let's go?" I asked and he nodded as I moved towards the door.

"Rose!" He called and I turned back.

"Huh?"

"Rishabh is not your real brother right?" He asked and the smile on my face vanished. He noticed it too and was going to say something when I cut in.

"No! But for me he is my real brother just like Bhai!" I replied and he smiled.

After that we got down to see Navya sitting on the couch and Rishabh all ready to go to school. Bhai was beside Navya asking her something and Alex was playing around.

"Here they are!" Bhai said and I looked at him.

"What took you so long?" Navya asked and I looked away.

"Anyways I'll drop Rishabh to his school and Manik let's go we have to take care of Rishabh's custody!" Bhai said and Manik looked serious.

He nodded curtly at him and they were all set to leave not before giving us instructions.

"Will be back soon!" Manik said and pecked my forehead before moving away.

Bhai too came and pecked Navya's and mine forehead. Looking at this Rishabh frowned before coming to me and pecking my cheek.

I laughed at his cute gesture and others chuckled making him pout.

"Come soon!" I smiled and hugged him before they moved out.

"And now we are all alone!" Navya said and I looked at her.

"Navya how can we be alone when we are two peope?" I asked and she frowned cutely making me chuckle.

"Whatever now what will we do?" She asked and I shrugged.

"Alex?" She asked looking at him and he just wailed his tail looking at her.

She sighed and sat on the couch.

"I'm bored!" She pouted.

"Nandini you know how to sing?" Navya asked excitedly all of a sudden.

"W-What?! No! Navya h-how can I know singing?" I lied looking here and there.

"Nandini what are you hiding?" She asked narrowing her eyes at me.

"Me? N-Nothing!" I shrugged laughing nervously but she gave me a I-know-you-are-hiding-something look.

I sighed and sat beside her.

"Mumma was a singer!" I said and paused looking at nothing particular.

"She used to teach me when I was small! Every morning she used to teach me! I remember I used to be very excited just to hear her singing!" I chuckled remembering my childhood memories.

Navya kept a hand on my shoulder and I turned my face towards her to see her giving me a guilty look.

"Nandini I'm sorry I didn't mean to .." She trailed off and I shook my head.

"It's okay Navya! I'm fine!" I smiled.

"I haven't tried singing since she left but you know I may try today for this little one!" I winked at her placing a hand on her stomach.

"But don't blame me if you damage your poor ears!" I warned her and she laughed.

"Alex will you listen?" I asked him and he barked happily.

I smiled and closed my eyes preparing myself to sing the song.

Khwaishon ka chehra kyun Dhundhla saa lagta hai Kyun an-ginat khwahishein hain (I started the song which I had written when I was in the orphanage. It depicted my feelings about my dreams.)

Khwahishon ka pehraa Kyun thehraa sa lagta hai Kyun ye ghalat khwaishein hain (All my dreams, all my wishes I had dreamt of from childhood suddenly seemed wrong)

Har mod par phir se mud jaati hai Khilte huey pal me murjhati hai, Hai besharam Phir bhi sharmaati hai khwaishein (I remember when I had confessed my mother of wanting to become a singer like her. But the next day it all shattered with her demise)

Zindagi ko dheere dheere Dasti hain khwahishein Aansun ko peete peete Hansti hain khwahishein Uljhi hui kashmakash mein Umar kat jaati hai (I didn't cry though it pained but I had promised myself not to fall weak)

I ended the song and opened my eyes and looked at Navya who was rooted on her place.

"Navya?" I called but no reponse.

"Uh! Was it that bad?" I asked nervously.

"Nandini did you write this song?" She asked still in a daze.

"Yes!" I replied without any hesitation.

"You know what? This is the first time I'm hearing such a soothing voice! Your voice holds magic Nandini even if I can feel your pain through this song still it touched my heart!" She confessed and I looked at her stunned.

"You can't leave music Nandini! It resides in you! Even if you want to leave music, it won't leave you!" She explained and I knew she was right.

"I need time Navya! I haven't tried singing since Mumma left! Today I don't know why but I felt like singing because of this little life!" I said honestly placing my hand on her stomach and she smiled.

"You know Manik sings too!" She said suddenly.

"I know!" I sighed and she looked shocked.

"You know? How? He told you?" She asked.

"No!" I nodded my head.

"He didn't! But I heard him singing!" I said remembering the day when I heard him singing on the terrace.

"Okay enough of talking! Navya you need to eat something now! It's been two hours you ate something!" I said sternly and she frowned.

"But I'm not hungry!" She whined.

"Navya! Now you have to think about one more person! So please eat something!" I said softly and she looked at her baby bump caressing it.

"Only for you!" She whispered looking at her bump and I smiled.

"Alex come with me!" I said and he readily got up following me.

"Navya are you craving for something? I mean like pregnant woman crave for something or the other are you feeling the same?" I asked loudly from the kitchen.

"Nandini I want to eat pasta!" She yelled and I frowned.

"Navya eat something healthy na!" I said and didn't hear anything for few minutes.

"No! No! No! I want only pasta!" She said and I sighed.

"Okay! I'll make it for you!" I said and started collecting the ingredients.

Alex sat there wailing his tail and watching me moving from here to there. He didn't disturb me nor did he ask for anything when I knew he was hungry too.

I turned to him and gave him his food to which his eyes filled with happiness and he barked happily making me laugh.

"My good boy!" I patted him and got back to work.

After almost 15 minutes I heard Navya calling me.

"Nandini I'm hungryyyy!" She yelled.

"Just 2 minutes Navya!" I replied and the pasta was almost ready.

Taking it out in a bowl I took the pasta and walked in the living room to see Navya waiting impatiently.

"And here is your pasta Ma'am!" I said and placed it infront of her.

She smiled brightly and squealed.

"Thankyouuuu Nandini!" She chirped and started eating it.

"Careful! It's hot!" I warned but she paid no heed and concentrated on her food.

It was almost 5pm when Rishabh returned home with Bhai but what I saw made me shocked.
