EDITED: 18th March 2019.
Diavolo.
I watch her from afar, she is running. From me. And even though that pissed the fuck out of me, I let her. She needed her space and I would give it to her as long as I could. To digest the information. But I knew it wouldn't be long before I crack.
I followed her in my car, hiding further behind, seeing her call someone and then wait on the sidewalk. I almost got out of the car and walked up to her. But before I could ponder on the thought a car stopped in front of her, a woman in the driver's seat, she sat in it and the car drove off.
I took a U-turn, calling Ryder through my Bluetooth earpiece while driving.
"Ryder, I want you to tell some of our men to guard Brooklyn's house and always know her whereabouts," I said, hearing a monotone, yes and then I hung up. I caught a movement in the side mirror and cursed. Fucking Russians.
I tapped the steering wheel while taking crazy turns. I looked in the side mirror once again, taking out my gun.
I held it in one hand, the other still driving. I pulled the window down and took the gun out pulling the trigger and firing twice at the window shield of the car following me.
I called Ryder once again, "I have some Russians on my tail. I am on the west of Border 2. Send backup in 10 minutes." I said and he replied with an alert, "Got it, boss." I ended the call and focused on the Russians.
Their car attempted to crash into mine, but I quickly swerved to the right and the car regained balance.
I shot once more, the bullet hitting their side mirror. I must have been not paying attention to the front as a car blocked my way. More Russians. I was now surrounded front and back with Russians.
I stopped the car, taking the gun and stepping out seeing 5 scrawny Russian men step out from all sides as well, looking smug. I smirked evilly at them as their smug looks slipped for a few seconds before it was back. I chuckled bitterly, pussies.
"Finally, you are a tough cookie to catch Diavolo." The man who looked to be leading them told me and I clenched my jaw. I hate that name.
"Or maybe you are just too weak to not be able to catch me," I said, one of my hands subtly taking the gun out of the waistband of my jeans.
I pulled the trigger, surprising them as I shot the same man in the chest before shooting the rest of them. I could tell the two men who surrounded me from the back were shocked but reacted fast.
They were two bulky men but I was the man. I shot one in the head and the other in his heart before they could even pull the trigger.
I looked at all the limp bodies, some groaning in pain but too weak to do anything. I laughed humorlessly,
"And that, my friends, is how you kill," I said to no one in particular, walking back to my car.
I waited a few minutes for the backup and when they came, I ordered them to clean up the place and burn the bodies before it reached the police. It was an empty highway with trees on both sides, but as soon as an outsider found out it wouldn't take long to spread to the media and authorities.
I started the engine and drove, never once glancing back. ---
"We attack tomorrow evening. Be prepared, and be on time. If you dare defy me you know what will be the result. Now scram." I roared to all of my men present in the room and as soon as I finished talking they rushed out.
Ryder, however, stayed by my side as I had told him to.
"Any news on Brooklyn?" I asked him, sitting on the chair as he stood opposite my desk.
"Nothing special boss. Her daily routine consists of waking up, going to work and coming back at night. Then Repeat." He said, and I nodded rubbing my thumb over my chin.
"Alright. Make sure she is safe during this havoc between the mafias. No harm should come to her. You know how messy these Russians can get." I said and he nodded, followed by a 'Yes sir.'
"Leave now. Prepare for tomorrow, spend time with your girlfriend or do whatever people your age do." I dismissed with a flick of my wrist, and he left.
He was 5 years younger than me which meant he was 22 right now.
Once I was alone in the room, I ran a hand through my hair before remembering something.
"Ahh, what help of me do you need now?" Antonio said as soon as he answered the phone.
"I don't need any help. I just wanted to tell you to stay on low for a few weeks. I am going to attack the Russians tomorrow." I said.
"About time. They were pissing off the Americans too. Sam hoped for you to do something about it. But sure, I'll stay away from the radar for a few." He said.
"Bunch of pussies, I tell you. Encountered a few yesterdays and they were like a piece of cake." I said, chuckling as he too chuckled.
Antonio Valdemort. My childhood friend and the only person who could I showed my emotions from time to time. We had met through a business party. He was 10, that time and I was 11. Now he is 26, one of the best trackers in the USA with a team like no other and helps me whenever I need it.
"So what about the Brooklyn girl?" He suddenly asked.
"What about her?" I retorted back.
"What's going on between you guys?" He questioned.
"Nothing. You know I don't date." I nonchalantly lied, trying to control myself.
"Diavolo, You need to move on. Ever since her, you haven't been the same. You are going to lose yourself. This cold exterior is nothing but an act and we both know that." He said, and I could feel my anger surfacing.
"I do not owe you any answers. You may be my friend but know your limits. And don't you ever say my name or mention her ever again." I snarled, hanging up and throwing the phone across the room.
It collided with the wall and shattered, but I paid no mind to it. I was too angry to care so I stood up grabbing my gun and stalked towards the only place that cools me down.
The gym.
