Happy Birthday kateabama , I hope you had an amazing day. For you, enjoy meu amor. _____

"Say hi." I told Beau, holding the phone to her sleepy face.

"Good morning Nadia." She rubbed the sleep from her eyes.

"Hi Beau, how are we this morning?" Nadia smiled through the phone.

"I just woke up, I don't knuws yet." She fell back against the pillows.

"What's the time there?" Nadia asked.

"It's 7 am, we have to get up and get ready for the day. Tell the boys we say hi okay." I held the camera to myself.

"Of course. Bye, we love you both." She blew a kiss and the video call ended.

Nadia had baby Catia. I wasn't allowed go to the birth because Carter was paranoid about something happening so I had to settle for being there through video call. In the letter she had given me, she asked if I could be the godmother of her baby and if she could name the baby after me if it was a little girl. Of course, I said yes, it was an honor but we both settled for my middle name instead of my first.

"Let's go have breakfast." I pulled her little legs as I got out of bed.

"Oh mummy, it's only early." She protested.

I stared at her little figure with amusement and slipped her designer slippers on she had gotten as a present.

"Up, now or else you won't go for your nap later today." I told her.

"Can I take my nap now?" She asked hopeful.

"Let's go sleepy head." I made my way to the bedroom door.

"No fair." She sighed, following behind me.

"Good morning Ms. Vice, Beau." Felik and Preston nodded.

"Morning." We replied in unison.

"Panquecas?" I suggested pancakes in Portuguese.

Carter and the guards around the house have been teaching us, we can almost speak fluently now. Beau picked up on it so easily, scientist say babies pick up on languages faster then adults so I wasn't so surprised when Beau rattled off in Portuguese as if she was born here.

That garorinha managed to surprise me every day. (Little girl). I let out a heartfelt sigh.

"Yes please mummy." She laughed as Zion pushed her around the room on her little bike.

I flipped our pancakes between my reading. Beau's laughter echoed in the room like every other morning. She ran out into the patio area to pick a flower, waving at the guards that stood outside the large glass doors.

Zion stood right behind her as she ran around, Carter made her Zion's first priority, like I am Messiahs.

Beau thought it was the funniest thing that Zion followed her everywhere, I was glad that we had the company of our guards or else she'd be bored out of her mind with no other person besides me and Carter, when we were out on our day trips I'd take her to the same park to see the friends she has made over the time.

"A flower for you Mummy." She handed me a yellow tulip.

"It's very beautiful, thank you." I kissed her cheek.

"You're welcome." She grinned, running off to her toys.

"Ms. Vice." Messiah nodded as he walked into the room and Preston and Felik left.

"Morning." I waved, plating up breakfast.

"I'm glad I fired my chef, he can't cook or bake like you do." Carter kissed my cheek and helped me carry our plates and other things to the dining table.

"Good morning Uncle Carter!" Beau ran to his already waiting arms to catch her.

"Oof, you're getting fast kiddo." He lifted her.

She giggled as he sat her in her high chair. Pulling faces at each other over the dining table as we ate.

"Ready to meet everyone?" He asked as we cleaned the dishes.

"As ready as I could ever be." I laughed drying my hands on a tea towel.

"We'll leave in an hour or so, it'll take us an hour to get to my Grandparents." He rolled his eyes at the thought of lunch with his family.

"Come on Beau, let's go get ready." I hummed, holding my hand out to her.

"Okayy." She patted Zion on the head to let her down onto the ground from her sitting position on his shoulders.

I shook my head at the both of them, letting a laugh bubble from my chest.

I showered and dressed her into a pastel violet top that flared out around the arms a little and paired it with some white three-quarter pants and white easy slip-on shoes. Pulling her hair into a simple ballerina bun on the top of her head, I set her in Carter's office with a couple of toys with him while I got ready myself.

I dressed in something plain, a white long sleeve top and a pair of high waisted jeans I paired off with some simple nude shoes and a nude suede jacket. I applied a light layer of makeup and slicked back my hair into a low bun.

By the time I had packed Beaus bag filled with her things she might need and a few snacks for the trip there and back, and a warm coat just in case, Carter was finished with the phone calls he was on and we made our way into the garage to pick out a car so we could leave.

"They'll ride with me, follow behind us." Carter ordered, buckling Beau's car seat into one of his many impressive cars.

With that, we settled into our cars and headed for his Grandparents house.

"Uncle Carter, is there going to be other kids there?" Beau asked excitingly.

"A couple, Yes." He chuckled at her excitement.

The drive there was filled with the three of us bickering at each other, Beau and I teaming up against Carter.

"We're here." He announced, pulling up to a beautiful farmhouse.

The house was big but not too big, it already had a cozy feel to it, yet I haven't been in there.

I pulled Beau's bag out and put the strap on my shoulder. Carter had already gotten Beau out and they made their way up to the steps of the house, Beau skipping along the side of him with her hand holding on to his pinky.

"Carter." An older woman came running out of the house, ready to pull him into a hug.

"Hi, Grandmother." He froze once she pulled him in.

"How is my Grandson? Well, I hope." She beamed at him.

"Of course." He replied stiffly.

"Oh, my goodness, who are these two pretty ladies?" She gushed at me and Beau.

"We'll make introductions inside with the rest." Carter rolled his eyes.

"Be nice older brother." I slapped the back of his head as we were ushered into the house.

"Everyone is just in the family room, I'll be there in a sec." His grandmother announced and headed further into the house.

Following behind Carter, we entered a big room filled with adults and teenagers. Everyone in the room was dressed in designer things, the men in expensive suits, the woman in designer clothing and even the teenagers but I didn't feel intimidated or underdressed.

"Rei." They all acknowledged Carter.

"Mummy why are they staring at us like that?" Beau asked, pointing at the room as she swung her and Carters hands back and forth.

"Curiosity?" I whispered to her.

"Of course that's her daughter, just like her mother, couldn't keep her legs shut." A woman stuck her nose up in the air.

"How old is that little girl, she looks around to be 3 and a half, she would have been pregnant at 15." Another woman laughed.

They spoke in Portuguese, not knowing I knew full well what they had just said. Judging me and they didn't know anything about me.

"Mummy." Beau let go of Carter's hand and came running to me.

At this point, Carter is shaking with anger and the room is dead silent. I knew he was holding it in for Beau's sake but by the look on his face, it didn't look like he was going to rein it in completely.

"Eu sei, meu amor. (I know, my love)" I smiled softly at her. "Don't cry, I'm okay."

"B-but they said mean things about you Mummy." She cried.

Sometimes I curse how smart you are. I thought, catching the tears that fell down her face.

"Come here, don't cry meu amor." I pulled her into my arms as she cried silently.

"WHAT DID I TELL YOU!" Carter boomed, he was passed livid.

His family took a step back, their expressions of a scared kind.

Family should not be this scared of their own. I thought.

"WHAT DID I TELL YOU!" Carter repeated but this time, he had a gun pointed straight at the woman who was first to insult me.

"D-d-don't step out of l-line." The woman hid behind a man who tried to move away from her.

"Carter, stop." I pulled the gun from his hand and dissembled it in seconds. "You're scaring her."

Everyone in the room could feel his wrath. As if snapping out of it, Carter turned to Beau and she held her arms out to him.

"I'm sorry Beau." He told her and took her from my arms.

She cried into his shoulder as he comforted her, everyone watched with interest and amazement.

"That's my mother Siena and her idiot of a best friend." Carter pointed at the two women.

"Nice to meet you both." I said politely as I could.

"I wasn't introducing them to you, I just wanted you to know who insulted you and your mother. Who called you and Maya a slut. Siena still hasn't got it in her thick head that our father left her because she cheated on him with his so-called best friend." Carter pointed at the man Siena tried hiding behind.

"Carter." I warned.

He had every right to be mad but there is a time and place for all this, and that time wasn't right now, not while there were kids piling into the room from who knows where.

"Beau isn't even yours but it didn't take long for my mother to jump at the opportunity to make you feel like shit, isn't that right mother?" Carter laughed without any humor.

"I-I-I." Siena's eyes filled with unshed tears.

"We're not playing the victim card, are we? The one who should be playing it is Ava, you openly insulted her and her dead mother in front of our whole family." Carter growled.

The mention of my mother being dead struck a nerve but I pushed the feeling away.

A guy I didn't made his way over to us and unexpectedly pulled me into a hug.

"It's great to finally meet you cous, I'm Kai and this is my little brother Kenyan but everyone calls him Ken, our mother has a fascination with the letter K." He laughed, pushing a little version of himself towards me.

"Hello Miss Ava, I'm Ken." He wrapped his arms around my hips, he looked to be around the age of six.

"It's lovely to meet you both." I chuckled.

"We aren't staying, let's go." Carter announced.

"Why?" Someone called out.

"Out of all of you only Kai and Ken made the effort to welcome Ava, if you can't show respect to my little sister then you can't show any to me." Carter pulled me by the arm and out of the door with Beau fast asleep in his other.

"Cut them all off completely." Carter growled into his phone.
