A human girl was on her bed. She looked rather young, with hair that was as dark as the clothes she wore. Why was there a human in her room?

“How did you get in my room?” She asked.

The girl gestured over to her purse with a shaky hand.

“So you snuck into my purse, huh?” Clair asked in annoyance.

A look of fear appeared in her green eyes “Well… yes but it was an accident.”

“So you just ‘accidentally’ walked in my purse?”

Her voice trembled. “Kind… kind of.”

“How long were you in there?!” Clair snapped.

“Five minutes, maybe.” She replied quietly.

Clair did the math in her head. She was at Jason’s five minutes ago. “Who are you?”

The girl gave a hesitant look and looked away. “I… I… I’m Stella.”

Stella! Clair’s eyes widened. That was the name Jason said! Anger grew inside her. “He’s cheating on me with a human?!” She couldn't believe it! She felt sick to her stomach!

Stella toppled over and stared back at Clair with fear. She tried to scrambled away but Clair pinched the back of her shirt and plucked her into the air. She squirmed and struggled to break free but it was futile. She dangled in front of Clair’s face.

“No, no no! I’m not doing anything with Jason, I swear!” Stella shrieked out.

“And why should I believe you?” Clair hissed back.

The girl’s breaths fast and shaky, she looked absolutely terrified, but Clair didn't care.

“B-b-because if I was, why…. Why would I make my presences k-known to you?” She flinched away expecting Clair to snap back.

But Clair did not respond with hostility. She had a good point. “So, Jason got a pet?”

“Yes-! I mean no-! I mean-! Look, it's complicated! Please just believe me!” She screamed hysterically. The poor girl was shaking like a leaf, she looked like she was about to cry.

“Hey, I didn't mean to scare you like that.” Clair said. “I just took my anger out on you.”

Stella stared at Clair, too frightened to say a word.

Clair looked away awkwardly. “I’ll believe you, just please don't cry.”

She adjusted her hand so the human was sitting in her palm instead, but before she could respond, a quiet knock came from the door.

“Clair? Is everything okay in there?”

“Uh, yeah mom.” she replied.

“What's going on in there? I heard yelling.” Mom said.

Clair walked over to the door and opened it. She was about the same height as Clair, with long, wavy gray hair growing past her shoulders. She blue eyes glanced down to Stella.

“You have a human!” She beamed.

“Yeah, well she’s not mine. She's Jason’s, I guess.”

“Jason got a human? How great!” Mom exclaimed. “What's your name, deary?”

“Stella.” She said quietly.

“Ooh, what a beautiful name.”

Clair rolled her eyes. She found her mother's fondness of humans kind of annoying.

“Can I hold you?” She asked Stella.

Stella looked unsure but before she could respond, Clair heard her phone go off. She shoved the human into her mother's hand and went to grab her phone.

“I was asking for her permission, Clair.” She snapped, but Clair just waved her off as she answered the phone.

“I found your human.” She said immediately.

“Oh, thank god! I thought Andrew took her to the shelter.” Jason responded.

“Why didn't you tell me you had a human?” Clair asked.

“She was too nervous to meet you, Clair. I wasn't cheating on you.”

“Stella already explain everything. I’m sorry.”

Jason sighed with relief. “Thanks babe.”

“So are you coming over here to get her now?”

There was a short pause. “Actually…”

Clair frowned. “You got called into work again?”

“gary got sick, and I really need the money, Clair.”

She sighed. “So now I have to watch her?”

“I'll get her by nine.”

“Fine.”

“Thanks babe, you're the best.” He said. “I gotta get ready now.

“Okay bye.”

“Bye.”

They hung up and Clair sighed. “Great, now I have to be a pet sitter.”
