"We'll have to rest here for the night," John said stopping and leaning against a tree.

"Thank god," Katherine said, taking a seat beside John. Both of them leaned against the tree, eyes closed from exhaustion. Katherine then opened her eyes to the now setting sun in front of her. 'It had to be almost 4 or 5'o'clock.' Katherine thought.

Her raced in her chest not just from the exhaustion of running none stop, but the excitement of freedom and safety that waited for her. She just only hoped and prayed John knew what he was doing and where they were going.

"What do you think it's like?" Katherine asked out of the blue.

John opened his eyes and raised a confused eyebrow. "What do you mean?"

"I mean the underground hideout. The safe haven." Katherine further implied looking at John.

John glanced over at her then looked at the afternoon sky ahead. "I'm not sure. I'm just hoping we get there in one piece." Katherine nodded her head in agreement.

"I just hope my parents and my brother are there," Kathrine said, voicing her thoughts out loud.

John looked over and gave her a curious look. "You have a family?" He asked her as if it was a foreign concept to him. Something he hasn't heard in a while. "I just figured your family was dead or something." Katherine looked over at him and John quickly gave her an apologetic look. "Sorry."

Katherine shook her head and sighed. "It's fine. Most people just assume that these days. Huh?" Katherine removed her back from the tree now sitting up straight with her legs cross. Her fingers grazed the dirty snow as she thought of what to say next. "I haven't seen my family in months. Well my sister I haven't seen in years, but then I saw her at the Winter Moon festival."

Katherine said as tears began to form in her eyes. John turned to her fully, watching her as she told her story. "I never got to say good-bye to my parents or brother, but I wasn't given the opportunity with her." Katherine then stopped messing with the snow on the ground and looked at John with glossy eyes. "Saying good-bye is the worst feeling ever."

John glanced over at her then at the ground. "I'm sorry." Was all John could say. "Why don't we keep moving." He suggested standing to his feet then held out his hand to Katherine. She nodded then took his hand standing to her feet.

"Where do you suggest we go now?" Katherine said, wiping tears from her eyes.

John looked around then back at Katherine. "Well according to what Henry told me-"

HOOWWLL!

John and Katherine froze in their place. Their hearts lurched in her chest. The breath felt like it was knocked out of Katherine's lungs. Her hand clenched John's arm in fear as she franticly looked around the woods surrounding them.

"I-Is that...oh god," Katherine whispered.

"It is...." John said looking around. "And it sounds close. We need to move. Now." John said, looking down at Katherine. Katherine nodded her head as she followed John through the trees.

John's grip on Katherine's hand was strong as he pulled her through the never-ending sea of trees. Their hearts raced in adrenaline as they ran for their lives.

HOOWWLL!

"Oh my god," Katherine said, looking back as she heard another terrifying howl.

"Just keep running, Katherine!" John said, pulling her along with him.

Katherine continued to run until suddenly she felt something tug at her foot. Soon she found her colliding with the ground hard followed by a bone-chilling sound of a 'crack' and 'pop'.

"Katherine!" John called to her as helped her up.

Katherine raised her head as she felt something warm run over her lips. "J-John." She raised her hand to her nose then pulled it away it see her fingers red with blood.

"Come on, Katherine." John grabbing Katherine by her arm.

CLICK CLICK

John's and Katherine's hearts drop as they slowly raised their head.

There stood before them were two individuals dressed in black head to toe. The only part of them not covered in black was their eyes. The two held what looked to be rifles in their hands that were now pointed directly at Katherine and John's head.

Both slowly raised their hands, eyes focused on them. "Please...we don't want any trouble."

HOOWWLL!

Everyone even the men holding the guns turned their heads toward the direction of the howl.

"Lycans?" One of the masked individuals said. Katherine and John both looked back at the two in panic.

"We should move." The other man said. They nodded to each other then looked toward Katherine and John. The butt of the gun was raised and the next thing they saw was darkness.

.........

A bright blinding light was the first thing Katherine saw. She quickly closed her eyes tightly then slowly opening them once more, but keep them squinted due to the unexpected light. Blinking her eyes several times, her eyes soon adjusted to see a bright lamp hanging above her. She then looked around to see a table next to her with looked to be equipment. More specifically medical equipment.

Confusion went through her mind as she sat up trying to get a better look where she was. At that moment, the sudden feeling of a pounding headache on mainly the left side of her head. She hissed at the pain. Katherine placed her hand on her head to feel a bit of bandaging applied to her head causing her to be even more confused. However, the pain on her wasn't the only aching pain she felt. She then raised her hand to her nose to feel bandaging there as well.

"Where am I?" Katherine asked, looking around. The area or place she was in looked to be a...tent? A very big tent. Maybe tents used in the military.

Her eyes continued to wander until they landed on another person in the room with her. "John?" Katherine said.

There John laid on the bed with a bandage placed on his head as well. He had a dark green blanket placed over him as he still laid on the bed unconscious.

"John?" Katherine said as she slowly began to get off the bed. She stumbled at first but managed to keep her balance. All of a sudden Katherine's short walk to John was cut short by the 'jerking' feeling at her ankle stopping her for going further. She looked down to see a chain connecting her to the bed she had just got off.

Fear began to rise in her again as she began frantically pulling at her chain. "John, please wake-up!" She yelled in a panic without thinking. 'We must have been captured by a lycan or worst...Demos.' Katherine thought as she tried to free herself. She stopped her efforts when she knew that it was futile.

Katherine sigh and began making her back to her bed, but suddenly froze in place. The sound of footsteps reached her ears. Judging by the sound they were close.

Katherine looked around frantically not sure what to do. The only thing she could think of however was to jump back in the bed and to just pretend to sleep (as foolish as that may sound). She did exactly that as the footsteps almost reached her tent.

As the individuals got closer, voices were heard as well.

"...I want this area sealed off." A voice commanded. "No one is to enter until further notice."

"Yes, sir." A few voices replied simultaneously.

The sound of talking and footsteps seem to stop with Katherine assuming they were at the entrance of the tent. Katherine squeezed her eyes tightly as her back was turned to them. She tried slowing breathing praying they fall for it or just ignore her.

"They must be still unconscious, General." A female voice said.

In response, there was a grunt then someone spoke up. "I know you're awake Katherine."

Katherine eyes flew open at the sound of her name. She sat up slowly and turned to see a tall man wearing a green military uniform. He appeared to be an older guy judging by his grey hair. Katherine's gaze then went to the lady beside him. She appeared to be a bit young maybe in her late 20s or early 30s. She was in a military uniform as well.

"H-How do you know my name?" Katherine asked.

"Well for starters everyone knows the name of the human Luna Prime." says the general as he takes a step forward.

"Also, there was a lady here yesterday who said she knew you." The lady said next to him with a small smile on her lips.

Katherine looked at her wide-eyed with curiosity and confusion. "Who?" She asked.

"Brittany Anderson"

A gasped escaped Katherine's mouth as she stood up from the bed. "Brittany Anderson? She was here yesterday?...Bri?"

The lady nodded her head. "Yeah, she recently stopped by a few hours ago. Of course, you were still out of it."

"I guess my men hit you harder than I thought." The general said, rubbing his neck.

Katherine looked between both of them until she spoke up. "W-Where am I? And why did your men knock me and my friend out?"

The woman and the general exchanged glanced before the general approached her once more. "My name is General Ross and this is Dr. Sullivan..." General Ross said, pointing at her. "And my men were the one who found you. They were supposed to sneak in the nearest town and bring in supplies, but he ran into you two." The general explained, glancing at the still unconscious John.

Katherine sat there in thought for a moment then spoke up once more. "Bring in supplies?...Where am I exactly?" She asked looking between them.

"Well, you're in what most people call safe haven, but we're more like the resistance."
