Kim Jiyoung looked at the door in worry. Looking back at Ji Soyu, Kim Jiyoung quietly got up as he walked towards the door. Peeking through the eyehole, he saw a man standing there. That first sight alone made him worry.
This situation was suspicious, Kim Jiyoung knew that much. He wasn't going to open up the door no matter what. Kim Jiyoung quickly turned back and walked towards Ji Soyu whom was now wide awake in alarm.
"What's going on? Who are you?" Ji Soyu looked at Kim Jiyoung, her eyes scanning him as she kept her distance.
Kim Jiyoung backed away, shaking his head, he replied back, "I'm not someone bad. Shinwoo told me to watch you because he had to go do something."
Just as he said this, he could hear more footsteps scattering at the door, the sound of voices getting louder. Ji Soyu became even more fidgety after hearing that. Her body was shaking slightly and her eyes narrowed even more.
Kim Jiyoung looked at the door, his nerves finally acting up. Those people were definitely targeting this place, that had to be sure. He bit his lips, thinking of a way that they could escape. If any of them had abilities like Lee Shinwoo or Min Yongjoon, that would make it an even worse situation.
The pounding of the door got louder and louder, Kim Jiyoung could already understand what the people outside were trying to do. They were most likely trying to take over a room or trying to steal supplies.
If Kim Jiyoung had an ability that would make everything easier but he didn't. A sudden loud sound came from the door and Kim Jiyoung looked up in worry. Then, looking at Ji Soyu, he finalized his thoughts. No matter what, Ji Soyu needed to be hidden.
"Soyu, can you hide somewhere you won't be found easily?" Kim Jiyoung gently asked as he knelt down to meet Ji Soyu's eyes.
Ji Soyu looked back up, her eyes watery as she nodded and immediately headed towards one of the bedroom and hid herself underneath the bed.
With her gone, Kim Jiyoung didn't have to worry about her being put in immediate danger. He looked back at the doors again. No matter what, the people on the outside might break in even if he didn't open the door. The best thing to do was to open the door.
He stood up and walked towards the door. Taking a deep breath, he opened the door as he immediately asked. "It's seven at night, what are you people doing here?" In front of Kim Jiyoung were two men and a women.
One of the men looked at Kim Jiyoung, his eyes gleaming slightly as he said, "Excuse us for inconveniencing you, we were wondering if you had room for us to spend the night." He was the taller of the two, his skin more tan and his eyes a light shade of brown and speckles of gold in it. His hair was blonde and his features strong.
Kim Jiyoung noticed right away that the people in front of him were foreigners. But even so, he steeled his heart as he narrowed his eyes and replied, "And how do I know that this isn't some type of scheme? You could easily kill me once you enter."
The woman spoke up this time, "We're not aiming for that at all. Please help us. My brother was wounded by some people we met along the road. They stole all of our stuff and tried to kill us. My brother was wounded trying to protect us. I beg you. We've been everywhere so far and nobody has let us in or given us any medical treatment for my brother." The woman speaking was almost in tears.
Then Kim Jiyoung noticed the other man was now leaning on the woman's shoulder. He couldn't see his face, but Kim Jiyounh saw that his skin was paler and his hair a light brown.
Kim Jiyoung listened, his heart still not settled before a hand touched his hand. Ji Soyu appeared behind him, sneaking a peak at them as she said with eyes that seemed unfocused, "Jiyoung, these people are trustworthy. Ruby, Max, and Landon, please come in."
Kim Jiyoung looked at Ji Soyu in surprise. He hadn't told her his name yet so how did she figure this out. But even so, he was sure that Ji Soyu had an ability now. Kim Jiyoung looked at the wounded man before nodding his head. "Alright, please come in."
Ruby looked at Ji Soyu in amazement as she held Max upright. Landon listened to what Ji Soyu said, amazed yet also not understanding what happened.
As they stepped in, they set Max on the floor as Ji Soyu ran to grab the medical kit. Kim Jiyoung looked at the wound on Max's back, a knife wound that ran for six inches. As Ji Soyu hurried back with the medical kit, Kim Jiyoung said, "How long has this wound been here?" Grabbing the blue gloves, he put it on his hand to avoid infecting the wound.
Ruby shook her head, trying to estimate the time. "Around four hours."
As Kim Jiyoung focused on cleaning up the wound and getting rid of the blood, he continued to asked, "Was his wound covered up? How much blood did he lose?"
Ruby continued to answer every question, watching as Kim Jiyoung quickly wrapped up the wound.
Kim Jiyoung kept asking questions as he carefully began stitching up Max's wound. The cut was deep, that was for sure. Judging by Max's pale face and the sweat dripping from his forehead, Kim Jiyoung could deduce that he lost a good amount of blood.
As Kim Jiyoung paid close attention to the wound, he thanked his lucky stars that he took medical classes in university. Since there was no anesthesia, he was sure that Max could feel the thread going into his flesh, and Kim Jiyoung grimaced.
While Kim Jiyoung was stitching up the wound, Ji Soyu looked at Landon as she began asking questions.
"You're Landon, right?" Ji Soyu asked, her big eyes looked at him with clearness in it.
Landon looked around, confused on how this child knew his name. He wasn't able to help it as he scratched his head with confusion and tilted his head, replying, "Yes?"
"Ughhhh!" Max suddenly frowned and groaned as he shifted his body. Kim Jiyoung couldn't help but make a face as he tried to be more careful.
"So, are you his sister?" Kim Jiyoung asked Ruby as he lifted his head towards Max.
"Yeah, he's my younger brother by three years. He's younger but he acts older than I am." As Ruby said this, she smiled as she held Max's hand.
"And that is?" Kim Jiyoung asked as he thought about the other guy, Landon or something.
Ruby looked at Landon as she replied, "He's my cousin. Landon is the only son of my aunt from my mom's side."
Landon nodded his head at Ruby's words before Ji Soyu suddenly took his hand and said, "Follow me. Since you're not doing anything, play a card game with me. My name is Ji Soyu."
Landon looked at Ji Soyu, and nodded his head as she pulled him away and took out a few games. Then, without any thing else, Landon played the games Ji Soyu took out.
Ruby looked at Kim Jiyoung as she suddenly asked, "I never asked you, but what is your name?"
Kim Jiyoung was almost done, now all he was doing was wrapping the wound. "My name is Kim Jiyoung."
As Ruby saw that he was wrapping up, a relieved sigh escaped from her. "Thank you, Jiyoung. Although we are just strangers, you still helped my family and us out."
"No problem. He probably won't be able to lay on his back so make sure he sleeps on his stomach. Also, if he needs to take a shower, make sure that no water touches his wound." Kim Jiyoung looked to see if there were any medicine he could give to Max to lessen the pain but there were none.
"Thank you," Ruby said once more as she helped shift Max's body into a more comfortable position.
Just then, the door closed open.
Lee Shinwoo entered, strolling in as everyone followed after him. When he saw what was happening, the only thing on his face was a clear confusion.
"What is going on here?" Lee Shinwoo asked as he looked at Max, whom was lying on the floor with the bandage.
Min Yongjoon was also clearly confused at the appearance of three other people. Kim Jiyoung sighed as he stood up, getting ready explain the mess. Ruby showed a strain smile as she looked at everyone.
If there was one thing I knew, it was that I had changed. It would be impossible for me not to notice that. From a young and naive youth, I grew into an evil and cruel-hearted man. While there are many that scorn me, if they were in my shoes, how long would they have last?
I grew up as the only son to my father and mother. My father was the sect leader of one of the largest sects and my mother was the only daughter of the most prestigious doctor.
They were everything I could've wished for. Under their care, I grew into a boy, heroic and brave, I didn't hesitate to save anyone. They taught me that there wasn't any evil in this world. I had many uncles and aunts in the sect who helped care for me. I loved them all and my parents confided in these people with everything.
That was until even my own family betrayed my parents. Those I called uncle, aunts, cousins, brothers, they called my father and mother a betrayer. They captured my mother and father, whom didn't even struggle as their own family betrayed them. They tortured my parents to death all for this seat, all for the position of sect leader. Because greed got to them, they no longer cared for things such as kin.
My parents didn't even struggle as they died, killed by those they trusted most. I ran away, holding onto the pendant that belonged only to the sect leader. Before my father was captured, he gave it to me, telling me to run away, that no matter what I must not hate these people. But how can I not when they betrayed their own family, killed my parents who only wished of safety for their people?
And, I escaped from that place, carrying along with me a seed of hatred that began growing. Even as I slowly grew, as I became stronger, I was still attacked because I held the pendant. They tried to kill me to take the pendant, to get rid of all evidence that they murdered their own brother to take over the sect.
I didn't believe in love until I met a man. I was injured, but he saved me without hesitation. He treated my wounds, and taught me that not everyone was evil. My seed of hatred slowly stopped growing as I spent my days with him. We got closer and closer, my love for him grew. And then, we finally realized that it was not a one-sided love. We spent a couple of years together before we got married.
I loved every single day with him. Even if everyone had betrayed me, I knew that he wouldn't. I gave him everything I had.
And fate was cruel.
Because even he betrayed me in the end.
For a higher position, he betrayed me. It was funny because I had sealed my cultivation to be with him thinking that he was someone who didn't belong in the cultivation world. I thought I knew him, it turned out that I didn't.
I sealed my powers, and when my sect found me once more and were trying to kill me, I couldn't use my powers. I ran with him, trying to find safety. They cornered us though, pushed towards the edge of a cliff.
I remember looking into his eyes, thinking that this was the ending for both of us. I smiled at him, lifting my hand to caress his face before a cold feeling pierced my heart. I looked down only to see his hand imbedding a dagger into my heart.
I wanted to ask him why he did it, why did he become like everyone else whom wanted my life. But I couldn't before he pushed me off the cliff and I plunged to my death. At least, I thought it was the end for me.
Taken by my evil hatred, I was given a second chance. I unlocked a new side to me, evil and cold, a devil from hell.
There wasn't such a thing as love in this world, it was merely a foolish game for the weak to play. There was only greed and selfishness, there was only evil in this world.
If so, why would it matter if I became evil?
Since the world had already turned its back on me, it shouldn't matter if I return every thing back.
I was merely returning back the pain that others have given me, I was returning their favors.
This was only revenge, I was merely avenging everything that was taken from me.
