"So for today, Orion made a list of things for you to do. It's pretty long, but I'm sure you'll do okay."

Lorena was kind of irritated that she had a chore list on her second day there, but then she realized that Orion works all day. She could help out with something.

"Okay, what do I do first?"

Max looked at her little notebook that she kept in her back pocket at all times. "Well, first he wants you to watch some training sessions. You'll be starting training with everyone else tomorrow, if I'm not mistaken, so it's a good idea to see what you're getting into. And they're going to want to place you into a group based on what they think you can do and then you'll move up through the ranks until you're up in Orion's group. It's hard to get into, but as the future Luna, you're expected to be as strong as the alpha."

She crossed her arms. "That's impossible. Since I was about six or seven, I've only trained with other females. There's no way I can be as strong as my alpha with the training I've had!"

Max rolled her eyes. "Are you even listening? They're going to push you until you are as strong as he is. In my opinion, if you're physically as strong as you are mentally, it should be a piece of cake."

Lorena scoffed. "Can't I just do something else? There's a whole list of things I can get done. Why this?"

Max shrugged. "Well, you can do whatever you want. Whatever isn't done on this list is only going to spur a conversation between you and the alpha as to why you haven't done them. I'm still getting paid regardless, sweetie."

Lorena nodded. "Fine." She followed Max out to the place where a ton of people about her age were training, some older wolves supervising.

She had to admit she was impressed and intimidated. The hand-to-hand combat was insane, and the moves they were doing looked nearly impossible. The wolf-on-wolf combat looked a little bit more doable, but she noticed that the pairs didn't hold back as much as her old pack did. They were so close to ripping each other's throats out it was scary.

Maybe that's why no matter how hard Lorena pushed to stay away from Orion in that arena, he was always catching her and outsmarting her. She couldn't even imagine the brutal training that he had to go through to be that good at what he did, and she knew she had no idea about half of the things her mate was capable of.

It scared her a little.

Max walked up to one of the older wolves, Lorena carefully treading behind her. She felt extremely uncomfortable knowing that despite her Class A ranking back home, she would be starting from the ground up here. It both irritated her and humbled her.

"Lorena, this is Richard. Richard, Lorena." She looked up almost sheepishly at the 6 foot tall man with blonde but silvering hair. He had to have been in his late thirties, but he was extremely fit and attractive, as most werewolves are until the age of 60.

Richard turned to Lorena and gave her a curt bow. "Luna. It's an honor."

She didn't know what to say to that. "Um? Thank you."

Max saved her from further embarrassment. "Anyways, Lorena, you're in good hands. Richard and his team will be training you for three hours at the beginning of each day everyday, until you're training alongside Orion."

Richard nodded. "I've heard that you were in Class A where you come from. You may have your work cut out for you here. It won't be so easy. Are you ready?"

Did she have a choice? "Yes."

"Great. We're going to see what you can do, starting with hand-to-hand combat. We're going to place you into a class and you'll move up from there."

He turned to a group that was training. "Gen, come here, please!"

Lorena eyed the woman as she ran over. She had long, sleek black hair, piercing green eyes, and beautiful fair skin. Lorena was so jealous of her perfectly sculpted but slight hourglass figure and the most perfect pair of tits she had ever seen. If Greek goddesses existed, she had to be one of them. She was so damn beautiful, Lorena found herself hating her own boring brown eyes, her slightly thicker figure, and maybe too small tits.

She had never encountered another female werewolf that made her feel that insecure before, and as childish as it was, it made her strongly dislike the girl on the spot.

Richard introduced them. "Gen, this is Lorena, our new Luna. You're to be her sparring partner so we can see what she's capable of."

Gen looked Lorena up and down, and inside Lorena was seething. Nonetheless, she needed to keep her cool. What kind of Luna could she be if she exploded on everyone that she felt looked at her wrong?

Gen gave her a sarcastic curtsy. "Your majesty."

She narrowed her eyes, trying to figure out if this girl was actually a bitch or if she was reading too far into everything.

"Gen. Nice to meet you. It's a pleasure."

"I assure you, the pleasure is all mine."

Richard put an end to the awkward back and forth. "Okay! Lorena, Gen, you mind stepping into that circle over there?"

Lorena walked over to the empty circle, Gen following close behind. Gen was built like she knew what she was doing. Without it being said, she knew Gen was probably one of the best fighters the pack had. She just radiated confidence and excellence, and she was scared she might not be able to handle what Gen was going to throw her way.

Lorena turned to give Max a pleading look, but unfortunately the other werewolf had her gaze glued to the clipboard in front of her, most likely trying to figure out what they were going to accomplish next.

"Take it easy on her until I give you the go ahead. Ready?" Lorena quickly stood in her fighting stance, expecting Gen to mirror her, but the other she-wolf stood there calmly. "Go."

Lorena hesitated at the last second and caught a blow to her side. She gasped in pain and pressed her palm to it in a feeble attempt to stop the pain from spreading. "Fuck." She looked up at Gen, glaring at her. "What's wrong with you? I clearly wasn't ready."

Gen scoffed in response. "Clearly, you were supposed to be ready."

"Girls." Richard sternly interrupted from outside of the circle. "Again."

Lorena slowly removed her hand from her side and this time took a page from Gen's book, standing upright and staring her directly in the eyes. She was always taught that eye contact was the best way to feel out your opponent before an attack.

"Go."

Lorena waited for Gen to throw a punch to the same place before grabbing her arm, twisting it up behind her back, and sweeping her legs so that she went face down into the dirt.

So she knew Gen was out for her. Why else would she try and hit her in the same spot she just had if she wasn't trying to injure her? If this is how Orion's pack was trained, then she would just have to be as brutal as they were.

Gen stood up and before Lorena could react, she rushed her and spun around before sending her foot flying quickly towards Lorena's jaw. Lorena shut her eyes and tried to shield herself, accidentally catching Gen's leg in the process. She acted quickly and threw Gen's foot away from her, punching her just as hard in her side.

Gen growled, but didn't even flinch before punching Lorena square in the face, splitting her lip in the process. Lorena grabbed Gen by the head and brought her knee up into her face.

Both girls groaned and Lorena wiped blood from her lip and Gen held her nose, blood flowing from it steadily. She growled and tackled Lorena to the ground, punching her all over.

Lorena had had enough and she was getting tired. She pulled the other girl's hair, causing her to lean to the side. She used that to her advantage and rolled over on top of her back, putting her neck in a tight headlock.

"Give in."

"No!" Gen struggled and Lorena smirked. She had been on the receiving end of this technique many times. The more the victim struggled, the faster they lost consciousness.

"Lorena!" Richard and two other male wolves pulled the two of them apart, prying Lorena's tight grip from around Gen's neck.

Lorena's head was spinning from being stood upright so suddenly, but once she got her bearings, she noticed that their little brawl had drawn a little bit of an audience.

She rolled her eyes and walked back towards the direction of her room, but not before glancing towards Gen to see her on her hands and knees glaring at her back as she left.
