ALEX'S POV

My eyes narrow with impatience and maybe a little annoyance as I wait for Blaze to finish his call. Why am I annoyed? Because he didn't deem it important to tell me who he's on the phone with. But why should I know? It's not like i'm the reason he's looking for her in the first place.

"Mind clueing me in?" I... suggest when he hangs up and immediately dials another number, my tone carefully even.

He spares me a glance.

"I found out who owns the gallery. I'm calling him" he states flatly.

His phone is hooked up to his cars bluetooth, so I hit the button on the dashboard that transfers it to the car phone, putting it on speaker.

He raises an eyebrow that says 'really?'

I counter with one that says 'I pay you.'

He lets it go.

"Jesus. What now?" Is the greeting we get when the call connects, his three pack a day voice carrying more than just an edge of irritation that he makes absolutely no attempt to hide.

I sit back, letting Blaze take this, having no fucking patience today.

"Jeffery Craig?" he asks without missing a beat, his voice the kind of dangerously low that makes grown men piss themselves.

There's a long pause.

"Yes?" It comes out as a high pitched question.

I chuckle, suddenly in a better mood.

"Who rented out your gallery last night?" He gets right to the point, blunt as you please, his determination not to accept no audible in the deceptively simple question.

Jeffery gets angry and grows balls.

Mistake number one.

"I don't know! He payed in cash and didn't give a name! I told all of this to the woman who called earlier! How in the hell do you people keep getting my number-?"

The rest of his rant fades to the background as Blaze and I share a look.

"Woman? What woman?" He cuts him off, looking... eager?

"I don't know, just some lady. I think she said her name was Nat. She asked who rented the gallery last night and threatened me when I said I couldn't tell her. I explained that he payed in cash and didn't offer his name, then told her to lose my number. I suggest you do the same" he clips a second before the line goes dead.

Nat.

For some reason the three letter word makes my heart skip a beat. I'm that much closer to finding her.

Blazes lips twitch into the closest thing to a grin i've ever seen from him as recognition sparks his eyes. My girl and the girl he thought she is are the same. Terrific.

"I bet she took that real well" he mutters under his breath.

I swallow down a growl, hating that it feels like he knows her. The way I feel I do. In a way that's beyond words. The soul deep, in an instant kind of connection. How she would react to things and what she would do. It makes me.. Itchy.

Something else I don't like? She got the gallery owners number before Blaze and he has connections it took years to build and tragedies to earn. How in the hell did she get hers?
