"A lot of parents make you feel very awkward when you meet them." ― Stephen Chbosky,
Diana slowly woke up with her body feeling slightly sore and a pair of strong arms holding her around the waist. Events of last night came flooding back to her head as her face turned the color of blood red. Diana finally made love to her amazing mate. Happiness filled her entire body for she knew her life was now perfect.
Adrain grunted waking up with his eyes landing on his beautiful mate. "Good morning my little rose. Sleep well?'
"I did. I may have said it before, but this was the best night ever," she said blushing softly not daring to meet Adrian's loving eyes.
Sitting up from his position Adrain took Diana's right cheek gently having her look him in the eyes. He leaned close ready to kiss her sweet lips Diana closed her eyes leaning close until Owen burst through the doors making Diana jump back with a gasp as she hides under the covers and Adrian growling loudly at who dared to barge in and ruin the moment.
Owen fixed himself catching his breath. "I'll take any punishment you want to give me for intruding but this is urgent."
"What is it then?!" Adrain shouted.
"Your parents are here and they want to meet Diana now."
Diana popped her head from under the covers looking both at Owen and Adrain with wide eyes not believing what she was hearing. "What!? Now? I'm not ready to meet them!"
Seeing this is the perfect time to make his escape, Owen rushes out the room leaving Adrian to now deal with having to calm down Diana. When this is over Adrian plans to get Owen back hard.
"Diana, please calm down. Take this as a good opportunity to get this over with."
"Easy for you to say, Adrian. You don't have to meet my parents because they suck and I don't believe they want a close relationship but high statues in the werewolf world."
"Wait are you serious?"
Diana gave him the "Really" look.
"Right," he said. "That was stupid of me to ask."
"That's my king," Diana said getting out of bed walking over to the bathroom to take a shower and get ready for the inevitable. Adrain soon joined her in the shower to help with "relaxing" her.
No later than thirty minutes of relaxation time in the shower both now ready and dressed. Adrian took Diana down to the royal rose garden where Adrain's parents waited at the pink rose pavilion. There Diana caught sight of Adrian's mother and father who she feared would look at her with disapproval only to be met with love in their eyes. Never seeing that in her parents.
Adrian walked over giving his parents a loving hug before turning back to Diana taking her hand pulling her closer.
"Mother, father I like for you to meet my loving mate Diana. Diana this is my mother Stella and my father Oliver."
"It's nice to finally meet you, Diana," Stella said with a welcoming smile pulling Diana into a big bear hug with Oliver soon joining in.
"It's about time our son found his mate and queen. I was starting to worry he might not have one in our lifetime." Oliver chuckled releasing from the hug with his wife doing the same. Diana giggled while Adrian had a pout planted onto his face not amused.
"Oh, don't make such a face. You know want you to live a good life with your mate leading our dragon kingdom to great things." his mother said.
"Let's all take a seat. We have much to discuss." Oliver said pointing over for everyone to take a seat inside the rose pavilion where breakfast was waiting to be devoured.
Adrian's parents sat across from Diana and Adrain making small talk mixed with laughter that brighten the day more. Stella had asked how Diana met her son during the ball and Adrian was quick to answer making Diana blush through the whole story. He even showed little annoyance when Diana's sister almost ruined the night.
"I believe a girl like Amora has no right to be called a sister. What a disgrace that you had to put up with. I remember back when I was a child and my mother told me how werewolves back then respected the mate bond and family is important. Sad how the times have changed." Stella said with a light sigh. The look in her eyes could show how she misses the peaceful loving days.
"I will admit that most packs have lost their way and only a few packs respect one another. My old pack only cared about having high statues believing they are perfect in every way. I won't be surprised if a fox was to attack my old pack any day. And I'm not sorry to say that I want that to happen. Maybe then they will learn." Diana finished saying looking down at her half-eaten plate.
Adrain took hold of Diana's hand giving it a gentle squeeze letting her know he is there for her.
"To know that the rumors are true. That the fox race has come back is a good sign. Not much is known about the fox race, but I have heard that they are the most respected and powerful. There are even old rumors they say the fox race never saw eye to eye with the moon goddess." Oliver said.
Diana snapped her head up. "Why is that?" she asked.
"It's easy to know why when you think of a certain alpha and human," Stella said taking a sip of her coffee.
A certain alpha and human? Luna thought hard to seen realize what she was talking about.
"Alpha Theo and his human mate Luna."
"That is correct." Stella began. "Alpha Theo was rejected by his first and second chance mate. Everyone believed that he would never be loved until that human girl changed everything."
"Mom is right. Yesterday alpha Sean stopped by to have a talk with me about his meeting with the alpha king. There everyone found out that alpha Theo's mate knew some things about the fox race. She even admitted to meeting one when she was just a child."
"Does she know why they have been attacking certain packs?" Diana asked.
"I'm afraid not my little rose. She only gave little information on who they are and that they protect the peace with all races."
"When I think about it. That does make sense." Diana said finishing the rest of her food off.
Stella and Oliver stood up from their seats.
"I believe it is time for us to get going. It was wonderful to meet you, my dear. We hope to come back and spend some time with you again. If you ever need any help with being a queen don't hesitate to call me." Stella said giving Diana another hug before leaving with her mate.
Adrain hugged Diana from behind swaying her body gently with his chin resting on her shoulder.
"And you thought meeting my parents was going to be scary," he said with a smirk planted on his face.
Diana rolled her eyes smiling. "Whip that smirk off your face. And I'm glad I got to meet your parents. I can easily say I love them."
After an eventful; morning with Adrain's parents Diana was chilling the royal library with Adrain who was looking over some documents that needed to be signed.
Owen and Megan came on by to hang out with Megan talking with Diana and Owen helping Adrian out.
"You know I'm still going to come up with one hell of a punishment for you," Adrain said placing his pen down.
"Damn," Owen said. "I was hoping you forgot."
"Yeah. You didn't pray hard enough for that."
Owen rolled his eyes mumbling on a plan to make Adrian forget the punishment because he knows damn well the punishment will be hell.
"Megan would never let her beloved mate be hurt!" Owen shouted.
"You have my blessing to give him hell king!" Megan shouted back.
Adrain smiled. "You heard your mate."
"Traitor!"
Laughter filled the library but Owen was the only grumpy pants in the room. The laughter died down when an unexpected guest came into the library looking around.
"Is that Lu?" Megan asked taking a closer look.
"Yeah, it is. What is she doing here?" Owen asked.
"Who is Lu?" Diana asked getting up from her seat.
"Lu is a warrior dragon. She's the best in her work and is very respected with her team." Adrain said.
"Hey, Lu. What brings you here?" Owen asked.
Lu turned her attention over to them till her eyes landed on Adrian and stayed there. Diana noticed this and had an upset feeling noting at her stomach.
"Sorry to interrupt but I have some things I need to discuss with my king. It won't take long."
"Whatever you have to say you can say it with your queen too," Adrain said only paying attention to his work and Diana.
"It's okay my love. Go and talk to her. I'm sure it's important. Besides Megan here wanted to talk to me about something important."
"I was?" she asked while Diana gave her a sharp look. "I mean yeah. I was."
Adrain gazed at Diana for a moment before getting up from his seat and walking out the library with Lu. Owen stayed sitting not wanting to be a part of what could and will be unfolding.
"Diana. It's clear to see that Lu does hold feelings for Adrian." Megan began. "Though you don't have anything to worry about since Adrain only has eyes for you."
"I know," Diana said. "I just can't shake this feeling."
