"Surrounded by the flames of jealousy, the jealous one winds up, like the scorpion, turning the poisoned sting against himself." – Friedrich Nietzsche, Thus Spoke Zarathustra

Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself, Love possesses not nor would it be possessed: For love is sufficient unto love." – Kahlil Gibran

After the talk with Megan, Diana walked. That pit of worry still sunk her stomach. She was jealous, yes, but she was still worried. Her lover with a girl that held feelings for him, it was only honest feelings to worry and be jealous.

Diana walked outside to the garden taking the backway from the royal library to clear her mind. Bell kept growling in her head cursing that girl if she ever dares to touch their mate. Diana had to reassure her wolf that nothing was going to happen even if her gut feeling was making her think of many wrong possibilities that could happen. It's never a good thing when someone else has feelings for their mate.

"There you are," Adrian's voice startled Diana. She met his eyes as he approached her after the long talk. Diana cast her gaze away, a pout now plastered on her face. Adrian saw and chuckled and stood in front of her.

"What's with the pout my little rose?"

Diana said nothing. The feeling had depleted now that Lu was away from him but seeing him listen to her and say to go with Lu to talk made the feeling stays, not to mention Megan and her words.

"Diana?"

"Nothing...," she sighed playing with her hair. Adrian knew better though. That pout she gave when something she doesn't like happens, yes, he knew it. Adrian held Diana's face in his hand, having his lover look at him.

"Something is wrong, little rose," he smiled. "Could it be."

"DON'T you say it," she glared. Adrian smirked and rubbed her cheek and chuckle. Only for his words to come out in a deep coo that sent a shiver up her spine.

"Jealous~"

Diana turns away from her mate, cheeks flaring red from his voice. Damn him and his teasing. Why does he do that with his voice!?

"Well, ~?" Adrian chuckled, "My little rose is jealous~ How adorable~"

"B-Be quiet!"

"Nope~ Never~!" He laughed as Diana's face turned shades darker of red.

For the rest of the day, Adrain teased Diana on and on about how cute her jealousy was and how it made him feel loved. Diana wanted to tease him back telling him if someone was to hit on her only for it to backfire with Adrian's eyes turning dark making it clear that he would burn that person to ashes if that ever happens. Although that dark look in his eyes did give Diana an exciting feeling rushing through her body. Adrain felt that rush thanks to the mate bond and decided to have some alone time with Diana in which she had no complaints.

"Diana, do you think werewolves are faster than dragons in a race?" Megan asked being completely random while they were studying for a test while Adrain was with Owen investigating more into the whole demi fox god situation.

"Why must you be so random? And how would I know? Wolves are fast, but I don't think they are faster than a dragon that can fly."

Megan stood up with a hint of excitement flashing through her eyes.

"Then why don't you and Adrain race to see who is fast! It could be fun! King vs the Queen!"

The thought of beating Adrain in a race did spark an interest in Diana and Bell.

"Why not Diana. We should show our mate that we are not just strong but fast too." Bell said.

Diana thought about it more before agreeing to the idea.

"Okay. When Adrain gets back we will ask him."

"Ask me what?" Adrain asked leaning on the door frame with Owen beside him.

Megan jumped at the chance first before Diana could ask.

"You race Diana to see who is the fastest. You, my king, take to the sky and Diana on the ground. The first one to reach the finished line shall be known as the fastest in the kingdom!"

Diana face palmed shaking her head making eye contact with Adrian who had a very sly smirk on his face.

"I'm down for that, but will there be a penalty for the loser?" Adrain asked his eyes still on Diana making her face pale.

"Um. The loser will do whatever the winner wants for a full day. How does that sound?"

Diana snapped her head to Megan with a horrified look.

"Seriously Megan!? For a full day!" Diana shouted gripping Megan's shoulders shaking her repeatedly.

Adrain stepped forward pulling Diana away from Megan and into his strong tight hold.

"What's the matter my little rose? ~ Are you scared to lose? Don't worry about a thing. When I win, I won't do much to you since you won't be walking for a while if you know what I mean."

The mere thought of what he said turned Diana's face fifty shades of red in an instant. Diana pulled from Adrain's grip looking him dead in the eyes with a determination.

"Don't think you won just yet! Let's settle this right now. I won't be beaten."

Adrian smirked. "Let's go then."

While Adrain and Diana have their little standoff Megan can be seen holding her phone up recording them.

"Megan?" Owen asked walking beside her.

"What?" She asked. "His parents would love to see this side of their son."

"You have guts. I'll give you that."

I know."

There was a brief moment of silence as Adrain and Diana stood at the place they marked as the starting line. They had agreed that the next herd call from Owen would signal the start. It was something natural that couldn't be influenced by either party. The Diana shifter into her white wolf and carefully stretched her ears perked up to listen for the call to start. Adrian already shifted into his dragon and was waiting up in the sky for the call too. Once the call was sounded, they both took off. Adrain was soaring, pushing through the clouds and up into the air above where he knew he'd be safe from any weather interference.

Diana growled lowly jumping a log and giving a loud determined grunt as she continued her pace. Her paws crunched as they passed over twigs and stones leaves and flowers. She knew her way through the forest. The air was wet with tension as she streaked over the final stretch, growling harshly as a shadow passed over her head, Adrian landing at the finish line before her and taking a taunting step over the finish line. Diana made it to the finish line 4 seconds after Adrain growling in defeat. Adrain shifted back satisfied look on his face. Diana shifted back to see her now pouting.

"The winner is king Adrian!" Megan shouted.

Diana sighed. "Damn. I thought I could win..."

"You still did wonderful my little rose." Adrian said taking Diana's hand and kissing the top of her head."

Diana smiled hugging Adrain nuzzling his neck with a soft purr that only Adrain heard.

"So, what do you have planned for me, my king."

Adrain's kind smile faded into a dark one. "I have a few idea's"~
