~Attention~
Hi guys! So first off, welcome to the halloween update but I have a few things to tell you. !This update does not directly correlate to the storyline! I ended "One Desire" in the ways I deemed most represented the overall feeling of the story. This was just a little side story on what could've happened after you escaped. Secondly! Im very sorry if you were expecting Connor and Aiden in this, but it's geared towards Micah and Reed (Check back on Christmas for them maybe). Anyway, enjoy the story!
The neighing of a horse could be heard from outside the house as you folded clothes and placed them into a small wicker basket. You sighed as you folded the last shirt and picked up the clothes, heading farther into the house.
It had been 5 months since you and Reed had escaped from the kingdom and the princes. Each day free from them seemed even more lovely than the last and you always made sure to be thankful for the freedom you had.
You walked up a set of wooden stairs and emerged on the second floor where you opened the door closest to it. Inside, grey walls and a wooden floor made up a room and a wooden bed with a small mattress was tucked into the corner. A desk was on the other side of the bed and on it sat an unfinished drawing, or more sketch, of a horse.
You set the basket down on the bed and went over to the desk, picking up the paper gently. You could trace all the erase marks, but the finished product was near anatomically correct to a horse. Smiling, you set the paper back down and left the room, going into the one across from it.
Again, it had grey walls and a wooden floor, but was slightly larger. A bigger bed sat in the corner and an equal sized desk sat on the other side, however, a stack of books sat on top of this one. This was your room.
You sat down on the bed, letting yourself have a moment to relax. If you strained your ears, you could hear Reeds voice outside, however you couldn't tell if he was talking to a horse or another child. Your gaze wandered to the small calendar hanging on the wall and froze.
Immediately you shot up from your bed and ran back downstairs. You opened the door and stepped outside, going around the side of the house to the small stable. Reed sat there beside a horse, running a brush through its mane as he talked to it. Seeing you come around, he stopped mid-conversation and stood up, grinning.
"Hey (Y/n)! I was wondering when you would realize." He laughed slightly, his blue eyes sparkling.
You looked at him apologetically, "I thought today was a normal day. I'm so sorry Reed."
He shook his head and stood up, grabbing your hand, "Its okay. We still have plenty of time left."
You nodded and the two of you started walking down the small dirt road that led away from your house. It was a Thursday which meant the two of you traveled into the village and spent the day there together. Just the two of you.
The way it started was kind of silly. When the two of you had gotten far enough away from the kingdom, you had found a small village. Most of the people living there were very kind and told you of a vacant house about a mile outside of the area. Realizing that it was probably the safest option, the two of you had moved in.
An old lady living in the village who went by Ms. Waples made you promise that you would visit the village once a week for the first month so that she could make sure the two of you were 'taking care of yourself.' After that, the habit just stuck.
Reed skipped down the road, slightly ahead of you. You smiled, noticing how carefree and childlike he was now that he didn't have a lot of stress on him. You were a different person now too. It was refreshing.
After about 20 minutes, the village came into view and Reed announced a race to the entrance. The two of you ran the rest of the way and burst into laughter when you crossed at the same time.
"I clearly won." You said with a smile as you walked down the cobblestone path that led throughout the village.
"You wish. I went so fast that not even the princes could catch me." Reed laughed as he stopped in front of one of the shops. "I want to go say hi to Mr. Hokle."
You nodded, "That's fine. I have to go buy some food anyway so I'll be a few shops down."
Reed nodded and disappeared inside one of the buildings. You walked a little farther down and then entered a store.
A bell announced your entrance and a lady on the far side of the large room looked up from her book.
"Well hello Miss (Y/n). It's your weekly visit isn't it?"
You smiled as you grabbed a few herbs and vegetables, "Yes it is Mrs. Waples. Its Thursday after all."
The older woman smiled and nodded, "Of course. The usual huh? I swear you and that boy hardly eat anything, yet you seem fine."
You smiled and shook your head, "I just know how to get by with very little ma'am. We've both been through a lot and-"
"And you can adapt to your situation. You say that every week dear, come up with a new excuse." She winked and went back to reading her book.
Eventually you came up to her and dropped a few coins on the counter, "Will that be enough?"
"I don't know why you insist on paying for everything. I always say you can take whatever you need." The old woman huffed.
"I feel like a burden if I just take it." You smiled meekly.
"Never say that. I enjoy looking out for you and that small boy. Tell him to come visit me one of these times, you hear?"
You smiled and waved as you exited the building, "Of course Mrs. Waples."
When you got back down through the shops, Reed was already waiting for you.
"Ready?" You asked as you came up to him.
"Yeah." He said as he smiled slightly.
The two of you made your way to the center of the village. Usually you let Reed play with the other children for a while, while you talked and caught up with the other people who lived there.
The center was marked by a fountain and you sat on the edge, watching Reed vaguely as he ran off towards a group of kids.
"Well if it isn't Miss (Y/n) (L/N)." Someone said and you turned to see a man sitting beside you. A sudden burst of cold air ran by the fountain and you shivered slightly.
"Hello Jeremy." You gave the man a small smile.
Jeremy was about your age and he had brown curly hair with brown eyes. He was the first person who welcomed you and Reed into the village.
"How's life been on the outskirts?" He asked, glancing at Reed.
"It's been good. Anything is good though compared to what we've gone through before." You answered, a small laugh escaping your lips.
"Yes, you're right." He smiled faintly. "If you guys ever need anything, just tell me. Don't hesitate."
"I won't." You said with a smile. "So, what's the new gossip this week?"
Jeremy laughed, "A lady came through a few days ago and is staying at one of the abandoned shops. She claims she can read spirits and have conversations with the other side. It's a bunch of fake tricks meant to bring in money though."
You laughed as well, "Sounds fun."
The two of you talked for the next hour, chatting about Reed and how Jeremy was doing in the village. Eventually, you realized what time it was, excused yourself from the conversation, and stood up.
"Watch out for the lady. She might try to corner you on the way out." Jeremy said with a laugh as he waved.
"I think I'll be able to handle her." You smiled and walked over to the group of children to get Reed. He said a quick goodbye and then the two of you headed out of the village.
He talked about what had been happening with the other kids as the two of you got closer to the exit. You smiled and made comments when due, but were looking around for any sign of the lady. You preferred that Reed wasn't exposed to like her.
"Young lady! Small child!" a foreign voice said.
You turned your head around to see an old woman standing in front of a door by the exit. She wore a long black dress and had silver bracelets up both of her arms.
"Hello ma'am." You said as you walked by her.
"Would you care to have your fortune told or contact a spirit?" She asked, excitement in her voice.
"No ma'am. I dont know of any spirits or things I would like to know in my future." You set your gaze back on the exit and tightened your grip on Reed, slightly increasing your pace.
"Ah, but there's one that would like to talk to you."
Your head whipped back around towards her and you raised an eyebrow. The woman seemed to be looking slightly to your left, not at you. "What do you mean?"
"He knows you two..." She trailed off, her brow furrowing, "(Y/n)...and Reese...? No, Reed." She stated.
You could feel Reed step behind you slightly and your expression hardened, "How do you know us."
"He told me." The lady pointed over your shoulder.
You looked behind you, but there was no one. "There's no one there. Who told you?"
"Oh but there is. He's attached to you, following you. He wants you to come inside." The lady stated. "He wants to talk to you."
"Who is he?" You asked again.
The lady laughed, "She is stubborn, isn't she? (Y/n), it is not a trick. Please, come inside. An old acquaintance wants to talk to you once again."
You took a step forward but Reed squeezed your hand, "(Y/n)...Dont..."
"It's okay. We'll leave if things seem suspicious. I want to know who she's talking about." You whispered softly as you walked over to the lady.
She disappeared inside and you followed, blinking a few times to get your eyes to adjust to the dim lighting.
The room was dark and had a dark color scheme as well. Black satin curtains and grey tablecloths made up the fabrics used in the room. Plush purple seat cushions and ribbon were the only pop of color the room had. There was a singular table in the middle of the room with three chairs around it. You shivered slightly.
"Come sit down." The lady said as she sat in one chair on the opposite side of the table.
You tentatively took a seat and Reed took the other. He looked around the room worriedly and you gave his hand a gentle squeeze.
"Now, what is your first question?" The lady asked, a smile spreading across her lips.
"Who are you talking about?" You rushed out, looking at her intently.
"Hm." She turned her head to the only spot at the table that didn't have a chair and nodded slowly as if someone was talking to her.
"A palace seamster. Black hair and blue eyes, slightly tall with a blue and white uniform." She responded.
Your heart pounded in your chest as you leaned forward, "What?! What is his name?!"
"His name..." She repeated, listening intently.
"Micah? Micah Odell."
You felt as if time had stopped. Nothing in the room moved and you heard the roaring of your blood in your ears.
Micah...Micahs here...? He can talk...?
You could see Reed trembling slightly and you stared at the woman, "How is he here? He died. I don't believe you."
She laughed, "Dear, no one ever dies. Energy can never be made or destroyed, we just walk the earth in another form after our time comes."
"So there are millions of spirits on the earth?"
She pursed her lips, "Well, no. Only those with strong desires and emotions can actually manifest into what we call 'ghosts', but even though we can't see them, there are still millions more."
"Why can you see Micah?" Reeds quiet voice asked.
"I sense great pain and love for him." The lady's gaze shifted back to you, "Were you husband and wife?"
Your face went red, "O-Oh no! He was a worker in a palace in a different kingdom and we got close as friends."
The lady nodded and then paused, "Oh my, he didn't like that." A laugh escaped her lips.
You raised an eyebrow, "Didn't like what?"
She smiled slightly, "He said, 'Come on Angel, we both know it was more than just friendship' in a less than happy voice."
Your face when a deeper shade of red and you looked at the tablecloth, "Um, you can talk to him?"
A nod.
"Micah...have you been following us the entire time?"
"Every day. He watches over you." Was her response.
"Oh...Ms ...?" You trailed off as you realized you didn't know her name.
The lady laughed, "My apologies. I saw the pain and sorrow in this man and immediately tried to help. My name is Miss Metorm, medium and spirit extraordinaire.
You nodded, "Miss Metorm, is there any way I could talk to him?"
A small smile spread across her face, "My dear, you must have extraordinary luck. If you didn't know, tonight is a special night. Its All Hallows Eve, the night where the veil between the regular and the spirit world is the thinnest. Now, I haven't tried this enough to be confident, but there is a way for me to establish a connection from you to him through me."
Your face lit up, "Do you really mean it?"
"Yes, but it might not work so please don't get your hopes up."
You looked at Reed to see tears in his eyes, "Reed!? What's wrong?"
"I missed him..." He whispered, "I really missed him and I thought I lost him forever."
You took a sharp breath and pulled him into you, "Me too. Me too, Reed."
"Micah seems to be more than happy with this idea." Miss Metorm said, "Now (Y/n), if you would grab my hand."
She rested her hand on the table and you apprehensively placed yours in hers. A shiver ran down your spine and the room seemed to grow colder.
"You're going to feel cold for a while, but that's normal. I'm peeling back the normal barriers you've built up against the spirit world so you can talk and potentially see him." She explained.
You waited for a few minutes before she sighed, "Alright. Let's try this. (Y/n), say something to Micah."
You blinked a few times, "Um, hello?"
"Angel?" A familiar voice that sounded like it was coming from the far end of a tunnel echoed around you.
"M-Micah?!" You stuttered as you looked around.
"You can hear me?" His voice sounded shocked and hopeful.
You nodded quickly, tears coming to your eyes.
"Look around the room," The lady said softly, "Can you see him?"
You squinted your eyes and looked around but saw nothing.
"No, don't look just at what you see, try to look deeper."
You nodded and peered around the room, trying to look for something that wasn't there. Slowly, a hazy silhouette materialized by the side of the table.
"He's there." You pointed at the figure, shaking slightly.
Metorm nodded, "Yes. He is. You have to train to be able to actually see him so he must just look like a shadow to you, however he has a very happy expression right now."
A tear rolled down your cheek, "Micah...I missed you so much. I was so scared our plan wouldn't work and then I realized you truly were gone...I-"
"Shh, Angel. You did it. You got away. You're here now." His voice was soothing and echoed around you.
Reed pulled on the sleeve of your shirt, "Tell him I say hi and I miss him."
Micah laughed slightly, "I miss you too Reed. I wish things had ended differently."
You relayed his message to Reed who nodded slowly, his lip trembling.
"If you don't mind me asking, what exactly happened to you three? Was it a natural disaster or was it an accident?"
"Neither," You said softly, "People killed him because he was precious to me."
"Ah, I see."
"Well, there's more to the story." You said as you glanced between Miss Metorm and the silhouette of Micah.
You took a deep shaky breath and told the lady what had happened to the three of you. When you finished you sat there and watched as multiple emotions passed over her face.
"Our plan was to start a new life, the three of us, out here somewhere. But, it didn't end up that way." You added, glancing at Micah and giving him a small smile. You couldn't tell what his reaction was.
"Stay there for a second." She said as she stood up, her hand slipping away from yours. Immediately, you became warmer and the image of Micah slipped out of your view.
She disappeared into a back room where you could hear her move multiple things around.
"Is it really him?" Reed asked, looking at you hopefully, and you nodded.
Miss Metorm re-emerged from her room with something in her hands and she sat back down at the table. She laid down what was in her hand, a book.
"In all my years of doing this, I've never heard a more tragic story of events linked to a spirit. I'm so very sorry for what you had to endure, but I might have something that can make it better."
You leaned forward to get a better look at the book, "What is it?"
She opened the old leather cover and ran her finger down a page until she muttered something to herself and began turning through the book. "This is a book that has been passed down through my family for generations. I'm trying to find one such page that might be able to help you."
You nodded and fidgeted in your seat, glancing at where you had seen Micah. Everything felt like a dream, like it was too good to be true.
"Aha!" Miss Metorm said triumphantly as she looked down at a page in the book.
From upside down, you couldn't make out much except for a drawing of a circle with weird squiggles and lines inside of it.
You and Reed watched curiously as she skimmed over the page, silently mouthing the words to herself before a faint smile came to her face.
"(Y/n)," She said as she looked up at you.
"Yes?" You asked, leaning forward.
"You love him don't you?"
You froze, the color draining from your face. You began sputtering, looking for some kind of sentence to say, but nothing came.
Miss Metorm laughed, "It's okay dear. I already know the answer. It's obvious on your face."
She turned the book around and shoved it towards you.
The symbols and weird text glided across the page in tangles and messes, not having any rhyme or reason it seemed. You looked up to see her eyes glittering with excitement.
"Now," She began, "You can't understand this language, but it talks about a ritual that can bring people back from the dead."
Your eyes widened slightly, "But isn't that impossible?"
"Not completely." She turned the book back around and pointed to a section of text, "It says there are requirements for it to be able to happen. The first being that you have a stable connection and can talk to/see said spirit that you want to bring back. The second is a list of ingredients I can obtain easily, but the third is an act of force, a reason to bring the person back." She looked at you expectantly. "You meet all the criteria."
You could feel hope start to swell inside you but something stopped it from registering, "Miss Metorm, if you don't mind me asking, why are you helping me...us?" You gestured to Reed.
She sighed faintly and closed her eyes, "In all my years of connecting and contacting spirits, they've always seemed just like that...spirits ...but with you and this man there's a bond, a connection that I can't completely explain. It's different and special and you two care for each other so that's why I want to help."
You sat there and glanced at Reed. He looked back at you in a mixture of fear and hope. Was this really going to happen?
You looked back at her and nodded, "Alright, can we do the ritual?"
Miss Metorm's demeanor changed and brightened up, "Of course, we can do it tonight when we'll have the highest success rate. I'll need some clove and mushrooms and- oh!" She gave a guilty smile, "Sorry, I went off. Where you do you live so that we can do it nearby."
"Ah, on the southern outskirts of town, in the old farmhouse." You answered with an uneasy smile.
"Oh! I've always loved that house. You know, the town actually used to be over there about over a century ago. My great-grandma knew the lady who lived there. She was a seamstress and that house has a lot of spiritual energy. It'll be perfect."
"Great! Um, how do you want me to pay you?" You asked, "We don't have a lot but I'm sure I can find something to repay you with."
"Think nothing of it. It'll be free, just show up later tonight. Does 11 work for you?"
You nodded and stood up.
"Perfect! I'll see you then, have a great rest of your day." She glanced over at where Micah was, "And make sure they don't get into trouble."
You laughed and took Reeds hand. Verbalizing another thank you, you left the shop and headed down the path towards your house.
The next few hours were agonizingly long. You sat in a chair in the kitchen trying in vain to hear or see Micah somehow, but it never happened. Reed had gone back outside with the horses and you hadn't heard from him since. Dinner was relatively quiet as well. You made a soup with the vegetables you had bought, but Reed uttered nothing. After dinner, he went back outside.
"Is this going to work?" You muttered as you sat down on the small couch in the living room. A burst of cold air passed over the back of your neck and you shivered slightly.
You read until about 10:30 when you went upstairs to grab a jacket and went outside to see what Reed was up to. He was still sitting beside the horse and smiled when you came over.
"Is it time?" He asked, quietly.
"Yes, she'll be here soon." You murmured, reaching your hand out towards him. He took it and you guided him over to the road.
After a few minutes, the woman appeared around a corner with a basket of things in her hands.
"How was the rest of your day?" You asked as she came up to you, trying to seem pleasant. Inside, you were a mess of nerves and worry.
"Fine, dear. Lets go do it in this patch of trees over here." Miss Metorm pointed to a small area of trees and walked over. You and Reed followed behind.
She sat down the basket and pulled a jar of greyish looking sand out of it and began sprinkling it on the ground. After a few seconds it resembled the drawing you saw on the page earlier. After she was finished with that, she moved on to singular items. A jar of water was placed at the top, a group of flower petals to the left side of the circle, a piece of paper to the right, and at the bottom, a skull.
You stepped back slightly, "Where did you get that?"
She noticed your worry and laughed, "Don't worry, its very old and not anyone I know."
Oh that just makes it so much better.
Reed tugged on your sleeve, "I'm not so sure about this (Y/n)."
You patted his head and went back to watching the woman set everything up. Lastly, she pulled out the book and turned to the page.
"(Y/n), dear, do you trust me?" She asked as she grabbed your hand.
"...Yes?" You answered tentatively as she brought you over to the paper on the ground.
"Hold your finger out like this." She said as she pulled your finger out and hovered it over the paper. Within a second she pulled out a small knife and ran it along the pad of your finger.
A small stinging sensation from the cut made you wince and you watched as the blood started to pool there. Miss Metorm turned your finger slightly and a few drops fell onto the paper. She did the same to herself.
"Now, we're good to start I think." She looked around and her eyes landed on something to my left, "Micah, could you stand in the center please?"
You couldn't tell if he obeyed her but she took her place in front of the skull.
"Reed, darling, stand beside the water and (Y/n), stand beside the paper."
The two of you went to your respective positions and looked at her expectantly.
"Alright, let me explain a few things. During this ritual, things may become weird, but you cannot leave your spot. In addition, a greater being might intervene and bring you somewhere else spiritually. Do not let them fool you. Remember what you want. Do you understand?"
You both nodded.
"Alright, let's begin."
You watched she cleared her throat and began reading from the book in a language you'd never heard of before. It was both complicated yet simple and fell off her tongue effortlessly. Within a few seconds, the wind seemed to pick up and swirl around the three of you. You looked at Reed and saw the fear in his eyes. You could only offer him a reassuring smile.
"Come forth, O' Guide of Spirits." She said before she went back to the different language.
A large gust of wind blew through the circle and you could tell that there was more happening than what you could see. Miss Metorm seemed to be in a trance-like state at this point and was only going through actions that were necessary. Slowly, you started shaking and you looked at Reed who was looking at you with worry.
"Are you cold too?" You asked Reed and he shook his head.
Your teeth started to chatter as you rubbed your hands against your arms in an attempt to warm up.
"-n)...(Y/n)?" A faint voice echoed around you and if you squinted you could almost see someone standing in the circle.
"Ah, ah, ah. He's not your destination yet." Another voice said and suddenly, you felt as if you'd been yanked from reality.
You blinked and the world turned into a dark red abyss. Grey clouds of fog swirled around the floor and you spun in every direction trying to figure out where you were.
"Over here, child." The voice echoed and you turned around to see two figures in the distance.
Hesitantly, you made your way over until you could see them. You froze and backed up slightly.
"Do not be alarmed, I just take the form of the thing you fear the most. Although, there's two things you fear, aren't there?" A familiar voice said.
Your (e/c) eyes met a pair of green and blue ones and you trembled slightly.
"Well, aren't there?" Connor's voice said.
"Y-You're not real?" You stuttered, taking another step back.
"Only as real as human emotions." Aiden's voice responded responded, "Now, what is it that you wish for most."
You stood up a little straighter, "I wish to see Micah again. Micah Odell."
"Ah, that man. A stubborn spirit who refused to leave this world. He claimed he still had things to do, even in spirit form."
You watched warily as the two twins came closer, "What do you want with that man?"
"I want him to be alive, to live on Earth again." You said, trying to keep your voice steady.
The two twins laugh echoed around the abyss, "That's a hard thing to make happen, what are you willing to trade me for it?"
"Trade?" You echoed, confused.
"Yes. This doesn't happen for free. What are you willing to offer me?" Two devilish smiles glinted at you.
"What do you want?" You asked, trembling.
"Oh many things. Money, power, years of lives, anything works."
"Who are you?" You asked, realizing you had no clue who this was.
"Some people call me the guide of spirits, others have less pleasant names for me. Now, what's your offer?"
You stared at the ground contemplating, "Is there really a toll? Or are you fooling me?"
"There is most definitely a toll. Micah Odell can be yours again, but there's a price, dear."
You looked up at him, "Half of the years of my life."
Both pairs of eyes widened, "Half!?"
"Yes. Half." You stated, your gaze unwavering.
"You do realize that you may only have two years left to live."
"Anything to see him again." You said, your lip trembling slightly.
The twins were silent. The lack of sound in the abyss unnerved you and made you antsy.
"Very well. You pass. What a stupidly selfless person you are (Y/n) (L/n)."
"What do you mean?" You asked.
"It's a test. Why you really want to bring someone back from the dead is something I do not know." The two figures molded into a shadow, one that constantly moved and changed shape. "Through your answers I can determine who has the right and wrong motives. You, dear, seem to have the right one."
Relief flooded through your system as you fell to your knees, "S-So Micah...?"
"I give him permission, but he has to do the other half himself." The shadow said.
"Oh thank you!"
"Be careful (Y/n) and I look forward to seeing you again one day." The voice said as the abyss started melting around you.
You opened your eyes and heard someone calling your name.
"(Y/n)!" Reed yelled, looking at you worriedly.
You realized you had fallen to the ground and slowly stood up, "I'm fine!"
"You passed the test." The woman muttered, staring at the center of the circle.
"I did."
"Good, this will be much better then."
Miss Metorm started reciting in the language faster and more hurried than before. The wind became stronger and stronger, blowing leaves up all around you.
"Redi!" She yelled and looked at the circle, "Redi!"
You watched, as a small ball of light formed in the middle and slowly expanded.
"Redi!"
The light grew and became more vibrant until it took up all your vision and forced you to look away. The wind howled beside your ears and you winced, feeling the tension intensify with each second.
The woman was yelling something but you could no longer hear it. You covered your ears and resigned to waiting everything out.
Eventually there was a blinding flash of light and then everything died down. Slowly, you let your hands drop beside you and you opened your eyes. The clearing was a mess. Leaves were everywhere and branches had been knocked off trees. Reed sat on the ground, breathing heavily and Miss Metorm looked over the situation, breathing heavily as well.
Something new had been added though. A figure laid in the center of the circle, breathing faintly.
Tears came to your eyes as you ran towards them and dropped down beside them. Your hands shook as they hovered over their face. You lightly traced their jawline and let out a small sob.
"Micah...?"
His eyes slowly opened and widened. He blinked a few times and glanced over at you.
"(Y...N)?" He asked faintly.
You nodded, "It's me."
"You can see me?" He asked.
Another nod.
"I'm...back...?"
"Micah!" Another voice cried and Reed came barreling down beside you, tears already streaming down his face.
"Reed..." Micah trailed off, slowly sitting up.
"You're back! I can see you...I can...I can..." He sobbed as he fell into Micah and hugged him.
Micah winced slightly, but returned the embrace. After pulling away, he slowly looked down at his hands. He gently rubbed them through the grass and felt his own face.
"I can feel everything..." He trailed off.
You nodded, a tear rolling down your cheek.
He reached out and brushed it away, "I can feel you, Angel."
You slowly stood up and reached a hand out. He hesitantly took it and stood up shakily. You supported him until he found his balance. He looked at the sky and the trees for a second before back at you.
"(Y/n)...I..." He looked at you, an unknown emotion in his eyes.
"What?" You asked.
He wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you into him. He pressed his lips against yours hurriedly, as if you'd disappear in a second. Your eyes widened before they shut blissfully and you rested your hands against his chest.
"I missed you." He murmured, resting his head against yours.
"I missed you too." You said, smiling.
You pulled away from him and gave Reed a smile before pulling him towards you and hugging him. Micah joined in and eventually you were all just one big emotional mess.
"We have so much to do." You muttered, "We can start a new life."
"I would like that very much." Micah said as he gave you a warm smile.
Reed nodded in confirmation.
You pulled away from both of them and went to go look at Miss Mortem, but she wasn't there. Only her clothes sat on the ground. You walked over and bent down. A scarlet red card sat in the middle of the clothing.
Congratulations (Y/n). Micah Odell has been returned to you. Thank you for giving me a day in the mortal world to remember. I look forward to guiding your spirit one day.
~D
You let the paper fall to the ground, trembling slightly. The woman was...She wasn't....She hadn't existed. You turned back to Reed and Micah and walked over, attempting to smile once again.
"Let's go home." Micah said, heading towards the house. Rede followed after him.
You lingered there, watching them walk towards the light of the house. They almost glowed.
You shook the thought off before you ran after them.
He was back. Micah was back.
I hope you guys have a Happy Halloween! ~Aria
