[ You guyyyyysss Ahhhhh I love you <3 I was really worried about publishing the last chapter haha. I thought 'oof, I'm gonna sound like an ass' when I pressed publish. I also expected lots of y'all to be disappointed in me for a) the direction I wanted to take the story and b) the lack of romance between [Y/n] and the boys. However y'all proved me wrong by being the lovely people that keeps this book going <33 Also~ people keep calling me 'author' and it's really scary, like isn't that reserved for people who are actually good at writing haha?? Just call me Socks xD ]
A cold, wet flannel against her face, [Y/n] shut her eyes and hung her head over the basin in her en-suite bathroom. She removed the flannel and blinked water out of her eyes, staring at herself in the mirror. Her eyes had dark rings under them despite the amount of sleep she'd been getting. Maybe it was the effects from her blood being drained too many times? She didn't know.
She rung out the flannel and placed it over the side of the bath to dry, wiping her face with a dry towel before pulling a shower robe over herself. Her hair was wet from the shower she'd just had and beads of water dripped from her hair and skin to the fragile marble floor below her feet. Tip. Tap. Tip. Tap.
Sighing, the [h/c] haired female placed her left hand against the three bite marks on her neck, softly brushing her fingers over each in turn. 'This is my life now,' she thought to herself, her ears ringing. It was as though it'd taken these two weeks to really understand what was happening. 'This is how I'll spend the rest of my days.'
[Y/n] moved her left hand to her face, her index finger touching the spot where the bridge of her nose and corner of her eye connect. 'I'll never see my parents again.'
The pressure in which her finger touched her face increased slightly. 'I'll never see my friends again.'
"Why do I feel..." she whispered quietly to herself, staring into the mirror as she lowered her left hand from her face and placed it against the cold ceramic basin, "why do I feel as though... as though something is about to go horribly wrong?"
Someone sane might argue that something already had gone horribly wrong. She had been kidnapped and held hostage, assaulted several times. Yet, to [Y/n], this didn't seem a problem. Now that she thought about it, it was pretty messed up that she hadn't seemed to bat an eyelash at being kidnapped. All she'd thought about was that she was going to survive.
"How narcissistic of me," she mumbled to herself.
"Are you alright in there, [Y/n]?" a voice calls from the other side of the bathroom door. [Y/n] subconsciously pulled the robe closer to her skin and nodded. She hadn't realised her error until a chuckle sounded. "You just nodded, didn't you?" he said softly.
"U-uh... yeah," [Y/n] said quietly. The handle pushed down, the door opening slowly so that [Y/n] would have the chance to warn him not to go in if she wasn't decent. Once the door was fully open, she was faced with a tall brunette with a slight blush on his pale face. [Y/n] stared blankly back at him.
"Oh— uh, I can leave if you want?" Nyais smiled nervously, trying his hardest to keep his eyes on her face and not on the gaps the shower robe left. [Y/n] shrugged.
"I don't care," she sighed. This caused Nyais' brow to furrow as he walked over to her in concern, his hand gently cupping her cheek. He bent his knees slightly to be face to face with her.
"Hey, hey... what's up sweetheart?" he asked, his eyes riddled with worry.
"You called me sweetheart when we first met," [Y/n] said quietly. "It sounded different when you said it just now." She stared past him somewhere, her eyes narrowing. "I shouldn't be here... I'm not supposed to be here. I'm supposed to be at home- n-no, I-it's a Monday, I should be on my way to school. I... I need to go now, Nyais... I have to see Sally and Tara," she whispered. She placed a hand to her right ear. "It's okay, though... I-if they never see me again, I mean. It's... it's not like they actually liked me. I was a coward to them... I wasn't cool to hang out with. I was... I was the weird one..."
"Do you hate me, [Y/n]?" Nyais asked quietly. The question broke [Y/n] out of her trance, her [e/c] eyes widening as she watched the brunette male. His previously concerned eyes now held something else in them. Regret, maybe? Or anger? "Do you hate what I've done? The position I've put you in? Do you hate me for who I am? What I am?"
[Y/n] was silent for a while. A silence that she could see broke Nyais in half.
"No. I don't hate you."
"I hate what I've become."
Nyais placed a hand on the back of his neck. "I remember Leya once said the same thing to me," he said softly. [Y/n] stared at him with a confused expression. "My late wife. Before she died, she began to have... episodes. Alike to the one you're having right now. She'd tell me how much she hated herself for what she'd done, how much she hated who she'd become."
"O-oh... I- I'm—"
"Don't apologise," Nyais cut [Y/n] off. "Just come here. I'll make it go away." He held out his hand for the confused female to take which, hesitantly, she did so. He pulled her closer to him. Wrapping his arms around her, a small word made the young girl lose her sense of time, place and being entirely. It lulled her to its will effortlessly.
"Sleep."

Tip. Tap. Tip. Tap.
[Y/n] grabbed a towelette and wrapped it around her hair before unlocking the bathroom door and walking back into her bedroom. She looked up at the clock with a slightly nervous smile. "Gosh, I slept in!" she laughed to herself: it was 11:27am. A strange ringing sensation echoed in her ears, not dissimilar to one you'd experience in a moment of deja vu. She brushed it off and walked over to her dressing table, sitting down and grabbing her hairbrush. A small knock sounded at her door.
"Who is it?" she called, continuing to brush her hair.
"Me," a voice returned. Even though [Y/n] could identify it as Draka's voice, a playful smile crossed her countenance.
"Oh, hi Me! I don't know you so you can't come in, but thanks for visiting!" she giggled, continuing to brush her hair. A frustrated (yet slightly amused) groan sounded from the other side of the door.
"I'm coming in," he stated, a small laugh escaping him as he pushed the door open. [Y/n] pulled the robe a little closer to herself. It wasn't exactly the most modest of things she'd ever worn. Draka didn't seem to notice, though. "Nyais was here earlier," he began with a small smile, "he asked me to check on you when I thought you were awake. I heard the shower shut off so I assumed it was you." [Y/n] turned around and smiled at him.
"Check on me? That's strange, haha," [Y/n] laughed, though - if only for a moment - the ringing seemed to get louder as she attempted to recall a reason Nyais would want to see her. She came to nothing, sadly.
"Apparently you had a nightmare this morning? I'm not sure," he trailed off.
"A nightmare?" [Y/n] echoed. She supposed it made sense - she'd been having those weird dreams about the horse and... well, whatever those other things were. A nightmare didn't exactly sound outlandish. "I suppose I must've forgotten..." she hummed thoughtfully.
"Well that's good then," Draka smiled, "nightmares sound... pretty scary," he said, his head tilting slightly. "I've never had one. I only have those... uh... educational dreams. They're pretty boring really," he huffed. [Y/n] chuckled slightly at this. "A-anyway! I've got to go because Laion made me promise to help him with these plants... he called them... uhh... popplies? We're doing something with their seeds. I'm not really sure but he said it'd be fun!" he grinned.
"Just don't eat them," [Y/n] laughed with a slightly nervous expression, "you'll get sick if you eat poppy seeds."
"Oooh, poppies, yeah. Laion warned me about something like that. It can even hurt vampires?" he frowned. Of course, [Y/n] didn't know the answer for sure, but she wasn't about to try her luck and say 'no, you should be fine, you'll probably just feel a bit sleepy for a while'. She nodded in response to his question.
"Be safe!" [Y/n] called as the brunette darted over to the door, boisterous as ever. He gave her a thumbs up and a massive grin, before shutting the door behind him. She heard his heavy footsteps running down the corridor and stopping in front of Laion's door, followed by an eager knock. [Y/n] laughed again, standing up and wondering what she should do.

[Y/n] wandered down the corridors, realising there was still one room she hadn't been in. She made her way to the far right corner of the house, stopping before raising her hand to knock on a certain door; one which adorned the nameplate 'Seishin'. The boy opened the door with a bored expression and [Y/n] had to double take when she realised that he was now taller than her. He raised a brow.
"What?" he frowned. [Y/n] rubbed the back of her neck. "Is there something on my face?"
"Sorry! It's just... you're taller than me," she observed, finding it odd looking up at him. He leaned against the doorframe, sighing.
"No shit Sherlock," he huffed. "Are you just planning on standing there?" he asked, his expression clearly slightly bored. [Y/n] slowly shook her head and opened her mouth to speak, but her words came to nothing as Seishin stood out of her way to allow her to go into his room if she wanted to. [Y/n] hesitated before taking a few steps inside.
The room was tidy - almost eerily so - and minimalistic. Much to [Y/n]'s surprise, there wasn't a bookshelf in sight. She came to wonder where all the boys were getting their books from, if not from the living room. A white metal frame double bed sat in the corner of the room, a single white beside table sitting beside it. There was a single light built into the ceiling in a spherical shape - the light in the room was neither warm nor cold, simply there. There was a white chest of drawers and a white painted door of a walk in wardrobe.
"You look surprised," Seishin observed.
"Where are all the books?" [Y/n] responded, her brow furrowing. Seishin allowed a laugh to escape him, shaking his head. He beckoned her over to the walk in wardrobe, pushing open the door. The thing was the size of [Y/n]'s en-suite bathroom. It was basically a mini library. "W-wait, if you're putting all your books in here then what are you doing with your clothes?" she asked, confused.
"Kori's letting me hang up shirts and stuff in his wardrobe. Everything else goes in there," he explained, pointing to the chest of drawers. [Y/n] let out an 'ohh' noise to signify her realisation.
"Hey... uh," he began awkwardly, "I'm sorry about how I was acting yesterday," he forced out. This caught [Y/n] off guard and she stared at Seishin with a slightly wide-eyed expression. "H-hey, don't look so astonished... it's just an apology," he mumbled.
"Thank you, Seishin," [Y/n] smiled. The blonde male stared at her for a while. A small hint of red rose to his cheeks but he quickly pushed it away, grabbing a few books from the wardrobe.
"Yeah, sure... um, while you're here you should take a book to read," he muttered, "you stopped reading when you finished Animal Farm," he huffed. [Y/n] paused before nodding. Seishin (not overly gently) shoved the books he'd picked up into her arms. "These should give you a better understanding of vampire society," he said shortly. [Y/n] smiled up at him brightly, though was lost on how to respond to his kind actions since she really wasn't used to them.
"Thank you very much, Seishin," she decided was the best response she could give. He hesitantly nodded, awkwardly staring somewhere past her. She made her way to the door and shut it behind her, walking down the corridor. She stopped at the living room, stepping inside. To her surprise it was totally empty. She walked over to the sofa and sat down, sinking into it. Placing the books beside her, she paused and thought for a moment. Both Draka and Seishin seemed very different, and it wasn't just appearance.
Seishin had seemed oddly sentimental. It looked as though he was deeply regretting his actions from the day before despite that not being a thing [Y/n] thought he was capable of. As for Draka, his boisterous nature hadn't changed, but he'd begun to become more aware of feelings and emotions around him.
[Y/n] returned her attention to the books, picking up the one on top. The book didn't have a name, only an author: 'Rayne'. There wasn't a surname - [Y/n] wondered whether actual vampires even had surnames. She'd never heard one for Nyais or the boys. She opened the book and read the first page, noticing it was handwritten in a rather scrawly handwriting - it looked like the handwriting of a doctor.
A Guide to Eternal Happiness Dr Rayne
Well she supposed that answered her hunch of the guy being a doctor.
As an eternal being, your first priority is comfort. For all of us within the kingdom, comfort is served on a silver platter no matter your rank; comfort is a priority but not a worry. The second priority is happiness. But how does one achieve happiness when the word becomes meaningless? Well I, personally, am a very happy man. I've done wrong things - morally bad things - but I've taken on a different outlook that has helped me to realise that doing the wrong things is forgivable if you have fun when doing it. Though that is a point I will elaborate on later.
The first step to eternal happiness is a hobby or a job you find fun. It needs to be something that fits into a schedule or routine - something not too challenging - but also something changeable so it doesn't become repetitive. Learning to paint, for example. You can paint whatever you want however you want and you'll only ever get better. Or, perhaps, learning to write. Write whatever you want - it doesn't matter whether people read it or not. If you put in the effort, the harvest is your own.
The second step to eternal happiness is a partner. Many people disagree on this as having a partner leads to having children and subsequently killing your partner, however I think this is ridiculous. Have a pure, innocent relationship. An interdependent relationship. Have a
[Y/n] stopped reading mid sentence when a familiar brunette walked into the room. A smile appeared on her face. "Good afternoon Nyais," she grinned, "apparently I had a nightmare earlier?" she said softly. He paused before nodding.
"Yes, you did. I won't tell you what it was about in case it repeats," he said, walking over to her and sitting next to her. He looked at the books beside her and then to the one she had in her hands. His eyes narrowed slightly. "What are you reading?"
"Oh, Seishin gave me some books," [Y/n] explained with a smile. "This one doesn't have a name..." she tailed off, closing the book so he could see the front cover. She wasn't expecting the response he gave, however. His hand immediately reached out and took the book from her, his eyes dark. [Y/n] was about to ask what he was doing but he beat her to it.
"You mustn't read books by that author," he said lowly, going though the other books to check that they were all free of the name 'Rayne', which they were. "The other books are fine. This one's just... Rayne isn't a good man." There seemed to be a slight bit of fear in Nyais' expression as he stared at her. She hesitated before nodding.
"Alright... I'll keep an eye out, then." He nodded and replaced his worryingly serious expression with a softer one, tucking a strand of [Y/n]'s hair behind her ear.
"Why don't you and I go and make some lunch?" he asked, tilting his head. [Y/n] nodded with a smile, brushing off the book incident, not wanting to worry about it too much. Even still, something in the back of her mind reminded her that something was wrong. Something was amiss. Something was coming.
Alrighty- so, I'm still not over the flu (this is my 9th day) and I'm wondering if I should be contacting the doctors to make sure it's definitely the flu and not something else ^^; When I get better I'm gonna be back at school which will mean less updates (I chose some really hard subjects and I've got exams this year) so I apologise in advance. But~ I've just started another book (Last Chance) which is a yandere criminal x reader. The chapters will be shorter than this one and it's only going to have around 30 chapters. Essentially it's gonna be a fun little novella for me to write when I have time but not the right amount of time to write a chapter for Youth. So yeah, if you're interested in more of my bad writing then check it out haha xD
Next Chapter: Day Fifteen and At Least They're Not Playing Fortnite (my favourite chapter name in the whole book heheh)
