Derek POV

You were applying pressure to NATOs wound while Patch was fidgeting through his med bag.

Derek: Patch hurry it up, its not stopping!

Patch: I'm trying! Where the fuck is it!

Derek: Patch we need that gauze!

Patch: Found it, keep applying pressure.

He quickly came over and started to apply the gauze onto the wound. However the wound didn't stop bleeding.

Patch: Shit!

Derek: NATO stay with me.

NATO: It was good to serve under you sir.

Derek: Come on NATO don't say that, we're getting you out of here with us alive.

NATO: I've never felt so cold, I can already see her now.

Derek: NATO, don't you dare die on me.

NATO: She's calling my name.

Derek: NATO!

His body went limp as you began to feel distressed.

Derek: NATO? Wake up, NATO!

Derek: *quickly jerking up* AHH!

You looked around the room while you felt yourself sweating.

Quebec, Canada

You heard footsteps quickly moving towards your room and saw Mickey open the door.

Mickey: Whats going on? What happened?

Derek: Just a bad dream.

Mickey: About what?

Derek: Mark was shot, and the bleeding never stopped, so he ended up dying.

Mickey: It was just a dream.

Derek: I know it was, but it just felt so real.

Mickey: Maybe this is a sign?

Derek: Huh?

Mickey: To keep a sharp eye on Mark, you remember the environment?

Derek: It was in a locker room, I can't remember where though.

Mickey: Well then, if we're in a locker room, do remind us if this is the same place as your dream. If it's true, Mark's life will be at risk and that is what you can change.

Derek: I'll be sure to be on the lookout.

Mickey: Good, its 2 o'clock, try to get some more sleep.

Derek: I'll try.

Mickey: And Derek, it wouldn't be your fault.

He exited your room and closed the door as you laid back down on your bed.

Derek: I have to remember the locker room.

Timeskip 5 hours

Time: 7:24 AM

You woke up from your sleep and got out of bed. You walked out of your room and saw the rest of your squad watching TV on the couch.

Patch: Look who's finally up.

Derek: Yea yea, anyone get the girls up yet.

Demo: None of us want to die.

Bulldog: Yea, its like opening the gates to hell down the hall.

Derek: Oh quit being a bunch of panzies, I'll go take a shower and get them up.

You walked into the bathroom and turned on the shower. You took off your clothes and stepped in. After the shower you dried yourself off and put on your gear, excluding your balaclava and helmet. You walked out of the bathroom to still see them on the couch.

Derek: You know you boys can still get into gear.

Mickey: We still have a few hours to kill, theres a switch here so probably gonna play Zelda.

Bulldog: Or pokemon.

Derek: *putting on helmet and balaclava* Yea, I bet you would want to play pokemon John. Have fun with them Seamus.

Sledge: I will lad.

Derek: Dont count on it.

You started to walk out the front door, grabbing your HK and glock on the way out, as you heard the conversation through the door.

Bulldog: I like the caterpillar.

Demo: Caterpie is a piece of shit.

Bulldog: You don't know that like I do!

Demo: All he does is string shot!

Derek: This is the squad I hold my life to.

You walked down the hall until you reached the girls room. You knocked on the door and after a minute it opened.

Ela: Its early in the morning, what do you want.

Derek: Just making sure you guys are up. Also put some clothes on.

Ela: These are clothes.

Derek: Underwear isn't clothes.

Ela: Fine, have fun waking the rest up though, Tina and Monika are already up making tiktoks and the rest are hungover sleeping still.

Derek: I really couldve been on a better mission than this.

Ela: Yea its a bit disappointing.

You walked into the room and heard the oh no sound. You walked into the main room and saw the two standing there until they started laughing.

Derek: Whats so funny?

Frost: Oh nothing, we're just doing a live right now, with 5k people.

Derek: Ok well don't let it last long, we need to start going soon.

IQ: Relax would you? You never seem to know what that is sometimes.

Derek: Because last time I did, I lost 2 of my men. From now on I swore I wouldn't take a second to relax when on a mission.

Frost: But you still do it?

Derek: When there's nothing else to do and when I believe my men deserve it, but when we have to be ready, that's not a time for relaxing.

IQ: And now everyone is concerned about you.

Derek: I look relaxed because it's how I act to get my mind off of things, however I am still fully ready to take on anything that comes at me.

Frost: Yea, we really need to talk about that. You really haven't changed alot.

Derek: Havent changed in what way?

Frost: In the beginning when you were first recruited, Gustave gave you a psychological report. Stated that when he saw everything about you, even past the black ink, that whenever you were on the field. You were always waiting to die.

Derek: I'd be lying if I said I wasn't.

Frost: Huh? Why?

Derek: Everything I've gone through, all the losses and suffering. I always thought I wasn't cut out for it. That's why I put my squads life before mine.

Frost: So you're saying, that even someone you never knew, their life is more important than yours?

Derek: I am. Every person, could be in that live right now, could be a soldier, mother, father, or a child. If it meant they carried on and lived life to the fullest, I'd be willing to put my life in front of theirs, even if it meant I was going to die.

Frost: Well don't you know how to make your own life sad.

Derek: I aim to please, I'm gonna go wake everyone else up, make sure they're ready to leave in 30.

You walked over to the bedroom door and knocked on it.

Derek: Everybody up! Can't have y'all being tired!

Twitch: *behind door* 5 more minutes!

Derek: Nope, you always say that but it turns into 3 hours!

Twitch: *groans*

Derek: Get up or I can start talking about you and Mark's little "projects"

You heard a pair of light footsteps quickly getting to the door and it swung open.

Twitch: I'm up!

You smiled a little under your mask.

Derek: Good, have the rest be up and ready to go.

You walked past Tina and Monika and opened up their balcony door and closed it. You stood by the railing and looked into the city. You took off your cross necklace and held it in your hand and held it close to your chest.

Derek: I'm sorry guys, I didn't mean to always act like this. Seeing as you all are watching me from above now, that you're judging me on every choice I make. I don't know how I could honestly live with myself for how I've been acting. I'm sorry mom, for going from a nice child to becoming a person who only acts when they have a chance to die. Father, I did what you always wanted me to be, a soldier. To serve our country and fight for our freedom, but I'm sorry that I did it for the wrong reasons. Rose, I keep wishing to this day that you were the one to survive, I always blamed myself for not doing anything to help you. And look where you are now, you're dead because of me. Same for you guys aswell, Anna and George, you guys both put your faith in me and I broke it. I'm sorry I let you all down, I'll be with you all soon, whenever that time comes.
