Mute POV

News reporter: Recent reports in Miami have shown that the masks were triumphant in their defense against Rianbows taskforce and also the notorious group of mercenaries known as the Apex Predators. After a recent firefight that ensued at the Espresso Bar near Public Square. The two squads were both taken captive and from a recent statement, are planned to be publicly executed. Once the masks left the scene we were only told by a bystander hiding in their home tha-

Mute: Turn it off.

News reporter: And through a last ditch effort to put all of the force on himself, is said to be...

Mute: I said, turn. It. Off.

News reporter: Killed in action.

You gripped your mug and threw it at the T.V.

Mute: How many times do I have to tell you braindead cunts, TO TURN OF-

Ela: Derek?

You all turned to see Ela standing at the doorway staring at the broken T.V.

Ela: He's... dead?

Mute: Ela, don't believe the news.

She backed away from the entrance and ran off. You balled your fist irritated as you looked over at Dom holding the remote and lifted your finger up.

Mute: This is why, when I say turn it off. You turn it off.

You exited the room in search of Ela.

Mute: Theres no way in hell, he's dead.

Derek POV

You opened your eyes to find out you were surrounded by darkness. Feeling as if you were drifting through a void. That was until you heard the crackling of a fire. The flame lit up and you saw a figure sitting next to it, poking it with a stick.

Frank: Fancy seeing you hear.

Derek: Dad?

Frank: Yea, sit down, fires just getting started.

You walked over and sat down on a tree stump across from him.

Derek: What is this place?

Frank: Well after you took that shot directly in the chest, your body shut down as a means of keeping you alive. Your self conscious thought that this was the best idea to let your mind wake up in a comfortable environment.

Derek: So, like an afterlife?

Frank: Pretty much, yea.

Derek: So why here exactly. Why am I talking to you while sitting next to a fire?

Frank: Well, this fire represents your life.

He poked the logs as ashes flew from the fire.

Frank: The more I poke at it, the more it feeds, the stronger it gets. However if I don't move it around. It'll slowly diminish and be nothing more then a pile of ash. In reality, you should be dead. But this fire, your will as you might put it. Burned brighter then the fire around you.

Derek: What did Miller mean by "That one was for your father"

Frank: He served under my command back in '86. He was just a Lance Corporal at that time so he let his ranking get ahead of himself. Gave him psychotic ideas.

Derek: Psychotic in what way?

Frank: He thought the best way to beat the enemy. Was throwing everything we had at them. He wanted men to charge in blindly, use nuclear warfare as a means of showing power.... I called him a madman. He would only listen to his own credibility when missions were a success. However, he would always add a sprinkle of lies to make himself sound better.

Derek: So, back in Washington. All of those frontal assaults they all just meant nothing to him?

Frank: The only thing he cared about was getting the job done. He didn't care about those under his lead. You were just an extra pair of boots to him.

Derek: So what you're saying is that, all of my friends... all of my companions, risked their lives... for nothing!

Frank: Those who fell in Washington, deserved better lives. And they could've been saved had the operations been under a Lieutenant. He never did anything by the books. But let me ask you something. Why do you think back at Camp Dwyer, he only sent you and your small squad of squaddies to the East Barricade. No reinforcements, but it had the most opposition.

Derek: I... I don't know.

Frank: Derek, he wanted to kill you. It's why he told you to take the lead back in Washington, always sent you to the front lines. Made sure you were the driving force in every attack.

Derek: So Anna and Felix's lives... could've been different. But it was my fault.

Frank: Dont blame yourself for their loss. I'm the one to blame for it. I should've fought more cases to get him tested mentally and to be thrown out of the Marine Corps. Most of all I should've prepared you for the worst in the military.

Derek: I only joined to make you proud.

Frank: And you did just that. Derek, I've always been proud of you. But I'm more proud of you for how far you've come along.

Derek: Yea well, not like it means anything anymore. Because right now I'm unconscious, slowly dying. While my friends are left with no ammo, and nowhere else to go.

Frank: Thats where you're wrong.

Derek: Huh?

Frank: Dont give up now because your backs against the wall. You have Westbrook blood in you.

Derek: Well I mean it's currently soaking the ground so...

Frnak: Derek, focus.

Derek: Alright, I'm focusing.

Frank: Our ancestors were warriors, and not just any normal type, but the best of the best. You wanna know why?

Derek: This is starting to sound really familiar to one of John's Animes.

Frank: Because we have power, a trump card you might say.

Derek: Yup. This is really starting to sound like John's anime.

Frank sat and put his hands on your shoulders.

Frank: Right now you need to focus. Use your pent up anger and unleash your hidden fury, but the first thing you need to do, is WAKE UP!

Everything went dark as you heard muffled voices.

Person 1: Is he alive?

Person 2: Well he seems to be unresponsive, so just gonna take it he's not.

Person 1: Hm, the symbol on he shoulder, he's part of Rainbow.

Person 3: Not just that, but the taskforce... that's Colt.

Person 1: You can tell?

Person 3: Ofcourse I can tell, it literally says TF 052 and has his insignia.

Person 4: Guys I don't mean to be that guy, but we really shouldn't be outside right now. The public execution is about to take place and I'm not ready to be seen by those masks.

Person 2: Live alittle Jenni, besides. That's a tough ass way to go. I mean seriously, look at all the bodies surrounding him. Gotta be about 20 masks around his body alone, who knows how many he got before he had to get in close.

Person 1: Well, guess we can finally see what he looks like.

Person 3: Are you seriously about to unmask a dead guy?

Person 1: Why not, its not like we're hurting anyone.

You felt something touch the cracked visor of your face guard as you shot your eyes open. Only to see a bunch of young kids. The one reaching for your helmet shot back.

Person 1: Holy shit he's still alive!

You groaned as you struggled to get up. You took a step forward and winced in pain as you looked down at your chest. You covered the small hole in your chest with your hand and looked at it. After seeing your hand covered in your own blood you looked over at the group.

Derek: You something about a public execution. Where is it taking place.

Person 2: Uh... not too far from here it's at the center of Liberty Square.

Derek: Well then...

You gripped your HK tightly as you limped towards that area.

Person 1: Hey! What do you think you're doing?

You turned your head back to the group as you kept your cold temper.

Derek: Burying an old hatchet, now I advise that you go back inside and stay there.

You continued to slowly limp towards Liberty Square. The only thing coursing through your mind... was revenge.

Liberty Square

Patch POV

You were thrown to the ground as you saw everyone else go through the same treatment. When Loba was pushed to the ground she gave a slight groan of pain.

Patch: Hey take it easy on her Jack hole she's got a bullet in her hip.

The mask got up close to your face.

Mask: That just makes me want to do it harder.

You saw Talon talking to a group of mask Lieutenants then Demo decided to open his big mouth.

Demo: Hey asswipe! You must seem all tough right now since you've got us binded!

Talon walked over and knelt right in front of him.

Talon: Ah Robert. Always so headstrong and living in his own fantasy. You don't phase me even if you were unbinded.

Demo: Cut these ropes off snd I'll do what Colt couldn't.

He unholstered his Desert Eagle and pointed it at Robert's head.

Talon: And what's that exactly? Because when I pointed this at Colt, he had the same scared expression as you did.

He holstered his Desert Eagle and stood back up

Talon: Make no mistake, you're going to be joining him soon. But... why not have some fun. Pick her up.

He pointed to Anita and two masks walked over and grabbed her by the arms and lifted her up.

Talon: Your brother, Jackson you wanna know a real interesting story?

Bangalore: Who gave you the right to say his name.

Talon: Because I know who was responsible for his death.

She seemed to stop for a second

Bangalore: Im listening.

Patch: Oh you can't be serious, you're actually going to fucking listen to him? He shot your friend!

Talon: You would say that Franklin, although it's sad to know that even the medic. Is an emotionless killer. Take off her binds.

One of the masks cut off binds while Talon unholstered his desert eagle and handed her the gun with the grip facing her.

Talon: July 16th, 2017, Lance Corporal Jackson Williams, was executed by Private Franklin Castel.

Patch: He killed 4 of my friends before going AWOL, I wasn't taking him in alive.

Bangalore: You killed my brother?

You looked over to see Anita staring at you with the Desert Eagle in her grip.

Patch: I had no other choice. It was either his life or risk the lives of everyone else back at Camp.

She gripped the pistol tightly while still having hesitation. Talon walked over next to her and gave a little nudge.

Talon: He took away your closest sibling, get that revenge you've always been seeking to obtain.

She took a deep breath as she walked over and pointed the pistol at your head.

Wraith: Anita, what the hell are you doing!?!

Bangalore: I knew something was up with this group the second I laid eyes on then.

Patch: If I might cut in, maybe shooting your ally isn't the move to take.

Bangalore: Quiet you bastard. You took everything away from me. You took his life, I'll take yours.

You had enough of this and looked over at Mickey who was barely concious. He looked at you with his one tired eye as you nodded to him and looked back at Anita who pushed the muzzle into your facepiece.

Patch: Alright you wanna play that game? Well come on!?! Do it for your deceased and Savage brother!

She held the trigger as you noticed her start to squeeze slightly. You took a deep breath and closed your eyes waiting for the bang. The babg sounded quieter and when you opened your eyes you saw Anita holding her hand instead of the Desert Eagle. You turned to your left and saw Derek pointing his glock at Anita. He looked like he was barely able to stand.

Bangalore: You shot my hand you ass!

Derek: You were about to shoot my friend.

Bangalore: You know, this is the perfect opportunity because I want to know why you gave the order.

You stared at Derek waiting for a reply ut he only laughed.

Patch: Hey uh Derek, are you sane?

Derek: Ofcourse I am, but I don't know what's fucking funnier. You deciding to randomly shoot an ally over a feeble lie, or not shooting the man who gave the damn order.

Bangalore: What?

Derek: You wanna know who gave the order, Lt. Miller gave the order to not attempt in his capture but instead to kill him on sight to lessen the risk of no one else being hurt. And now looking back at it, he wanted more people to die.

Talon: Derek, shouldn't you be lying on the ground dead.

Derek: Could say the same to you.

Talon: Mine was an act.

Derek: Is that what you like calling it?

Talon: I have 9 guards with 50 more on standby and will be here in seconds by the mere press of a button. What makes you think you're walking out of here alive.

You looked over at Derek who toughened himself up to the point that he was standing tall even in pain.

Derek: Because you want me dead, but not from a regular mask. You gave up on trying to get me killed, so you want to do it yourself.

He lowered his glock and put it back in his holster.

Derek: And if I'm going down, you're going down to hell with me.

They stared at eachother until one of the masks started to raise his rifle at Derek but a shot rang out, Derek with his glock already drawn.

Wraith: So fast.

Another masks was getting ready to aim aswell as Derek aimed at him aswell.

Derek: If you wanna keep your Brain inside your head I'd drop your weapon.

The mask did as so as Derek holstered his glock and stared back at Talon.

Derek: No more tricks Miller. This ends here and now.

Talon: Brave words for a dying soul.

Derek: If I fall, then I fall. Can't change that. But I'm bringing you with me, one way or another.

Talon: I have the serum.

Derek: and I have a hunch.

Derek slowly started to walk forward towards Talon with Talon doing the same.

Talon: Basing this outcome on luck are you?

Derek: Guess so.

Derek looked up at Talon who was only a couple inches taller than him.

Talon: Remember it.

Talon threw a swing at Derek but he ducked under the punch and jabbed him in abdomen. Talon was unphased and grabbed Derek by the shoulders and slammed his knee into Derek's face mask. The mouth guard was cracked and was about to fall apart. Derek went in for another swing but his arm was caught and thrown into a nearby car.

Demo: Christ this is just hard to watch.

Mickey: *coughs* You idiot, he's stalling.

You looked back over at Derek and realized that he was always keeping an eye on the masks watching over you.

Patch: Mickeys right, he is stalling.

Mickey: Well, now we gotta think of something, because I'm not planning on letting him get pummeled because he has to keep watching us.

Patch: You can't do anything because you're on the verge of bleeding out Mick.

Mickey: Fuck if I care, I'd rather die bleeding out while fighting then living while watching my brother get slowly beat to death.

Mask: You two, quiet!

Mickey: Eat a dick.

The mask walked over and slammed his foot down on Mickeys shoulder.

Mickey: *Painful Laugh* You must feel tough don't ya.

Mask: Shut it before I put a bullet in your head.

Mickey: Thats the best part.

Mask: What do you mean?

Mickey: wolves never travel alone.

Mask: wha-

A shot rang out and the mask fell limp. More shots were heard as mask after mask fell confused. You looked over to where the shots were coming from and saw a woman.

Ashley: I leave for a week and this is the situation you guys are in?

Talon slammed Derek in the driver side door of a car and threw him towards Ashley's feet.

Talon: And if it isn't the other Westbrook.

You watched as She aimed her HK-416 at Talon while also kneeling next to Derek.

Ashley: I'd watch your mouth, you're not the one being held at gunpoint.

Derek: Ash, lower your weapon.

Aahley: What? Why, I have the bastard in the ropes.

Derek: *coughs* Ash, just do it.

She did as he said and lowered her HK.

Talon: Look at the bigger sis obeying her little brother.

Ashley: Choke on a bag o' dicks you disgruntled prick.

Talon: My my, what a mouth on you. Your dad wouldn't be proud of you right now.

Derek slowly got back up groaning in pain.

Derek POV

Dereks thought: Should've listened to him while I had the chance, I was buying time but damn that hurt like hell. Not to mention this chest wound is not helping. But my friends.

You looked over at your friends on the ground and mainly towards Mickey who wasn't doing well. You shifted your gaze back to Talon as you shook off the pain.

Derek: Ash, go help them and get them out of here.

Ashley: What about you?

Derek: Dont worry about me, I have unfinished business.

She retaliated at your statement.

Ashley: Bullshit, Derek look at you. You're in no condition to keep fighting, let me just shoot the bastard.

Derek: You're not the one who had deal with this ass for years. He killed my friends, my love and he's desecrating our fathers name. I am not letting a bullet from another ruin my satisfaction for making his death slow and painful.

Ashley: Fine.

She started to walk towards the group but stopped and looked at you.

Ashley: But for the record, if you live through this. You're not going to hear the end of it when we get back.

You smiled under your shattered face mask.

Derek: Fine by me.

You turned your mood back to serious as you stared down Talon with your fists ready.

Derek: Your move.

He started to rush towards you as you did the same. You both readied your fists with the momentum ready to clash.

Back at Hereford Base

Mute POV

You sat in the cafeteria drinking. Acup of tea after being introduced to Rainbows newest addition. But you were still clung on the subject of Derek being dead.

Thorne: So good to see you again Seamus.

Sledge: Ay same goes to you aswell.

Thorne: Kinda moody here don't you think.

Sledge: Yea, we have our taskforce on an op and it isn't going well, ones in critical and the other K.I.A.

You gripped your mug as you looked at them.

Mute: Presumed dead, but he's not.

Sledge: Mark, It's not likely that he su-

Mute: I don't care, he doesn't just give up that easily.

Sledge: A bullet directly going into his chest near his heart makes it unlikely for him to survive. He was unresponsive aswell.

Mute: Tell me something like that again and see what happens.

Kenzie: Mark.

You looked over at the recruits

Mute: Like I said take the rest of the day off, I'm not in the mood.

Kenzie: No, I mean turn on the news in here. There's shit you want to see.

You walked over to the large TV and turned on the news. It was still about the Miami Situation.

News reporter: The recent public execution that was supposed to take place in Miami today was foiled. And has also come to attention that Lt. Colt of Bravo Squad is alive but not well. From videos and surveillance so far of the situation, he is going toe to toe with who seems to be the leader of the black mask group.

It showed a video from in a nearby building of Derek and Talon throwing scrap when Derek was thrown into a car.

News Reporter: Some may wonder, why didn't they just shoot him while they had the chance. This could be a final fight of honor. However Colt is also known to want to take the enemy head on, this could be one circumstance, but we will never know. Most we can do is watch and hope that Lt. Colt overcomes his unfair odds in the attempt to liberate Miami.

The news cut back to live footage of the brawl with Derek breaking free from Talons grasp and getting distance from him.

Mute: Elena.

Mira: Yea?

Mute: Those suits have heartbeat detectors on them right?

Mira: Ofcourse, I installed them so we could know what condition they were in and if they were gonna need help or be given the order to retreat. Why?

Mute: Pull up Colts.

She grabbed her tablet from her table and tapped the screen a few times. You noticed her look up at the TV and quickly back down to her screen.

Mira: Thats not good at all.

Mute: What is it.

Mira: Colts heartbeat, instead of increasing as it should be, it's decreasing.

Frost: Wouldn't that be good? It means he's staying calm during this fight... right?

Mira: No, I mean the more he takes a hit and the more he overworks his body, the slower his heart rate gets. He's slowly dying.

You looked back at the TV and watched Derekas he prepared himself again.

Mute: Don't let your legacy end now Derek.

Kenzie: Derek?

Miami, Florida

Derek POV

You went to throw a punch but Talon caught your punch and swept you from under your feet and slammed you to the ground. He drew his fist back to throw a punch down but you rolled out of the way causing him to punch the ground. His fist left a small dent in the street. You unsheathed your knife on your shoulder pad and flipped it around for backhand. He started to walk towards you as you ran at him. You ducked under his ounce and slashed across his abdomen. You kicked his right knee forward, as he knelt down you raised your knife high and swung down. He grabbed your forearm and slowly got back up, applying more pressure to your arm. You winced in pain as you let go of your knife. He grabbed it with his off hand and dug it deep into your shoulder. He grabbed your helmet on both sides and slammed his mask into your face. The impact shattered the face guard as you fell to the ground.

Talon: You see those drones?

You weren't able to move but you saw one not far above the ground watching.

Talon: They are broadcasting this entire moment everywhere.

He kneeled down next to you and grabbed you by your vest.

Talon: You wanna know why I did it? Because you were happy. I killed her, because you were happy. Your father was onto my methods, so I had to silence him. That's right! I was the one who told the masks to go attack Millersburg, Ohio. I told them one head to take out, everyone else would be collateral damage.

Derek: You.... bastard!

You grabbed him by the color of his hood and slammed your head into his mask as hard as you could. He staggered backwards as he ripped off his mask.

Talon: Little pest.

You stood up and gave a painful laugh.

Derek: I think you... dropped something.

You raised your fist as you held a syringe in your hand. He looked down at his vest and realized that it was missing.

Derek: And you know what?

You took the syringe and pressed it into your arm.

You felt the rush immediately hit you as you threw the syringe away and reached for the knife in your shoulder. You pulled it out and tossed it to the ground.

Derek: The Westbrook drive is kicking in.

He ran at you full speed, as he drew close you side stepped and drove your fist in to the back of his head. He fell to the ground and slammed his fist against it before getting back up.

He threw another punch that you dodged and jabbed him in the hip. You kicked his leg out from under him and slammed both of your fists into his chest towards the ground.

You mounted on top of him and grabbed him by the collar of his hood with one hand, while punching him over and over with the other.

You drew back your fist for another punch but he caught it this time. He rolled you over to the ground so he was on top and punched you down. He stood back up as he reached towards his ear.

Talon: All squads engage at the Public Square, I want them all dead.

He started to run off as you got up. A bullet grazed your shoulder as you looked over and saw everyone else firing at the masks.

Demo: We'll handle the wounded and deal with these masks, finish the mission and kill that son of a bitch Derek! Don't let him get away again!

You nodded your head in approval and turned back towards where he ran off and chased after him. You chased him down street after street until you saw him enter a nearby building. You ran inside after him followed him up the stairwell. As you reached the 3rd floor he ran inside. You opened the door after him and noticed that the room was empty.

You walked around checking every corner until you looked out the window. The gunfire seized and all you thought about was whether or not they made it out alive. You heard footsteps creep up behind you as you turned around to have Miller punch you across the face. You both exchanged blows. One being stronger than the other. He gained distance from you as you never let down your guard.

Derek: I looked up to you... I trusted you!

He ignored your statement as he charged at you head on. You thought he was gonna come in for a swing but he grabbed you and threw you out the window with him.. He was holding on tight so you swung him around so he was on the bottom. Both of you landed on top of a truck as you rolled across the ground. You rolled over and slowly got back up. Wincing in pain after you looked down at your leg to see a thick shard of glass embedded into it. You got back up and looked over at Miller who was struggling to get up. He winced in pain as he clutched his leg that shattered from the impact. You endured the pain from the shard of glass in your thigh as you limped towards him gripping your Glock. The grip was stained in blood and you left small trails of blood that dripped off of the barrel. He stared at you and gave a pain filled laugh.

Talon: The emotionless Lt., how pathetic. You're emotions are as void as a machine.

You stopped in front of him and slowly aimed your pistol at his head.

Derek: Well then... we seem to be very similar, old friend.

You pulled the trigger and his body fell limp. You let your arm hang dead and let your pistol drop to the ground as you stared at his lifeless corpse still sharing no emotion.

Derek: Until we meet again in hell. Let those who fell under your name be your downfall, and your never ending punishment.

You turned away from his body and started to limp away. Your vision became blurry as you felt all of the pain you've endured start to catch up with you. Through the blur you saw a group of people running towards you. Their yells were muffled and it was hard to hear as your body gave out and you went crashing to the ground. Everything was dark after that.
