Derek POV
You strapped your chest piece into place and moved around in your new suit, moved your arms around, and also twisted your body. It felt odd, but it also felt comfortable.
Derek: I really don't know about you, but I have this odd feeling, but I also feel comfortable at the same time.
Mickey: You're not the only one, plus it's going to feel odd knowing that my night vision lenses don't flip up, I have to switch them on and off. Hopefully Elena could change that in the future.
NATO: She did say she'll be making more pieces, but she just wanted to get everything out because she had a feeling we'd be put in this situation.
Derek: What, about to make an advance on an abandoned facility containing a deadly virus with a platoon of the U.S. Army?
NATO: Well not exactly this situation, but she thought we'd be in an even shittier situation sooner or later. We most likely would've died if it weren't for the prototypes while liberating Miami.
Mickey: I wouldn't consider nearly dying, a victory.
Demo: Yea speaking of which, Derek.
Derek: Yo.
Demo: How did it feel nearly dying, I'm sure you got a good feel of God's left tit before you woke up.
Derek: For the record, I was in a coma. The only thing I saw was my father, and a group of dickheads trying to take off my helmet.
Ashley: A group of people tried to see your identity?
Derek: Yes, they have no respect to those bleeding out on the fucking road.
Demo: It was Miami, that shit happens atleast 3 times a day there.
Derek: Yea, yea. Just get everything sorted out and be ready to leave. I gotta go say goodbye.
NATO: I'll come with you aswell, I have to set something up for Matt anyway. The theater room would be perfect.
You left the living room and walked upstairs. You went down the hall until you reached the theater room. You creaked open the door and noticed they were awake, so you proceeded to open the door fully.
Derek: Getting ready to headout, thought I'd atleast say goodbye.
The two sisters came up and gave you a hug as Mark shrugged past the three of you and started to hook something up to the projector while also setting up a radio.
Derek: Mark, the hell are you doing?
NATO: Well, since Matt said he wanted to enlist when he came of age, might aswell let him in on our radio chatter and access to your helmet cam.
Derek: My helmet has a camera?
NaTO: All of ours do, however I feel like he should only focus on one, he's gotta see how a leader works through a leaders eyes.
Derek: Oh here we go again with the leader shit. I'm not too thrilled still with being in charge of a whole platoon of soldiers.
NATO: It was bound to happen again soon. They're gonna need someone like you out there.
He turned a dial and stood back up. He walked over to grab the remote and changed and changed the screen on the projector to your helmet that was laying on the table downstairs.
NATO: There we go, everything is all hooked up. Be sure to let Matt know about this yea?
Silvana: I'll let him know.
NATO: Good, anyways Derek we should really head out. The sooner we get this operation going, the sooner we can get that virus back into our hands.
Derek: Yea, lets just pray it runs smoothly.

Derek POV
You stood at the edge of the helicopter as you saw the facility in the distance. You held your finger up to the side of your helmet and turned on your comms.
Derek: This is Task Force Bravo 2-1, Operation Kingfish is a go. We get this virus back into our hands or we will see a global outbreak with millions dead. We can not risk failure.
you dropped your finger from the side of your helmet and turned to see a male soldier trying to comfort another female soldier.
Derek: She alright?
he looked up and gave a slight chuckle
Male Soldier: Uh yea, she's just a bit nervous since this is her first mission aside from drills back at base.
Derek: As long as you guys stick close and listen to orders, you'll come out just fine. Whats your names and ranks
Cole: Cole Maxwell, and this is Emily Willow. We're both privates.
Derek: Pleasure to meet the both of you, I'll do my best to make sure this operations runs as smoothly as possible.
You looked out through the field of trees and saw the facility get closer, the only thing that took you out of your trance was John singing in the comms.
Bulldog: They say that I'm on a roll. Maybe I just lost control. These nights keep on takin' tolls. Find me out here on my own.
Demo: Bulldog!
Bulldog: Yea?
Demo: Shut the fuck up.
Bulldog: Whats wrong with my singing?
Derek: Its God awful.
Mickey: I think my ears bleeding.
Patch: It's making me want to pierce my own eardrums with a needle.
NATO: You remind me of my ex girlfriend.
Mickey: Her voice was that bad?
NATO: Oh we're talking about Bulldogs voice? I just got reminded after looking at his fatass and remembered when she broke my Pelvis when she jumped on my-
Your helicopter shook as incoming fire came in
NATO: Dick!
Your comms went alive
Echo 5: This is Echo 5, we're experiencing heavy resistance, we need to land!
The helicopter flying next to you began to spin out of control after its rotor fell off from the incoming fire. The helicopter crashed to the ground and you turned on your comms.
Derek: All remaining helos land immediately, we need to get out the air. And for fuck sake can somebody check if anyone survived the crash!
Your helicopter landed and you jumped out. You regrouped with the other soldiers just outside the field of the facility. One last Humvee came up and with 4 wounded soldiers from the crash.
Derek: Report.
Kilo 4: Got 4 injured from the crash, both pilots K.I.A.
Derek: Damn.
You shifted your gaze back towards the facility as you saw a blazing light get closer.
Demo: Everybody down!
Everyone dropped when the rocket hit a humvee followed by gunfire. You stood up and grabbed your HK-416 from your back and aimed towards the field. You saw the white of a mask and fired 3 rounds and soon saw him drop. You ran up and hid behind a humvee as you recieved more fire.
Mickey: We can't stay here Colt, we've gotta think of something!
Derek: Its a bit stupid, but we need to burn the God damn field!
Mickey: That is the stupidest fucking idea I've ever heard, you're gonna end up burning down the trees!
Derek: Well we can't fucking see them so you gotta any ideas yourself!?!
Mickey: How the hell are we going to start a fire.
Derek: Simple, we just take a piece off that burning humvee and chuck the bitch in the field. Hopefully a fire will start after that.
Mickey: We're gonna base this off luck!?!
Patch: Yea no, lets not base this off a chance.
Derek: Well we need to get a foothold for the other soldiers, we have to make that dent.
You looked at your shoulder and chest piece before looking towards Mark who was behind a tree. You reached up to the side of your helmet and turned on your comms.
Derek: NATO, how much resistance can this gear give.
NATO: Elena only tested it with 9mm, who knows how well it'll hold against something like 5.56.
Derek: How well did it hold against the 9mm.
NATO: Good, she shot three 12 round mags into the chest, no dents just scratches.
Derek: Thats all I needed to hear.
NATO: Wait what? Lt. What're you planning.
Derek: Just on my mark, advance.
Robert cut into the conversation from across the field hiding behind a door lodged in the ground.
Demo: I don't mean to cut into the chatter, but how the hell are we supposed to advance when these limp dick snubs are ramming our asses.
Derek: By running and gunning Demo. Cut down the offense and do a full scale push with the remaining soldiers. Once we get close I'm going to need you to take out that MG nest on the second floor.
Demo: You know, I don't normally agree with said plans, but something tells me that I'm going to really enjoy blowing those bastards to smithereens.
Derek: You will, now let's give our boys a crutch to stand on.
Bulldog: Ooh-rah.
Derek: Mickey, Demo, we'll do the initial push, once we've snuffed them out. I want the rest of you starting the advance with everyone else, copy?
Mickey: Copy.
Derek: Alright, on my mark.
You grabbed the door of a humvee and unholstered your glock.
Derek: Now!
You ran out into the open field, feeling the bullets connect with the door with a few scratching your armor. You shot a mask down before kicking down another. You placed your foot on his chest and lifted the humvee door up and slammed it back down into his windpipe. You shot another mask dead with your glock before holstering it.
Derek: Mickey second floor, pick your targets.
Mickey: *on radio* Copy that.
Derek: Everybody else, push forward!
You took your HK-416 off your back and sprinted towards the main entrance. Bullets bounced off your armor as you sprinted towards the main entrance of the facility.
You reached the main entrance and gunned down two masks before driving your knee into another causing him to fall on the hard ground. You lifted him slightly by his vest and slammed your fist down into his mask. The back of his head smacked the ground and was unresponsive after that.
You looked to your left to aim at another mask, but he was slammed into the wall by John. He picked the mask up and slammed his knee into his back before Tossing him to the ground.
Bulldog: Its Woo Back Wednesday motherfucker!
Demo: You can't be serious right now.
Bulldog: The opportunity was there *He proceeded to bow his head with hands out* and I took it.
Derek: Alright everybody form up!
Everyone stood outside of the facility as you walked over to Corporal.
Derek: Cpl. Dune, I want whoever isn't injured to guard this front entrance. If anyone comes, don't let them in.
Dune: Yes sir.
Derek: Mickey, Bulldog. I want you two out here helping them defend this entrance.
Mickey: So long as you destroy that virus, I'm fine with sitting outside.
Derek: Rest of Bravo Squad, lets move!
The 4 of you moved into the facility, it was quiet, almost as if the only masks there, were outside. You approached an oddly placed door and looked around. There was a keypad on the wall not far from it.
Derek: NATO get this door.
Mark walked over to the door and stuck a chip in the key pad and looked at his tablet. He pressed the screen a couple times before retrieving the chip along with the door sliding open.
Demo: You gotta show me how to do that.
NATO: For what reason?
Demo: in case I lock myself out?
NATO: Dude, lockpicking is easy.
Demo: No, it is not. You gotta listen to all the ticks and shit and get it just right. That's not easy.
NATO: You'd be surprised with how good I am at Lockpicking.
Derek: Its true, watched him effortlessly slam a pick into a 5 pin padlock and it unlocked.
Demo: How the fuck?
Derek: Think about it while we walk, lets go.
You walked through the doorway and down the staircase. The stairs ended and you walked onto a catwalk in a fairly large room. You peered over the side as you watched masks in full hazmat suits place down crates full of viles with one mask loading a vile into an injection pistol.
NATO: So whats the plan.
Demo: Could just rain hell from above.
Derek: Can't, if we hit one of those boxes, hell even that gun, we still aren't certain how far the virus spreads or how lethal one vial is. We have to take this with caution.
Demo: Taking things with Caution is such bullshit.
NATO: I'd much rather be alive than figure out what a vial would do.
Demo: Says the one who looks like they're wearing a toaster on their head.
NATO: Yea, you act like I chose this helmet.
Demo: Thats because you did choose that helmet. You said you would've felt bad if you left that helmet for Derek. Plus it's the only one capable of holding communication equipment.
Derek: For the love of christ will you two shut up.
You scanned the area and noticed that there were boxes stacked up that obscured the view of those behind it
Derek: Alright, I gonna go down and move between those boxes. You three, stay up here and if shit goes south, try your best not to shoot anything that looks dangerous.
Patch: Copy.
You hurdled over the railing and silently dropped down behind the boxes. You heard a pair of footsteps and your comms went alive.
NATO: *on comms* Mask walking up on your right, nobodies looking.
The footsteps got closer, once they were close you enough you snatched the mask behind the boxes. You unsheathed the knife resting on your shoulder as you dug it into his throat through his hazmat suit. You took the blade out and placed it back into its sheath as you peered behind the boxes. A set of doors opened with two masks carrying a hostage towards the middle. They placed her down and while no one was looking, you proceeded to get closer. The one with the gun walked up to the hostage and ripped the tape off of her mouth.
Mask Scientist: Ready for your next test?
????: Go to hell.
Mask Scientist: Why act so tough for an unworthy cause. You not only help with remaking the deadliest virus mankind has ever seen, but our recent test has shown we can create bioweapons from it.
????: So then why, continue your sick tests.
Mask Scientist: Because I'm going to need to make sure this one is lethal, your specific blood type was immune to the virus, this should counter-act it.
NATO: *on comms* They're going to kill her Colt, just give the word and we can drop him.
You continued to watch as he fully loaded the pistol and began to walk closer to the girl
NATO: *On Comms* Colt for fuck sake, if you don't give the word I'll do it myself.
He gripped the side of her head to reveal her neck and placed the pistol up against it. Before he could press the trigger, you sprung out of cover while unsheathing your knife. You threw the knife at the Lead mask as it dug into his shoulder, causing him to let go of the pistol. You grabbed the pistol before it can hit the ground and shouldered the lead mask to the ground. You turned towards the catwalk where the three were.
Derek: NATO, catch!
You threw the pistol towards Mark and he caught it. While looking away a mask wrapped his arm around your neck that was exposed and tried to take off your helmet. Raising your elbow, you slammed it into the side of his abdomen causing him to let go. You turned towards him and drove your knee into his mask. The other mask close by aimed his rifle in your direction. You gripped the barrel and pushed it upwards causing the mask to shoot a few rounds into the ceiling. You gripped his throat with your left hand and gained control of the rifle. You tossed it to the ground and unholstered your glock and placing it right against his abdomen. You fired two rounds into his abdomen before letting go of the mask and letting him drop to the floor. The rest of the masks in the room were quickly dropped by your squad on the catwalk.
You turned towards the lead mask attempting to crawl away. You walked over and placed your foot on his back and noticed your squad was making their way down.
Derek: Demo, zip tie this bastard.
You took your foot off the mask and walked back over to the hostage. You knelt down so you could take off her restraints but she started squirming.
????: Fuck off! Get away from me.
Derek: Relax, we're on your side. NATO, is the place contaminated?
NATO: No, the air isn't contaminated. But it was still a good precaution to only have us come in.
Patch: Christ, they ran experiments on her? She looks no older than 17 at best.
Derek: Alright, look.
You reached underneath your helmet and took it off. You stared at the girl who started to ease up.
Derek: See? Nothing to worry about. Patch, check her for injuries.
You put your helmet back on and looked over at the mask who was zip tied and leaning against a wall with Robert standing next to him.
Derek: So, we can either get this over with here, or we can do this the more painful way back at base. Which do you prefer.
Lead Mask: Dont waste your time in trying to get answers out of me.
Derek: See now that's the problem.
You walked closer and knelt down in front of him
Derek: Because, I don't want you dead, for now atleast.
Lead Mask: For what reason, answers?
Derek: Oh no, answers are what we'd like, but now after finding out you did experiments on a 17 year old girl and turned her into a bioweapon. Let's just say I'm not very happy.
Lead Mask: You still aren't going to get anything out of me, that girl you look at is what future masks could be capable of.
Derek: You mean the vials that are now in our custody.
Lead Mask: *laughs* You really think we'd leave all of our experiments and formulas in one place? No, no, they are everywhere, and soon this whole world will bear witness to the power handed down to us.
Derek: Thats funny though, for being a smart guy, you're really fucking stupid.
Lead Mask: Oh really, why so certain.
Derek: Because the same group you're looking at silently hit every other minor point of interest before coming here. You really didn't think NATO had this all planned out?
Lead Mask: Impossible, we've been doing check ins daily.
NATO: Yea it's really fucking easy when you know the schedule and had each different Mask Lieutenant at each place read off the same line. It's crazy what they'd do if you hold a knife against their necks.
Derek: So therefore, that leaves only one thing left.
You drew your fist back and threw it forward. It connected with the masks face causing him to smack the back of his head against the wall, knocking him out.
Derek: So now that he's out cold, Patch report.
Patch: Her vitals are all normal, except for her blood. Due to her blood type she was immune to whatever original injection they gave her, however the one to test whether bioweapons was a possibility or not, worked.
Derek: How do you know this.
Patch: While you were having a chat with that mask Scientist, I took a small blood sample, it didn't hurt. Isn't that right?
????: I felt every ounce of that.
Patch: Ok, maybe it hurt.
Derek: Just cut to the chase.
He was holding Marks tablet and showed you the screen
Patch: Normally your blood cells would look circular. Sickle Cell Anemia, your blood cells would look like Sickles. Her blood cells are neither.
You took a look at the screen and noticed that her blood cells were spiked and tinted with orange.
Derek: Hers are spiked.
Patch: Yes, her blood cells have mutated. If we take a look at say a sample of the blood cells from a Roach. They almost appear similar.
Derek: Like she is a roach, but also isn't at the same time.
Patch: Thats what they meant by a bioweapon, she isn't fully infected, only partially. Her body just adapted to the virus. So in reality, she should be able to control it.
????: You're telling me I'm a monster?
Derek: Relax kid, you're not a monster. We'll figure this out once we get you back to base.
Patch: Have fun trying to smuggle her away from the government.
Derek: What do you mean?
Patch: Face it, if they find out they held a hostage ans turned her into a bio weapon, they're going to want to run tests. And granted we have an entire platoon of soldiers outside, it'll be difficult to get her out undetected.
Derek: If they have such an issue with it, I'll be sitting out on the porch with a cigarette in my mouth and a 12 Gauge loaded with 6 shells. First shell bird, second shell buck, third shell bird, then it's Jamaican after that.
NATO: You're going to have the 12 gauge loaded with bird shot?
Derek: Its the warning shot, then a small taste of a real shot, then another warning shot. The rest are if you still want to take an extra step.
Patch: That still doesn't explain how we'd get her back to base.
Derek: Call for an extraction, once the heli gets here you get her on and hide her underneath a blanket or something. We'd have our own heli since we'd be going back to Hereford. If we can get her on the heli before-hand, the trip home should be easy.
NATO: I'll... request an extraction.
You saw a weapons cache not too far and thought of something else.
Derek: You know what, I have a different approach.
Above Ground
Derek POV
Franklin opened the doors outside of the facility as you and Robert carried a fairly heavy weapons cache outside. You placed the crate down as the rest of your squad regrouped.
Derek: How was it up here.
Mickey: Bit of resistance, but nothing we couldn't handle.
Derek: And the men?
Mickey: We have a few injured, casualties though were low. That ambush was the main reasoning as to why we lost a few.
Derek: Alright, good work today. Start heading the heli. Bulldog, help Demo with this cache.
Your squad walked away as Cpl. Dune soon walled up to you.
Derek: Facility is cleared of any mask presence indoors, place isn't contaminated either but I would wait for a hazmat crew in order to extract the virus.
Cpl. Dune: Hazmat are already on the way, we'll handle everything else from here. Thank you for the support.
Derek: No need to thank me, you guys risked alot for millions.
Cpl. Dune: Take it easy on your trip back to Hereford, we'll be sure to contact you again if we need anything else.
Derek: Copy, Goodluck Cpl.
You started to head towards the chopper and sat down. Once the heli was in the air and heading towards hereford, you flicked the latches off the cache gave a slight tap.
Derek: Alright, we're in the air.
The lid flipped open and the girl sat up from the cache.
????: Christ it was uncomfortable and hot in there.
Derek: I bet it was, take a seat and get some rest, it's going to be a bit of trip back. Mark, contact Hereford aswell and tell them to prep a quarantine zone for her.
NATO: Roger that.
????: They aren't going to run tests on me, right?
Derek: I'll be close by to make sure no harmful tests are done. Only those needed to help cure you. Once we touch down back at base, we'll also contact your family so they know of your whereabouts. They must be worried.
Patch: That does out up the other question, how long have you been held hostage?
????: What day is today?
Patch: July 1st
????: I've been in their custody for well over a month, I was abducted shortly after the school year was over.
Patch: Christ, I couldn't imagine.
Derek: Whats important to note is that you're in safe hands, get some rest and I promise you nothing bad will happen. You'll be back in Ohio in no time.
Demo: Yea because Ohio is such a wonderful place to be in.
Derek: Knock it off jackass, I was born in Ohio you know.
Demo: Yea, you made it even worse.
Derek: Your face would be eating the ground if we weren't in a helicopter right now.
Demo: Yea thats why I'm saying it now, get with the system.
Derek: Whatever, I'm taking a nap.
Demo: Dream about God again but make sure you get a good suckle on those divine nipples.
You turned your head to Franklin who was seated next to you
Derek: Once we get off, I'm dislocating his shoulder, just a fair warning.
Patch: Thats not going to be my problem, he can pop it back into place himself.
You leaned your head back and closed your eyes, ignoring Robert's snarky words and quickly succumbed to sleep
