Florence
We stood there for what felt like an eternity, just staring at eachother. Eurus mentioned he might show up but I didn't expect to see him! He still had the same scowl on from the day I first saw him but he looked slightly uncomfortable.
His hair was gelled back which gave more room for my eyes to search his face. He was wearing a dark blue vest with a white deep-v shirt underneath. I instantly noticed he didn't have a tie. His chinos were light grey and hugged his cakes- calfs tightly.
"H-Hello," I greeted. He looked looked me up and down with a look similar to an animal assessing if I were a threat. "What are you doing here?" He asked, ignoring my attempt at a normal conversation. "I was invited here," I answered him almost instantly. He raised and brow and crossed his arms. "By who?"
I simply stared at him and oggled at his deep voice. "Uh- Eurus Meade?" I squeaked. His frown turned into a scowl and he turned away but didn't leave. He hunched over the railing and looked down the steep cliff that was below. "I can tell you are a good soul. Don't let him corrupt you." He grumbled. I felt my face heat up a bit at his statement. What did that mean?
"I won't," I gave. He stared at me out of the corner of his eye and the corners of his mouth twitched. "You won't." He sighed. I looked back at the crowd that threatened to spill out onto the balcony and then back at Remus. "Did you come with anyone?" I asked idly while leaning over the railing. I made sure to keep enough space between us just in case. He was silent for awhile and it allowed me to hear the faint howling of the wind. "Just guards." He answered.
I snuck a look at him and he did the same. "He invited you for a reason," He said as I quickly broke eye contact. "H-He did?" I stuttered. I was making a fool out of myself. "The reason is unclear but it'll certainly end with him gaining what he wanted and leaving you with nothing but questions."
The bitterness in his voice physically made me wince. He spoke with experience and it was blatantly obvious. There was another round of silence that lasted longer than the last until another voice broke the weird spell. "Would either of you gentlemen like a beverage?" A waiter spoke up, offering a tray of drinks. I smiled and thanked him, grabbing two.
"Do you drink?" I asked as I awkwardly stood there with two glasses full of wine. He nodded and a look of slightly shock tool over as he noticed the extra glass I had for him. "Do you?" He took the glass from my hand and took a sip. I was suddenly glad I had taken two. "I do, actually. Only rarely though," I laughed as a breif memory of Sally flashed by. Poor girl was puking for an hour after her first time tasting alcohol of any sorts. I suddenly tensed when I remembered I was with a warlord.
He actually had a small smile on. "What's so funny?" He asked. "O-Oh, nothing. Just remembering something," I brushed off as I took a sip. This was good. He cocked a brow and also took another sip. His eyes zeroed in on my glass like he was a challenge. I took another sip of my drink just to confirm my suspicions and- yes. He was definetely trying to initiate some challenge as he quickly took another sip. "Please, indulge me." He offered, stepping to the side and allowed me to lean next to him.
I began to tell my story of my first time drinking as we both took track of everytime either of us took a sip. I could feel him opening up a little and out of all of three of the warlords he seemed to be the most normal one. Normal in my sense.
"Then, she puked all over the bouncer!" I bit my lip as hard as I could but I couldn't stop myself from laughing. Our glasses were emptied at this point and I could feel myself starting to get light-headed. He was even laughing as we both struggled to breathe. I started coughing and heaving from the lack of air so I stuck out my hand for the railing to gain support when I missed completely. My heart gave a jump as everything began to tilt and then I was caught.
He grabbed my waist and yanked me away from the edge. I looked to his hand then at him and my heart gave another jump before we both staryed laughing again. "We need more drinks!" He cheered and his laughter ceased. "Want to go get some?" I asked, lightly placing my hands ontop of his that were still resting on my waist. He looked towards the doorway and frowned. "I don't like crowds." He grumbled.
I snickered then stepped away. "Fine I'll go get some!" I exclaimed, diving head first into sea of people. All of a sudden I didn't feel so closed in. It must've been the wine, since it felt more like an open field full of people dancing and laughing. By now most people were drunk so everything was carefree. I made my way over to a bar two rooms over and just grabbed a tray of drinks. No one minded, so I made my way back to Remus. A few people took a glass as I passed by but there was more than enough for the two of us.
Once I returned he took a glass and chugged the entire thing. I snorted, and grabbed one too, drinking the entirety of it. He rolled his eyes and wiped his mouth. "You're not going to give up," he noted. I smirked and took a quick drink of another glass. "Not until you're black out drunk!" I shouted.
We both had another laughing fit and then told more stories. He told some of war which went over my head but on the occasion he would mention his family. Sometimes he would talk about how isolated everyone was in his tribe and how anyone barely left their own homes. Then I would tell him a funny story about my early experiences with partying.
He interuppted me mid-story as he cleared his throat and grabbed another glass. I did the same and watched intently as he brought it to his lips but didn't drink. As he did I noticed black and silver bands around his fingers. There were so many on his fingers and similar bracelets. They were simple metal bands that looked tight and uncomfortable to wear.
"Hey, what are these-" I reached out to touch them but he ripped his hand away. "N-No! Don't touch them." He seethed. I pulled my hand away and looked down at my feet. Neither of us said anything for awhile, only the sounds of indoor partying filling in the void. Then suddenly..
"You know what- fuck this mountain!" He yelled out of nowhere and throwing his glass as far as he could. I watched it disappear out of view as he fell and fell with just the tiniest tinking sound from it's shattering. I was shocked, and them sudden giddiness took over. "Yeah! Fuck this mountain!" I cheered before throwing my glass. It was in way further than Remus' throw but I still threw it. He picked up another glass, taking a small sip then heaving it over. The wine spilled out of it as it spun in the air then vanished. I grabbed another and took a big gulp and repeated my actions. We were cheering as we drank then threw the glasses, cursing the hell out of this poor mountain.
He snatched the last one, drinking all of it then limply tossing it over. He looked down at me with dazed eyes and a wonky smile. "I.. win!" He hollered like we didn't have that awkward interaction.
Everything was a bit blurry but I could still see that triumphant look on his face and couldn't help but laugh. "Okay dude, you win." I brushed off with a smile. I stood back and tripped on thin air, falling flat on my ass. It wasn't too painful, just a bit shocking.
He looked around as if I just vanished then further down. "What're you doing down there?" He asked with a small hiccup. "What does it look like?" I asked, wiping my chin of any remaining wine. He stuck out his hand to help me to which I tried my best to grasp. He helped me up and we both began laughing out of nowhere again.
I grabbed the tray the drinks were set on and held it over my head. "Fuck this goddamn mountain and all the other stupid mountains!" I exclaimed into the open night air. "Yeah! Stupid fucking mountains! They're basically just the tiddies of the earth!" Remus added. I began dry-heaving from the amount of laughing I was subjected to. I felt like this could've gone on forever until we both got interrupted.
"Florence!" A familiar voice shouted. I looked over my shoulder and let the tray fall onto the ground with a loud clatter. Eurus had an expression somewhere between shocked and embarrassed. "Get away from him!" He seethed. I looked over at Remus who had sobered up enough to have that resting serious face. "Why?" I unknowingly challenged. "I can stand next to whoever I want to." I mumbled.
Through my daze I could tell the music had stopped and most of chatter had died down. "You don't want to be standing next to him of all people. Trust me." He gritted out. "Whhhy? You lost me and he found me!" I whined. His hands were clenched into fists and he was either pink from embarrassment or about to vomit fire everywhere. That's what dragons did right?
"I've been trying to find you for two hours! I sent your mother home so now it's time for us to leave!" He bit out before grabbing my wrist and dragging me into the party. "Bye, Re!" I waved at him and he lightly smiled. There were bright flashes that hurt my eyes it wasn't until I regained sight did I realize they were cameras. Why were they allowed inside? Cameras are so annoying.
He lead me through the crowd and we were about halfway through ehen my legs started hurting and I began to get tired. Eurus was rambling about something but all noise stopped entering my ears about ten minutes ago. We were in the hallway and people were parting to get out of our way. We made it outside and more cameras were there to my annoyance. I noticed Eurus' bodyguard people block their view as he quickly grabbed his phone and pressed it up against his ear.
The cameras were all near the queue with people still lining up to get in! That's ridiculous. I wouldn't just charged through and demanded to be let in. Yes, I would definitely do that. Passed the flashing lights and in the ling line of people I noticed two people. I squinted my eyes hard and could make out the faces of Liza and Josh! They stared at me with awestruck faces. Was I suddenly famous? I wanted to talk to my friends!
Eurus pulled me away again and was grumbling again. "The driver is too far, it's nearly midnight and the media are closing in! This is truly the worst party I've ever been to!" He grumbled. We stopped infront of a car and he yelled at his bodyguards to give him the key. There was a conversation between some of them and him but in the end we were getting in.
"Ow," I winced when he let go. He had a tight grip, and only now did I realize he kinda hurt. His angry face disappeared and he looked worried. "Sorry. I didn't mean to." He mumbled. I rubbed my eyes and nodded as he opened the car door. I gradually climbed in and he shut the door gently. I fumbled for the seatbelt then settled into the seat. I was suddenly so exhausted it was a struggle to keep my eyes open.
I was out like a light as soon as the engine started up.
Another long one <3
Thoughts on Remus? It seems like he's a keen drinker. And what are those rings of his?
