Florence
"You're a pig." Rian grumbled as I deepened my frown. "You're an asshole." I gritted out, my grip tightening around my knife. He didn't look angry, only slightly amused.
"Is this how you talk to all warlords?" He asked curiously with a goofy smile. I was ready to end this petty argument over the smile alone but this was serious. I had to stand my ground. "Your title doesn't mean shit when it comes to my pancakes!" I seethed as I watched him flick the crumbs off his plate.
For context, we had decided to order room service while we waited for Eurus to collect himself and both Remus and I ordered pancakes while Rian ordered a lame burger. Remus decided he was too full for his last pancake and gave it to me, however, Rian thought he was entitled to everything and ate it while I got a drink.
"These taste like crap anyway. I could make them better." He commented. His statement caught me off guard. "You cook?" I asked, my anger completely vanishing at the thought of him in an apron. He frowned and shot me a look as if I just cried treason. "Don't mention it again." He said lowly, effectively giving me his answer. This made my head explode and an excited squeal to escape me.
"What can you cook? Do you bake! Oh, oh, you have to cook me something, now!" I rushed out. My excited smile completely contradicted his deep frown as I jumped out of my seat and started shaking him by his shoulder. I started listing off the many foods and cuisines to him as I basically demanded he cooked for me. It was so out of character for him that I found it kinda cool and a little cute.
"Could you bake me a cake?" I asked with wide eyes. His eyes widened in pure surprise at my request. Then his walls came slamming down, his pretty hazel eyes going cold and distant. "I'm not a baker. Drop it." He grumbled. I felt my smile physically slip away as I let go of his bicep and carefully let them fall to my side.
"I-I mean- I'm not good at baking cakes.." he quickly recovered, although I could only smile. Clearly it was something he didn't like talking about. There was a single knock on the door catching both our attentions as we listened it. Due to people still demanding Eurus come out we set up a special 'secret code' so we knew it was someone trusted outside. There was two quick knocks and a long pause, then three more consecutive knocks. I skipped to the door and cracked it open just a tiny bit to reveal a blank-faced Remus.
Unlike Rian, Remus' face brightened almost instantly at the sight of me as he shuffled the handful of blankets and pillows to get a better look. "I brought supplies and rations." He said all too seriously. I couldn't help the stupid smile that enlightened my lips at his odd choice of words. "They're pillows and snacks, Remus."
A small dark blush tainted his cheeks. Although barely noticeable he still gave away his bashfulness by his small frown. I allowed him in and quickly shut the door.
We moved to a vacant room right next to Eurus' and decided it'd be best if we stayed close, just in case he had another breakdown. So far we had only planned for me to actually sleep in here but as the evening wore on it was starting to look more likely that we were all staying here. And, admittedly, I didn't mind that.
He placed them on the couch as I took my place back at the table with Rian who looked slightly bored. I was actually taken aback how they were dealing with the situation. There were no snarky comments, just small quips. They didn't talk much, not until I instigated a conversation between them. It wasn't ideal, but I couldn't expect much out of sworn enemies.
A long cue of silence followed as Remus settled down onto the couch. It wasn't tense or awkward, just us three listening in to the distant thunder. Once again, I got myself worked up over the incoming storm tonight. Especially in a hotel room, nice, cozy and with a view?
I honestly couldn't have asked for anything better.
"Rian," I started, my stomach seemingly not satiated with the pancakes. I didn't have to say anything more as I got up and picked up the hotel phone. He groaned and gently but repeatedly slammed his head into the table. "No, no. I already ordered two pancake meals and a massive ass burger. I am not ordering for you again!"
I gave my best puppy eyes as I tried conjuring a stomach grumble just to help with my plea. "Please?" I whined. "No! They must think I'm fat or something- just do it yourself!" He argued with a certain determination in his voice. I would have but, well, I was socially awkward. "I can't!"
He lifted his head away from the table and shot my a glare. "Why the fuck not?" He snarled. Although his words sounded harmful I've learnt that threats and a lot of swearing was common with him and room up at least ninety per cent of his vocabulary. "Because I work here! It would be sooo awkward if I called up and asked for food." I reasoned, momentarily hanging the phone up and clasping my hands together in a pleading motion. "Well, what about Remus-"
"No." Remus rumbled from his place on the couch. He had buried himself in the blankets and only had his black curls poking out.
"Why?!" Rian shrieked. It was funny watching him get mad over this. "Because I don't like talking to people. It's annoying." He gave, his voice muffled by the blankets. Rian let his head fall my way and showed off his deadpan look. "You're talking to us. Right. Now!"
I glanced over at the mountain of blankets and tried listening for a response, but all I heard was some incoherent mumbling and a shuffling of the linen.
"Rian, please!" I continued my pleading which was met with a flip of the middle finger. "Please! We won't order in again- I'll eat the mini chips and drink the small cans of coke!" I continued. "I won't ever mention the c-word! I-I could teach you how to build a pillow fort!"
His face contorted due to a weird mix of a frown and a curious look. I began more of my annoying asks, eventually breaking down his resolve more and more. Remus joined in, adding onto my ridiculous claims while he still lay buried underneath the blankets. In the end, he either was convinced from whatever bullshit we were vomiting it was fed up with our voices as he got up and reluctantly snatched the phone away from the wall.
He glared down at me while I beamed up at him, jumping up and down like the child I was. It rung for awhile until I heard a muffled voice come through. Rian listened in with his scowl deepening with every second that passed. "Yeah, I wanted to order the..." his voice trailed off as he looked towards me for answers.
I had to actually think about it. I didn't want pancakes again, or anything sweet for that matter. It was nearing seven o'clock, so something savoury and could pass as a meal. Or I could-
"You haven't decided yet!?" He whispered harshly as he covered the speaker with his hand. I scoffed, telling him to shut up with a simple finger of my lips. "Remus, did you want anything?" I asked, eliciting a loud groan from Rian.
The interlude of silence was a sign he was thinking, as well as his humming. While he thought of what he wanted I thought of mine and turned back. "Spaghetti!" I said quietly. My request was met with a cocked brow and a questioning gaze. Spaghetti was good. You could never go wrong with some pasta and sauce.
"Pancakes." Remus finally decided. I snickered while Rian begrudgingly filled in our requests, adding a salad for himself. I listened in closely as Rian hang up on the man mid sentence when he was done. He glared down at me although I never saw any resentment or actual hatred.
"Happy now?" He asked with a bite to his words. I smiled widely and his glare relaxed a little. "Yes, I am. Thanks." I hummed. His mouth opened to talk but not a single sound was made. I could tell he wanted to come up with some mean comment or even a full blown insult but it seemed her didn't have anything good in store. At least, not for now.
"A simple thank you would be nice, Remus." He said loudly, taking his eyes off mine and pinning them to the mass of white on the couch. Remus only hummed his reply, aggravating Rian further. "I hope you choke on your pancakes."
I gently slapped his bicep and gave him a warning glare. For some reason he seemed a little put-off by, scratching at his neck anxiously. We didn't say much more as he dragged himself over to the table and sat quietly.
I whisked myself over to the couch and sat down, careful not to tread of Remus who seemed content in drowning himself under all those blankets. "Thank you for the blankets and the food, but you do realise that's what hotel services are for, right?" I asked incredulously as I watched Remus quickly move the blankets away, his head peeking through. "It makes me feel better if I get them for you myself." He muttered. "Plus, Rian told me if I bury myself in something heavy It would make me feel like a bunny in it's burrow."
I rolled my eyes at his antics. Rian probably only told him that because of the lack of oxygen he would receive under there. "Yeah? And did he mention anything about not being able to breathe?" I asked sarcastically. I watched as his face lit up with the sudden realisation and his cheeks glow red from either embarrassment or anger. I heard Rian cackling across the room while Remus sunk further into the couch.
I grabbed the remote from in between the couch and watched some live TV for awhile, Remus simply listening in and Rian doing his own thing. It didn't take long for Remus to emerge out of his makeshift 'burrow' and sit up right next to me, the small brush of our shoulders sending a nice buzz throughout my entire frame.
"Uh, Florence," he started, twiddling his fingers together while he seemingly tried finding his words. "Were you planning on just staying here.. alone?" He asked curiously. I instantly knew where this conversation was going and my answer was already determined.
"Do you want to stay?" I asked quickly, not bothering to answer his question. In truth, it was intimidating staying by myself. The whole truth was that I really didn't want to spend this cozy night alone, doing nothing.
The small pause cause my nerves to coil up like a venomous snake but the small sigh of relief out me at ease. "I would like to. Please." He said quietly and just like that my nerves were gone and my heart warmed at his answer.
"If he's staying, then I'm staying too!" Rian called from the table, his cheeks slightly flushed. My head was buzzing with the thought of spending an entire evening with the both of them, and even more with the idea of the storm backing it up. No longer did it feel awkward when I was around them. It felt natural. I felt like I was more.. myself when I was with them. In public was another story- but here, between just the three of us I felt oddly comfortable.
My mind reeled with all the plans I had for tonight. I could teach them how to build pillow forts, have a pillow fight, watch a scary movie- all that cheesy shit! Things I hadn't done in so long and here I was, about to participate in the stupidest stuff with the most odd couple of men I'd ever met. "I guess that settles it." I said excitedly, standing up and glancing between the two of them.
"We're having a sleepover!"
Whew, a light hearted chapter just to ease the tension from the last. A sleepover with the babies! I'm honestly excited to write it because from here, it could literally go anywhere!
What do y'all think will happen between the three of them? And what about Eurus?
Thoughts are predictions are, like always, welcome!
