Remus
"You're late..." Midas sung as I frantically tried to find my gift for Florence.
I had decided that I'd surprise him with a small gesture of kindness for sticking around and not leaving me but after Midas told me people don't normally give thousands of dollars as presents on a first date, I needed to think of something else.
"I-I know! Just get in the car." I grumbled just as I stumbled across his gift. I picked it up from the countertop and quickly followed Midas outside of his massive mansion.
"I think right about now would be a good time to brave your fear over driving with someone else in the car, cousin." He sounded as he threw his car door open. I wasn't going to give him the time of day as I was way too nervous to even drive myself.
"You're no longer my cousin, Midas." I said in all seriousness. "You are my driver and your job is to get us there and keep your mouth shut."
He snickered but didn't say anything further and started the car. The soft thrum of the engine put me at ease a little but the minute we started driving my nerves starting eating away at me.
Did Florence even want to go on this date? What if he didn't like the place I chose! What if he thought it was cliche- or cheesy!
What if he was only doing this to make a mockery of me?
I wanted to slap myself for that one. It felt extremely wrong and horrible of me to think of Florence like that. He wasn't like most people. He was kind, and nice and super super sweet.
"Deep in thought? I'm assuming they're about Florence and I must ask to keep them pg-related-"
"Shut up, Midas! You're not helping my nerves." I cried out, shifting in my seat. I hoped to god Florence wouldn't be able to see what a mess I was. This was supposed to be a date. From what I've heard, you're supposed to act confident. At least that's what Midas has told me.
I clutched the giant teddy bear tighter to my chest in hopes that it would calm me down. It was Florence's gift but that didn't mean I couldn't use it.
"Are you sure he's the type to like.... overly stuffed bears?" He asked wearily. I hid half my face in the bears back, glaring up at him.
"Yes." Was all I grumbled. He didn't inquire any further and only focused on the road.
I figured this was the perfect gift for Florence. I remembered how fondly he spoke of it and how excited and giddy he was when we got it for him so it was only natural. Of course, it didn't fail to remind me of how he walked away that day, or how we didn't speak for weeks, but I was sure seeing him squeal from the gift would rid my mind of that horrible memory.
Midas interrupted my thoughts with a loud sigh then turned the radio up. He gasped when he the next song was announced, startling me.
"Oh. My. God!" He shouted, bouncing in his seat. I was scared he was going to drive us into a ditch.
"You have to sing along, Remus! It's our song!" He squealed excitedly. My frown deepened as I listened in and a physical pain formed in my chest.
It was Barbie Girl. Midas' favourite song was Barbie Girl. By Aqua.
"No, no, no!" I groaned, plugging my eyes just as he began turning the volume up more and more.
"This rides a long one! Think of it as payment too!" He pointed out, already humming to the music. "Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease?"
I groaned. I'd rather not listen to Midas sing his heart out to this song but he was right. This was a long ride. Plus, it would take my mind off the date and help ease my nerves.
I glanced up at the mirror and caught his eyes. I didn't say anything, only slouching further into my seat and pressing my lips into a thin line.
"Okay, okay, same roles! Like we used to!" He squealed, which was very uncharacteristic of him, then cleared his throat. "Hiya, Barbie!"
I rolled my eyes. This was so stupid.
"Hi Ken..."
**
After the first song Midas spent the next twenty minutes figuring out the tech on his car. At first I had no idea what he was trying to achieve until the same song came on and I was roped into singing again.
This carried on until the fiftieth replay. I threatened to both jump out the car and take him with me. That didn't stop him from singing it himself, this time as both roles.
However, when we pulled up onto Florence's street I told him to shut up and lower the music. He obliged but not before teasing me.
"This one, this one! Stop the car!" I screamed in his ear as we pulled over to the curb. I had only been here once, with Rian when we were looking for him, but I made sure to ingrain lush greenery of his porch. Especially the white hyacinths that sat in a flower bed on the top floor.
"Compose yourself, Remus!" He sneered. "I'm going to beep once- and no more. We don't want to seem to eager and rush him." He explained calmly.
I listened to him and sat back down in my seat, brushing seemingly nothing off my pants.
He beeped and I tried not to act surprised. Cars were weird.
I glared out the window intently, not letting anything distract me. It only took a minute or two for the front door to swing open and my nerves to come crashing back down on me.
The moment my eyes landed on Florence was the moment everything seemed to align. Like the very cosmos was in my favour.
He looked... positively amazing as he stepped out onto the porch and the afternoon sun hit his face. He practically glowed. He was wearing cute short overalls with a nice bright blue shirt underneath, and even had matching shoes. His dirty-blonde hair was almost hidden underneath a large straw hat save for two locks that settled on either side of his face.
My heart stopped with a sudden thought. He actually took time to think about the date. He looked the part and somehow that made all my dark worries melt away.
"Well he certainly looks cute." Midas commented. My head snapped in his direction and caught his amused indigo eyes in the overhead mirror.
He laughed and shook his head. "Don't crucify me for having eyes," he chuckled. "His outfit is really.... uhh..." he trailed off, mumbling a few random words. I followed his gaze to Florence who was holding hands with someone I somewhat recognised. Florence was nodding and looking down at his feet as he got... a pep talk?
The guy had a mop of loose brown curls and delicate yet somewhat sharp features. He matched Florence with his light freckles and height but other than that they looked like opposites. Florence was like a ballon full of light and innocence while his friend reminded me of a devious teddy bear with black painted nails.
"How does Florence know him?" Midas quickly asked as the two stopped talking and bid each other farewell.
I studied my cousin closely, trying to decipher why he was so enamoured.
"I'm not sure, but I've seen him around the hotel. I think they work there together." I gave now suddenly interested in them. Why had Florence never mentioned him? Judging by the way they were holding hands before I was guessing they were friends. And by guessing I meant secretly hoping.
"He works at the hotel." Midas said aloud. A small smirk grew on his lips and I could only imagine the millions of thoughts and schemes he had broiling in his head.
My heart stopped then began battering my chest as Florence approached and opened the door. He even prettier up close, and he wasn't even in the car yet.
"Oh." He started, his voice surprised. "Midas.."
Midas did a full one-eighty as he stared down Florence. "Yes, hello again." He greeted, his voice much more deeper than it was perviously. God, I would recover if it got out that I was singingn but I think Midas would crawl into a hole and wait a few centuries before he re-emerged.
"My dearest cousin demanded I drove you two. So.... don't mind me." He quickly brushed off, taking his eyes off Florence and gazing out the window once again.
"Bye, Josh!" He waved at his friend who blew him a kiss in response. I shuffled in my seat from my uneasiness.
He hopped in the car and slid almost immediately into me, his side entirely pressed against mine. It was a nice shock but it made my brain melt.
"Hello- oh sorry." He chuckled awkwardly as he moved a little away. I frowned.
"You look really good." I blurted out. A blush creeped on both of our faces as he quickly adverted his gaze and played at the small button on his overalls. I was never good at expressing things.
"T-Thank you. You look good too." He muttered. I decided to give him his present and save myself from another embarrassing moment.
He gasped and his blush vanished, being instantly replaced with a bright grin. He snatched it from my hands without a second though and pressed it as close to himself as humanly possible, and then some more. Never in my life did I think it was possible to be jealous of stuffed animal.
"Thank you thank you thank you thank you!" Hw squealed, his high-pitched voice now muffled by the bear. My mind was melting too much. I couldn't respond.
"This is the best!" He practically screamed. He took his face away from the teddy and looked up at me. He was bouncing in his seat and practically buzzing. Then he seemed to catch himself and he calmed down. "Oh- sorry."
"No." I said curtly. "It's okay.
"I-Is it? I didn't even get you a present!" He gasped and I immediately noticed the panic flooding his irises. I looked to Midas for help but he was too busy grumbling at his gps thing.
"It's fine!" I reassured. "It was a last minute decision anyway.."
It wasn't. A gift for Florence was the first immediate thought I had when I left the hotel.
"B-But it isn't! This is supposed to be a date and—!" A sudden clearing of a throat cut him off.
"Ok that's enough. I figured out the G-E-S-T-P thingy. You two sound like an old couple- god!" He whined before starting up the car and startling us with a jerk.
Florence turned his head to look out the window and tap his fingers nervously on the plastic siding of the car. He then turned his head and looked up at me sheepishly.
"I was really looking forward to thi-"
He was cut off by something much more obnoxious than Midas.
"Come on Barbie, let's go party..."
"How the fuck do I turn this thing off?!"
Not even a full ten minutes in and Midas was making this unnecessarily over dramatic. God, I sure hope Florence didn't say a word to anyone else about this. I don't think Midas would survive....

Florence
I was nervously fidgeting with my fingers the entire car ride. I couldn't keep my mind off the date but more importantly, Remus. He always looked nice but the fact that we were offically going on a date made it somewhat weirder. It was like I saw him in this new light. Maybe it was the same for him?
We snuck glances at each other the entire time while Midas rambled on about something. I was too distracted by his cousin that I wasn't paying attention to a single word coming out of his mouth.
Eventually we reached our destination and Remus helped me out of the car. He suggested I left the bear in the car to which I reluctantly agreed and left it behind. I'd see him again so it didn't matter.
As Midas handed a basket to Remus he bid me a farewell and wished Remus good luck. With him gone and now it was just the two of us I felt both a little more relaxed and nervous.
After awhile we entered the farm reception. It wasn't that hard to find the building as it stuck out like a sore thumb. A modern building standing stark against the rustics of a farm.
Remus hurriedly lead the way and greeted the receptionist who brightened immediately. "Afternoon! What can I do for you today?" She asked animatedly, peering through her thick bangs.
I waited for Remus to respond but after a lengthy period of silence I silently cringed and approached the receptionist myself.
"Forgive us but we actually have a... uhh... standing booking?" I tried. I looked to Remus who stood behind me awkwardly and nodded.
"Slade? Yeah. We're here for the bunnies." I added quickly with a bashful blush. She had an all too knowing look. She then nodded and stuck a pencil in her mouth to chew.
"Alright, I see it. Now, just due to protocol I do have to ask if this is a date?" She quickly rushed out before hiding her face with a clipboard. My mind reeled back as to why she needed to ask this.
"I-I... err.." I looked around the room in a quick panic until Remus cleared his throat and placed a reassuring hand in my back.
"Yes. It is. Why?" He said curtly. My blush deepened and I had to refrain myself from hiding my face against his shoulder.
"Well, it's a long story." She squeaked, her eyes prying just over the clipboard. "B-But to make it short, last month there was a couple who.... got inspired by the bunnies and their... well their most known trait."
Remus and I looked at each other. He was clueless yet I had some sort of inkling as to what she meant.
"Guards caught them having s-"
"I-I'm sure we get it! This is a date..." I looked up at Remus who still didn't seem to have a clue. "...so can we just... go to the bunnies?"
She took a few deep breaths before readjusting her hair and closing her eyes. I guess she was recovering?
"Thank you for your cooperation. Right this way." She said in a even tone before shuffling around out of the reception desk and leading us the way. My eyes snagged on all the farming posters on the wall before getting caught on Remus.
He still looked handsome in simpler clothes, wearing just a blank sleeveless shirt and dark jeans. I found myself lingering on his bulging muscles.
Today was supposed to be windy so hopefully either of us got cold while we were out here. These shirt overalls definitely weren't going to help.
As we stood outside the sun shone bright and bathed us in a heat, reminding me that summer was still around and overbearing as always.
I noticed the 'bunny sanctuary' sign almost immediately and wondered why she felt the need to show us the way. Not that it wasn't unappreciated or anything.
She opened the gate and wished us a nice date. I thanked her with a smile before looking up to Remus.
"Hey," I whispered. He was stating just straight ahead with a nervous gleam in his eyes. "You alright?" I asked, my hand instinctively reaching out and seeking his. However, I stopped myself short with a sudden reminder of the sleepover.
He looked down at me, then at my hand and as I took it back he clasped onto it. His metal rings dug into my knuckles but I didn't mind. My face felt too hot to care.
"W-What if they don't like me?" He asked. I refrained from smiling because he seemed genuine.
"They'll love you, Remus. Trust me." I encouraged and that was all it took. He brightened and swallows thickly before we ventured forward into the giant pen.
It didn't take long before we spotted a bunny and immediately Remus tensed up and dropped the basket. I swallowed a loud yelp as he basically crushed my hand with a tight death-grip and dropped the basket, sending the white feature flying.
"D-Did you see that? Did you, Florence?!" He asked excitedly. I nodded feverishly, trying to concentrate on his cuteness rather than his hand that was crushing mine.
He looked down and his eyes widened in alarm, quickly letting go of my now sore hand. I sucked in a deep breath and tried not to make a big scene about it. His hands were strong as hell!
I felt bad because I knew this was a small step back for him. His rings were a mystery and he didn't enjoy hand-to-hand contact but he somehow felt comfortable holding mine.
"G-God, I'm sorry. I-I don't usually hold peoples hands." He muttered softly, shoving his hands in his pocket roughly. I frowned but masked my disappointment quickly with a smirk.
I playfully shoved him. "It's fine. You're too cute to be mad at." I said quickly; without thought. I distracted myself by picking up the basket and heading off ahead.
"Cute?" He wondered aloud but I pretended not to hear. Cute was definitely not the word I'd use to describe him- on first impressions. Now that I knew him it was the only thing I could think of.
"We're not allowed to feed the bunnies so let's pick somewhere less populated," I said carefully, surveying the area. A few bunnies ran away but others pointed their floppy ears in my direction and twitched their noses.
As we traveled further in we saw more and more bunnies and other couples enjoying time together. It was nice to know I could only imagine how deep Remus' obsession went with these things because as far as I was concerned, these were just cute animals. Of course I'd never tell that to Remus though.
"Here?" I asked. He quickly did a scan of the area and nodded with a small smile. I set the basket down and opened it, pulling out the blanket that closely resembled my shirt.
When I looked up again, Remus was gone. I panicked for a bit but when I peered down I noticed his amazing blue eyes staring up at me.
"What.... are you doing?" I asked. A smile grew on my face as he blew grass from his face.
"Checking for thorns. I don't want you getting pricked." He said seriously. I couldn't help the laughter that bubbled up as I clutched the blanket to my chest and tried not to feel light-headed.
"That's what the blanket is for, Remus!" I laughed. He didn't seem to register what I had said, not until I placed the blanket over him and the ground practically rumbled with his laughter.
"Come on, let's get you up," I groaned as I flipped the blanket off of him and he stuck out his arm. I tried pulling him up but I strained myself so much I either popped or pulled something. I tried from a different angle but that was no luck. I gave up after I realised Remus was no longer laughing for the same reason.
"You're heavier than a bloody boulder!" I gasped as I sat down beside him. I was expiring already.
He had a an amused smile and a glimmer in his eyes. He sat up, but didn't take his eyes off mine. His intense stare reminded me of when we first saw each other. That seemed like years ago at this point.
"Have I told you you look really good?" He asked. There was no jest in his voice, no tone that suggested he meant otherwise. No joke I didn't get.
"You have, actually." I laughed off. My head was buzzing but I didn't want to let it show. I started fidgeting with my fingers to stop the oncoming blush.
"I'm serious, Florence. You're beautiful."
I choked on seemingly nothing. I was hesitant on looking up but when I did I was met with a straight face. He wasn't going to laugh at me.
"Y-You really think so?" I asked, scratching the back of my neck. I've been called many things, both good and... well bad but I've never been called beautiful. Especially not by someone who was... well handsome.
"Of course I think so." He insisted eagerly, placing a hand on my knee. I peeked up at him, desperate that maybe a bunny would start gnawing at the basket and he'd get distracted, or a giant sinkhole would suddenly open me up and swallow me whole.
He chucked but didn't push any further. If he did I might've died.
"You hungry?" He asked as he opened the basket and grabbed out some containers. I sheepishly nodded and helped him unpack the basket, my head still tingling from his compliment.
He thought I was beautiful.
"Yeah, let's eat!"
He had a variety of things including small sandwiches, cakes, biscuits and other things. It wasn't too extravagant- not that I was expecting it to be- but it was exactly what I needed. As we ate, we watched the bunnies hop around and we talked.
We talked about a million different things, each topic progressively more light-hearted and fun. We strayed away from talk about the future and things like the hotel and more about shows and memories.
Shows we had watched together and mainly my memories. He didn't seem to keen on sharing anything about his past.
We were just about to delve into another deep discussion about a certain bunny-themed movie when we were interrupted by a group of onlookers. We both looked up at the group of strangers, all in pairs and all directly staring.
I felt hot under all the stares and even hotter when Remus shuffled in-front of me and partially blocked my face.
"Oh, sorry!" One of them spoke up. He moved forward from the crowd and presented himself to us. He had overalls on, but not the kind I was wearing. His actually covered his ass and the lower part of his body. He had dark almond skin and noticeable freckles and by noticeable I meant he was covered. They put my own to shame.
"I was just showing the new couples around! They wanted to see the bunny sanctuary," he brushed off. He had a deep voice, the type that basically screamed 'I'm friendly'. "We didn't mean to intrude."
I expected Remus to speak up and say it's alright but judging by the looks of the group he was probably staring them down.
"That's all good," I spoke up, slipping on my hotel-friendly voice just to make sure. "I thought this place was only a bunny sanctuary-pen-farm thing.."
He laughed and it made Remus tense. I poked his back playfully and he grumbled something under his breath.
"It's a lot of things, actually! It's well known for our bunnies and a dating hot-spot but we also offer 'Farmer-For-A-Day'!"
Remus craned his neck to peer at me. I was genuinely questioning if this was a real place. Up until a few days ago I wasn't even sure bunny farms existed! Now it's also a farmer's convention?
I could tell Remus was getting uncomfortable from all the people so I cleared my throat and stood up. This time I was the one to shuffle in-front of Remus.
"This is a date, so- uhh... y'know..." I said a little quieter. The man's warm brown eyes lit up with understanding and he nodded feverishly.
"Of course, of course! But- hey, I will leave you with this..." he grumbled something as he reached into his backpack and gave me a pamphlet. "Just in case. Oh and it's Jake, by the way."
He flashed his pearly whites and I did the same. "Florence. Thanks,"
He waved goodbye and left us to it, the group of people following closely behind and gawked at the bunnies. I set the pamphlet down and flipped down next to Remus who still didn't say anything.
Instead of talking he pulled me into a hug. It was unexpected and shocked me only a little. I was starting to realise Remus and hugs were very common.
"Your overalls are really short." He muttered into my ear, effectively setting my face alight. I sputtered and pulled myself away, covering my face with my hands.
"I-I know they are!" I stuttered out. God, this was so embarrassing! What if my ass has been hanging out this entire time and no one bothered to tell me? "I told Josh that they were too small!"
Remus simply had a smile on his face. "I don't mind."
"Ahh, Remus!"
He let out a boisterous laugh while I tried my best not to run away. I was definitely going to hold this against Josh once I got back.
It took awhile for my cheeks to cool but when they did I announced that we were going for a small walk. He didn't object. Instead, still laughing, he helped me pack up. He teased me about it all the way to the gate, still gasping in awe at every bunny. You'd think that he'd seen one for the very first time whenever one popped up.
"Wanna walk around the barns?" I asked as I looked over at the other, old buildings. My hand was laying by my side in hopes that he'd take it again but he didn't. I didn't push it any further and thought nothing else of it.
"I'll do whatever you want to do." He responded with a lightness to his voice. I smiled up at him before forging our way to the barnyard animals. I particularly wanted to see the sheep.
It only took around about four minutes of figuring out the map on the pamphlet but when we thought we had it we confidently headed towards the sheep.
"I told you were came from the left of the bunny pen." Remus said once again and I looked at the map.
"No, because if we had then we'd have already passed the reception again but we didn't," I reasoned, pointing to the reception. "And if we had passed the reception then we would've been west of the pig barn, right in-front of the wheat fields."
I felt confident in my statement but not too confident in the idea that this very place was real. How was this a dating hot-spot?
Remus grumbled. "Oh."
I nudged his shoulder and he smiled. "You'd be great at battle planning with me. I was never good at orientation, positioning- all that. Only the fighting aspect." He admitted.
I pursed my lips into a fine line, my thoughts scattered between an idea and a fact. The idea that what he was proposing sounded oddly cute to me and the fact that he was a warlord. How did I always forget that?
"That sounds fun," I gave. I was unable to think of anything else. He smiled brightly at me so all was worth it.
Just as I began plotting our path to the sheep a strong gust of wind came from nowhere and blew my hat right off my head. I watched in slight astonishment as it flipped in the air then dive-bombed right into the pen on some unknown animal.
"No!" I cried as I ran up to the fence and peered in. I went to glance at which animal belonged to this barn but the sound of odd bleating instantly clued me in.
"Sheep!" Remus chirped, joining me at the fence. His buzzing contradicted my dread.
"Ram, Remus." I corrected as I noticed it's large, menacing horns. "A ram who has my hat."
The ram nudged at my hat then took it into his mouth and started chewing precariously. I frowned deeply as it stared directly into my soul, almost like a big 'fuck you'.
Remus seemed to notice my disappointment, stepping back and rolling up his sleeves. "I'll get your hat back, Florence." He said with determination.
"Hey, wait, Remus. Maybe we should read this-" I called by by then he was already walking into the pen. I didn't bother calling him back here and instead chose to read the extensive page of rules.
Most of it was common sense and it even gave us some helpful pointers. However the most important one, according to this piece of paper, was to never bother the ram when he was eating.
My eyes shot up faster than lightning bolts as I watched Remus try and sneak up on the ram who was happily munching on my hat.
"Remus! Wait-!"
Too late. Remus merely waved his hand in front of the ram's dazed eyes and in one swift motion smacked his hand away with his powerful horns and charged full speed and the poor unsuspecting man.
Remus was easily knocked over with a series of loud groans as he covered his lower regions. The ram didn't seem satisfied with the damage he had done and prepared to charge again.
I didn't have enough time to register my own actions as I jumped the fence, a mud puddle flying up as my feet landed. The rams head swivelled in my directions, it's eyes looking as blank as ever. I froze, fear suddenly catching up to me yet my common sense decided to lag behind.
"Hey, uh, ram. I-I don't appreciate you hurting my friend like that." I stuttered out. I remember someone telling me rams were intelligent. Maybe they could understand what reasoning was? "He didn't mean to disturb you. It was my hat, after all."
I could've sworn the rams faced darkened. His eyes definitely did look angry as he backed up again, ready to charge. It was official, I had pissed off the ram.
Instead of backing up I did what my brain told me to do, and I charged the ram myself.
I let out the loudest battle cry I could muster as I extended my arms out and advanced the ram, catching it off guard. It was stunned as I grabbed hold of its horns and for a split second I almost let my grip slip as I was slightly taken aback that I managed to get this far. It didn't last long as the rams head dipped between my legs, dragging me along with it. It bucked its hind legs and my chest hit the bony back of the ram, winding me in the process but I still hadn't let go. My arms were between my legs, still firmly ahold of the horns.
It wriggled violently as it tried breaking free but I still had a hold. It wasn't until it bucked it's as right into my face and I nipped my tongue did I let go, rolling off the ram and onto the muddy floor. I prepared myself for a stabbing via horns but after a few seconds nothing came so I shot up and steadied myself.
"Florence-!" Remus called out but I didn't have time to respond as the ram charged me again. Instead of charging it again I settled on running away, running for the closest fence. Remus joined me, running quickly around the ram and catching me as I landed on the fence.
I tried hauling myself over but my shorts didn't allow much moving space and this part of the fence was significantly taller than the last one.
"Fuck Josh and his insistence of these damn booty-short-overalls!" I cursed, trying to lift myself with my arms but my upper body strength was barely existent. I had almost given up hope until I jolted forward with both shock and momentum as Remus' hands landed on my ass and he pushed me over. I fell face first into the grass.
I heard Remus groan and I knew for certain that he had gotten rammed yet again.
"Holy shit!" I heard another voice yell with amusement. I looked up and noticed Jake and a few other farmers all huddled together as they watched.
I quickly got up and faced Remus who was hanging half over the fence. He groaned slightly as I rigged in his shirt, urging him to climb the rest of it over.
The ram trotted away for a second before circling back and bowing it's head.
"Remus, it's coming back!" I yelled into his ear. He didn't waste any more time, hurling himself over and landing next to me.
I felt so bad and tried to help him up which was just a whole lot of me groaning and grabbing at his arm. Once he was up, he brushed himself off and took my wrists.
"Are you okay?" He asked, a small waver to his voice. "Did I hurt you?"
I watched in astonishment as he fussed over me. I left with barely a scratch, he probably had a bruised backside. and front side...
"You're the one who got rammed twice!" I pointed out. I heard snickers from the crowd but didn't pay them any mind. Remus furrowed his brows.
"That doesn't matter. What matters is that you got hurt." He insisted, pointing to my scratched up, muddy hands.
With just a simple sentence I felt like puddy in his warm hands. I felt all warm and hot inside at the idea of being cared for. Cared for by Remus. God, that felt like a dream.
The crowds snickers turned to aw's and that snapped me back to reality. Remus' hand hovered over my bicep and he pulled me closer. I blushed and used his chest to hide my burning face.
"What on earth happened here?" I heard Jake's voice ask. I could tell he was probably trying not to smile.
"Your ram has a problem." Remus grumbled. "He ate his hat."
Jake laughed and I couldn't help but smile. Remus, like usual, didn't see the joke in his words.
"Well, you're normally not supposed to enter it's pen but I'll look past it, seeing as you did get charged twice. Here, we'll give you some icepacks and you can stay in one of the barns." He insisted.
Remus didn't move for awhile and instead chose to just hold me where I was. It took a couple tries at stepping on his foot for him to start moving but when he did he kept me close.
Jake lead us to an empty barn where he said people recouped after a long day of 'farming' and left to go get us some relief. Remus sighed with relief when he left, only to hold onto me tighter when he returned with cool blue bags.
"Thank you," I hummed when he gave me a few bandaids. He nodded with the same bright smile.
"Just go the Heidi at the reception when you leave. Just gotta fill out some paperwork." He said before promptly leaving. Silence set in and I turned to Remus who had a deep brown as he held two ice packs to he crotch and one near his tailbone.
"It was nice of them to give us the icepacks.." I thought allowed, just to break the tension. Remus didn't seem too impressed however, frowning from his place on the floor. He looked down at his feet and twiddled with his thumbs.
"That stupid sheep.." he grumbled. "I'm going to roast it while it's still alive."
I let out a small chuckle and he perked back up. He was blushing.
"I'm pretty sure the farmers wouldn't like their livestock being spit-roasted." I sighed just as he stood up. I'm not sure what I was hoping for but we each edged closer to each other.
It only took a moment for our chests to meet and our eyes to stay connected. His piercing blue eyes were like precise bullets that struck just the right places.
"Fine. I'll buy the animal." He hummed, brushing a few stray hairs out of my face. "Then I'll roast it."
I laughed but it was more of a bashful giggle. I couldn't handle staring at his intense eyes so I quickly adverted my gaze to my feet. However, Remus didn't seem to like that and gripped my chin. He gently titled my face upwards and stared intently.
"Then I'll eat it.." he said lowly, tracing his thumb over my bottom lip. I suddenly felt really hot in the face when I had the sudden thought that I may faint.
But I was prepared. Josh had told me what to do in this situation. I was just supposed to let him take charge, right? Remus could be very selective when he wanted to make me feel... hot and bothered.
My eyes left his eyes and focused on his lips that remained closed yet inviting. I peeked up at him just to confirm that he was showing the right signs, that he wasn't going to push me away and regret this. His eyes shone gleamed with something that made me shiver. Want. It was clear as day. It was something I had never seen on Remus but it was definitely something I wanted to see more.
My body then decided to move on it's own accord and pressed myself as close as it could to him, leaving no room between us. I leaned up on my toes, using his broad chest as support and fluttered my eyes shut. He understood and yanked my chin hard, practically smashing our lips together.
The sudden contact sparked something inside of me. It started within my heart and in my lips, a warm fuzzy feeling. It spread inside and melted everything else away. I no longer felt the pain from today's earlier events, only the the new bliss flourishing between us.
Everything felt natural. I moved according to him and he did the same. When I pushed myself closer he used his free arm to wrap around my waist and hold me still, when he leaned into the kiss I parted my lips for his tongue- which felt strange but somewhat hot.
The most addicting part was the way he held me. He wanted me still in his arms and that was both comforting and sexy. When I tried to part he'd press my waist some and grip my chin. He wanted majority control and I was giving it to him.
My heart was beating so hard it was the only thing I could hear. Our breathing stilled and then I could've sworn I heard the beating of his heart thumping through his chest and against mine.
We moved and continued our intimacy until I realised I was running low on and oxygen and couldn't continue. I tapped his shoulder lightly and he disconnected from my lips. His arm around my waist remained there though.
I buried my head into his pecs and caught my breath. I tried focusing and calming down but the tingling sensation in my lips and... lower regions kept me from doing so.
"That was.." he started. I could hear how out of breath he was too. He sounded so much better this way.
"Amazing...?" I tried, placing a shaking hand over my erratic heart. God, it was a miracle I could even get that word out. My head was everywhere and and everything was spinning.
"Beautifully amazing." He hummed, a deep chuckle rumbling through his chest. Even his laugh was music to my ears. "You felt so delicate. I hope I wasn't too.. uh-"
"Too rough? No, you weren't. Although I may have a mark on my chin.." I lifted my head and pursed my lips into a pout. He placed a hand on my head an ruffled my hair.
We stood in silence for what felt like an eternity. An eternity that was well spent. He held me with such certainty it was almost scary. Just as I went to speak, I felt something heavy land in my foot and I looked down.
"Oh my god!" I squealed and Remus perked up instantly.
"W-What?!" He asked abruptly, unwrapping himself from me only to grip onto my shoulders and jerk me back, scanning my face.
I smiled happily then pointed down at the bunny who had landed on my foot and was curiously chewing on Remus' shoe. He gasped louder than me and then stilled like a statue
I held onto his forearm and watched him basically buzz and shake with excitement. I could tell he was desperately wanting to not scare it off.
"Did it run away?" He asked through a tight grit and closed eyes. I peered down and watched the fluffy ball of black.
"No, it didn't..." I said curiously as I watched the bunny try and eat at my shoelace. I didn't want to kick it off but I had no other means of disturbing both bunny and Remus, that it until I had a sudden idea.
I wasn't too sure if this was allowed but I figured it would be worth a go so I bent down and picked it up, trying to remember how I held Honey when he was a puppy.
"Remus, look," I said gently as I held the bunny in my arms. I was expecting it to squirm but instead it nuzzled into my hands and sat there.
Remus reluctantly opened his eyes and just near about passed out when his eyes landed on the creature. He seemed to not know what to do, keeping his posture rigid and his hands by his side.
"C'mon, look, it likes pets." I encouraged. I presented the bunny with my fingers and it stuck its small snout between them. Remus didn't seem to convinced. He gave me a weary look then pointed his curious eyes at the animal.
I wanted him to fulfil his dream of petting one and this was the perfect moment. Every bunny we had seen before, the ones at the festival and the ones here, all ran away from him. It was so cruel to be surrounded by animals you loved with your whole heart, animals who were fearful and weary. I couldn't tell if it was because he was physically intimidating or the fact that he was half lizard.
"I'm pretty sure it's going to poop soon, Remus.." I noted. It was a fear of mine to be pooped on by an animal and having this bunny in my arms was frying my nerves.
He smiled softly but it was killed off. "W-What if I hurt it?" He said, barely above a whisper. I sympathised with Remus so much it almost physically hurt. It wasn't hard to tell he had secrets but the origins of those said secrets was. Not to mention, it was strange. He was a warlord scared of hurting those around him.
"You won't. Trust me." I eased. I didn't want to force him to do anything so I simply held the bunny just a little higher.
He held eye contact with me for a minute longer and I could clearly see he was truly worried. There wasn't anything more I could say other than give him my warmest smile. He stayed put and I took the hint, beginning to set the bunny down when he stuck out a hand and gently patted the bunny.
The cute animal nuzzled into his palm and Remus lit up once again.
"It's ears are so soft and floppy!" He gasped, shuffling and tentatively placing his other hand against it's ear.
I stayed silent while he gushed on and on about the bunny. He switched between silent poker-face and loving bunny enthusiasts so fast it was almost giving me whiplash. It was worth it though. He was worth it.
We stayed like this for a good couple minutes more, petting the bunny who began to grow restless in my arms. The first small kick to my arm was enough for Remus who immediately stood back. I carefully placed the bunny back onto the ground and it hopped away, swivelling it's tiny tail bun at us.
Remus stood forward and wrapped his arm around my waist, leaning into my neck. It was almost scary how natural this felt. Did people usually do this on first dates? Did people even kiss on first dates?!
I pushed that to the back of my mind and focused on relaxing. I didn't realise until now but my legs were kinda sore from walking and I was feeling a bit exhausted. I guess that's what happens when you stay up until eleven P.M freaking out over your date.
"You're tired." He pointed out. His breath felt hot against my nape and his heat spread from there. I shuddered and nodded. "Did you want to go? I think we've spent today well, don't you think?"
I didn't want this day to end. The kiss made it feel like we had only begun, begun something new and exciting. I knew forever was a lie but I found myself wanting to be perpetually stuck in a one with Remus. I found myself fantasising about waking up tomorrow and waking up to a loop of today.
Then I scared myself and I stopped that train of thought.
"Alright, let's go fill out some paperwork and go home." He laughed, leading us both out of the barn. I quickly left his arms to grab the basket and returned to his side.
With every step it felt like I was missing out on an opportunity to say something, to say how I felt. But what was I supposed to say? This was still fresh and confusing!
"This was my first date in well... years," Remus noted. I looked up at him in surprise.
"Me too," I admitted. Suddenly I felt a whole lot better. This was fresh for the both of us. "I haven't been on a date since my last year of high school."
It was his turn to act surprise. I wasn't sure if that was a bad thing or a good thing. Personally, I was unbothered about it. Sure, there were moments where I felt like I was missing out on things but I always had things to bust myself with.
"Am I your first.... guy?" He asked. His eyes suddenly felt like lasers burning into the side of my face. I blushed and nodded.
"Yes. I've only ever dated girls before." I explained. He also seemed surprised by this information. As I left high school I realised a lot of people tended to be surprised by the fact.
"Am I you first guy?" I asked a little too eagerly.
He adverted his eyes to the ground and pursed his lips together. He seemed to be thinking. He took awhile and I was starting to wonder if I had struck a sore spot.
"The first meaningful guy, yes." He gave somewhat cryptically. I didn't bother to try and decipher it, only enjoying the warm feeling that grew in my chest at the word meaningful.
We walked in silence after that. I suppose we just wanted to enjoy each other's company for the remainder of the walk. I didn't feel the need to bring up the kiss right now either. It was something that was better left without question. We could always put it under a microscope later.
As we reached the entrance Remus suddenly stopped me. He grabbed hold of my hand and quickly entwined our fingers, the cold jab of his rings giving comfort this time.
"Thank you, Florence." He whispered. As he leaned in I focused on on his eyes. I was starting to realise that Remus mostly conveyed emotion through his eyes and not his facial expression. It was somewhat challenging but also exciting. Like a secret code only few knew how to properly read.
"Everyday with you is another day better than the next. Thank you."
I didn't know what to say, mainly because he was being so sweet I don't think my brain could handle it. How was I suppose to one-up that? Being sweet came too naturally to him. It should be illegal.
He didn't mind my silence and instead tapped my chin again. He leaned closer and with an inkling as to where this was going I was already nodding before he had even asked the question. He smiled before pressing our lips together.
It wasn't as rough as the first time but it certainly felt just as electric with each movement sending a shocking spark through my body. It was soft and gentle and sent me so high up I didn't want to come down. He didn't hold me as close and allowed me to break away first when I had my fill and felt like the butterflies in my stomach couldn't handle it anymore.
He let out a small laugh and then kissed my cheek. God, I felt like I was floating.
"Thank you, Florence." He repeated. Our hands stayed twined as we headed for the reception.
"Thank you, Remus." We both smiled and hummed.
"Now let's go fill out some paperwork...."
IT HAPPENED! I REPEAT, IT HAPPENED! THEY K-I-S-S-E-D!!!!!!! God I can't believe it's taken be 41 chapters for Florence to finally have an intimate scene with one of the boys. I'm starting to realise that I might be a bit too slow when it comes to writing!
As for the sudden change in POV, I felt at first that I wanted to write it in Remus' but then I figured it'd be cuter if it was from Florence's!
Anyways, I nearly died multiple times throughout writing this chapter but it was worth it. I hope you guys enjoyed all seven thousand words of it, it's my longest written chapter to date!
Also, disclaimer, I am in no way shape or form a bunny farm expert, I'm not even quite sure they exist! This is a fictional story so... y'know..
I really really hope you guys liked this chapter. I felt like I wanted to reward you guys so here it is!
Predictions and thoughts are always welcomed! What do you think the guys will think about their little date? That's if they find out, that is....
Cheers!
