Fie Wright's P. O. V
Warmth from the arm tightening around my waist grows cold for a second while a grunt of bemusement follows sharply from my mate's lips. The grip on my torso slackening after Malleus held me in a possessive way from whatever threat he deemed to be potentially after me with the swinging of the door to the little patients room that's been set up. Even Alpha Tyrell loosens up his stance over his mate who still has a goofy smile across her face, the feature only widening at the sight that greets us.
My own forehead creases due to the rising of my eyebrows while the men in the room roll their eyes heavenwards at the jester in front of us.
I'm not surprised this is happening but it seems Malleus and Alpha Tyrell still have a while to catch up with the way certain people in the Pack work considering how they were caught off guard. By certain people, I mean one person in particular who would dare barge in uninvited and looking as ridiculous as one possibly could.
Shaggy brown hair and equally chocolaty brown eyes scan the room, smiling cheekily at everyone before his eyes land on the star of the evening also known as his beloved sister in law. Aria doesn't bat an eye at the kooky character in the room, not even flinching as a loud sound goes off that has me cringing, especially when the residue echoes in my ear like a bade case of tinnitus.
"Ezra! Can you no-," My slightly warped words, due to the constant ringing in my ears, gets cut off by another blaring hoot as Ezra interrupts me by placing the party blower in his mouth, the tacky foil uncurling itself to release another ear splitting noise that does wonders for our sensitive hearing.
"We're officially celebrating!" The overgrown toddler cheers boisterously, practically skipping to his Luna and embracing her in a hug under the watchful gaze of a peeved looking Tyrell, "I even got us all party hats." The miscellaneous objects stuffed into his back pockets overflowing as he reaches up and tugs at the plastic band digging into his neck, the top cardboard part decorated with various unicorns. Plucking the multiple hats stacked atop his own, he delicately lifts up Aria's hair while the woman watches on in quite amusement mixed in with childlike excitement as he places her very own party hat onto her head.
"Don't even think about it." Tyrell mutters to his brother who merely grins back at him evilly, brandishing another party hat identical to the one his mate wears. I can tell Tyrell is ready to beat the childishness out of his brother but one look at his mate, who stares back with flushed cheeks and an animated expression, has him grumbling profanities but nonetheless, depositing the silly party wear onto his head. By the time Ezra turns to me, I already find myself with my hand out, ready to wear the damned thing since I can't bare having my Luna getting any of her excitement squashed especially with her waking up and coming to the way she has.
"If he comes near me with that stupid contraption, I will decapitate him." Malleus hisses to me, trying to be quiet even though everyone in the room and probably even outside it, can hear him clear as day.
Turning to stare at him over my shoulder, I try my best to keep my gaze stern even while the elastic string edges it's way into my skin, "I am wearing it and so shall you," I try to say with finality in my tone although we both know the final decision rests entirely up to him. A huff later, Malleus extends his arm and snatches the cardboard hat from a smug Ezra, not even giving the man a second look as he plops it onto his head.
"I am only doing this because I know how much Aria means to you." Malleus tries to sound authoritative and commanding but not one person is exempt from looking downright ridiculous, the King of all wolves included. No matter how Kingly Malleus wants to appear what with his legs spread, arms crossed and head titled with his chin in the air, even he can't escape the comical aura that the bedazzled unicorn hat brings with it.
"Now we can officially get this party started." Ezra exclaims I'm excitement while most of us stare on in utter boredom at the eager man, "We're going to have a bonfire with a barbecue and everything. I got all the menu sorted and sent out the invite which was literally just me mind linking everyone to get their asses gathered by six thirty sharp. Chop chop people. You've got to start getting ready!"
"It's eleven in the morning," I deadpan to the man in front of me which he merely shakes off with a wave of his hand, "Who cares? Go and pamper yourself or whatever the hell it is you do."
"I don't think this is a smart idea," Alpha Tyrell speaks up slowly, glancing at Ezra with a guarded expression, "Aria has just gotten better but that doesn't mean her immune system is at its strongest right now. She still needs to rest and shouldn't mingle about with the other wolves." I almost find myself nodding in agreement but stop myself short when I glance down at my Luna who has a defeated frown on her face, bright eyes now dimmed in sadness but not saying anything to plead her case.
"Maybe we could take precautions around her?" I find myself speaking up, hoping I don't find myself with the short stick by facing a possessive mate's wrath. My words have Aria beaming at me once again while I throw her a sly wink even though the ultimate choice is up to the Alpha. However, the man is smitten and one look into his hopeful mates doe eyes has him sighing in reluctance before seeking out my mate for advice who currently seems bored out of his mind.
"My King, do you think it would be advisable for her to attend the bonfire with nearly all of the packs wolves attending as well?" Malleus mulls the Alpha's words for a few moments before shrugging his shoulders in nonchalance, "Her immune system isn't really compromised and isn't at a stage that could be deemed as fragile. She's probably just a bit below what her normal immunity would be like so in the end, it depends on the Luna and if she feels up to it."
Everyone in the room could see that the woman is most definitely up to it as she starts nodding her head on the spot, keen to get out of bed and mingle with the pack after being confined to one room for long. Even if she wasn't conscious for most of it, I'm sure her wolf is going stir crazy with the lack of freedom when it comes to her stretching her legs and taking a long run in the woods.
I really should let my wolf take over as well otherwise she'll nag at me and might forcefully take over. The little shit gives me a mental nod at my thoughts, pretty much signalling that she will do that if I don't hurry up and let her free within the day. I shudder to think what the pesky mutt will do if I don't give into her ways.
Maybe hump Malleus' leg in broad daylight like the kinky animal she is.
"I guess if we want the wife to be happy, we'll have to let her go. Happy wife happy life." Tyrell mutters at the end while I smirk and send a pointed look at Malleus, the eye roll appearing on command while I nuzzle into his arms, trying to hold back the giggle that just about escapes me due to the still sparkling hat on his head.
"We'll let you both get some alone time. Take good care of her and make sure to keep an extra cautious eye on her during the bonfire," Malleus announces to a stoic Tyrell who nods his head a few times in agreement. Like before, one side of me itches to spend some quality girl time with my Luna and best friend but the other side of me understands how crucial it is for the two mate's to spend as much alone time together as possible. It might have flown by for a comatose Aria but it was clear as day to everyone that Tyrell was on the brink of losing his sanity. Spending months besides an unconscious mate without any hope or ideas of how to get her back to her normal state.
Sending one last comforting look to the two lovebirds, I latch onto a pouty Ezra who whines at us leaving the couple on their own, "You can catch up with her later buddy. Give them some time together for now," I say softly to him as his whines subdue slowly from the back of his throat. He releases himself from my grip for a moment to hug the woman one last time before allowing me to drag him back outside the room. None of us bat an eye at the increasing number of gathered people standing outside and crowding the already small corridor.
Our blank faces continue to remain plastered on our faces when everyone bends down onto one knee at the sight of their King. Word already spreading around our Pack like wildfire at the mere thought of the King being in our midsts. I'm sure most of the conversations involved me as well but I cringe away from that, not really wanting to know the biased opinions people might have of me that are based by their own deluded minds.
Maybe I'm lucky and no one really gives a toss? I might be self centred for all I know. However, one look at the prying eyes that take over Malleus and I have me shifting uncomfortably. My mate sensing the intrusion as he clears his throat and motions for them all to stand.
"Luna Aria is in more or less perfect condition. She is healthy and awake. As you all must have gotten the mind link from Ezra, there will be a bonfire taking place in celebration of our Luna recovering and she will be present there. I ask you all not to crowd her at once but give her a bit of space and time in case she feels overwhelmed. Other than that, please enjoy yourselves when the time comes." No awkwardness can be sensed in my tone, or at least I hope not, as I tell the wolves what they so desperately wanted to hear.
I can tell a few of them want to hang about and ask me and Ezra questions but one look at the intimidating man besides me has them running as fast as their legs can take them without letting their supernatural speed take over.
"I'm bored." Ezra groans as soon as everyone disperses, glancing down at me with me with pleading eyes while I immediately start shaking my head, "I'll be going for a run since my wolf needs to be let loose. You and Malleus can get used to being around each other I guess. Go watch some movie, thump your chests and walk around with handmade clubs. Whatever you primates want to do with your spare time," I finish with a wave of my hand, turning my body so that I can walk straight out of the corridor and in the direction where the forest awaits me.
It's like I can practically feel the greenery softly whispering my name and enticing me ever more.
"I'd rather take a nap till the party starts." Ezra says with a blanched face while Malleus grunts.
"I'd rather throw myself in an erupting volcano and feel each bodily cell disintegrating into nothingness than spend time with Ezra." Malleus says with finality in his tone while I roll my eyes at both the man behind me.
"Fine. Ezra you go sleep. Malleus would you like to join me for a run?" I ask sweetly, my façade apparent to everyone since I'm an open book when it comes to spending time with my mate, no matter what we spend doing but just as long as we're together.
"I'd love to." He says with a soft smile, my own slipping onto my face as the both of us stare at one another for a few seconds, completely ignoring an overly dramatic and moaning Ezra.
"I'll leave the both of you sickening people before I find myself barfing up my breakfast," Ezra chides while a smirk slips onto my face.
"Oh don't you worry little cousin. I'll be sure to entertain your mate in the future. Make her feel at home with all the uber embarrassing stories I have of you," I find myself replying with smugness in my tone. The horror is imminent on the young boys face, his life probably flashing before his eyes as he recounts all the moments of stupidity he's had in his life, which is suffice to say quite a lot. Ezra looks on wide eyed, clearing his throat before becoming weirdly nonchalant as he moves one shoulder in the air in a careless shrug.
"Malleus, I never did tell you about that one time when Fie-,"
"Malleus! Let's go for that walk." I say rather loudly, not letting my pain in the ass cousin get another chance at going off on some story that will have me keeping my eyes from Malleus for the rest of our mated lives. My mate knows better than to protest as I grab ahold of his hand and drag him away from the smug looking man although I can see the curiosity in Malleus' eyes. Never mind, I'm sure my mother will get her chance to tell him every aspect of my life, sparing money details of course.
I lead the both of us outside of the building and over to the side of it, just where the forest encroaches out of its boundary and tries to slither its way onto the recreational land. Slipping past the other buildings, we both make our way deeper into the forest but still within pack lands since I don't want any tensions arising in case I trespass somewhere accidentally which, unfortunately, has happened one too many times.
"Taking a run in our wolf forms isn't the only reason I've brought you so deep into the forest," I inform a now confused Malleus, brows crunched up together and lips pulled down slightly in a questioning frown.
"What other reason is there?" He questions softly as I glance down at our joined hands, deftly intertwining our fingers together while I give his palm a gentle squeeze.
"I wanted to ask you about a few things." I hint subtly, my mind flitting back to the glow coming from his palm at the gate between the two realms and then how he healed our Luna up without any help from a mage. Not to mention a mage calling Malleus 'magus.'
Malleus manages to catch on to the serious edge in my words as he carries me over to a stump left over from tree felling and makes me sit down before scooting besides me even though half of him is off of the stump.
"You can do magic can't you?" I blurt out, my tongue not connecting with my mind with the concept of beating around the bush. Malleus seems surprised by my question but I can tell he's already seen it coming.
I mean how couldn't he? It's not like I could ignore unique behaviour coming from my mate when I'm heavily invested in him. Not in a creepy way of course.
Malleus takes a moment to respond before he slowly nods his head, running a hand through his thick tussled hair, "It's not a secret to anyone if I'm being honest and not on a need to know basis but more so that I just don't tell anyone I meet. A few people know here and there and there are a few rumours going about in the Tenebris Realm but that's about it. To answer your question; however, yes I can use magic." I digest his words for a few moments, taking in what he's just said and feeling slightly underwhelmed. I was expecting a huge secret that would have my throat slit if I told anyone else or even hinted at it.
Okay I'm just being over dramatic but I didn't expect it to be so simple.
"How? Werewolves don't exactly have magical powers. If you don't count changing into wolves that is."
Malleus sighs, casually wrapping an arm around my shoulder and letting me lean into him while he supports me, "My mother was half witch. It's uncommon and slightly unusual but not impossible," the shock on my face is probably apparent at his words since the chances of finding your mate outside of the werewolf norm is pretty limited, "I will admit that the chances of me being able to use magic was limited since I am a quarter of what my mom was but she realised early on that I struck a good deal I guess."
The more Malleus lets on about his lineage, the more baffled I get which causes me to frown as I shift on the hard surface, my backside slowly starting to throb at the contact, "But that mage called you 'Magus'. There's a difference between witches and mages." I ponder aloud, thinking back to the basic knowledge I have in regards to the magical beings.
A witch is someone who naturally possesses that magical power and can manipulate elements around them, a deeper focus on bodily anatomy and are the classic beings that you see encased by herbs and brews as they mix around powerful concoctions to heal the body and mind. Mages, from what I've been told, are similar to witches in the sense that they are magic users but in the sense that they have to build up on it. Study and learn as a student to grasp onto the power so that they can be even given half a chance of reaching the potency that witches have. I remember being confused by it in the beginning since it was all so complicated but I think I managed to get the gist of it.
"My mother being half a witch and becoming the consort to my father, the King, caused great distress among the advisors since it was well known at the time that the public would go berserk. The mere thought of the royal bloodline being tainted might have resulted in chaos since wolves are prideful creatures and do not like to intermingle with others. Thankfully it's lessened with the new generations but back then it was close to an abomination especially concerning the royal family. The council along with my father and mother decided that it would harshen the blow to announce that she was a mage instead since the two have almost the same scents."
If I were in my wolf form, I'm sure my ears would have been stuck straight up in the air with my head tilted to the side as I listen intently to my mate's words, understanding the animosity that comes off of him even though he doesn't realise the aura that he's emitting, "The public didn't like the fact when it was announced but it was better than my mother being a witch so with a little fuss, they eventually accepted it. That's why only the Head Mage knows I actually have witch blood in me but all the others think I'm more or less a mage." Malleus concludes, blue eyes slightly hesitant as they reach up to meet mine, almost as if the man is expecting me to act the same as those bigoted wolves that wouldn't accept his mother for who she is.
A teasing smile gigs at my lips while I nudge my shoulder playfully with his, "I didn't think you could have gotten any hotter but look at you having full on magical powers." I joke lightheartedly, enjoying the way relief spreads over his face and his own smile brightening at my words. Leaning up, I brush my lips gently against his in a soft barely there kiss before getting up, ignoring his groan of protest.
"As lovely as this conversation was, I'd love to take a run." With that, I extend my hand to my lovely mate who gets an excited in his gorgeous eyes.

AN: Guys did that make sense or am I tripping? I didn't want to overwhelm you with a buttload of information because usually when writers do that I get so confused and I'm like what in the hell just happened here. Should I explain it deeper in another chapter? I think I should.
Question: Anyone want to tell me an embarrassing story that's happened to them?
My answer: I remember back when I was thirteen, I was going through the scanners at the airport and had to rush cuz they were telling me to move ahead. Anyways my shoes were super slippery for some reason and I landed flat on my face in front of everyone. I had tears in my eyes lmao but tried to get up with as much dignity as possible. Don't y'all love when that happens?
