Fie Wright's P. O. V

Trepidation hangs thick in the air as I deftly make my way out of Malleus' study with my mate's hand clasped tightly in my hand as he stumbles behind me, suddenly clumsy on his own two feet like a struggling toddler that's just learned to walk a few moments prior. As for Ezra, he appears ten times more jittery than he usually is as he rushes alongside me, face masked into complete seriousness while he tries to prod at me with countless questions.

"Rui?"

"War General?"

"Holy shit."

I merely nod after each question and phrase, knowing the disbelief coursing through him as I finally relent whatever little information I have about the woman who I'm now one hundred percent sure is his mate. How I know for sure that the two wolves are mated to each other is something that escapes me but even my wolf is in agreement with me and leaving no doubt in my mind that the two were made for one another just as I was made for Malleus and vice versa.

"What does she look like?" Ezra questions, both awe and exasperation tainting his voice while I have to hold back a giggle. Not only from the dazed expression that flits through his brown eyes but also Malleus as he tries to grab at me with any chance he gets, only to fall over his own two feet before he automatically rights himself.

I part my lips, ready to describe the beautiful woman's' features but Ezra himself cuts me off sharply.

"Wait, wait. I don't think I want to know. I would like to keep it a secret, not spoil the surprise." He says firmly while I slowly turn my head sideways to look at him in disbelief with a single brow raised.

"Why are you acting like she's a gift from Santa Claus or something, and if I tell you, it'll 'ruin your surprise?' I mock halfheartedly, one part of me, admittedly, finding his actions and thoughts rather adorable. I come to a slow stop midway down the hall as a sudden realisation dawns on me which causes the other two men to come to a halt, much to Ezra's protest who's rearing to go.

"Why are we stopping?" Whines Ezra in discontent but I partially ignore him, peering up at a goofily grinning Malleus who immediately takes my actions as an invitation to try to kiss me silly. I Don't even realise what he's doing before it's too late and the man is practically mauling my face off like the animals we hold inside of us.

"What on God's green earth do these people give to warriors in training because I need me some of that." Ezra announces to no one in particular while I try to dislodge Malleus who moves away from me with no verbal complaints but that same adorable pout tugging at his full lips, poutier more than I've ever seen him before as he even pulls his eyebrows together and tries to give me the puppy dog look that starts pulling at my heartstrings right away.

"Naw, he looks like donkey from Shrek." The man continuous to chatter away unnecessarily while I promptly get onto my tiptoes to press a kiss onto my mate's pouty lips in the hope that it will deter him even if for a few moments. It seems to do the trick since I get awarded with a beaming smile in return while he starts inaudibly cooing at me.

Uhm.

I'm both momentarily blinded by my mate's sudden act of being cute as it preys on my heart, but also shocked at the fact that my towering intimidating mate is, well, cooing at me.

"Malleus," I start slowly, my tone coming out as that one would direct towards a little while as they try to explain something difficult to them, "Do you happen to know where Rui would be?" Ezra's frantic hand motions to get me to hurry up slowly come to a halt since he realises why I'm actually not getting my backside into gear by sniffing down his mate.

I've only met the woman once before and I know for a fact we'll end up lost if I start trying to sniff her down in such a huge castle that's filled to the brim with different sounds and scents mixing into one another.

"I can mind link her." Malleus says resolutely while I nod excitedly, resisting the urge of clapping my hands together and instead settle for the momentary pause as he tries to communicate with his War General.

'Rui, Fie's asking where you are.'

I frown deeply in confusion but then shrug it off thinking he's letting me in on the link chain as well. A few moments go by with no answer while my face goes deadpan, peering up at a confused Malleus who huffs in annoyance at the lack of answer.

"Malleus, you're mind linking me. Not Rui." I say with exasperation in my voice, not really used to my mate acting like a buffoon when he's usually one of the smartest people in the room.

"Oh." My mate says after a slight pause before erupting into rambunctious laughter, leaning over as if I just told him the funniest joke in the world.

"I guess I'll try to contact Asha instead." I say with a mumble of disbelief, not surprised that even Ezra cracks up along with Malleus since they're both at the same mental capacity right now.

'Asha?' The hesitancy in my voice of mind linking her is clear to everyone that's a witness of my timid tone but not even a few seconds later does her voice filter through and into my own head which stuns me a quite a bit.

'Oh thank God you replied. Do you know where Rui is? I need to find her ASAP.'

A moment of silence lapses which I tick off with glimpses of a still laughing Malleus and Ezra, a bit in disbelief since this would be so much easier if I could contact the woman in question herself but our bond between each others wolves is next to non existent which renders it null and void.

'She's in the gardens towards the back. Next to the stone gazebo. I'm assuming Ezra figured out they're mates.' She continues with a voice that lets me know she's smiling.

At this moment in time, I'm not even shocked by the woman knowing this since she has weird information when it comes to everyone and everything in the castle at most times. It's a bit unnerving if I do admit.

"Come on." I speak up hurriedly to the two men that are only now coming down from their fit of laughter, my hand intertwining with Malleus' once more to which he gives me a gentle squeeze and setting my poor heart off again into a hammering mess.

"Where is she?" Ezra asks, back to his serious mood as he follows behind me in a rush, practically sprinting ahead of me but stumbles back when he realises I haven't actually answered his question yet. Luckily enough, the shimmering gold doors catch my attention and when I inhale deeply, a somewhat familiar scent greets me full force alerting the fact that Asha was right and Rui is indeed a few feet ahead of us.

Ezra slows down his steps, eyes growing wide and mouth dropping open in shock as I slowly edge the door open, letting the gentle breeze outside in the garden to filter in throughout the castle to directly where we're standing.

"She's next to the gazebo." I say in a low voice, just above a whisper while Ezra's eyes glaze over, my words seemingly going from one ear and out the other.

Peering through the slightly frosted window, I'm pleasantly surprised when I take note of the fact that the rain has stopped momentarily although I'm not sure if it's Malleus' doing since he doesn't appear to be too in his senses at the moment.

"Go." I say while making a motion for the man to get his feet moving and over to his mate but he's too frozen in action. That is until the woman in question steps into view. Dressed up in black leather pants with Velcro straps that probably usually hold weapons in place, a tight black fitted tank top as she busies herself by throwing up her thick hair into a pony, flyaway hairs sticking up with the gentle wind.

"Wow." Ezra whispers as he stares at her with wide eyes, disbelief and awe colouring his expression. I find myself getting antsy with the two wolves meeting even though it's none of my business and end up shoving Ezra lightly to get a quick move on so both of their wolves can cannot once and for all.

Our little scuffle has Rui's head snapping up towards us, lips parted in question before her features slacken as she catches sight of the goofy man next to me.

"Go." I shout back to the dazed man in a hushed whisper, enjoying his gobsmacked expression that is the same as the War General's a few feet in front of me.

"Cutee." Malleus coo's from behind me, my hand tightening around his once more as a sign for him to quite down because I have a feeling the two young wolves will get spooked if you make a noise that's too loud for them.

Ezra starts moving into motion, nostrils getting wide for a split second as he inhales Rui's scent which she does so herself but with her head tilted in a sign of confusion.

I don't think she's quite figured out what's going on.

"Let's give them some privacy." I mutter a bit mournfully to an already uninterested Malleus, my curiosity itching to just get another glimpse of the couple and what they're doing, most probably still taking timid steps towards each other from apparent disbelief. But no, I already remember the prying eyes of probably a hundred people, if I may exaggerate, when it came to Malleus pretty much declaring that I'm his mate. It was almost cloying with all the hushed whispers and sneers from members of staff who wanted to give their two cents into the situation. Luckily I haven't encountered any of that behaviour since that moment. I just hope it's more to do with them getting to know me rather than Malleus threatening them to a very inch of their lives.

"Would you like to go back to our room?" Malleus questions in a very Malleus' like tone which has my suspicions raising as I pin him with my stare.

"What for? I need to pin down Asha so I can see how to get this weird effect out of you. Thankfully you're not acting too strange at the moment." I say with a barely audible mumble, already wondering where I can manage to pin down the woman. Most probably her office but what if she's trying to hide from me.

"I wouldn't mind pinning you down," my mate speaks up in a gruff voice while his arms wrap around me and I find my feet meeting thin air as I'm hoisted into his arms. Spluttering for my brain to let out audible words, I turn my wide eyed gaze to him as his own blue eyes heatedly stare back at me, "You could do all sorts of strange things to me and vice versa."

I barely process the actions that go by in a whizz as he situates me so that my legs are wrapped around his waist while he pins his frantic mouth onto my own. The motion has my eyes shutting immediately in wild want as I vigorously kiss him back, all fleeting thoughts of us making out in a public area so casually escaping me. Especially the fact that a member of staff could so easily walk in on the both of us going at it like two horny teenagers.

Fervent lips placed back on one another as I lean up slightly in his hold till I'm leaning over him this time, noticing the way he takes steps back till Malleus is nestled firmly in a nook and out of view from anyone unless they're specifically looking for us by our scents. My grip winds around Malleus' neck while his hand trails from my waist up to the curve of my spine and the other trailing down to cup my ass which catches me off guard.

"This isn't the place you know?" I question in a breathy voice but Malleus' lust paired with the weird potion he took makes all rationale fly out of the window as he merely growls back in protest, biting my lip as a warning to stop talking. I don't have any more protests as my own hands start going on their own little journey, enjoying every hard ridge and plain that meets my palms with delight. Our pace picks up and just as his tongue delves into the recesses of my mouth, a sudden thought has me pulling myself away from him.

He's not in his senses.

Me making out with him like this would be taking advantage of him since he's somewhat inebriated.

Oh God. Nope. I am not doing that.

"Fie. I swear to God." He growls out in annoyance while his grip tightens on my ass nearly making me squeal while my wolf gets excited at the prospect, purring like a cat that's after something.

"Malleus you're not in the right state of mind. Trust me, we can continue this later on but not right now." I softly say to him, pressing a gentle kiss on his pouty lips since I can tell he's getting quite worked up with not getting what he's wanted. This entire new side of him has me letting out a discreet sigh of relief that he isn't a needy whiny man child like someone else I know.

Speaking of those two, I jump down from a disgruntled Malleus' grasp and peer through the glass doors that makes it hard to see since it's spattered with water droplets as the rain starts to pick up. This time I'm the one sporting a pout since I can't catch sight of the two new mates meaning they must've gone some other place to seek shelter from the rain.

"Thank God you've both stopped making out like horny wolves." Comes the familiar voice of my 'sort of' boss, Asha who stands with a pleasant smile which contradicts the disgust that was just in her tone. "Rui contacted me to inform me that she'll be taking the rest of the day off. All matters are to be put on hold or directed to Apollo till further notice."

Her words have my pausing in place while I furrow my brows, "Wait. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I can't tell." It can't possibly mean Rui is wanting peace and quiet so she can think over her mate. That's not good. Anyone who is linked to Ezra in any way should never want peace and quiet.

"It's a good thing. Relax. Rui is with Ezra right now and they're um, bonding, for lack of a better word." Asha says rather awkwardly while I blanch, wondering if she's implying what I think she is.

"Do you mean bonding or boning?" Malleus interrupts before he interrupts into a fit of laughter, deep husky laugh reverberating around us while the man nearly keels over and if it wasn't for me clinging to him so that he doesn't topple over, he'd be currently rolling on the ground in hysterics.

Asha blinks repeatedly in shock before clearing her throat, "I never thought I'd hear Malleus say something like that." She mumbles in a soft voice while sue continues to blink herself back to reality. My own face is red with his words for some reason while swatting his hands away from being unnecessarily grabby.

"Why don't you take him back to your wing of the castle? He's not in any state of mind to work and I don't think he's going to let out of his sight for you to work. I'll send up someone with the correct vial this time so that his work doesn't go stir crazy either." I don't bother mulling over her words, already knowing I'm desperate at this point so I find myself nodding hurriedly at the woman, excusing the both of us.

"Let's hurry up to the room Fie. There's something I need to show you." The seriousness with which Malleus speak catches me off guard since this man has been anything but since the effects of the nasty vial entered his body.

"What is it?" I ask while scurrying down the long hallway, begging for the dammed thing to end so we can climb the many stairs that await us. I definitely need to tell Malleus to put an elevator in this gigantic building. It's got like a hundred floors yet no elevator? I mean I get that we're supernatural creatures that have better strength and what not than normal humans like Ron but honestly, this is too damn much.

I eye my mate from the corner of my eyes, wondering if I should simply ask him to carry me but I can't be that lazy. Can I? Dispelling all serious thoughts from my head, I hurry the both of us along with my hand still clutched tightly in his since I'm worried he'll wander off like a child and end up doing something he shouldn't be.

Thankfully we reach sooner rather than later but I already know I can't be letting out sighs of relief, especially when I step foot into the room and get up on my tiptoes to lock the door even though I know it's not going to stop a determined Malleus.

"What is it you wanted to show me?" I question hesitantly, the same serious expression on Malleus' features as he turns to me with a silent stare.

"Malleus?" I pry once more to which his lips crack into a mischievous smirk.

"I needed to show you this di-," I grab the nearest fluffiest object and throw it in the man's direction, halting all manner and forms of a hip thrust that has me burning to high heavens.

I am most definitely not going to let this affect me. Oh no.

I've already got too much on my plate as it is since something tells me Malleus is going to take awhile to get back into his usual frame of mind. I guess this is his revenge for having to deal with a drunk Fie.

This is going to be rough.

AN: How was the little insight into Malleus' crackhead personality? We all have a little inside of us I'm sure. Also I literally listened to WAP a few days ago for the first time and now it's stuck in my head. I'm being haunted by a song if that's even possible.

Question: Would you rather go back to the past or freeze a moment in time?
