Fie Wrights P. O. V

Raising one foot into the air, I being to propel my body forward and get ready to throw myself into the midst of it all. My brow furrowed in anticipation just as a loud yelp echoes throughout the large courtyard, each spectator following the opposite of my movements as they retreat further behind since they don't want to get tangled up in whatever mess is going on.

Standing on my tiptoes, I go to jump but a rough tugging sensation has me tripping backwards as I throw my head to the side to eye the taut fist which is currently clamped onto my long-sleeved covered arm. Trailing my eyes from the hand, I follow the path with a raised brow, already knowing who the hand belongs to yet wondering why the person is stopping me.

"Let him get his ass kicked." The voice whispers into my ear just as Malleus tugs me back into the cage of his arms till my back touches his front. Another sound of pain reaches my ears while a cacophony of 'oh's' echo around the place. I can't help but to cringe as even Malleus grimaces at the sight before us.

"Rui will lose her shit if she sees this Malleus. You know this as well as I do." I murmur, scooting back since I know a body will be thrown our way at any moment. My mate catches on as he motions for the surrounding crowd to follow our movements, and not even a few seconds later does a blurred body miss us by inches.

"Easy there, Apollo," Malleus voices out while I let out a sigh. At least he's speaking up now. I'm worried about Rui. I mean, of course, she is very obedient when it comes to listening to her King, but I think anyone will rip the person to shreds when it comes to their mate getting the living shit being beaten out of them.

"You'll hit the crowd if you keep throwing him this way. Aim towards the right." Malleus continues as a scoff of disbelief leaves my lips.

I will smack this man silly if he doesn't stop this in the next second.

"Ezra." I call out wearily, eyeing the man a few feet away from me as he pushes himself up onto his knees, waving a hand in the air to cut me off.

"I can handle him." Ezra calls out in a hoarse voice, my gaze flicking from Ezra's pitying form and over to Apollo, who hasn't even broken out into a sweat.

He is the Director General to Rui after all, so I'm sure he's as trained in war tactics and battles as much as Rui. This also won't end well for him, since Rui will undoubtedly be beating some sense into her junior.

"She'll be back soon, you know." I say, my voice reaching both Malleus and Ezra, the latter tensing but then waving me off entirely.

"It was Ezra's idea anyway, I think he'll be fine."

Another sigh escapes me as I bow my head low, the wince ever present on my face as my cousin gets thrashed about here and there. I know Ezra wanted to... train for a lack of a better word and persisted in doing his best to nag the incredibly intimidating man also known as Rui's first in command and Asha's towering mate. The man had the curtesy to say no multiple times and even seemed rather shy while denying my cousin but at long last; he gave into Ezra's whines, which ended up in the poor man getting the daylights being beaten out of him. I get the fact that Ezra want's to prove something to his mate even though she hasn't shown any signs of wanting anything of the sorts but I guess he wants to show her he too is capable of putting up a good fight. Although what everyone is seeing in front of their own very eyes, signifies the exact opposite.

"I think this verges on the borderline of cruelty. Maybe even animal abuse." I mutter thoughtfully, catching the tremors which Ezra tries to hold back since the sparring rules were laid down to only involve fists and not claws or other werewolf traits. A mere dual between the human side of us, rather boring actually but nonetheless, a painful sight to see considering Ezra's face is being beaten to a bloody pulp.

"We're not even married yet, and you're already stopping me from all the fun I can get in my life." Malleus groans from behind me, the vibrations travelling through as my mouth opens in shock from his words.

"I'll show you fun, you little wretch." I grumble under my breath but clearly not low enough since I get a view of the humourous stares my way from the people standing beside us, obviously eavesdropping onto the conversation.

Malleus ignores the people around us and settles down by placing the weight of his head onto mine as he props up his chin. I can already tell what is about to come, the change in atmosphere something I've managed to pick up over time ever since Malleus asked me to help him with healing my luna. I'm not sure if it's the mate bond or something else entirely, but I'm sure it's got something to do with the heightened senses I've acquired since I've come to this realm.

Glancing up at the sunny skies, my eyelids lower down into a squint at the glaring sun, which won't last another second. True to my words, the skies begin to darken as they turn from a beautiful, cheerful gold and into a calm and peaceful grey as the mottled colours change with the quickly approaching clouds packed full with torrents, shaking with excitement as thick droplets roll down and splatter all around us.

A chorus of groans rises up from the eagerly watching participants as Apollo straightens out his offensive stance, hands dropping to his sides from the upright, poised position they were in moments ago. Ezra doesn't do much but lay there, feebly watching the extended hand which Apollo offers him. The man isn't only topped to the brim with brawn as he catches on quick, bending down and lugging the tired and beaten man over his shoulder before turning to us.

The crowd has scattered by now, the torrent getting faster but not a drop landing on Malleus or I which earns us a few suspicious looks. I guess no one has caught on to the fact that their King controls the weather. I guess people miss what's lying right under their noses.

Turning around in my mate's arms, I bat my lashes at the man who watches on in caution, already knowing I'm going to say something he won't be looking forward to in the slightest.

"You know," I begin in a low tone as I run my pointer finger up Malleus' chest, smiling as he gets completely distracted from something as simple as my finger. I ignore the groans of sounds erupting from behind us as I continue on, "It's been a while since I've spared myself. I don't what to become rusty and unable to protect myself and others around me." I finish as Malleus loosens his arms from around me.

"I'm not even going to bother saying no. I'll just dodge and you can try to attack me." At my unamused expression, he hurriedly clears his throat and gives me a wry smile, "What I meant was that I'll be on the defence and you can be on the offence." He clears and I nod in acceptance, I guess I can live with that.

Going over to where Apollo stands as still as a statue with a hazy looking Ezra, I watch as the rain lessens its torrents into a steady trickle as we give the other some space to shift into our fighting stances.

I mimic Malleus stance with a few changes of my own but more or less with my legs spread out, my feet angled and placed wider than the position of my hips with my knees facing the same direction and my body loose, not too taut as I bring my fists up in front of me while squaring my shoulders.

'Chin down, head up,' I remember promptly just as Malleus motions to me with his hand, beckoning me forth to attack him. Apollo takes a few steps backwards, too intrigued on our little sparring moment to take a groaning Ezra to the Mages so they can patch him up.

Lunging at my mate who is the picture of ease, I bring my fisted hand forward already knowing it's not going to hit him since my actual target is the side of his torso as I go to raise my leg to roundhouse kick him in the ribs. The sweet moment of victory feels like it will never come because it doesn't since instead, I feel myself being roughly pulled backwards, a hand latching onto my arm as they twist it behind my back. I would have toppled forward if not for the harsh grip I'm entrapped in.

I begin to cuss out my mate in my head, wondering how on Earth he moved so fast to come up behind me and manage to trap me but all those words cease aimlessly as I look up at the spot where my mate was only to see him, still there

What?

Who the hell has gotten ahold of me?

Twisting my arm in the harsh grip, I try to tilt my head back to get an eyeful of who's caught onto me but an awfully familiar sensation has me stopping in my tracks. An ice cold object touching the crease of my neck with a sting that would have blood sliding down my skin if I make any untowards movements. This is one situatuion I never wanted to find myself in but I guess we can't all get what we want.

"Fie." Malleus breaths out, eyes turning wild and skin turning taut over tensed muscles.

"Ezra!" Rui's voice shouts out from a few feet away from me just as she steps into my line of sight, her worried eyes going to her beaten up mate who tries to dissuade her by sending her a blood filled smile. She lets out a worried sigh but halts her movements as she catches sight of a nearly out of control Malleus before trailing over to me, eyes widening in horror.

"Fie!" She calls out just as she switches her gaze to the person holding me captive, her head shaking a mile a minute while Rui chokes out garbled words.

"She's the queen! Let go of her unless you want to be decapitated in the next second." Rui voices out urgently while the grip on my arm and neck softens a tad. I take that as my chance to get away but I barely move an inch before theI'the tight grip returns back.

"Listen to Rui and let my mate go." Malleus says in a low and controlled manner, his voice a little too calm for the situation that is currently going on.

A few beats of silence pass by before a cold breeze greets my back where somebody stood just moments ago. Whizzing around the next second, I furrow my brows in utter confusion when there's no one there. Turning back around again, all I see is a world of black since Malleus practically shoves me into his broad chest, my body groaning in pain at the tight hug I'm greeted with.

"Apologize." Hisses Rui's voice full of worry.

Moving back a few inches till I'm not breathing in only cotton and my mate's scent, I move my body around to see who it exactly.

Next to Rui stands a person clothed in all black and much like when I first saw my mate, he's covered from head to toe in a black leathery cloak, nothing else visible, not even the skin of his hands since they're covered in black gloves.

A nudge from Rui to the ribs has the person dropping down onto their knees, a clenched fist clasped to their heart as they keep their head bowed in a sign of respect.

"Um, it's fine really. I'm sure they were just trying to protect Malleus. This isn't the first time it's happened." I let out a low laugh only to stop awkwardly at the silence I'm greeted with.

The sound of a body hitting the ground has Rui running over to her bruised and battered mate while Malleus takes a step towards the cloaked figure who raises themselves onto their feet.

"I'd say I'm glad that you're here and decided to join us, but you did just a hold a dagger to my mate's neck." Malleus says with an edge to his words before glancing down to me while I reach a hand to my neck, rubbing at the spot where the sharp knife nearly cut my head from off of my body.

"Fie meet Rui's brother's. I'm assuming this mean's he's decided to join us?" Malleus directs his words to Rui, who is currently too busy fretting over her mate while scolding Apollo, the latter with his head down and nodding his words at the woman's scoldings.

"You could have just pushed him around a bit, you didn't have to actually beat him up," Rui says as she grabs ahold of Ezra and slings one of his arms around her shoulders so she can carry him as she then turns her attention to Malleus while Apollo swears that he did exactly that; push Ezra around a bit.

Rui's brother stands deathly still, you wouldn't even think he's breathing if it weren't literally impossible to not do so.

"Yes. I managed to convince him to come along otherwise I would have no choice but to stay with him till he agreed. Of course he did so immediately." Rui says before asking for dismissal to take Ezra to the hospital wing. Malleus promptly allows her while I continue to eye the man under the cloak. He seems more intimidating then when I first saw Malleus perched on his throne and that's saying something.

"You can make yourself comfortable in the room you usually stay at. I'm sure you've had a long journey so freshen up and meet me in my office in an hour or so." Rui's brother seems to want to do anything but that as he hesitates for a few moments but then lowers his head in another exagerrated bow before stalking off in lithe distinct movements. I turn around to spot Apollo but he's nowhere to be seen, his scent stale in the air to show he must have stalked off as soon as Rui did.

"I mean to say this in the least offensive way possible," I begin slowly while watching Malleus nodding his head asif he already gets what I'm trying to say, "Why is Rui's brother so, you know?" I finish lamely.

"I have no idea. Keir's always been like that. He doesn't like being around people so he moves around from place to place. Only Rui manages to get into contact with him and sometimes he answers to me when I call for him." He says as we make our way into the castle and to his study where we spend quite a bit of our time together.

"Keir?" I ask, picking up on that first and foremost.

"That's what people call him," Malleus says with a shrug before tilting his head to the side, "That or wolf."

I scoff in incredulity, "Wolf? People decided to call a werewolf wolf? That's like me deciding to call him Rogue because he's a lone werewolf." My tone comes off sarcastic just as I intend it to but Malleus poses right in front of his study door with a look of intrigue on his face.

"That's actually a pretty cool name. Maybe I should start calling him Rogue." The deadpan and unimpressed expression on my face flies over him entirely as he turns and enters his office, muttering about Rogue and how cool a name it is.

"You know," Malleus begins with a thoughtful look on his face as he deposits himself on his chair and spreads his legs to allow me to comfortably sit on his lap which I do so with ease. Angling my body, I slip my legs in the holes that occupy the back end of the high backed chair so that I can sit comfortably while facing him, eager to know what he's about to say, "I've always wanted to be called something else. Although I've never thought of what else I'd like to be called. All I know is that Malleus is so boring." He says with a frown on his face just as I inch forward, a fiery blaze in my eyes as I press a kiss to the corner of his lips before trailing my way up to his ear. Biting down on his ear lobe, a smirk makes its way to my face as I whisper words into his ear that have him squeezing my hips for dear mercy.

"Maybe I should really start calling you daddy?"

The groan escaping from my mate's lips have me letting out a low chuckle, enjoying the way Malleus completely melts into me at something as simple as a few words.

"Sadly for you; I don't have a daddy kink." I say with a shrug of my shoulder. My amused smirk halts in place however, the glow in Malleus' eyes not only animalistic but almost like a promise that I'll be taking back those words soon enough.

"Don't worry my little Queen. I'm sure I can change that pretty little mind of yours." This time I'm the one on the other end of the teasing line as I think back over his words.

I sure as hell don't have a daddy kink but is there something called having a Queen kink?

AN: I watched Shrek while typing this chapter out, don't mind me y'all.

What do you think should go down in the romance aspects between Malleus and Fie? I think it's going a bit dry. Let me know if you have any ideas!

Question: Would you rather be surrounded by people who brag all the time or people who complain all the time?
