Fie Wright's P. O. V

I'm not one to be petty.

Okay, scratch that. I am petty at times but only when I feel as if the person deserves it. I had only planned that my little silent treatment would go on for another half hour or so but Malleus dig himself a grave six foot deeper into the ground.

Why?

Well, after the both of us had woken up from mid morning nap considering it was only eleven in the morning when we actually woke up; he just so had to turn my mood sour in an instant. I was excited about my coronation and being show off to the rest of Realm as being Malleus' mate. The possessive side of me- which I like to shove deep down- rearing it's head so it can gloat to everyone just how perfect my mate is even though he can be as equally dense as me, if not more at times.

The moment arms wrapped tighter around me and soft plush lips were pressed gently to my neck, I could feel through the mate bond that this wasn't just Malleus being affectionate as he usually is.

I hum in content, trying to quell the feelings pushing through the mate bond as I turn to him, lips moving to press against mine instead. Waking me up vigorously from the deep nap I was just in. "Good morning." I mumble sleepily while threading my fingers through his hair, smiling softly as he lets out a low groan of content.

"Morning, gorgeous." He says in a voice thick with sleep since too had gotten up probably a few minutes before he woke me up.

"Is everything okay?" I mumble sleepily, trying to get rid of my bleary eyesight.

Malleus stills for a few moments before letting out a loud sigh and giving me one last kiss as he then rolls away from me.

"My parents will be here in two hours." His words have the hair on my body raising, heart lurching in my chest. I splutter around, trying to form somewhat of a coherent sentence.

Sitting up rather dramatically in bed, my wide eyes fix onto him before I hesitantly glance around the room so I can locate the mirror and assess the mess which I have to sadly call myself. "Today? As in they're arriving within two hours, today?" I ask my redundant questions while Malleus nods with a wince, his hair sticking up in odd directions making me want to run my hands through the soft strands.

"Please tell me you didn't know beforehand." I groan out loud while racking my hands down my face, all traces of sleep vanishing in an instant if you don't count my haphazard attire.

The prolonged silence has my lips thinning, mate bond sparking with annoyance which we clearly feels. The sheepish smile on his face enough to let me know that the fact just slipped his mind.

"Are you insane, Malleus? You knew they were coming and didn't tell me? I have to prepare. Not only are they the former King and Queen but they're your parents damn it." I huff while hurriedly standing up, nearly stumbling over the covers which get caught in my feet and practically sending me flying.

"It's not a big deal." Malleus tries to make out, eyes watching my every move while I let out another scoff.

"Not a big deal? Don't you remember how freaked out you were when you met my parents?" Granted there weren't any markings then which let us feel the proper extent of our feelings but I know my mate well enough to know just how on edge he was at the prospect of meeting the parents.

I guess the whole ordeal transcends through most barriers.

Oh God.

I don't even know if older people generally tend to like me. What if they find me annoying? What if they tell Malleus to find another mate because I'm not good enough for him?

Well tough shit. They'll have to pry my cold dead fingers off of him before they try to think anything of the sort, let along put the plan into action.

"Fie. Just calm down-,"

"Calm down?" I practically shriek with no sense of calm in my voice. Shaking my head rapidly, I get out of my bed and trudge towards the bathroom, each step heavy with determination.

I can be nothing but calm at this moment. My wolf is freaking out on the inside, scared our mate's parents might turn their nose up at us and I share the same thoughts. Not only that but considering the fact that our close coronation, it means only one thing; mating.

Now I'm wound up for a whole different reason.

I'll take a quick run.

I'm sure that will help both me and my wolf.

My mind was definitely set on one goal as I get out of the shower only to push through a multitude of clothes in the closet. Searching vigorously for a baggy t-shirt and a pair of leggings that I don't mind sacrificing if worse comes to worst when I shift.

"I'm going on a run. I'll be back before your parents are here." I inform Malleus who nods all while not moving a single inch from the bed. I hesitate while fixing the end of my shirt before shrugging and not wanting to upset my mate too much. I rush to him and place a soft kiss on his cheek, biting back a smile as he relaxes significantly, arm raising up to squeeze round my mid waist which I quickly bat away.

"I'll wait for you. Don't be too long." He says just as I remove my lips from his cheek, partly covered by a light shadow which I'm sure he'll shave away soon.

Sad, I quite like him with some stubble.

It almost feels like the tension in my body is building up with each step towards the back gardens. My wolf scratching at my inner mind to practically let her go so she can take control and run for hours. It only takes five minutes for me to rush to the gardens but five minutes too long since I don't even get a chance to strip, my wolf bursting from the inside out while letting the clothes cascade to ribbons all around us.

The ruffling of the wind in my fur, ears flopping about as they lay loose on my head while my claws dig deep into the wet soil below me. I don't stop the wolfish grin when the barely present rain fastens into a calming drizzle, immediately lowering the temperature within me as my wolf pants out with exertion.

I run for what feels like only fifteen minutes, but I know the reality is closer to an hour. My wolf whining at me woefully, saddened that her brisk run in the woods has ended so quickly.

"Can you come back, please?" Malleus' voice echoes in my head to which I let out a slightly annoyed huff.

"I'm already on my way back." I inform him, the mind link still remaining open although none of us bother talking. It's almost like a mental surety that the other person is still there.

Instead of the nice trot I was sporting the entire way back, I practically sprint up to to the garden before faulting in my steps.

Shit.

I can't run into the castle butt naked. I nor Malleus would like that and I don't plan on trailing mud through the expensive carpets and flooring which probably costs an arm and a leg.

'I'm coming down with some clothes. Give me a second." Malleus inputs through the mind link without me having to ask otherwise. I let out a low chuff, showing my appreciation for his thoughtful acts.

Shifting from one paw to the next, I go to take a step forward when my once floppy ears perk up at the sound of footsteps. Turning around, I crane both my eyes and ears to catch anything that'll help me identify who's coming.

It's certainly not Malleus.

The scent is all wrong and even though I can't see them, I can smell that there are three people. Wolves to be more precise.

A sudden thought enters my mind, thinking it could be my mate's parents but I brush that off since I know they won't be trekking through the back woods and into the castle from behind. They're the ex King and Queen for heavens sake, they'll be arriving by procession.

I hope.

I really should have gotten more information out of Malleus, damn it. This is what happens when you decide to be petty instead of being a mature adult.

Too deep into my thoughts, I don't notice the sound of one set of footsteps gaining speed. Hell I wouldn't have even time to process if I was focused with the way the wolf charges and zooms towards me. My eyes widen in shock, the previous empty garden now full of one shaggy gray wolf marching right towards me.

I just about get a chance to brace myself as the wolf launches itself through the air, it's sharp fangs scrapping the side of my neck but enough to draw blood. Lowering onto all fours, I let out a large snarl, signalling the wolf to back off.

I'm already on edge from my too be in-laws arrival. I will snap this mangy mutts neck off if it pisses me off too much.

The wolf hears my warning and I can see the inner struggle as their eyes flicker, the wolf wanting to obey me but the human side pestering on. Once again I see it's back legs digging into the soil to help propel its launch towards me.

I brace myself once more, my own fangs bearing and ready to rip into the animal's flesh which is practically begging for its head to get ripped off. My wolf comes to the forefront more than ever before, her own wants full of a gluttonous desire to have the opposing wolf's blood coating our teeth.

Never have I felt such violence before but it spurs me on, my mouth almost watering at the pent up tension to taste flesh and blood. It's only a span of a few seconds as the wolf springs through the air, nearing me while my own maw opens as wide as possible, ready to clamp down.

Unfortunately all my teeth land on is air as they gnash together, no flesh meeting my fangs and not even a drop of blood. My wolf reels back, not liking the clang which courses through us due to the intensity of our bite which only hurts us instead. My eyes, however, follow the wolf hurtling to my left, smacking into a marble statue which falls like a crumpled up piece of paper.

Unable to stop myself, I snarl at my mate, angry he took the opportunity from us. I was ready to bite at my opponent but all he did was bat it away with his forearm as if it was some sort of fly.

You would expect a sane person to take multiple steps back when a wolf snarls in their face but Malleus doesn't give it a second thought when he strokes the side of my face. My wolf cutting off my snarling as if it were rude of me to do so.

Disloyal bitch.

"Come near my mate again like that next time and I won't hesitate dismembering your head from your body." Malleus grits out with a guttural snarl at the end of his words.

"Now. Now. I know Clarissa was out of line but is that any way to speak to your cousin." Comes a feminine voice that has me freezing in seconds.

I'm petrified of even turning around.

Nope. No.

An intermingled scent similar to that of my mate's hits my nose and I berate myself for not realising it sooner.

One of the set of footsteps belonged to his cousin which means the other two...

I really didn't expect to be meeting my mate's parents this way. Definitely not like a blood thirsty cliché werewolf practically foaming at the mouth with anger.

Immediately my wolf turns docile, shoulders dropping from her haughty stance as she nuzzles herself into my mate like a picture perfect mate, eyes wide and shimming with innocence.

"Mother. Father. I should have expected you wouldn't come in the normal fashion." Malleus let's out a deep sigh.

I'm too scared to look back.

Unfortunately, it's not up to me to shield myself from Malleus' parents as they come around to greet me instead. Lips pulled into smiles as the more masculine one of the two laughs in a deep voice.

"I like you. You're a strong wolf." This instantly causes my wolf to push out her chest and chuff while I blush bright red. Both at the man's words and the fact that my wolf never ceases to make me cringe with embarrassment.

I try not to make my once over too obvious as I drink in the sight of his parents who chuckle at my wolf's antics. Malleus' father looks like the spitting image of him, ranging from his tall and wide structure to the jet black hair and the dark eyes which are alight with mirth. His mother on the other hand was copper brown hair and piercing blue eyes with two dimples popping at the sides of her cheeks. I wouldn't say she's tiny but rather tall and nearly meeting her mate when it comes to height.

They appear friendly but that doesn't mean I'm not intimidated at all.

"We'll let you shift and get comfortable, Fie. Take your time please. Honey, please grab Clarissa. I don't want to get my hands dirty." Malleus' mother says politely while turning on her heel. Her mate staring after her fondly before dipping his head at me and Malleus. I don't take my eyes off of the couple as Malleus' father stops promptly at the unconscious wolf, grabbing her by the scruff of the neck and pulling her into the castle.

"They already adore you from the moment they set eyes on you much like I. There was nothing to worry about Fie." Malleus tries to coax me but I huff, deciding to shift instead of trying to answer him.

As soon as I'm back on my own two feet, Malleus slips a navy blue shirt over my head and presses a kiss to my forehead. Inhaling my scent deeply before he steps back, eyes narrowing. A soft brush of his hand against my neck already has me knowing why his gaze turns dark.

"It's just a scrape. Calm down." I admonish while grabbing his hand and intertwining our fingers.

I need all the support I can get at the moment.

"Let's go meet the future in laws."

Malleus and I both can hear the gulp which makes its way down my throat.

AN: I apologise for well everything... My exams are over now though so yay! I'll be posting maybe one more chapter ASAP (within the week) and then the epilogue or I'll just jump straight to the epilogue and then have bonus chapters.

Question: Would you rather pee through your mouth every time or have your best friend pee into your mouth one time?
