The water has turned cold and my skin is all wrinkly but I don't bother. My mind goes over the plan again, running through it, searching for loopholes that we missed. It was a risky plan but it was also our best option. Infiltrating Connor's compound was going to be difficult since it was huge but we had the numbers on our side. Luciano wanted me to stay home and keep Liam blocked out but I needed to be on site. I could hack into their server from inside the house. After all, they would need me when we got into his operations room. Turning of the water, I step out from the shower and towel myself off. Slipping into one of Luciano's T-shirt's that I stole, I walk out into my room and stop short when I notice the brown package on my bed. Drawing my gun, I immediately head to the balcony but the door is locked from the inside meaning that the intruder came from inside the house. Opening my door, I step out into the hallway but it's empty and quiet. Heart racing, I step back into my room and look closely at the package. Gingerly searching for any indication that it might contain explosives and finding none, I open it. A few pictures slide out causing my anger to rise when I look through them. They're all pictures of Frankie, at school, play dates. Someone's been tailing the boy for the past week and none of us caught on. A letter slides out, neatly typed out. Its time for you to take your rightful place beside Connor or the boy will pay for your sins. My fists automatically crumples the paper in pure rage as I sit down on my bed. How dare he threaten my little man. No wonder Connor was so quiet this past week, he had a mole within our organisation and we had no clue as to who it was. There was no telling what information Connor had acquired. A part of me wanted to call an emergency meeting but I couldn't risk tipping off the mole. Luciano had full faith in his men and I respected that but I didn't know them well enough. And I hadn't been brought up in the mafia. Knowing Luciano, his first thought would be that the mole was one of nikolai's men. Either way, it was too risky. I had to handle this myself. Shoving the pictures back into the envelope, I stuff them under my pillow knowing that no one would look there as I hadn't been sleeping in my room for days now. I take a deep breath to compose myself and head up to Luciano's room. He's already in bed waiting for me, a book in his hands. He takes one look at me and his brows furrow. It was times like this that I hated how well he could read me. "Amore, you okay?" "I'm fine. Just feeling tired." He nods dubiously and I know I need to distract him before he starts asking more questions. I hated lying to him but I needed to keep them safe. Climbing into bed, I snuggle closer, planting a kiss on him. "Nights Vincenzo." He pulls me close, planting a kiss on my head. "Nights baby." Luciano's asleep within minutes and I take that opportunity to study his face. I had a plan but it could end with me never returning back to him. Tonight may very well be my last night with him and I intended to commit it to memory. Hearing his heartbeat steadily pounding though his chest, I close my eyes, breathing in his signature scent and revelling in his warmth. I would need this memory in order to get through tomorrow.
Feather light touches all over my face arouse me from my slumber. Groggily opening my eyes, a smile crosses my lips as Luciano's hair comes into vision. He continues planting kisses on my face, moving down to my neck making me giggle. "Good morning baby." I say running my fingers through his hair. His reply comes in the form of a open mouthed kiss right at the sensitive spot on my neck. Letting out a low moan, I feel him smirk before capturing my lips in his. Panting and breathless after our morning make out session, I run my fingers through his hair as he lays his head on my chest, the both of us enjoying each other's company in silence. Memories of last night float into my thoughts and I mentally sigh. I place a kiss on his head, making him look up at me. "You're the best thing that's ever happened to me. You know that right?" Luciano scans my face, and I can see the gears turning in his head. He knows somethings not right, he just hasn't figured out what yet. I do the only thing I know that will distract him which is to kiss him. Hard. It works but I knew Luciano well. He wouldn't let this go that easily.
Luciano's in the shower and I head back to my room to do the same. Taking a quick shower, I get dressed in a pair of skinny jeans, black tank top and a leather jacket. Throwing my hair up into a ponytail, I grab the envelope from under my table placing it on my bed. I knew that this would be the first place he would look when he realises that I'm missing. Ripping a blank piece of paper from a notebook that was laying around, I write a quick note to Luciano.
Hey Vincenzo. By the time you read this, I'll already be in Connor's grip. You have a mole, Vince. I don't know who it is but I'm going to end this. Once and for all. Promise me you won't come after me. Protect the others especially little man and protect the mafia. I have a plan but I don't know if I'm gonna be able to come home after this. Yes, I know I finally said it. Home. That's what you've given me and I couldn't be luckier. Give the others a hug for me. Thank you. Ti amo baby.
Forever yours, Alessandra.
Wiping the lone teardrop from my cheek, I place the letter on top of the envelope. Not bothering to take any other weapon other than my gun since I would be stripped bare the moment I was caught, I head out of my room. I'm halfway to the garage when Emilia calls out to me. "Alessa. Where you going?" Plastering a smile on my face, I turn around impulsively giving her a hug. "Morning. I was just gonna grab something from the car. Left it there last night." "Oh, I'll come with you." "Actually, Luciano wanted to see you." She looks at me in confusion and I hold my breath, hoping my lame excuse will work. Thankfully, she nods slightly dubiously. "Okay. I'll go see what he wants." "Okay. I'll be there in a minute." She turns around for his office and I know I only have a matter of minutes before Luciano comes out. Dashing to the garage, I grab the first pair of keys I see, pressing the unlock button. It's the BMW and I thank the gods above. Slipping into the drivers seat, I rev the engine and speed out of the garage. The guards at the gate open the gates without a word when they see me, already used to me. Checking my rear view mirror and finding no one tailing me, I speed towards Connor's compound, ready to end this.
3rd person POV Luciano's fingers aimlessly twirl the pen in his hand, not listening to a word that Angelo is saying "Don?" Angelo stops mid sentence when he notices his friends gaze is elsewhere. Luciano doesn't respond, still deep in thought. "Luciano?" Luca calls out again and his gaze focuses on them, shaking his head slightly. "Yeah?" "You ok? You kinda zoned out there for a minute." He nods his head, clearing his throat. "I'm fine. Have the Crips paid for their weapons?" Angelo and Luca share a look, not believing their friend but choose to soldier on. Angelo answers, "yes Don. 2 million was deposited in our accounts this morning." Luciano doesn't say a word, seeming to be distracted once again. Luca huffs, opening his mouth to ask his cousin what was wrong for real when a knock on the door shifts their attention. "Come in, tesoro. You don't have to kn-" The door opens revealing Emilia. Luciano stops mid sentence when he realises its not Alessa. "Baby. Is everything okay?" Angelo says worriedly and Emilia walks over to him, her gaze on her brother. "Yeah. You wanted to see me?" "Huh?" Luciano looks at her slightly confused. Emilia looks confused now, "Alessa told me you wanted to see me." "No I didn't- wait, where is she?" Luciano sits up straight and everyone's puzzled at his behaviour. "She was getting something from the car when I saw her. She said you wanted to see me and that she-" "Merda." Luciano is out of his chair before Emilia can even finish her sentence. "Luciano!" He ignores their yells, sprinting to the garage. His eyes immediately zero in on the missing BMW and he whips his phone out. "Did Alessandra leave the compound?" "D-Don. Yes, she left 2 minutes ago." "Fuck." He hangs up, running his fingers roughly through his hair. He knew something was up with her last night but he didn't want to push it. He should have trusted his gut feeling that something was terribly wrong. "Don. What's going on?" Angelo, Luca and Emilia appear in the door way. "She left." Is all he can say. "What? Maybe she went out to get something." Emilia says trying to console her brother. "Did you try calling her?" Luca asks and Luciano nods in frustration. "Her phone is switched off. Angelo, track the BMW." Angelo nods heading back into the house. Luciano storms up the stairs into her room, flinging the door open. His steely grey eyes scan the room, noticing that all her stuff was still here. Maybe she did just go out for a bit." A voice in his head says but his instincts know that that's was not the case. Then, his gaze notices the brown envelope on her bed. Opening it, his heart stops when he sees the pictures of his nephew. A crumpled note falls out into his palm. The bold words ignites a rage he's never felt before. He's about to punch the wall when a piece of paper peeks out from under the envelope. Picking it up, he immediately recognises Alessandra's handwriting. His fingers start to tremble as he sinks to his knees, his world falling apart. Why would she do this? Why would she give herself up knowing that he was gonna kill her? She's protecting you. All of you.
"Don?" Angelo's voice is quiet and low, pain as he sees his best friend and boss in pain on his knees. Luciano doesn't say a word, turning around to meet his gaze blankly. "The BMW was ditched a mile away from Connor's compound." Luciano closes his eyes, the last of his hope fading away. She really was doing this. Taking a deep breath, he stands up regaining his composure. He was Luciano Moretti for fucks sake. Connor was an idiot if he thought he could threaten his family and hold Alessandra hostage without any consequences. He was the Don of the Italian mafia and the whole world was about to know that.
"Gather the men in the ops room now and call Nikolai." Angelo nods without a word. He had never seen his friend so angry and determined. This was the Luciano Moretti that the world feared. Within minutes, all of Luciano's men were gathered, ready for action. Nikolai and his men were already here too, having been on the way to discuss somethings with Luciano. Luciano stands at the front of the room, his presence commanding attention and intimidating everyone. "This morning, Connor O'Sullivan made a threat against my family. A deadly one. I know that we have a mole within our ranks." The men stiffen, looking around the room. Nikolai scans the room too. Luciano's gaze is icy and his voice is deadly as he gazes at the room.
"Rest assured, I will find out who you are and you will regret going against me. But right now, I have a more pressing issue. Connor has your Donna." This causes murmurs of shock to ripple through the room. The men had all come to love Alessandra as one of their own and this was worrying for them. Luciano scans the room looking for any clue as to the mole is. However, all his men looked genuinely shocked and worried. This made him happy to know that maybe the mole wasn't one of his but he also knew that the mole was an incredible actor to have gotten away this long. "What's the plan Luciano?" Nikolai is enraged, his entire demeanour deadly. "It's simple. We get her back and kill that son of a bitch." Nikolai smirks, rubbing his hands gleefully. He nods at Luciano, a silent pact between the two men. Connor was not gonna see the sun rise tomorrow. The beast was out for his blood and it would only be tamed when Alessandra was back in his arms safe.
