"She was the mole? Really?" I stare at Luciano in shock, as he nods grimly. "What-how?" "Connor approached her at some club and flipped her. I'm pretty sure they were sleeping together but yeah, Brianna was the mole. She had it in for you and she wanted to exact revenge on me for not making her my Donna."
"I gotta admit, I never saw that coming." "Who did you think was the mole?" "Honestly, I had no idea. I thought it might be one of your men who wanted to climb the ranks the easy way." "I'm not gonna lie to you baby, my mind kept going through all my men and any reason they would have to do this. I'm just glad it wasn't one of them. Loyalty is very important in this business." I nod in agreement. We could be the strongest mafia in the world but if our own house was chaos, it would be our downfall.
"I've been meaning to ask you. Why don't you redecorate our room?" Luciano looks at me as I attempt to sit comfortably on his couch in his office. All my injuries had pretty much healed but my broken ribs were gonna take a little longer. They weren't as painful anymore but it still felt uncomfortable when I sat for too long. He notices my wince and immediately rushes to my side. "Why don't you go -" "I swear to god Vincenzo, if you tell me to go lie down, I will strangle you." I send him a sharp glare, making him gulp a little. "But-" "I'm fine. I'm not disabled. I know you love me but you're smothering me." Which was true. Ever since that day, all of them were fussing over me like a little child. I wasn't allowed to do any work or cook. I didn't have a job anymore since I quit the CCC but they wouldn't even let me near a laptop to do..anything. I was grateful and I knew they were just taking care of me but I was still getting used to all this. And I was going stark crazy in the house.
A look of understanding dawns on Luciano's face as he takes a seat beside me, pulling me gently on his lap. "I'm sorry dolchezza. I just hate seeing you hurt." Sighing, I lean against his warm hard chest, inhaling that signature cologne that I love so much. "I'm sorry too. I didn't mean to snap. It's just so frustrating not feeling like my usual self. And I know you guys mean well but hovering over me is starting to make me feel antsy."
He places a kiss on my head before cupping my cheek. "I understand. I promise to not hover and I'll tell the others too." "Thank you. Now what were you saying about your room?" "Our room. I was thinking you could redecorate it. Make it ours." A smile blooms across my face without warning. "Really?" Luciano chuckles at my excitement. "I didn't know you love interior designing." "I don't. I'm so bored I might start spring cleaning." He laughs shaking his head at me. "Damn and you hate cleaning." "Exactly." "So how do you want our room to be?" "Do what you want amore. I'll be happy as long as you're happy." A mischievous thought creeps into my head and I look at him innocently. "I was thinking of repainting your black wall with a pink shade." Luciano pales a little but quickly puts on his poker face. "I thought you hated pink and black was your favourite colour." "It is but I feel like a black wall is too masculine y'know. And a light pink would look beautiful with some lacy curtains. Maybe change the furniture to white instead of the oak that we have now." It takes everything in me to keep a straight face. Luciano looks terrified, absolutely regretting his decision but the poor guy is trying his best to not show it. He swallows hard before nodding. "That..that sounds lovely baby." I give him a sweet peck before getting off his lap. "I'll go discuss this with the girls. I'm sure they'll have some amazing ideas as well." He manages a weak smile and I shut the door behind me. Only when I reach the kitchen, so I allow myself to burst out in laughter. Emilia and Giada are in there preparing dinner and they look at me wide eyed when they see me walk in, clutching my stomach in hysterics.
"I think she's finally gone crazy." Emilia mock whispers to her mother who swats her arm. "Sweetie, everything okay?" I hold a finger up, asking them to give me a minute to catch my breath. Taking a deep breath, I perch on the bar stool at the island. With a mischievous grin plastered on my face, I proceed to tell them my plan.
It's been a busy few weeks. My ribs have healed completely and I've been hitting the gym daily, working my ass off to get back to full strength. Luciano had officially appointed me as their IT specialist for the mafia and his dealings as well as his business partner. Unofficially, I was his sounding board and his safe harbour. We made a good team and could always know what the other one was thinking which helped a lot when it came to making business decisions and running the mafia. He even surprised me with my own office right beside his so I could have my own privacy but not be too far away from his clingy ass.
Stretching my body languidly against the satin sheets, I open my eyes to the empty spot next to me. Furrowing my eyebrows, I look towards the bathroom but it's empty. However, Luciano's spot is still warm so that means he couldn't have left long ago. I knew he had been indulging me this past month since we became official. He was a busy guy who was always receiving phone calls and updates so him not being in bed despite the early timing wasn't unusual. I had been waking up alone this last week but This was part of the life and I couldn't complain. I wasn't going to because he was worth it.
Once I brushed my teeth and did my business, I threw on his huge hoodie and headed downstairs to the kitchen. The house was quiet since it was still early and Magdalene had the day off since it was Sunday. I hear someone cooking in the kitchen. Thinking it's one of the girls, I head in but to my surprise, it's Luciano. There's a tray of food on the counter and it looks like he's frying bacon. I quietly watch him from the entryway, admiring the quiet yet confident way he moved around the kitchen, completely unaware that I was there. Unfortunately, the heavenly smell of bacon is too much for my stomach to bear as it lets out a slight rumble. He turns around surprised, smiling when he sees me.
"Good morning amore." I saunter up to him, wrapping my arms around him from behind. Snuggling into his muscular back, I breathe in his signature scent, revelling in the bliss and calm that overcomes me.
"I didn't mean to wake you. I was gonna bring you breakfast in bed." "Ooh breakfast in bed. What did I do to deserve that?" He brings his arm around me, pulling me into his side. "For just being you." Narrowing my eyes at him, I lean back a little. "Okay Moretti. Fess up, what did you do?" He laughs, squeezing me affectionately. "I just feel a little bad that's all." "For what?" He places the crispy bacon on the tray and lifts me up on the counter, trapping me in but I don't mind. Hooking my legs around him, I pull him closer, placing my hands on his chest as his encircle my waist. "I've been so busy this past week that I've barely made time for you." My eyes soften as I see the guilt swirling in his eyes. "Baby, I completely understand. You're the don for gods sake. I don't want to get in the way of your work." "You're never a burden Alessandra. Don't ever think like that." "I know that. What I mean is we both know how this life is. It requires a lot of sacrifice but we're a team. We're gonna be just fine. Besides, I've been busy too with my new job. My boss can be quite a pain in the ass you know." He raises an eyebrow at me, eyes gleaming with mirth. "Oh really? Do I need to have a word with him?" I laugh, shaking my head. "Nah, I can handle him." I say placing a light kiss on his lips. Luciano's eyes darken as they fall to my lips. "You have got him wrapped around your finger." He murmurs, his lips only a breadth of an inch from mine. "Didn't you know? That was my plan all along." He chuckles, tucking a wayward strand of hair that escapes from my messy bun. "Well Ms Morino, looks like your plan worked." "Really?" "Really. Because the don is absolutely in love with you." "Good because I love him too." Luciano's lips slam urgently against mine and I lose myself in him. Our hands roam each other's body hungrily despite having done much more than that the night before.
"Oh Jesus Christ! My eyes, my virgin eyes!" I jump at the sound of Angelo's voice, immediately pulling away from a groaning Luciano. "Angelo!" He's standing at the doorway with his hands over his eyes, the others in similar positions behind him. "Nope nuh uh. Jesus Christ is who we should be shouting for right now." I blush deeply, burying my face against a completely unaffected Luciano's chest. "Stop being so dramatic. I've caught you and my sister so many times it's scarred me." Luciano says drily. I chuckle as Angelo and Emilia glare at him while Luca and Sofia walk in past them. "Oh please. We weren't as bad as Luca and Sofia. Thank god they've got their own place now." Luciano smirks and his face lights up as if he just won the lottery. "Good idea. I'll have the architect call you to draw up the plans." I catch on to his train of thought and begin to chuckle. "Wh-what? What plans?" Luciano just shrugs before picking me up and carrying the tray of food in his other hand. "For your new place with Emilia." Luca and Sofia burst out in laughter and even I can't help but laugh at the couples expressions. "You're joking right. You're kicking us out?" "Luciano, I'm your sister. You can't kick me out!" Luciano just ignores them, carrying me out of the kitchen, their frantic yells fading in the distance. As we reach the guest room we've been staying in while our room is being redecorated, he puts the breakfast tray on the bed stand and places me on the bed. Proposing myself up on my elbows, I send him an amused look. "You weren't serious were you?" He raises his eyebrows at me, "about Angelo and Emilia moving out? I was dead serious." Gaping at him, I stare wide eyed. "What are we gonna do alone in this huge place? And do you honestly think they're gonna move out?" My question brings out a devilish smirk as he crawls into bed, hovering over me, his hands sliding under my hoodie. "We'll just have to convince them then, won't we?" Let's just say, Emilia and Angelo might have already called the architect.
