Charlie's POV

I could not fall asleep. Well I did, just not for long. I continuously tossed and turned, never finding the position to get comfortable and when I did my mind just wouldn't turn off.

With a sigh I sat up on my bed turning to the clock. In blinking letters showed it was only 3:30 a.m. Which honestly wasn't that late due to the fact that I tried to sleep at 2:30.

Finally giving up on sleeping I stood up off my bed and left my room. I quietly made my way down the stairs and to the kitchen. I took slow and steady steps in hoping I wouldn't wake anyone up.

I grabbed out a glass and the milk. I poured the milk in the glass before putting the milk back in the fridge. I brought the glass up to my lips taking a small sip. Just what I needed.

I turned around to walk back up to my room but I ran straight into someones chest. The milk in my hand instantly went onto the persons shirt. The drink instantly got soaked up by the shirt, but some quickly dropped onto the floor.

I looked up with wide eyes to see Jacob looking down at me with an emotionless look.

"Blame the milk not me!" I rushed out backing away quickly. He just raised his eyebrow at me. I gulped and put the glass in the sink.

"Come with me. I'll get you a new shirt." I said to him grabbing his hand and pulling him with me all the way up the stairs and into my room.

"Wait here." I stated before walking across the hall and into my brothers room. It still makes me cringe walking in here. I grabbed a plain black t-shirt and walked back into the hall, shutting my brothers door quietly behind me. As soon as I got into my room I threw the shirt that Jacob, he caught it with ease.

Slipping his old shirt off he threw it on the ground. I tried not to look but my eyes instantly shifted down to his chest. Staring at it I could almost drool. He easily had an eight pack. Okay maybe not eight, but you get my point anyway.

Tattoo's littered his chest and arms like they were another layer of skin. All sorts of different designs. Most seeming dark though.

"Are you done?" Jacob said crossing his arms, my brothers shirt dangling in his grip. I gulped and instantly a blush crept its way onto my face. With a small chuckle he threw my brothers shirt over his head.

"So why are you still awake?" He had asked me in a quiet voice.

"I just couldn't sleep. Why weren't you asleep?" I asked him taking a seat on my bed.

"I don't sleep much." He said plainly. I nodded and played with my fingers.

"Come sit with me?" I asked quietly, not taking my eyes off of the ground in front of me. I heard his footsteps before he sat down next to me.

"I have a gift for you. For your birthday." He mumbled reaching into his pocket. He pulled out a small small silver ring. He passed it over to me.

"The box it came in was a bit too much so I just decided to give it to you like this." He mumbled.

The ring was beautiful. My name was carved into the side in cursive which I'm surprised it fit because the ring is so thin. I slid the ring onto my finger and looked up to Jacob with a smile.

"It is gorgeous. I love it thank you." I said truly happy.

"I was shopping with Victoria because she has dragged Austin and I there to get you a gift and then I saw it. I knew I had to get it for you." He mumbled, almost nervous. I must be seeing things.

I leaned over and hugged Jacob. He instantly relaxed in my arms and hugged me back.

"Can I ask you something?" I asked looking up at him.

"You just did." He said with a straight face. My eyes narrowed slightly.

"The sass is not needed Jacob." I said bluntly. He rolled his eyes.

"Why did you ignore me this whole week?" I asked looking at him in the eyes. His eyes held no emotion. I couldn't read what he was feeling through his eyes like I normally could. I saw Jacob's jaw clench and his hands balled into fists.

"I'm not a good person for you to be around." He said plainly. My eyebrows furrowed.

"Shouldn't I be the judge of that?" I asked, irritation evident in my voice. He turned towards me and looked at me in the eyes.

"Where ever I go danger follows. I can't risk you getting hurt." He said with a straight face. So the devil does have a small heart.

"And yet here I am, showing up at your party. I was trying to stay away from you, yet I can't bring myself to do that. No matter what I always find myself looking at you, making sure you are safe. I don't want the danger I bring be the reason you end up hurt." He said keeping a straight face, not showing any sign of emotion.

"I will be the one to decide whether or not I want you in my life or not Jacob. Whatever danger you have, bring it on. I will fight through it. Just don't shut me out like that again." I said with a frown.

He leaned forward resting his forehead on mine. We just sat there with our eyes closed, just glad to be in each others presence.

"What are you doing to me Charlie." He whispered.

"I really didn't think I was doing anything." I said leaning back. His eyes opened and he just stared at me. I think he could tell how tired I was because he pushed me back onto the bed lightly. Once I was under the blankets he laid down on top of me and rest his head on my chest, using my boobs as a pillow.

"Tell me more about yourself." Jacob said while I started playing with his hair.

"Well I have an older brother obviously. He doesn't come home often, I actually haven't seen him since my mom got sick. My father left me alone with my mother and brother about five years ago. I haven't gotten a single text or call since." I took in a deep breath.

"Not that I want one. He wasn't a good man." I paused before continuing.

"I work at the diner to get money to pay the bills, even my mothers hospital bill. I don't like being the center of attention, it's why today felt so weird to me. I'm not used to all of the attention on me." I said with a small laugh. Jacob tilted his head and looked up at me. He just sat there looking at me.

"So beautiful." He said before nuzzling his face back into my boobs. A blush took over my face. I could feel the butterflies in the pit of my stomach. I continued to play with Jacob's hair until I realized his breathing even out. He had fallen asleep. For a man who says he doesn't sleep he tends to fall asleep on me a lot.

Closing my eyes I wrapped my arms tighter around him and drifted off into a peaceful sleep.

~The next morning~

The next morning I woke up to an empty bed. A frown settled on my face as I realized Jacob was not with me.

"Looking for me?" A familiar voice said. My head shot up and I locked eyes with a smirking Jacob. He stood there leaning up against my door frame with his arms crossed. I blushed and looked down.

"Come on. Laura made breakfast." He said reaching his hand out to me. I took it slowly and getting out of bed. He led me downstairs, the smell of bacon instantly hitting my nose.

I thanked Laura for the food and we all ate. There were slight conversations going on between us all. I smiled at all my friends and my new friends. I started the dishes while they all kept a conversation with me. A knock put a stop in the middle of our conversation.

"I'll get it!" Laura chirped. She skipped off to the door. I heard the door open before a voice started talking but I couldn't quite hear what they said. I gasp was heard from Laura.

"Charlie get over here!" Laura yelled. With a shrug I dried my hands and started walking towards the door, the others following slowly behind me, curious at who was at the door. I looked down until I got to the door and as soon as I looked up I wish I hadn't.

The towel in my hand dropped to the floor and my jaw clenched. My eyes instantly began to water, although not out of sadness, out of anger, frustration.

"Hello Charlotte." The all to familiar voice said.
