Charlie's POV

Something I had learned from past times shopping with Laura is that she takes the term "Shop till you drop" quite literally. My feet are killing me by the time we made it to lunch time. Vickie insisted we stopped at the food court or she would die from starvation.

Today the girls and I decided we would go dress shopping for prom since it was about 3 weeks away. We had been to many different stores in the ginormous three story tall mall.

Laura had drug us on a two hour car ride to one of the biggest malls in our state. The trip itself wasn't horrible. We listened to music and sang our hearts out. It gained the attention of cars around us but none of us cared.

The mall was packed with high school students trying to get the best dresses possible. All of us just couldn't find the perfect one for us.

Laura was going on and on about this one shop that had the best dresses ever imagined that we said we would go to after lunch.

After finishing my Taco Bell taco and my Baja blast I threw it in the trash bin. I walked back over to the girls with a smile on my face.

We all made our way up to the store. We froze in front of the store with bright smiles. The mannikins in the window were wearing some of the most stunning dresses I had ever seen. They were absolutely breath taking.

The three of us looped arms and walked into the almost empty store. You could tell it was a more upper class store based on the looks. Dresses upon dresses were everywhere. All of us looked at each other before splitting up.

I was looking at a maroon colored v-neck dress when a worker walked up to me. I could easily tell she didn't want to help me. She basically glared at me and faked a smile.

"Do you need help finding anything?" The girl asked obviously annoyed. I shook my head silently and looked at the dress.

"Are you sure you are at the right store? These dresses are a little pricey. The dresses at the store down below may, how do I put this, be more in your price range." She said, her eyes scanning over me. I looked down at my black skinny jeans and Jacob's grey hoodie. My hair was in a messy bun and I decided on wearing my glasses today.

I dropped the dress in my hand and let it fall between the other dresses. The girl smiles harshly at me before turning away and walking to another person. I swallowed the lump in the back of my throat and made my way to my friends. Both of them had tons of dresses in their arms.

"I will be back guys. I have to use the bathroom." I said quietly. They gave me a huge smile and nodded. I made my way out of the store and sucked in a breath. I instantly grabbed out my phone when I felt it vibrate. Jacob's name was at the top showing he was calling. I quickly pressed the green accept button and put it up to my ear.

"Hello." I said quietly while taking a seat on a bench.

"How's dress shopping?" He asked. I was about to speak but I froze.

"Fine." I said after a few seconds. I heard a scoff on the other side.

"You suck at lying. What happened?" He asked. I shrugged but then I realized he couldn't see me.

"I tried shopping at this one store but this worker said that she thinks the dresses were to pricey for me and that I should go down to the middle class floor. She completely judged me based on how I dressed." I said with a huff. There was a small silence before Jacob broke it.

"Do I have to kill her?" He asked making my jaw drop. Then again this is Jacob we are talking about so just as quickly as I dropped it I closed my mouth.

"No I don't want you to do that. Are you crazy!" I exclaimed.

"Crazy for you." He said, his voice darkening an octave. I huffed again.

"Whatever. I'll see you when I get home." I mumbled playing with the hem of my shirt.

"I love you." He spoke. I smiled slightly.

"I love you too." I said before hanging up. I sighed before I felt a presence next to me. I looked over slightly to see a decently old woman looking at me with a smile. I jumped slightly and her smile dropped a little.

"I'm sorry ma'am, I didn't mean to startle you. I didn't mean to ease drop but I heard that the worker in that store gave you a hard time." She said pointing to the store my friends were in. I nodded slightly still confused.

"Well I own a store here as well and I would love to give you a dress. We just got this bright yellow that I think would look absolutely gorgeous on you." She said with a smile. That smile brought a smile on mine.

"Which store is it?" I asked her. Her arm outstretched and pointed to a star across the walkway on the other side of the mall. The signed on the wall in big letters were 'Dotties Dresses.'

The woman stood up and I did the same.

"I am Dottie by the way." She said our stretching her hand. I took it and smiled at her.

"I'm Charlie." She smiled back at me sweetly.

"Let me go tell my friends." I said quickly. Dottie nodded and sat back down on the bench. Laura and Vickie were at the dressing rooms having a blast. After telling them I'd be at another store they just nodded and went on with their trying on.

I met Dottie back outside and she led me towards the store. Once we were inside I could tell this place was much fancier than the one the girls were in. The dresses were fluffier and bigger. More eye catching. If I couldn't afford the dresses at the last store I don't know how I could afford them here.

"Go! Go try on." Dottie pushed. I smiled at her and began grabbing dresses I liked.

After trying on maybe all the dresses in my size I gave up. I sighed and slumped onto the large couch in the room. Dottie looked at me like I had grown two heads.

"What's wrong deary?" She asked me after helping her customer.

"All of these dresses are absolutely gorgeous but none of them are me. They don't fit me." I sighed. Dottie rubbed her chin and hummed. Then it was like the best idea hit her and she ran to the front door, closing it and flipping the sign so it says closed.

She hurried back to be with the biggest smile I've seen on her face yet. I just looked at her completely lost.

"I have the perfect dress for you. I can't believe I didn't think of this sooner." She said then turning around and going into the back room. She came back with a big white wrapped bag. She passed it to me and basically shoved me into the dressing room.

After being in the dress I stared at myself in the mirror and smiled. This is it. This is the dress.

I walked out and Dottie's face just instantly lit up. Tears welled in her eyes as I did a little spin.

"Oh honey you look gorgeous!" She exclaimed. I smiled brightly at her.

"Thank you Dottie! How much is the dress?" I asked. I hope that it isn't that high so I can actually keep the dress.

"It's on the house." I froze at the sentence. She can't be serious.

"You must be kidding Dottie. A dress like this should cost millions. I can't just take it." I exclaimed still in shock.

"My grand daughter made that dress and told me to sell it to the person who I think would fit it most. Well darling it fits you so well I want to give it to you for free." She said with the brightest smile.

"Let me at least give you three hundred. That's all I have." I said. Dottie smiled and nodded. I reached over and hugged her. She laughed and hugged me back.

"Come again soon darling." Dottie said while I walked out of the store. I waved to her before walking over to my friends who sat at a table in the middle of the walkway.

Dress bags sat next to them both. I smiled at them before sitting down. We talked about our dresses before we called it a day and headed home.

Jacob begged to see my dress, but I of course didn't allow it and said no. I hid it in a special closet in my parent's old room.

It was such a long day that Jacob and I curled up in bed and decided, it was time to go to sleep. We did exactly that.
