For the next few weeks, Lauren and Sam were spending more and more time together. Except for when Sam was in the studio, or when Lauren was at uni, the pair became almost inseparable.
They spent most of their time walking along the coast, eating in cute cafes, and spending a lot of time in each other's bedrooms- take that how you will. If the lads weren't up for a pint, Sam would sit at the bar and keep Lauren company as she worked. It had only been a month since the pair had first met, and to some it seemed as though they were moving a little fast, but Lauren and Sam loved being in each others company.
By mid-June, Lauren had finished all of her final year exams, and consequently her degree. Sam decided that to celebrate he wanted to do something special, and so told Lauren to dig out a nice dress so he could take her for a meal.
At 7:45, Sam knocked on Lauren's front door. Seconds later he looked up at the sound of the front door opening and he was greeted by Lauren's father. 'Paul!' Sam greeted him, sticking out his hand in order to shake his hand. He had met Lauren's parents briefly at the start of the week when he picked Lauren up for a day out, but Lauren had kept the greeting brief before her and Sam hurried out the door, not ready for formal introductions to the parents. 'Sam, how are you?' Paul asked, reciprocating the handshake with a firm grip.
'Dad, don't scare the poor boy' Sam heard from the top of the stairs, and he looked up to see Lauren with a wide grin stretched across her face. His mouth dropped at the sight before him. She looked beautiful, her hair cascaded down her back, straightened instead of her usual curls, and she was wearing a simple yet beautiful red dress which hugged her figure perfectly. He decided in that moment that that exact shade of red was his new favourite colour, and he couldn't wait until the end of the night when he could take her back to his and take it off.
"Let's go!' Lauren said excitedly, kissing her dad on the cheek as a goodbye and walking out the front door. 'God I can't wait to move out next week' Lauren exclaimed. Herself and Nicola had found a cute two-bedroom flat to rent in the heart of Tynemouth. It wasn't much, but Lauren was excited to gain her freedom, live with her best friend, and more importantly, have Sam over anytime she wanted without worrying about her parents walking in.
The couple soon arrived at Lola Jeans in Tynemouth. Sam had made a reservation for 8 as he knew that this was Lauren's favourite restaurant. Hand in hand, they entered the restaurant and were shown to their seats.
'I'm so proud of you' Sam said to Lauren, 'I know I've only known you for a month but you've worked so fucking hard, you're gonna smash your training contract too.' Lauren smiled and blushed, Sam was being so supportive. Even though they hadn't known each other that long, he made sure she knew happy he was for her and all her achievements. She repaid him by listening to all of his songs he was recording and telling him how much she loved them.
As the pair ate their meals, Lauren could tell Sam was getting a little nervous. He had obvious tells: long periods of silence, scratching his head and stumbling over his words. He had acted the same when he had his brief interaction with her parents.
'What's wrong?' Lauren asked, concerned about the boy across from her. 'Nowt,' Sam said back to her, continuing to eat his meals.
A frown spread across the girl's face. There was obviously something wrong with the boy, she just couldn't figure out what.
'Well, there was something I wanted to ask' said Sam. Lauren nodded, encouraging him to go on. 'I know it's not been that long. Just over a month actually... I just really like ya Lauren and i think we should make this official. Will you be my girlfriend?'
Lauren was speechless. It had only been a month, arguably too soon to make things official. But as she looked at him looking at her all nervous, she melted. 'Of course I will Sam!' she exclaimed, reaching over the table to plant a loving kiss on his lips.
'I love that fucking pub' Sam laughed. 'First, it got me my career. Secondly, its got me my dream girl.'
