Serenity

I felt myself slowly waking up. I couldn't keep my eyes closed so I opened them and picked up my phone to see what time it was.

3.00 am

It was too early, but i had a dry feeling in my mouth and wanted to get some water.

As I stood up to go to the kitchen, I wondered if Ares was back yet. He wasn't with me and it felt cold when he wasn't next to me.

After getting a glass of water from the kitchen I went to check if he's in his room, but when I walked in what I saw made me drop the glass.

The glass shattered as I felt my world shatter along too.

He was in his bed looking pale and covered in blood.

He's gone.

I started whimpering and it quickly turned into sobs. I fell to my knees and covered my eyes.

"Well well, it took you long to find out" I heard a voice behind me.

I turned around quickly and saw my mother.

"Why?! Why did you do this?!" I kept screaming and screaming why feeling my face swollen.

"Serenity" She called out my name. "Serenity!" She yelled when I didn't answer.

I could hear my name being called. I could hear it in my head. Everything got blurry and then I slowly peeled my eyes open. I was breathing hard, covered in sweat eyes were filled with hot tears.

"Serenity!"

He was here. He was right here with me alive and well.

He looked worried and scared, but I was probably more scared than him. I let out a sigh of relief as I wrapped my arms around him.

"Calm down, it was just a bad dream. I'm here now"

He didn't know how relieved his last sentence made me.

He took me in his arms and got comfortable in my bed.

"Want to tell me about it?" He asked. I shook my head no. I didn't want to think about it. "It's okay angel" He whispered.

"Please don't make me sleep alone again" I mumbled.

He chuckled, "I promise I won't"

I tightened my grip on him and burried my face in his chest.

The next morning I woke up feeling someone touching my lips but kept my eyes closed. My alarm hadn't gone off yet.

"I wish you knew how much you mean to me" I heard him whisper.

I had to keep myself from widening my eyes and gasping.

I felt his lips on my cheek, lingering there for a few seconds.

"I love you" He whispered once again in my ear and kissed my cheek again. I felt my face heating up, but I couldn't let him know I was awake so I started groaning a little "in my sleep".

I moved around a little and stretched my arms.

"Wake up sleeping beauty"

I moved around and cuddled into him keeping my eyes closed.

I didn't want to leave him.

That dream had me so terrified that I felt the need to be around him now.

"I don't want to go" I whined.

"You have to" He said in a smooth voice and stroked my hair.

I finally opened my eyes and looked up at him.

"I want to stay with you"

He looked taken aback, he didn't know what to answer.

"Please?" I said batting my lashes.

"Fuck, don't make that face" He murmured looking away.

I straddled him and forced him to look at me.

"Please? Please let me stay with you. I want to stay with you" I whined and hugged him.

I was acting like a brat, but I wanted to be with him right now.

He sighed, "How could I ever say no to my sweet girl?" He said and smiled.

"Yay!" I exclaimed and kissed his cheek, "Thank you"

"I'm such a bad guardian" He sighed, "I just agreed to you skipping school just so you can stay with me"

"But you made me happy"

He smiled, "Then I guess I can be happy"

We stayed in all day and watched movies. That was when I got a notification on my phone.

It was a text from an unknown number and it was quite disturbing.

I missed you little one.

I felt my stomach turn from anxiety.

"What's that?" Ares asked. He was right next to me and saw my expression change.

"Just a t-text" I lied. I didn't want him to worry over nothing.

It was probably a prank or they sent it to the wrong number.

Sorry, wrong number.

I replied.

The reply was almost instant. I opened the text expecting to see something like oh sorry, but I was wrong.

Oh I know exactly whose number this is Serenity

"Serenity, give me your phone" Ares demanded holding out his hand. His expression was sharp and serious.

"It's just-"

"I said give me your phone" He said slowly and calmly, but his tone was terrifying.

I handed it my phone and he saw the texts. I saw his knuckles turning white as he clutched it in his hand. I was scared he was going to break it.

And he did.

It shattered in his hand, but the first thing I thought about was his hand and how much it was bleeding. His face held no emotion, as if he hadn't realized what he'd done.

"You'll have a new one by tonight" He growled.

"Ares your hand, it's bleeding" I pointed out.

Wow really Serenity? It wasn't obvious before.

"I'll bring the aid kit" I said and stood up.

"It's nothing" He told me but I ran to the bathroom and brought the kit.

"Give me your hand" I said kneeling in front of him.

"I said it's nothing"

I gulped at his tone. I knew he wouldn't hurt me but I was still scared.

His features softened, "No, I'm sorry" He said and reached out to touch me, but me being my stupid self I flinched. "No, please don't. Don't be scared of me, I'm sorry" He pleaded frowning.

"I-I'm not" I smiled and opened the kit.

He gave me his hand and I took out the pieces that had dug into his skin and then cleaned it. He didn't wince or flinch once. He looked like he was almost used to it.

"There, all done" I said when I was finished.

"Thank you" He murmured. He suddenly picked me up and made me straddle him.

"Y-your hand!"

"Don't worry angel, it's nothing" He said cupping my face. "I want you to promise me something" He said looking right into my eyes.

"Of course" I said nodding. I didn't care what it was.

"You promise me that whatever happens that makes you feel uncomfortable or disturbed or scared in any way, you say it to me okay? No secrets, I want you to tell me everything" He said.

"Yes" I said nodding.

"Has anything like this ever happened again?"

"No. Do you have any idea who it could be?" I asked. I was honestly creeped out by the fact that this person knew me.

He sighed, "I have some ideas"

"Do you think it could be my mom-" his thumb touched my lips shushing me.

"Shh don't stress yourself out, I can take care of it. I can take care of everything" He whispered kissing my cheek.

We were really close to each other now. I was still straddling him while his hands were on my waist and he was kissing my cheek going lower and lower. I felt as if my face was about to explode.

"Serenity?" He mumbled. I hummed in reply. I couldn't trust my words right now. "You don't do this with anyone else right?" He asked.

"N-no"

"Good girl" He pulled away and smiled at me.
