Harley's POV

"Do you need help?" A voice came from the top of the steps.

"S-sure." I nodded. He was the buffer built Sanchez brother I saw just five minutes ago. He certainly was a good looking guy, just like Brooke said. I suppose the Sanchez family had no bad genes.

"Ion know how he expected you to carry all these yourself." A subtle Chicano accent shining through his words. I was familiar since my father spoke in the same dialect. He shook his head to himself to further show his disappointment then proceeded to grab most of the cups from my grip. He looked intimating with his large build and muscles that looked like they were trying to escape from his skin-tight shirt, but the smile on his face made all those feelings disappear. It was almost like he was a friendly giant.

"I almost made it, right," I said playfully. I was out of breath, but I would've made it to the office with no issues.

"You most certainly did." He smiled at me as we made it to the door. He pushed the door open for me, allowing me to walk in with the three cups I held. Everyone was either standing off to the side of the room or occupied the chairs in front of sir's desk. Sir—like always—leaned against his desk with a disturbed look on his face and his arms crossed against his chest. While I finished up handing Felipe and Henry their coffee cups, I could see out of the corner of my eye, Sir's sharpened gaze concentrated on me. Deciding to ignore his usual cold self, I walked up to take the last coffee left from the friendly giant's hand with a smile.

"Thanks for your help—"I waited for him to tell me his name.

"Ralph. You can call me Ralph." He said quickly.

"Thanks, Ralph. Enjoy your coffee." I replied and turned to deliver the last drink. Extra espresso with two sugars, and extra hot. That's how sir drank it today. With the way sir was glaring at me as I walked towards him, someone would've thought I'd tried to kill him or something. He always wore a scowl on his face and an emotionless look but not this time. Now that I was really looking, this time, he was visibly displeased and uncomfortable. His entire body language read irritated and annoyed. Perhaps I took too long with the coffee. "Here you are, sir." I addressed him and pushed the cup towards him. He just sat for a moment staring back at me. Not attempting to move or speak. Just looking straight at me. I shifted my eyes to the side of the room so I wouldn't have to keep looking at his lethal stare. "I-is something wrong?" I tried. Still, he did nothing but only grabbed the cup from my hand and set it on the desk but only for a millisecond later for him to grab my hand in his and began pulling me out of the room.

"Henry begin the meeting. I'll be back shortly." He called out as we walked away. Everyone's eyes on me as I was basically being dragged across the room.

"S-sir?" I panicked. Was he really angry with how long I took with the drinks? I could've sworn it was only a short while. Maybe he didn't like me watching him converse earlier in the lobby. Was something wrong with the coffee?

"Harley, I don't appreciate you flirting with my men." We had stopped walking by now and were standing across from each other by the door, his eyes still peering into mine with every word.

"W-what-I didn't" My mind instantly became confused and jumbled up. I thought back to only moments ago with Ralph, and I looked up to him to see if that is what he had meant. "S-sir, he was only helping me bring in the drinks. Please, don't misinterpret it." I waved my hands in front of him.

"I don't misinterpret things, Harley." He took a stride towards me. "I'm telling you what I saw." He was now only inches away from "and what I saw was my assistant coquetting with someone she had no business being within the first place." His body towered over mine, so close I felt his arm brush against my chest.

"I-I see how you could think that, but I wasn't trying to f-flirt with anyone. He was helping me bring the coffee. I was just trying to be nice and say thank you for the help." I replied to the best of my abilities. I tried to input some confidence into my voice while talking; however, to him, I'm sure I sounded like a scared mouse. Nonetheless, I didn't appreciate that he was implying such things about me or what I was doing. I felt like a small child being accused of stealing cookies from a cookie jar. "W-why are you accusing me of something I didn't do." I looked away from him in pure frustration.

"Forget it." He spat and moved away from me and back towards the office door. He always seemed to have an issue with everything I did, but I'm sure he doesn't see it that way. Gosh, sometimes I really did want to speak my mind to him, but I'd rather live. "I'll be gone all day tomorrow. Take the day off. Henry nor Felipe will be here either, so be careful. Stay in your dorm as much as possible." He grasped the doorknob to open the door. His mood completely switched yet again.

"W-Where will you be? Is something wrong?" I stopped him. I couldn't help but ask. He made it all sound eerie.

"Nothing you need to worry about." He looked away from me. My aggravation seeping even more through me.

"Shouldn't I know, me being your assistant?" I said to him, putting an emphasis on the word "assistant."

"Your smartass mouth never fails to amaze me, Harley." He purred with a smirk on his lips. " Go back to your room now, Harley. I'll come to see you before I leave." He warned with a low voice.

"I-" I began to speak; however, the sound of the office door opening halted my sentence.

"Boss, we need you in here." Felipe interrupted. Sir nodded before turning to me for a brief moment, then disappeared behind the door. It was so irritating how confused he always left me. He seemed affectionate and nice sometimes but repulsed by me other times. Not to mention all this confusion with Avery's Father. I knew for a fact now that the reason he would be gone and his cousins are here is because of the confidential information Evan got ahold of. This entire thing started right after Evan was caught. I needed to know what was in that file Evan stole and why it has sir acting so meticulous.

I snapped myself out of my haze to look at the door. I could hear the subtle sound of Sir's voice as he added comments here and there while Henry spoke. I started to the door, quietly creeping, so the voices were more clear. It took all the space between where I was previously standing all the way to the doorway to hear the voices in the room talking clearly. I lightly pressed my ear to the cold wooden door but making sure to anchor my hold by placing my palms against the solid wood.

"It won't work, Henry." Sir said

"Yes, it will. There is no way Huncho will expect the leader of the most powerful cartel in the state to show up on his doorstep. He won't know a damn thing." Henry said. Who was Huncho?

"He is right." another voice added.

"Yeah, but how do we know that Huncho hasn't done anything with the information that Evan gave him," Felipe asked. I knew it had something to do with Evan. Now I have to figure if any of this correlates to Avery's dad.

"We don't," Sir added, "but it doesn't matter. We don't even know what all Evan told that prick or what he wanted with it all. Either way, we'd need to visit him." Sir finished. Evan must've been giving information to another source. It seems like everyone knows exactly who.

"Why don't we just go ask the fucker?" I recognized the voice as Ralph.

"Did you not hear what I just said." sir said. "It doesn't matter. There is a reason Evan stayed here for longer than a couple of months. We have to get rid of Huncho now." Everything is becoming clear now.

"So let's go with the best route," Henry said. My breath was now growing heavier as I tried to balance myself on the ball of my feet and piece together everything they were saying. "All we need is Harley," Henry spoke again. In dismay, my stomach felt like it had sunk to the floor. Me? Did they need me? I did tell sir that it was my job to help him, but that was just my attitude talking. This isn't what I meant.

"No. Think of something else really fucking fast. " Sir replied. I stopped myself to listen closely to his answer. Why was he so against it? "I don't want her anywhere close to this." He sounded repulsed by the idea of me aiding them. The harshness of his words left me feeling slightly embarrassed and uneasy. They sounded like they really needed my help, and I needed to know how Avery's father played in all this. The choice seemed almost too obvious. I knew in my heart I probably had other motives as well, but I'd push that aside for now.

"Boss, think ab-" Henry began, but before he could finish, I took all the confidence and courage left in me and pushed through the heavy doors.

"I'll do it." Everyone's eyes landed on me, but I was only looking at one person. "I'll help you."
